Micro Center claims on Yelp that their policy is not to resell used items as new. Interestingly the response tries to distinguished returns that are somehow "unused." I've emailed the CEO about this and he hasn't bothered to reply. Once an item is sold it is no longer new. The item i received was sold as new and not marked as an open box. As an update I tried to return a pair of hard drives that were also sold as new but we're defective, and making loud chunking sounds. I had to return the hard drives to the manufacturers at my own expense. The manufacturer has to refund me for the drives because Micro Center sold me broken drives. I'm never shopping at micro center again. Shop NewEgg! To be clear the motherboard was sold as new. read more

This humongous store has everything you need for computers. It doesn't matter how experienced you are on the subject the workers here will make sure to teach you are, the workers here will make sure to teach you anything you're confused about, so you're never left behind. They also provide a wide range of services, from helping you build a computer to fixing your existing one for just $50. When I first built my gaming system, I relied on Microcenter to give me the confidence I needed to finish building my computer. read more

The Queens Micro Center is a treasure. I have gone all the way to Westbury. I have gone to Yonkers. When what you want is in stock elsewhere, you have to go where you have to go. This more local location is a good one. They are a godsend when you need an SD card or 10 or thumb drives. The prices aren't just great, especially on thumb drives, these are good products. Most of the general population doesn't know that when they walk into one of these random shops, they are buying slow USB 2.0 drives. Pointing at you with the fake "Chris Paul Grin" Best Buy with your garbage USB 2.0 PNY drives! Microcenter has way faster USB 3.1 or better drives. This is probably the smallest cheapest item in the store in the scheme of things, but it matters. It shows that even on the smaller detail items, they aren't trying to cheat you. "You" is often the person that goes there not knowing the difference anyway and that will never know that they have been bambuzzled. It's like when my mother would buy us jeans on the street and they would be GUES with one S instead of GUESS because they left the last S off for savings. Sometimes microcenter has the best price and the best product. Sometimes, they have the best product and the price is insane, but not like crazy eddie used to be. When you are in that situation, you need to pull those folks aside and say "listen here, ya'll know you need to do better, cause Best Buy has this for $$ right now and let me show you". They will often price match. Not always so don't go making fake ads with your crayons because these people aren't stupid. If you really want to troll people, you can go there with a pad and write "sudo price match best buy -pricemicrocenter -pricebestbuy". Someone might smile but most likely they will think you are a weirdo who is way too obsessed with linux and help you anyway. And there you have it folks. Micro center. It's not the size of the thing, it's the motion in your hard drive. Unless you use an SSD, then size matters and you should get the most hard drive you can at your price point. read more

Just save yourself the headache and just use Amazon. I got an AMD mobo in a bundle package. When I went to install it with all the other parts, it would post then have constant bios issues. So I went the next day and bought a different mobo that I would have gotten if there hadn't been a good deal on a bundle. That worked without any issues. Now trying to get the mobo back into the original packaging, trying to put the little plastic cover back onto the mobo, I ended up bending some pins. Now mind you there were no bent pints prior to the mobo not working properly. They would not accept the return, saying it was user-error. No the mobo the defective, and who cares if it's already defective that I bend a pin trying to put everything back into the box. Update - Microcenter reached out to do their best to resolve this issue. The sales supervisor Ruo apologized for the aggravation everything caused me, which had been exacerbated by the fact that I drove 3 hours in each direction every time I went this week to Microcenter (I have no Microcenter closer to where I live). He went above and beyond to make sure that the issue got taken care of. I'm revising my review because of his professionalism and Microcenter's quick customer service resolution. read more

