Mauriece was the sales associate who assisted me and was absolutely wonderful. He was not only very friendly and polite, but assisted me through the whole process by helping me determine the option that made the most sense for my upgrade/budget/etc. Also, I was in and out within 1 hour, and it was about 5pm on a Sunday. We got down to business and after discussing what I wanted something told me I would be happier going to the Apple Store. Unless I have a billing issue I think I'll avoid going to any Verizon Store. Be careful of what they are promising. A Verizon agent, Joseph came to my house, proposed me the service for a $45 and a 30-day trial, but the bill showed $74.99. I called and canceled the account, returned the equipment before the end of the 30 days. 3 months later I sent me to collection for a bill of $125.11. I should have came here before I went to this store. I upgraded my iPhone and requested to pick it up at this store (mistake number 1). When I came here, I was greeted by Dwight, who as I walked in said something nasty and disrespectful to a customer who walked out. He then was very cold, telling me and the person in front of me, "sign in"... no greeting like "Hello and Welcome to Verizon." What kind of customer service is this? Does he not want a job? When he came to me, again no greeting or even introduction of who he was, I let him know I was picking up my phone and he said, "oh you don't have to sign in. Just wait here and then you can go." RUDE! He threw me my phone without a thank you or anything. I was considering getting a case, and asking assistance to set my new phone up. He said it would be $30 in a tone that came off as condescending. When I said I would wait, he said that it would be a long wait and suggested I go to another store. What kind of service is this? I had a horrendous experience at your retail store on East 86th Street in NYC. I have been a customer for 20 years. I stay with Verizon because of good customer service. I waited 30 minutes. When i go in to get my screen saver changed and am told that it is $30, it makes me want to leave you forever. 5 minutes of work for $30 = $600 a hour -- are you kidding me? I have used this location several times in the last 2 years, and have had the same person Marcus. He is great, able to solve problems in the moment, with a great attitude. He helped me pick out best options with multiple lines for my family of 4. It is pretty rare to see the good ones stay any where in retail these days. Then when I asked why I was skipped and laid my phone on the counter and asked for a manager this person identified herself as the manager asked for my phone. My phone stopped working last Friday, May 1st, so I went to inquire about getting it fixed or buying a new phone. Upon entering the E. 86th Street Verizon store, one of the techs on duty was more concerned about getting to his breakfast, which was sitting on the counter meant for customers. I started to explain my issue, but he cut me off and said I needed a new phone. I asked him if could at least take a look at it, but he declined and preceded to getting his breakfast out. I asked what my options were and he said I needed to order a phone online, that he could not help me. I then tried to pay my bill and was nearly pounced on by a 2nd tech who was shouting at me that I could not touch the screen. I explained that I just wanted to pay my bill while there and he told me I could not. He did not offer to help either as I know they can take payments on their handheld devices. I realize these are strenuous times for us all, but I was in dire straights, unable to make any calls, which is required by my job, but both techs on duty were extremely rude and dismissive. I noted that I would be seeking a new carrier following this experience. They said 'Go ahead, that's fine' and then proceeded to send me off with a 'stay safe out there' comment, which was condescending and insincere. I changed to AT&T the following day after being a longtime Verizon customer of over 20 years. read more

After being told by a Verizon Fios representative that I could return my equipment at any Verizon location (I asked again to verify it could be returned at ANY location and she assured it me it could) I was told I could not return it at this store. When I explained this to one of the three "bros" working here they mocked me for being slightly irritated and then sent me to the wrong location (35th and 2nd...which was actually located on 35th and 3rd which was relocated to 31st and 2nd ave). Let me start off by saying something nice. The sales/service team at Verizon on the phone are excellent. They were knowledgeable, efficient, nice and courteous. My experience on the phone was extremely positive. Then there's the in store staff. They are nasty, provided incorrect information and made me want to go next door to T-Mobile. Do not go in the store if you need any assistance...do everything on the phone. After I completed my order on the phone, I was able to pick up my new phone at the store through their automated system, where I put in my info and it opened a locked compartment with my new phone....I was so happy I didn't have to interact with their incompetent employees. read more

