We've lived in FiDI for almost 5 years now, and the Wall St. Verizon store lives up to its reputation as the THE WORST Verizon store in all of Manhattan. This is what happened. We went in to ask for refund for an activation charge (had called VW.com to get the refund okayed) and when we walked in to start the process, the incredibly rude manager there flat out refused, even lying about Verizon's own policy. Her "position" (more like confrontation) was that all phones had to be immediately activated in the store (i.e., no option of activating online.) The problem is that this "store policy" is just not true. ALL new Verizon customers have 30 days to activate the phone after purchasing, and you can do so online to get the activation fee waived. How do I know? I actually called Verizon's national line while I was in the store! I got a rep on the phone, and verified that 1) we do have an option 2) all customers (no matter where they bought the phone) has 30 days to activate 3) you do NOT have to activate on the spot. When I challenged the manager with this information, she raised her voice, stuck her neck out, and kept repeating the point that because someone already "helped" me to activate in store, she was not going to refund us a cent. When I told her that option should have been clearly explained, she actually said "obviously you came into the store to buy the phone, so what's the problem?" Even when I got the manager to speak to the Verizon rep on the line, she barked into the phone "have you ever worked in a Verizon store?" and started to argue with Verizon's own customer rep! Later the phone rep. profusely apologized, admitted the manager was unprofessional, and refunded us the activation fee. (Her quote "I'm sorry about this - all of us work really hard at pleasing our customers, but sometimes one person ruins it all for the rest of us" - couldn't have said that better myself.) The store manager however was still beligerent, leaving us with "do you want to escalate to the district manager? Go ahead - here's her number" and scribbled her apparent boss' name on a business card before throwing it on the counter. So whatever you do, AVOID this store like the plague. This store leaves us with a bad feeling EVERY time we pass by. I don't think there is anyone there who actually cares a bit about how a customer may feel or look at a situation. Especially the assistant manager named "Teresa". And if you go in to dispute a charge or challenge its bogus "store policy", get ready for a battle - this manager will even pick a fight with her company's own customer reps! read more

They didn't question me and exchange it for my new blackberry pearl (that I looove). Ask for Valerie, she was exceptionally helpful and sweet. The kind of service you don't really get anymore. Well I thought I'd learned my lesson, but I guess I didn't---don't carry liquids in your handbag where your phone lives. This time a can of Diet Coke was resting in my bag when it was punctured, spraying everywhere including into my eyes and phone. The phone was done---the battery and inside of the phone both drank some Diet Coke...and when I plugged the phone in to charge, it would begin to boot up and then die. Verizon told me to file an insurance claim, but after calling them once more, they advised me to take it into a retail location for a checkup. Candace, the manager at Verizon, was very nice. She thought the phone was dead too but she humored me and tried a new battery in it. Both she and I were shocked when the phone worked! She advised me to back up all my precious, now safe from Diet Coke, info, programming my phone ot back its numbers up nightly---which will be saved to Verizon's server. Candace also suggested I email myself any texts or photos I'd like to save or go online to the phone's company and see what they had in terms of data storage. I only stay with them, because GRANTED - they have the most consistent nationwide network. But it turns out they, "...re-boot" their systems from time to time, thus causing an occasion account feature to be removed." - VeriZon "Well, how long have you been charging me for that?" The Wait: Note: Due to the strategic nature of where we were situated, we had the luxury of checking the queue in Real-Time as not to freeze in the cold. LOCATION: 100 WALL ST, NY, NY TIME/QUEUE WAITING ON LINE 6:00AM/1 6:10AM/3 6:25AM/7 6:31AM/10 6:35AM/11 6:42AM/12 6:48AM/16 ----us 6:55AM/20 6:59AM/22 12:30PM/10 1:30PM/4 Per VZ the night prior, we were told there would be an early shift of 6:30am-8:30am to accomodate high demand. Doors opened at 6:59am, a minute early. They allowed 8 people in a first, then one in after one out. While on line, there were sidewalk interviews courtesy of TheStreet.com and also handouts of basic information to fill out to make processing go faster (see pic above). Some people were pissed they didn't allow us inside but the Store Manager said it was for security reasons, which is perfectly understandable. The Manager also mentioned that VZ was paying Apple $690 