Very rude service, uncaring & distant. There are many carriers out there to choose from. Be careful

After 2 torturous years with AT&T, I was so ready to switch to Verizon. While searching for the nearest store, which is this Austin Street store, I came across all these horrible reviews. I was seriously contemplated going to a much farther Verizon store but finally decided to save time and go to this store and expect for the worse. To my surprise, it was a very pleasant experience. The staffs are pretty friendly and helpful. The lady that helped me with my activation, I believe her name is Michelle, was wonderful and very professional. read more

Can this place get any lower in class, customer service and rudeness. I thought not...but I was wrong, verizon wireless knows it's the most expensive and they are clearly the best in service, web and calls but cmon guys treat your customers better. You don't have to hire such low class, not proper speaking ghetto rude people. I can't return a life proof case? Be aware of the girl named turquoise who kept shaking her head...is this a movie? Am I in Compton? Attitude from an employee? Excuse me miss....I am the customer I also live in the neighborhood and clearly you do not. Worst service (customer service that is). Rude and I will not be going back. Unfortunately all my business will be done thru their 611 #. Seriously with all the bad reviews and the way they treat customers how is the store still open?! DON'T GO TO THIS STORE. I been with Verizon for over 20 years and they have the Best customer service. But this place, HAS THE WORST MANAGEMENTS AND WORST CUSTOEMR SERVICE. They really make Verizon look bad. Go to a different store. read more

Came in for an upgrade; Manny killed it!!!! So genuine and courteous. Answered all my questions, helped me though my trouble shooting, explained the details to such an extent I got the tablet I didn't know I wanted too! Typically, Verizon customer service is the WORST. No sense of customary met service or regard for other people's time. Pointlessly signed in to wait in line to receive service and watched other people being helped who had come in after me. When I asked the person who had checked me in, she made every excuse as to why those people need to be seen before me. Then the manager comes over and says he can help by answering our questions but if need any services, we'll need to wait longer. read more

The poor reviews this place is racking up seem very well deserved. When I 1st walked in it took almost 3 hours (!!) to get a phone and a line set up. The agent I was 1st dealing with felt it alright to disappear when I told him I was running to an ATM to give him $270 in cash. Way to be a salesman buddy...anyhow the second agent was a really sweet girl but kept trying to sell me stuff I made it adamantly clear I didn't need. She would relent quickly but keep offering me things even after I emphasized that this was taking long and I was starting to run late. Then when I needed to cancel my contract (in the 1st few days), they really got skeezy. 1st the manager was refusing to refund me in any form but a check that would take 4-8 weeks to arrive. This is for a purchase I made not 5 days ago, in cash. He ultimately conceded and claimed though he did not have the cash on hand he would call me so I could pick it up when it came in. By the way I was open to being given a check or having a card credited, but not alright with waiting over a month for them to mail me a check, something they neglect to tell you is supposedly their policy. Then this guy has the nerve to go on vacation without so much as a word and had I not taken the initiative to hound them, my trial period would've expired before he came back. I'm convinced this was malicious and not simple oversight. Thanks a lot Valentino, enjoy your trip. Fortunately the assistant managers he left in charge, Stephen and Angel were much more helpful, and refunded me without issue. If I go back to this location, ever, for anything. I'll be very selective to screen the staff I speak with. I recommend others be careful as well, or perhaps just avoid the store altogether. read more

WORST STORE LOCATION EVER! BUYER BEWARE. The service here is terrible. When I walked in to buy a phone I was seen right away by two different staff members, sounds good, right? After I bought a phone I returned, two days later, for a service issue and I was put on a "service" waiting list which had me standing around for 45 minutes while 5 staff members walked the floors waiting to help anyone that wanted to spend money. I guess they figure since I already spent my money, I can wait. At least 4 people were helped by sales within the time it took for 1 person to be helped by service. Not to mention that there was only one staff member working the service desk. Needless to say, my service issue has STILL NOT BEEN RESOLVED! On top of this, when I bought my phone, they tried to sell me tons of over priced extras. Told me I'm gonna want to add a 16 gig SD card which they have for a discounted price of $50 dollars! $50 DOLLARS? I went on to amazon and bought the SD card for $13 dollars, that's right, same card for $13 bucks. DO NOT BUY ANY EXTRAS FROM THEM. EVERYTHING CAN BE PURCHASED CHEAPER ON AMAZON OR EVEN AT STAPLES. read more

