If you like being scammed definitely come to this store. My Dad went to this store to get a new phone and walked out with a new phone, multiple service add ons he doesn't need (like mobile hotspot or Verizon storage), and didn't know he signed up for. He also somehow ended up with two new phone lines. All of which of course was now being charged monthly. I stopped by the store to complain in person but the doors were locked during regular business hours, so had to call Verizon to get it all reversed. After an hour on the phone with Verizon finally had everything removed. Just pure scams being run at this store. read more

Scam Artist. Went in to pick up an "in stock" watch. Which wasn't in stock. Fine, ERP systems aren't perfect. The lady says she can order the watch to be shipped to the store AS AN UPGRADE. We green light her to do so. Come back in to pick up the watch a few days later. Get charged $29.99 for a "set up fee" but the guy wants to close the store, so he doesn't actually set up the watch. Fine. I can deal with $30 at least everything is all good now. Turns out she ordered the watch as an additional line. Shot my bill up by over $150/month. I've now spent two months trying to get Verizon to correct my bill. Hope she got a great commission! read more

I want to first acknowledge my sales rep, Sophia. Although she was new, she was very helpful and did everything in her power to give us good service. Unfortunately, she had to be on the phone all the time with her Manager Anthony to walk her through the process. My complaint is as follows. First - WAY understaffed. Other than Sophia, there was one other employee and he decided to take a 30-minute break when there were customers waiting for help. Several walked out in frustration. The bigger item are the extra charges which were never disclosed to me until after they were charged. 1) They charged me $10 over the Verizon price for each of two phones. 2) They charged me $39.99 for "Set Up and Go Service" when I just took the phones with me and no setup was completed. 3) They charged me $10 per line as a "Remaining Phone Balance" when the lines I replaced were originally purchased via cash (no 36-month contract). These may not seem like big items, but they repeated all three charges for two lines, so I was over charged $120 total. When I went back in to discuss this, no managers were available, and a random rep told me "The Setup and Go charge is to review your account and set it up. Even Verizon Corporate charges to setup the phone." I checked with Verizon Corporate and they said they only charge if they setup the phone for me. If I just take it, no charge. That rep also told me "I must have had a remaining charge as they can't add that to my account." Again, Verizon Corporate couldn't see where I had any remaining balances. If you must buy a phone from this location, take care of it on-line so they don't over charge you! read more

Way understaffed. One person on the floor and another guy sitting in the office in the back. I came in to buy a new iPhone 16 Pro. $1000. Had an appointment. Phone says "In Stock" Waited an hour and five minutes before somebody could help me. And the employee had a total attitude. There was an elderly couple and they were a bit confused. Was rude to them. The guy gets to me. No "Sorry for wait" etc. Tells me the phone is not in stock. But has a phone in hand and starts processing and tells me "this one will be fine". So I tell him no thank you. There was another couple that came in to pick up a phone and he tells them it will be an hour. The gentlemen smiled and said all we're doing is picking up a phone. And the is customer told he will have to wait an hour. They left upset. Of the six or seven customers that came in all of them were disgruntled and upset. read more

Do not go to this store. Nothing I was told regarding the trade in value of my phone was true. I was told the phone came with a free watch and a free tablet. I paid the price I was told for the phone. When the bill came, I was charged the full cost of phone (no credit given for either trade in or partial payment) the watch and the tablet. When I went in to have the mistakes corrected the person was rude and told me I would have to call customer service because he was not going to discuss the situation. I spent over an hour on the phone only to be told I would need to go to the store to resolve . The other reviews that describe the store as understaffed, unethical and routinely taking advantage of older people seem, unfortunately, to be true. read more