I had gotten so used to dedicated electronics stores outside of NYC that going to a PC Richard & Sons and Best Buy was more of a chore than a thrill. Enter Micro Center, the better of both NYC based locations (#1) and is the closest thing to Fry's out west / down south. A few things that stand out for me at Micro Center Flushing: it's clean, the sales associates are usually helpful, and there is a good amount of parking. Even before the pandemic happened, this place rarely felt busy. I've shopped here during weekends and evenings, and it was still relatively chill even on a Black Friday. I dig it. I tend to come here if I need something immediately and can't wait for any online delivery. More often than not, they have what I'm looking for. Calling ahead of time is usually recommended since the online inventory doesn't always match what the store has in stock. Another thing I appreciate is the pricing. I think their computer selection of things (think mobo, graphic cards, SSDs, RAM, etc.) is pretty on par with what I've found with popular online retailers. One thing they don't really have a big selection on is much on the video game side of things but they still have a decent amount of obscure items. Very pleased with this store. They spary your hands before entering. Pretty happy about the free microsd card and flash drive they offered for signing up. This place is huge and I didn't expect much from the outside. Their specials table really had some good deals. There was these cute panda bear headphones that were calling my name. I just had to have them but I'm on a budge. Pretty good prices on electronics, its the toys r us for us nerds. Yes, I'm a nerd. I really wanted one of those gaming chairs. Took my laptop in for a broken screen 2 months after I bought it from them. They wanted to use my warranty to replace it, when I pushed back they relented to refund me the full purchase price but told me that my business wasn't welcomed in their stores anymore bc "I'm costing the company money" and this decision came from their corporate office. Not happy at all with their service. I brought in my laptop to be fixed and when I got home I just put it at the back of my mind. A month or two pass and finally I'm like "let me use my laptop and set it up". I don't know who worked on it but they took out the device or programming that allows it to connect to WiFi. So not only did I spend an arm and a leg to get it fixed in the first place. They didn't even turn it on to check if everything was alright with the laptop BEFORE they gave it to me. When I checked in to see if there was anything they could do. They said that I had waited for long to bring it back in that it wouldn't be covered under any kind of warranty AND they didn't even have my information saved to look back and see what the issues were with my computer. How do you not keep records of that? Seriously disappointed. read more

I cannot believe that I'm seeing negative reviews here. I was blown away by my experience. I bought a new MSI laptop and ram upgrade at the location in Indianapolis in July. I was very excited and all went well. Except then the computer began to run laggy. Sent it in to MSI and they said it was the after market RAM installed. I went into this Microcenter and explained the situation to leadership and the staff could not have been more wonderful. They not only prioritized my issue, they replaced the RAM at no charge and upgraded it further. Leadership on staff (Sahoil--spelling may be wrong) and his counterpart who's name I didn't get was outstanding too. They kept me updated during the process and encouraged me to try out my fixed unit after. It worked perfectly after and is now lightening fast. The staff went above and beyond and it showed and this is why Microcenter (despite some of the negative reviews here) has a glowing reputation. They are consistent no matter where you go and I'm now a fan for life. Thank you for an incredible experience. read more

Sadly, I thought I found my favorite computer store but the person who is supposed to fix my PC spoke to me with attitude as if I work for him. He told me either wait 5 to 9 days or go pick up the piece from Brooklyn. I told him I would order it from Amazon and have it drop off tomorrow. He told me to cancel my order After three days waiting and paying my transportation, I ended up picking it up. The person who contacted me didn't want to give his name. Apparently, somebody was going to call the cops on them last week so it's not the first time they show poor customer service. read more

Just great. Came here after the last rig I built died. It lasted 12 years before finally kicking the bucket. Since it had been so long, I was a little out of the loop in terms of components. A decade ago, the only MicroCenter was in Long Island. Was exceptionally happy that we have one right here in Queens. Came here and was helped immediately. Staff was extremely friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and I got things taken care of with the quickness. Specifically, Ping (sales) couldn't have been better to work with. Morris (tech) was also stellar. My gratitude to the staff for making things so easy and being so helpful in a situation that could be potentially anxiety inducing. I'll def be back for all my PC needs in the future. read more