I would like to appuald the effort a manager by the name of Jonathan . I had a problem based on information one of his employees told me. I explained it was hard to get off from work and come down to the store, so on a weekend night he took time out to help me over the phone. We came here to upgrade a line. Despite the various up-sells by the salesperson (expected) it was an OK experience until we got home and I reviewed my account. That's when I saw the salesperson had added a $11 "monthly protection plan" onto the line without our consent. Very sneaky and unethical. Review your monthly bill carefully if you choose to come here to do any changes / upgrades. read more

Waiting in line for over an hour is never fun! So many people on yelp have complained about the wait times and yet does verizon do anything to provide more chairs, benches or a robust waiting area? No. Does Verizon hire more people to cut down on wait times? No. Can I talk to a human being when I call technical support? I went to the store in May to enquire about new service. I was with AT&T for 13 years. I wanted to upgrade to the new Verizon unlimited promotion plan for my business. I met with a sales associate Erick and store manager Gene. It started off really well when the sales associate explained the plan to me. I said yes, the plan was supposed to an be unlimited business plan. It sounded like the best plan, 5 phone lines, and it would cost around $215 w/ tax. There was supposed to be a credit of $200 per line which would equal to a $1000 credit that I was supposed to receive on a gift card. Everything sounds really good up until this point. So I sign all the documents and Erick said he can give me a tablet and it would not alter the plan. If you pay $165 for the tablet. Sounds too good to be true, but I'm not in the wireless business. So I left the store and got my first bill. It was $435.00, and I repeatedly called Erick to find out what was going on with the bill & the manager that never called me back. So I ended up paying the bill because they said the first bill was higher. So the next bill was $273, still no credit, thinking everything would be fine. $311 was my next bill, called Erick, no response. My next bill was $273, called Erick and Gene, bot no response. Next bill was $286, called Erick and store manager, called corporate and the business, no response. Moral of the story- the bill was never $215. Erick and the store manager mislead me and flat out lied to me. In sales, unfortunately, when you can tell a customer whatever you want them to believe and they make a purchase/decision based on the misleading information there is no recourse. But, in any business, where you are licensed by the state, and if they lie to a customer they can come after their license and livelihood. This is a horrible way to represent Verizon, and I'm sure they do this all the time to others, because its commission based. I can't go back to my 13 year old plan because it's not available anymore. I am no longer with Verizon and I will never go back. I will not recommend it to anyone, and especially not that store. Erick refused to call me, Gene is not a manager, he is a sales associate with a fancy title. A true manager would pick up the phone and call to find out what the issue is and to resolve it. I want everyone to know not to go to that store. Everyone who has a brain in their head and would not make a decision based on lies should not go into stores. I hope corporate looks at this review and reprimands this store and employees. But probably nothing will happen. But after all this is Verizon, a multi-billion dollar company. I have been a Verizon customer for about 10 years. They have always been helpful and professional but this store is far from any of that. ..first of all this place has a bunch of "ghetto" people working. They all seem like they did not even graduate high school. Verizon is known to have smart individuals that are well mannered. ..again this store is far from it. I was trying to purchase a phone (under contract). I called the store while driving to ask if they have it in stock. The lady says yes without a doubt. I get to the store the sales lady starts asking me who is it for pretty much interrogating me as to what I will do with the phone. She thought it was fishy that I already have a white one and now im getting a black one. I can do whatever I want. Im paying $300 for this phone. Then she goes into a little room and calls the manager and 2 other employees to talk about (obviously) me. One by one they came out and looked at me. I felt like leaving but I couldn't go anywhere else because I was short on time. Then the lady comes out and says they dont have the phone in stock. After yelling they magically found the phone that was apparently sold out. Long story short, i got the phone but will never return to that store. read more