Store manager Cedar Snider is as shady as they come...totally unethical...treats elderly customers like they are less than and when I took my Dad back in twice the week afterward of his first attempt with her to get a new phone on his own it became clear that this store does not care about its customers... My Dad initially went in for phone replacement as his 10 year old smart phone completely died... Cedar sold him on a new Motorola claiming it would be similar to his old phone but it wasn't anywhere close and was too confusing for my Dad... She charged him a $25 phone set up fee and she didn't even get the phone set up for him...and a $55 fee for a screen protector which wasn't even the right protector for the new phone... So he calls me to take him back in to help him...we get there first thing in the morning and they have a newer employee who has no clue what he was doing and he was the only one there so no one to train or help him help us...we still couldn't get the phone working and alls he could offer was a refund but he said that he couldn't even do that because he didn't know how to process a refund... So we ended up coming back a 3rd time today... This time the shady Cedar Snider was there again along with the employee who didn't know what he was doing the last time...Cedar was extremely condescending and totally unhelpful...we decided we wanted to turn in the Motorola phone she had set him up with 2 visits ago and look at getting a basic flip phone... She proceeds to tell me there is a $50 restocking fee for the Motorola...at first I'm like that's ridiculous but whatever ....the cost of doing business with Verizon these days but while I was thinking about it waiting on her to get her act together I realized how ludicrous it is that there's a $50 restocking fee for a phone that was free in the first place , we got it free since my dad hadn't been given a phone for 10 years...shady Cedar digs in and says there's no way around the fee I said give me a break...that my dad could just buy the new flip phone as he will have to anyway ....hold on to the Motorola he doesn't like and resell it online...at first cedar still dug in about the fee but eventually back tracks and starts to tell me what I already tried telling her multiple times that my Dad could hold on to the Motorola and resell it later to avoid the fee... Now trying to get dear Cedar to give us info on available flip phones for my dad was like pulling teeth...finally got her to confirm they have one kind in stock and that we would have to wait 10 minutes while the time lock on her safe disengages... Meanwhile while we are waiting another customer walks in...instead of having the other employee take the other customer cedar proceeds to help her leaving us waiting and waiting and waiting....then when she finally wraps it up with the lady she takes a phone call which she was on for at least 15 minutes...finally she gets back to us and brings the New flip phone out for us to look at... Again she was very unhelpful and condescending when we were trying to ask questions about the phone...we finally decided let's just do it while we are here ...the phone was like $130 no promotions on flip phones according to dear Cedar... Before processing the purchase I asked Cedar to explain why our bill had gone up over $20 last month...again she was no help and had an attitude about it...she didn't know how to read a bill on her computer so she made me bring up my bill in my Verizon app...but even in doing that she still couldn't answer the question... finally frustrated with her total lack of knowledge and horrible customer service skills I told her to just activate my dads phone to which she got huffy with me trying to say I was being mean and I had no right to be that way....mind you I had been biting my tongue through all these interactions to keep from being mean so I responded that all I did was tell you to activate my dads phone..if you think that was rude then you are in the wrong job field of customer service as you clearly can't handle the basics... She proceeds to tell us to get away from the front counter and go sit down...guess it makes her feel good bossing around an 85 year old man who can barely walk and his son... I proceed to say worst customer service as we walk back to seats across the room at a table to which she has a bitch fit and said what did you just say to me what did you just say!! I've got it all in camera and I can have your account flagged ...to which I said I don't even think you heard what I said but go ahead and check your cameras but she didn't... I want to make it clear that this is a review of this specific store, not of Verizon itself. The lack of customer service and lack of full disclosure was very disturbing. I went there needing a new phone and was told if I signed a new 3 year contract I would get the phone and a smart watch and my monthly payment would be very close to what it had been (approximately $69). When I pressed for the exact amount, I was told by the manager that they couldn't say exactly but it would be VERY close. There were other costs like tax on the items and this was fair. I did receive the new phone and smart watch but my monthly payment went up nearly double! When I went back to the store, the manager told me that somehow the credits didn't get applied and he would get back to me when his account manager got back to him at the end of the week. I did not hear from him so I called at the end of the week and he said he was still waiting for the account manager and would call me. He never did and after a week I realized I was going nowhere dealing with him. I took part in a Verizon survey and upon seeing my review, an account manager got back to me. I told him the problem and he helped the manager apply some credits. This helped fray the cost of one bill, but did nothing for following bills. When I asked him for details on what the coming amounts would be, he did not answer. I followed up twice asking for an answer, but he was unresponsive! Three times I reached out to him with no response. Pretty shocking since he'd stated earlier that customer service was very important to them. I finally reached out to Verizon itself where the service was excellent. I was on the phone for at least an hour and the representative went over every inch of the bill with me. He finally got my monthly payment down to approximately $79.00 a month - something the Victra store should have done all along. I would recommend anyone looking for a new plan go somewhere else and avoid a lot of aggravation!! read more