We bought two new HP laptops and a printer last week and this was an excellent experience from start to finish. As senior citizens we are not tech savvy and needed some guidance and everyone was very professional, knowledgeable, patient and nice. Ray, Chris, Ethan, and the entire staff is A+. Both store managers introduced themselves as well and thanked us for our business. The people at the knowledge bar and cashiers also couldn't have been nicer! Beware of the Service Tech: My old AMD Athlon custom made 25yr ago PSU burned out. I bought it to MC for a new PSU and a noisy fan. Mind you the comp was working decently up until now. Windows 10 was working just fine. After I initially paid the diagnostic fee $86 I got a text saying that they have replaced the PSU and replaced a noisy fan. I pick it up and when I got home I found the front panel was missing a screws and the hard drives bay were loose inside the case moving around. I hooked all cables then powered the comp on, the Windows 10 desktop kept cycling to a black screen back and forth. I could not do anything. I text service regarding this issue and they said bring it back for another diagnostic. After dropping it off the Manager tells me that the tech who worked on it said that it was taking a long time to boot up and thought it was normal considering it was an old comp. I told him until the PSU went out it was working just fine. The tech thought it was normal it was slow to boot up. I told him nope it only took less than 5 mins to boot up. He also couldn't explain why screws were missing and it will be taken care of. I asked what would cause this issue and he said possibly on the last shut down it may have surged causing corruption or component failure. I asked him if this was a problem before returning the comp back why wasn't I told? he had no answer. At this point I would need a data recovery which was $150 to start then escalate to a Data Recovery expert in upwards of $400 to $1500 all depending. So I was willing to pay the $150 but I was notified they could not recover any data b/c they could not access or read the drive files. So I decided to purchase a new comp, after explaining all this fiasco to the comp manager I couldn't even get a good discount on a new pre-built comp. At this point I took the drive back and went to Best Buy ($180), sure enough they were able to read and recover the data that Micro Center could not, some experts they are. I am highly disappointed with Micro Center. MS needs to fire the service manager after reading the other horrible reviews all regarding him. With this kind of service they will end up closing this location. All the reviews I read were with the service managers involvement. read more

I found out about Micro Center when I was in a desperate need for a computer monitor in order to complete my WFH setup. Major electronics stores like Best Buy only offered delayed deliveries at that time but I needed the monitors ASAP. Since Micro Center offered overnight pickup services, I decided to try it out. Turns out that was the right decision. I went on the first or second day into the lockdown, and was impressed to see how the store manager took the situation very seriously and set a limit on how many customers can enter the store at one time (Right then, many supermarkets in my neighborhood Astoria had no social distance setup). All staff were attentive and I felt safe shopping here. The pickup process was very fast and I was out the door within ten minutes. Products were priced more reasonably than at mega electronic stores and I had no issues with them. So far, so good! read more

This is my local Micro Center. I actually work blocks away lol! Staff is always friendly! And always a great selection. If you are a tech person, this is your heaven! Whatever computer part you want or need can always be found here. Now if you are looking for parts from 10 years ago, not so much... But if you are looking for new stuff, they have everything! My brother built his own PC as well as builds custom PC's for others. He gets all the pieces here. If you are looking for a specific type of thermal paste, or a specific length of cable or a specific connector etc.... They have it. I have purchased many things here over the years! From hard drives to printers, cables, monitors, graphics cards, laptops, desktops, I can go on and on. I love their amazing warranty! 3 years with accidental breakage! I always go for it, it never hurts. I cannot tell you how many times that I have used it! I cannot speak enough nice things about this store. The staff is always very friendly and very helpful. If you need an item, they will help you find it! All in all, its a PC paradise! They have what you need. Too bad there aren't more of these stores across the country! read more

The avid computer geek flocks to Micro Center Tech attaining electronic and accessories becoming the first to possess the latest technology on hand. While I have no immediate need for anything, but I browsed throughout the store to see what is currently in the market for printers. As I walked through the store there were no sales associate ready, willing, able to assist customers. No one inquired "do you need any help?" or extend salutations of "hi, good morning welcome to Micro Center." Customer service is non-existent. This location is huge and has high ceilings and a wall of photos with respective names honoring founders and inventors of today's technical advances in computer advancement of programming language and platforms. Mitchell Kapor, founder of Lotus 1-2-3; John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz, founders of BASIC; Bjarne Stroustrup, founder of C++, et al. I did not see Bill Gates' name nor photo, founder of Microsoft. This Flushing location has a large free parking lot. read more