Came in because I had lost my phone, and the sim card needed to be activated on my new one. The sales associate, June, rolled her eyes at me when I asked her to repeat something. I am hearing impaired, and we are wearing masks and have plexiglass dividers. I am fine with taking precautions, but you need to have patience with people who are disabled. After offering no help, I literally had to call customer service from the associate's personal phone. Was hung up on after 30 minutes of waiting. Was then pushed to the back of the store, where I had to stand for over an hour while on hold with tech support AGAIN using a landline phone. Wasn't even offered a chair. All other associates where on their phones, not helping me, apparently oblivious that I had been struggling for help, and despite having been in the store for over 2 hours at this point. They told me they couldn't help and I needed to go to Apple (why does Apple need to activate a Verizon sim card?). After standing for 2 hours and having eyes rolled at me, wouldn't I be annoyed? Luckily the Apple store is nearby, so I went there, and they confirmed what I knew to be true, which was that Verizon had to activate my phone number. Apple and the insurance company has 0 control over flags on a phone number. Apple let me call Verizon from their phones, and I finally got connected to someone who could help me at Verizon, after spending 5 hours on my day off in the store. This was also after 3 days with no phone, and 2 hours the night before because Verizon tech support ends at 9pm EST. The worst service I have ever received, and I recommend going else where. Heavily varies on a shift - every time I appear in the shop during early afternoon - it's always the same incompetence, rudeness, ignorance and laziness. Associates see you at the front of the store and they're literally struggle of pain and laziness to come by and ask. I hope management reads the reviews and will take required measures. I'm overall satisfied long-time Verizon customer, but this shop makes me feel abolished. However late afternoon shift are almost great - Jerry - is great guy and quite accommodating, as well as his manager. On planet is it fine to refuse to issue a refund with all proper papers during midday shift and make it a pleasant experience with late afternoon? This Verizon location was recently renovated and the setup more customer friendly. I came here not too long ago to upgrade my phone and go over my plan. The sales rep who helped me was pretty thorough and spent quite a lot of time helping me pick out my new phone, and then setting it up for me. No hard pressure pitch or trying to rush me out. Showed me a bunch of accessories too but again let me choose what I really needed and was a terrific help. Lots of phone options here to choose from, friendly service, knowledgeable, and close to the subway. I'm definitely a fan of this location. read more

Friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff---I even watched one guy tutor a woman on how to use her Blackberry...and apparently she has a standing weekly appointment with him! The wait is rather quick and the customer service is the best I've ever seen in any kind of store that offers service. During my 30 day "worry free guarantee" when I all I did was worry ("Should I keep this Blackberry Storm or get the iPhone?!?"), this Verizon heard my pain and suffering and gave me a new Storm after going through hell with the 2 week old device---if that's how that thing behaved after 2 weeks, what would it have been like in 2 years?!? Probably just a lazy staff, first person to talk to us definitely gave the impression it was actually something we could do in the store, as did a verizon shop near my work. Unfortunately, I can't give 0 stars. Going to this Verizon store on 8/10/2015 was one of the most infuriating experiences of my life. The salesman (I understand he's a salesman) was very pushy and would not take no for an answer until I had to politely tell him that I really was not interested. He kept stressing how good of a deal I was missing out on even though I was persistent in telling him no. My politeness ran thin after minute 45 of picking up an online order when I let him know that I needed to leave and I again wasn't interested in anything else. He made me speak to a manager since I was missing out on "such a good deal." All in all, I had to spend one hour in the store telling someone no. Also, I'm not saying that this store was sexist, but the minute my boyfriend appeared, I was taken a lot more seriously. So that was nice. Being talked down to and being pressured because I am a woman. I understand how Verizon employee commission scales work (I did my research even though I'm apparently too dumb to understand a good deal), but this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had! read more