I have dealt with cellphone companies when cell phones were first invented. We switched to Verizon because of a promotion that was being advertised. My husband went into the store - spoke with guy named Mike who said what our monthly charges would be and the promotion for new phones and watch. We were opening a business account. We spent 2 1/2 hours in the store, - paid upfront fees of $302. A week later received a notice that our phones were being turned off for non payment. Spending close to 10 hours on the phone while we were on a trip to NY - did nothing to rectify the situation. If we paid a portion of- $39 we would be off the hook. We paid the $39 and then the same bill as previously sent was sent again for payment. All charges were incorrect including 2 extra lines that were put on the account that we did not know about. Spoke to a salesperson manager and gave her all the info 2 weeks ago with no response. She said corporate hadn't gotten back to her to answer any of the questions on my account. Even said we didn't return our phones - which were downloaded to the new phones and left them with the sales guy Mike. Monday I spent 2 hours in the store trying to figure this thing out and today I am on the phone right now - again to correct what was supposed to be completed on Monday. If this is not corrected today - I will cancel our account and bring some kind of suit against this company. My blood pressure goes up every time I have to talk to these people. I have had it. I ordered a phone through Verizon on line and made the awful mistake of choosing to pick up at thus location. They ended up creating a whole new contract and signed up for additional insurance. They completely lied about everything. We ended up returning the phone and was charged a $50.00 restock fee. But the worst was they even charged $25.00 additional for new phone set up. Alright... so I normally do lots of research before buying a new phone and switching plans. However, the person I worked with gave us an unbelievable deal. It sounded too good to be true, but he wrote down the numbers, saying that if we upgraded from our old family plan to the new EDGE plan, our bill would only go up about ~30$. In addition, he would upgrade my dad's basic phone to an iPhone 5S for free, my sister's iPhone 5S to a 6 for nearly free, and my iPhone 5 to a 6 for cheap (after rebates and such). He also threw in cases for all of us, which persuaded us even more. So, by the time our bill comes, it's nearly 400$ because he didn't let us know about the upgrade fees and additional taxes. That was understandable. But then the following month, our bill came out to be around 264$, which was twice what the salesperson said it'd increase. I ended up going to a different Verizon store so they could go over the bill with me, and that was when I found out this location isn't a "real" Verizon Store. They're simply a licensed retailer so they don't factor in all the details. They're really just out to try to sell you products. It's really frustrating because there's nothing I can do about it since they're not an actual Verizon Store and I can't reverse my upgraded plan since it's outdated. I had an excellent experience here. My daughter's phone was not working and Ray spent a large amount of time with us to make sure our issues were resolved and offering us excellent solutions. At one point, Ray could have just given us an 800 number, however, Ray called for us, waited on hold, and waited for our problems to be solved. This store has had problems keeping the store staffed with trained employees but Cedar has gone out of her way to make sure me and my family have been heard and taken care of. She has a ton of patience and is willing to spend time explaining how to use the phone to my parents who are not very tech savvy. Nice representative but completely unable to help our broken phone. My daughter waited in the store 2 hours for a 30 second answer, your phone has an internal software glitch- apples fault but since it's 2 years old, you are out of luck. By the way, insurance doesn't cover this. Ended up spending 2 hours on the 800 line and buying an entirely new phone. Had to pick up the online order at this store, it wasn't ready, and took awhile. The problem with this specific store was the rip off phone case and screen protector. On Amazon the case and protector were $22- the store charged $115- NO JOKE. Seriously! TIPS 1) the insurance covers breaks and lost phones, not internal problems. The deductible is $250 and covers the same phone you have, not a new one. 2) the buy back amount is assigned 1-2 months after the phone is mailed back. In the meantime, you pay for the replacement phone. The amount is is UP TO the amount offered, OFTEN LESS. 3) the buy back amount is delivered over 36 months. You are getting a monthly credit for the old phone applied to the cost of the new phone. 4) if you leave Verizon or need another phone during the 3 years, you no longer get the buy back monthly credits for the old phone. You do have to finish any payments for the new one. 5) you're going to be stuck with stupid fees, repayments, etc. they're always 1 step ahead with a new scheme. 6) buy extras on Amazon 7) the Verizon store on Nobel is better. read more