My go-to place for all my computer and electronic doodads. If you are not sure what you are need, the employees here are usually knowledgeable and helpful. But if one of them doesn't know the answer, they will sometimes try to find another, who always does. Great service. If you already know what you want, you can check it out on their website to see if the store has it in stock. It will also tell you exactly which aisle its located in. Their prices are reasonable and usually they will have several different kinds of whatever doodad you are looking for. Came in here looking an audio switch. Went over to an employee to help me out. He was more than helpful, offered a few different suggestions and led me to the correct aisle. He spent effort looking for it but couldn't find it. I actually was able to find it first but it was packaged differently. Online, it was shown in a box, but I found it packaged in a plastic bag. It's a pretty big store and has a little of everything you might need. I even saw a 3D printer, if you are into that. Happy shopping! read more

The staff seems quite knowledgeable about tech, but the store's policy and/or system diagnosis can end up charging far more than expected. I had to bring my computer to the store several times for one issue. I ended up spending around $700 for a new GPU, other components and installation fees. Not too long after, another problem shows up with the new parts installed. When I asked if they could check it out and see what's the problem, they said they would have to charge me for running tests. Not sure why I would have to keep paying for additional tests after I already bought everything they recommended and more. Long story short, be prepared to pay multiples service fees if one issue takes multiple visits to resolve, or if different issues occur, even after following the recommendations made by the store. The sales associates seem to push you into paying for warranty on the store's products. I usually don't pay for the warranty, but, strangely enough, the products I've purchased either seem used before/defective, or don't work properly after a short period of time. I've been to the store numerous times over the years for PC-related issues; something always seems to go wrong not too long after leaving the store. read more

Shout out to Ronni who has somehow worked here for 10 years and was super helpful giving me great options but staying in my budget range. He also emailed me all the specs so I can make a final decision on my own time without feeling rushed or pressured. He was honest, knowledgeable, patient and wasn't all judgey with my lack of experience. I mean, not openly anyway lol - great job! I would def recommend anyone who's looking for options on creating a kick ass comp as well as electronics in general. Reasonable prices. Update: I did email Micro Center but did not receive a response that is why I wrote this review. Posting my review here because I did not get a response after emailing Customer Service. On 12/27/19 I visited the Micro Center Queens location in search of the Micro Center brand 128 GB SD card. Upon entering the store, I asked a customer service representative where the SD cards were located and was directed to Aisle 4. I found the SD cards located in Aisle 3, however, no Micro Center brand. I then asked another customer service representative if the store sells Micro Center brand SD cards and was directed to the check out line where the cashier is because Micro Center brand SD cards were by the register. The line was short and I was the next person on line. I asked the cashier for the Micro Center 128GB SD mini card and he told me that they sold out. When I asked him when it will be in stock again he said "There's no schedule when it will come in. We don't know when we will get it in. It can come anytime." I said thank you and left disappointed. When I got home, I went on the Micro Center website and the item that I wanted is In Stock and for Store Pick-Up only. So now I have to go back to the store again when I could of just pick up the item which was in stock the same day when I wanted to gift the item to my friend. Attached is a picture for reference. TheStore associate told me that they didn't have it in stock. When I got home and check they indeed did have in stock. A lot too. Just disappointed. My favorite neighborhood computer store, this place always has a bunch of good stuff for sale and seems to be quite stocked. They give out free 128gb USB flash drives during the holidays to their loyal customers and I think that's pretty cool. Will always look to micro center as my first option before Best Buy. read more

This is like Walmart for computer and electronic supplies. Lots of stuff for anything electronic related. We came to get some printer ink toner and I could almost get lost walking around.. Price seems pretty competitive. I haven't shop for ink for printers for a long time, but the price seemed reasonable. While looking for the ink, I noticed there was a printer on sale for under $40.00. Wow, that's less than the price for the 2 printer ink I was buying. I was almost tempted to get a new printer instead, but since we are only visiting for a short time, I don't want to drive all the way back to FL with a printer in my trunk. Plus I did some research and found the replace ink cartridge is not cheap and not easy to find. We came here because we were in a ink emergency, otherwise we'd have bought the ink on line. But if you just need to pick something up on the go this place seems to be a good place to buy. I can't find any help with the store staff so its better if you already know exactly what you need to get. The place seemed pretty large so they seemed to have inventory well stocked. read more