I shouldn't even bother writing a review because it will fall on deaf ears at Verizon but I do it for all of the people who deserve to know how incredibly poor the customer service is in not one but three locations. The first location on the UES near Bloomingdale's said that they couldn't talk to me unless I had an appointment even though there was only one person in the store. So, I walked out without any service! I then made an appt. for an UWS location a few days later and then the day before the appt. I received a notice that the appt. had been cancelled. No explanation just cancelled. Not being deterred, I made another appt. at the 86th Street UES location to be "GREETED" - a very loose term - by a CS rep. whose name is Rose! The only service she was serving me was her major attitude. She didn't want to be bothered by me and didn't like that I didn't appreciate her lack of support - with that she instructed security to escort me out! The security guard stayed somewhat neutral while trying to pacify her. And, when I called her on her attitude, she called the manager to have me thrown out and only spoke to him in Spanish - even though - I think we are in the US! She then went to the back to discuss the "PROBLEM" (me) while the other CS rep. was nice enough to come over and answer some questions. I asked if he could access my account and he said no because she locked it so nobody except the manager could help. When she came back she was clearly annoyed that the other CS rep. was talking to me and started mouthing off to him and the security guard. He told me to ignore her as that was what he was doing! Why is this person allowed to treat people that are customers with such disrespect and rudeness? She has no business being the face of Verizon. I choose Verizon, Verizon doesn't choose me! After a year with T-Mobile sticking it to from day one, and before them Sprint with their terrible data coverage, I decided to go back to Verizon. Mainly because they have the best data coverage and they bought my iPhone 7 34g for $305. (trade-in). I pre-ordered the iPhone X 64g (lease option deal) on line for only $88. down. What a deal!! I have no problems with my iPhone X, and I'll stay with Verizon. I've never been inside this particular store, yet, but I will conduct my business at this location if I do need to tangibly go into a store. read more

I came in after receiving an e-mail stating I qualified for an Upgrade. I verified through the Verizon App that I did qualify. Upon entering the store, no one acknowledged/greeted myself nor my husband. It was about 6:45PM and the store closes at 8, it wasn't busy nor crowded. There were three other woman standing around, waiting for someone to acknowledge or greet us. One woman approached a young lady who put her own iPhone down to force out a, "Hello, how can I help you?" The woman stated her reason for being in the store, the young lady replied with, "It'll be about an hour wait, that okay?" I looked around the empty store confused. The lady declined to stay and she left. The next woman then explained her problem with the iPhone she recently purchased. She was very detailed about how the phone randomly calls 911 emergency services and then she needed to call 911 the previous day, the phone didn't dial 911. She was very worried about this potential glitch and wanted assistance. Quickly the Verizon Rep referred her to go to Apple to have them check out her phone. (I wonder why the rep didn't offer assistance nor look though her phone or add her name to the (hour long) list to have another rep help her out.) The woman reluctantly accepted the answer the rep gave her and left the store. Now it was my turn, once again the rep informed me of the hour long wait. I agreed and asked how many people were working she said there were only three associates, but I counted 5 in the grey Verizon sweaters. In about 15 minutes my name was called (this was a relief - I was seen sooner than expected. YAY!) The rep asked me for my cell number, and she checked my ID to verify my identity. I told her I wanted to upgrade quickly she responded while looking at the tablet, "You didn't qualify for an upgrade because you are on a contract." Im not on a contract and I do quality because the APP says I do and the e-mail from Verizon confirmed it. I question her about the email and showed her what I received. She looked back to the tablet she was holding and said, "Oh.... okay, yeah...you do. Which phone do you want?" From this I felt like she didn't want to help me. She didn't thoroughly check my account - she wrote me off and in her voice you could feel the dread pouring through her words. I proceed with telling her I want an iPhone but first I'd like to see them before making decision on which one I'd like to purchase. "Unfortunately, We don't have any iPhone's on display." My husband interjected, "Yes you do. They're over there." The woman responded with, "Oh, I didn't know." My husband led me over to the display, the rep dragged her feet and slowly followed us. The questions I asked she seemed as if I were bothering her. I decided upon an iPhone X. She asked if I had backed up my device, which I hadn't. She helped me in initiating a back up. While the phone was backing up another (male) rep came over and told her to 'hurry up because the system is glitching' and he didn't want her having an issue with completing the sale. His one line seemed like he was trying to rush the rep to close the sale. The time is about 7:20 PM and there is 40 minutes until the store is due to close and she was looking at her phone periodically checking the time. About 2 minutes later the male returned and asked, "What we doing here?" the woman assisting me replied saying were backing up my phone. He tightened his lips and shook his head. "That may take a while, I think you should go home and back it up then come back tomorrow." Hmmmm, now I KNOW they were rushing me out of the store. I agreed to go home and said to my husband that I could go to another Verizon store the next day. The thanked me for my time and walked me to the door. we left about 7:35PM. NEVER again will I step foot into this store. Verizon is so proud of their customer satisfaction surveys, and looking at the other Yelp reviews I don't know how they still pull stuff like this off. This place is awful. The service sucks - the reps were literally telling customers there was an hour wait just to have them leave and those who stayed (like myself) were mistreated.