I would give it a zero if I could. After having many professional customer service experiences in the past at this Verizon location, there is a new manager at this Pearl Street store in La Jolla. Absolutely- stay away! This is by far the coldest, most impersonal, difficult employee that I have ever interacted with. First, as a "manager " she is unresponsive, choosing to leave a conversation while we were purchasing new phones to eat her lunch or finish her birthday cake during a transaction ( on two separate occasions). I have never experienced such unprofessional and downright rude behavior. Also, she threatened me when I suggested that there was a defect in an accessory product that she had previously sold us a month earlier. I actually worked with the staff from this store when they were set up at Comic Con. I had not wanted to upgrade to a smart phone, but truth is my mobile telephone was dying and I was going to have to do something soon. I got to chit chatting with the staff at this booth and said I didn't want to upgrade to a smart phone because I didn't want to be dropping $70 as month for a telephone! The guy there, Tim, said that it wouldn't be that much and asked me some questions about my usage, did some computer stuff and told me I could have an iPhone 4 (I did NOT want an iPhone but as we talked I started thinking what the heck... maybe it's time to visit the dark side) and it would only be $55 per month. He said I would be able to continue to get my discount (from my employment) and would have the same amount of talking, 2G of data, but I would only have 500 texts instead of unlimited. I was okay with that because I don't do any crazy amount of texting anyway. They also threw a bunch of freebies at me, but they didn't have any cases I cared for so they told me to come back the next day when the i4 cases would be there. I did it. I upgraded. I also decided it was the right thing. I did end up going back a couple of times... they never did get those cases so i did end up getting just a plan black case from them and then I headed home. That is where all hell broke loose. I just happened to check my bill... which just happened to bill the day he sold me the telephone so my new costs were there. $75!!!!!!!! For one month! That is a little more than the $55 he told me. I called Verizon to ask questions, which is when I realized that this guy wasn't actually a Verizon employee, but a different company 4G Wireless is NOT Verizon and that he not only lied about what he sold me, but he also put me on a plan for PEOPLE WHO ARE OVER 65 YEARS OLD, that I don't even qualify for. That plan was only 200 minutes of talk time!!! I use more than that in a month now! Plus the Verizon lady said i was not eligible to have that plan. She recommended I go to the store and have my contract cancelled and return to my old plan. The problem was I didn't want to drive to La Jolla, so I looked up the local 4G Wireless store in Escondido and went there instead. This review is NOT for that store, but I will say that they were friendly and helpful even though I was flipping out on them and they did help me find a resolution which was a promo plan that gives me unlimited talk and text and 2G of data for $60 a month. Still more than I wanted to go, but less than the $75! If this plan existed, why the hell did Tim sign me up the way he did for a plan I wasn't eligible for that wasn't going to give me what I needed and LIED... outright LIED about how much it is going to cost me per month. I wanted to just buy the phone outright and keep my current plan, but I was promised by the workers that if I went on the phone payment plan and changed my plan to the "flex" plan, that my monthly bill would only be $5 more a month. So I bought the $300 total care package to obtain my phone, and assumed my monthly plan would go from $105 to $110, like I was promised. Sounded too good to be true, and it was... My bill is now $138 a month. Over two years, that comes to $600 more payments then I was told I was going to have to make. Oh, and the return policy is 14 days, so I can't return my phone. I called Verizon, and they said that this store is a Verizon retailer, not officially a Verizon store, and that I was blatantly given false information. DO NOT GO HERE! YOU WILL BE SCAMMED. Super shady location. DO NOT GO. My mom got shafted by going here and now my brother and I had to clean up the hot mess that this location created. Completely unethical sales practices here. Below are some examples: 1. My mother was informed that we would receive "free" accessories. We later found out that it was $306.30 worth of accessories charged to our account. We found out that the "rebate" we were to receive for a new phone was ONLY to be used on accessories and was not a cash back rebate. This was discovered AFTER the purchase. 2. The sales rep failed to mention that several cell phones had payments left on the phones. Those facts were omitted in discussions prior to the purchase of an upgraded phone. This ultimately led to hours of phone discussions with Verizon reps to understand why we were unable to return old phones (the corporate Verizon reps could not see the phone in the system), only to later to find out that costs were still left to pay for the old phone. After spending an extended period of time trying to figure out the issue, the rep admitted that he forgot to mention that the previous phone needed to be paid out before returning. My brother, who is in residency right now, was dealing with this issue for 3 hours on his ONE day off of an intense shift at the hospital. That's not including the other times he had to go in to this store or talk to Verizon corporate. 3. The sales rep tried to enforce a mandatory insurance policy which would require insurance on all our phones. My mother agreed to this because they said it was mandatory, however, after purchasing, she asked around. My mother spoke with another Verizon store which confirmed that this was not a mandatory Verizon policy. 4. There are also multiple indiscretions that occurred during this entire transaction. Super sketch stuff that TWO LEGITIMATE Verizon store representatives stated was sketchy. Make sure that you go to a LEGITIMATE Verizon store. THIS IS NOT A LEGITIMATE VERIZON STORE. DID YOU KNOW? - That over 58% of the yelp reviews were negative with one star or even less (if they could). - That the reviews range from months to years so it shows that the reputation of this store has been negative for quite some time. - That the common trend is that this store is full of cheats, liars, and questionable ethics. - That there are 17 complaints from this past year alone! My mother wanted to surprise me with my phone ready for activation upon my return from being stationed overseas but unfortunately, instead of enjoying my time back and situating my life in California, I was stuck trying to untangle this mess Pearl St. office has created. This dispute has led to over 6 visits to the store (lasting hours each visit), multiple un-returned phone calls and numerous calls to the Verizon help center. We finally got it settled. Let's just say that my family and I are less than pleased. Corporate was contacted and they fixed it. Wish I saw the Yelp page and warned my mom but I was unfortunately not here. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My weekend trip to La Jolla was at jeopardy of becoming a disaster when my phone decided to take a dive into the sink and go for a swim. As I was panicking and thinking I'm about to lose a client I came down to meet, I saw the Verizon store in the distance and made a run for it. Usually phone stores and I do not get along and the experience of dealing with one is as bad as going to the DMV or pulling teeth. Preparing for a long waiting list and rude employees I went in with my defensive guard up hoping I can survive this emergency situation. To my surprise I was greeted with smiles and no waiting list. I was helped by the tall manager named Chris and he ensured me I will be connected to the world in no time. After going thru my account info I was set up with a new phone right away(it was time for me to upgrade anyway) and on my way to meet my client. I'm not sure if I was lucky to be at the right Verizon store at the right time or if great karma had finally caught up with me but I wish I was living in San Diego so I can make this my home Verizon store. read more