This store gives Verizon such a bad name. I am 6 months pregnant and came in today with my elderly parents. My mom walks with a cane and my dad has parkinsons. I came in today because my mom's phone was having some issues. The phone plan is under my name. I walked in to the back to this chubby customer service lady and she told me that she needed my ID in order to see if the phone was under warranty. Fair enough, except I didn't have my ID. I told her is there any way she can check using my information and she said no. My mom told her that I was pregnant and I would have to walk all the way back to my apt to get the ID, is there any way they can just tell us what the problem with the phone is- since my mom had her ID and it was her phone. She said no. So I walked back home, got my ID and came back. Literally- it took this woman two seconds to look at the account to tell me that the warranty was up and the only way to fix the phone is to upgrade and renew the contract for two years. Seriously? You made a 6 month pregnant woman walk back to get her ID just to tell her there's nothing you can do? You couldn't just tell me this from the get go? Seriously, every time I go into this store, I regret being a Verizon customer. The audacity and attitude of this lady is absolutely disgusting and she is just one of many disgusting employees there. She just stared at me with a blank face and had so much attitude. Thinking of switching carriers now because I can't believe I am paying a company with this type of customer service. Being a longtime Verizon customer I switched to FIOS 50/50 and immediately found that in the event of a powerfailure I will lose landline connection. That sucks. They offer a battery backup that requires 18 D-cell batteries that'll give 20 hours of phone (only) access. Initial installation was fast but a few weeks later a piece if equipment began to click (instead of flash a small light). The tech who arrived had never seen that piece; said it was old; and had to find another truck in the area to get a replacement. In addition my calls would not disconnect unless I pulled out the floor plug and put it back in. About a week later, I had very slow screens and no email access. I did a Verizon speed test that read 800+ and 400+ and a retest read 400+ and "unable to complete". When I got a tech on the phone and gave him access to my PC he said the email issue lasted just a few hours and was over (not true) and that the slow screen was due my using Windows XP and Mozilla/Firefox. Though when he ran Verizon speedtest he also got 800+/39+, the 2nd time 700+/'unable to complete". Then he ran tests using other sites and got 60+/50+ twice. Checked Router and again told me my problems were XP and Mozilla..Few days later I had no email access and very slow screens. I tried to call tech support but after the first automated sections, I was listening to music for over 1/2 hour without any auto interruption. Hung up hooked up friends Win7/XP PC - Mozilla/Firefox - still got slow screens, no Verizon login page. No email. I ran speedtests using three sites- OOKLA came in 56.83/15.28. Xfinity came in 57.08/14.50. Checked Verizon twice and got 59.00/21.56 and 44.74/24.78. The word 'aggravation' doesn't describe being crippled for an entire weekend at the peak of holiday time. The next morning, Sunday 9am, tests ran OOKLA 58.21/14.95. Xfinity 56.46/15.92. Verizon 54.41/23.72 and 42.13/20.56. Finally, at 4:30pm I was getting 57+/64+ on all three speedtest sites. Never got - never saw - any notification from Verizon on the Home Page or local NYC TV news of a "down" issue. Verizon just doesn't give a damn. If you need an ISP change, you should look for one that doesn't interfere with your landline. Does anyone remember Sept 11, 2001 when ONLY LANDLINES were working??? and don't even make FIOS a third choice. As I said- they suck! Too much of contact with them is automated responses and many times you get a customer service rep overseas. Example - when I had the clicking sound coming from a small (non-flashing) box I wanted tech support. I got the Philipines who insisted on giving me instructions to reset the router. When I hung up and called back - I told another accented person that I wanted tech support in the U.S. familiar with FIOS equipment. He said "Not a problem. I can help you with that" so I said "if cannot describe the dimensions of the box that is clicking -then you cannot help me'. Then he connected me to tech support in Virginia. read more

This location has the absolute worst customer service reps out of an Verizon store location. They are only helpful if you come in to make a purchase. I (along with a few friends) have had awful experiences and I recently went there for help out of convenience - something I will never do again. I had a phone that got stuck on a master reset attempt and I went into the store for help. The "rep" tells me that it is normal for my type of phone (Nokia Lumia) to reset for a long time - about 4+ hours I ask? He insists yes. The reset completely drained my phone and he tells me now it has to start over again .... I had the feeling he was full of himself and left and the next morning I went to a Verizon near my office in Manhattan and instantly they fixed the problem and even ordered me a replacement phone ... (P.S the reset happened all night long!) This location is pure garbage, and has the worst service....do yourself a favor and go to another location - even if it is out of your way! Definitely worth the effort to go elsewhere. read more