I bought a phone and was charged a "Set Up and Go Plus" fee of $19.99. I did not notice the charge (it was not mentioned to me) until I got home. When I called and asked about this suspicious fee, it was described to me as a "mandatory" cost for evaluating my account and doing an upgrade. Apparently payment also entitles me to go to the store and have any future problems resolved. I have exactly zero need for that service and it was not offered to me, it was surreptitiously sold to me. First of all, this fee does not go to Verizon. It goes to this retailer. So it's not really "mandatory." Maybe they don't understand what the word "mandatory" means. For example, sales tax is mandatory. This fee is just a money grab. Second, even if there had been an evaluation of my account, why is that something I should pay for? If it were up to me I would grab a phone from the shelf, pay for it, and leave. Anyway, in this case I was just replacing a lost phone with exactly the same model. I paid off the cost of the lost phone and bought a replacement. There was no evaluation or analysis needed. Third, let's consider the name of the "Set Up and Go Plus" fee. What's the "Go" refer to? I'm paying a fee to go? To go where? And what's the "Plus?" Plus what? Plus twenty dollars, I guess. It seems to me that the fee is really $20 for "Setup." But what am I paying these people $20 to setup? Well, let's see here... they did NOT setup my email or my voicemail or my apps. I did that myself at home. I guess they "setup" my Verizon account to recognize that this new phone is attached to my account. I'm just guessing, by the way. But, hey, isn't that part of my monthly fee that Verizon charges? And shouldn't this place warn you that they're going to charge you $20 to sell you a phone? My chief complaint is that they hid this fee from me. My second complaint is that the fee is for a service that was not performed and has zero value to me. Finally, I will add that I am aware of other unpleasant experiences at this location. They use double talk and high pressure tactics to sell extra lines and unnecessary (crappy) devices. They then sell insurance on the unnecessary devices. I was told that there is now a new owner, so maybe things will change. However, my first experience with this new owner is this RIP OFF CHARGE, so I'm not holding out much hope. read more

I highly recommend visiting this location and working with Mark Silberstein. Last week I broke the screen on my iphone 5 and knew I didn't want to pay to replace the screen when I was up for an upgrade in less than 2 months. Mark was able to get me an early upgrade to the iphone 6 with the new "verizon edge" plan for about $150 (after taxes). Mark was extremely efficient and had me in and out of Verizon in less than 30 minutes with my new phone! He quickly installed the clear screen protector, my new case and had everything set up and ready to go in no time flat. I couldn't have asked for a better experience when every other Verizon store I have been to has been chaotic (Mission Valley location) and time consuming (Kearny Mesa location). They are not an actual Verizon store... they will tack on extra charges to your credit card (like insurance you don't need or want because you already have AppleCare) without your authorization. When you call Verizon Customer Service, they won't be able to help because this store isn't a real Verizon store, they're just an independent retailer who doesn't have to answer to anyone. They put charged my credit card several times for insurance I didn't order or want, and of course they won't cancel it. They say I have to call yet another company, some insurance company and deal with them. Been on hold now for 20 minutes. DO NOT SHOP HERE, JUST GO DIRECTLY TO APPLE OR A LEGIT VERIZON STORE. read more

Went in over the weekend and the reps were courteous, professional and patient! The rep worked with the Verizon Corporate Rep on the phone for over 1-Hour as he had us jumping through hoops like they always do to get anything done. Corporate agent was unprofessional and the 4G Wireless Rep had me sit down and asked me to relax while he handled it. WOW! That was awesome service and he got a replacement phone confirmed for next day delivery. I would recommend these guys to anyone. read more

This place is the best verizon store to go to!! I have been a verizon customer for over 15 years and never experience service like this. They are so attentive and patient with all my cell phone issues. Usually I dread going to the cell phone store because the wait is forever and customer service is a hit or miss but this location goes above and beyond to keep their clients happy.