for the 16GB iPhone, meaning they were taking a loss of $41 per phone on it. Of course they would realize gains later due to the 2yr commitment of the unlimited $29.99 data plan, amounting to $719.76 per person over the 2yr span. We thought 583 was 600 counted backwards to signify inventory count but we were wrong. They were hush hush about that. Due to contact xfers, Q&A time, porting and processing time, things naturally took longer. Re: staff, If someone didn't know the answer to your question, it was escalated until you got the right answer. Also, we were told while in line to have our AT&T Account Numbers ready. We would come to find out that would prove handy, as phone activation is immediate and so was the porting. Due to high efficiency, we were out of the store by 8:08AM, 80min later. Not bad. Minus 20min if you only want to active 1 line. As a concession for the cold weather, handwarmers were handed out, even free VZ red beanies. Scenario: USER1 is lazy to wake up early. USER2 is given Account Manager access to USER1's account with secret password and has rights to make changes to the account. Talk about taking one for the team, right? Goal: USER1: 20% corp discount, VZ customer, upgrade eligible, 'New Every Two' $50 credit (current: Blackberry Storm owner on VZ) USER2: 22% corp discount, AT&T customer, 2yr contract over (current: iPhone 3GS owner on AT&T) GOAL: 22% corp discount VZ cheapest FamilyShare plan Outcome: Although we couldn't have our proverbial cake and eat it too, we settled for the 20% corp discount from USER1, since the plan was already under that person's name. To qualify for USER2's 22% corp discount, the account would have to be under that SS#, which would void both phones' Warranty, due to VZ's 'Assumption of Liability' clause. The plus is that since text plans don't count for a corp discount (on AT&T anyway), the inclusion of unlimited texts in our new $99.99 FamilyShare Plan qualified for same. Tack on $29.99 x 2 for data plans and total comes out to ~$160 monthly, before fees/taxes/corp discounts. The FamilyShare Plan is so tempting that at $9.99 for a 3rd line, we are heavily considering adopting a rowdy rugrat or two. You get 14days to check it out. In case you change your mind, there is a $35 restocking fee. First Impressions: OVERALL LAG - there's little to none of that, especially on WiFi. Try downloading an app or two. You'll see what we mean, if you haven't done so already. SIGNAL STRENGTH - Whereas we could get hardly any reception on FL35 of an Office Building with AT&T prior, we now get 3 solid bars with VZ. RETINA DISPLAY - One could swear he/she had cataracts switching from a iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 4. Night and day clarity in pixelation. CUSTOMER SERVICE - These guys really know their stuff and are friendly. The iPhone demo phones were laid out perfectly and ready for consumer abuse. CAMERA FLASH - It is a thing of beauty. Although not fully tested out, when used properly*, we are confident in taking pics in dimly lit Restaurants now. VOICE - crisper than a bucket of KFC! Final thoughts: Whatever you do, don't be trigger happy and take pics w/ your camera Flash On right away, especially before peeling the back plastic piece. That 'Hazy Shade of Winter' is not your Glaucoma, but rather a user error. Yes, TheStreet.com, for the price of a full price Verizon iPhone 4, you can get a ginormous plasma. Yes, we could wait for the AT&T mythical unicon, aka WHITE iPhone4 soon to drop in a few weeks. Yes, we could anticipate a June5-June9 release of the iPhone5 at WWDC. Instead, we chose to have the best of both worlds, NOW. With LTE not fully integrated and NFC technology still in its infancy, it'll be some time before we need an upgrade. This location (100 Wall Street) has the absolute worse customer service. My friend and I were shopping around for new service (she currently has Verizon and the contract was up the next day and she wanted to explore her options) - we walked in on a Friday evening around 6 pm. There were about 6 people working. No one asked us if were being help even though we were looking at phones for a while (keep in mind, we were the ONLY customers there, literally). The 3 CSR's were talking about Pizza.. we finally asked for help and they looked at us as if we should walk over to them.. then when the rep asked one of the girls to look up my friends info she replied, "she's not in a rush." - what's up with that? We walked out. I am sure there are a lot of unemployed people who would appreciate thos people's jobs right now. read more

I came in to change the ownership of the account. The sales rep was super nice and helpful. He would go back and forth between helping me and asking his manager in the office how to go about it, he would always come back just to let me know something is processing or the manager is inquiring about it to keep me updated. In the end it didn't work because the next day my service was cut and I had to call 611 to get it fixed. If you have anything major to do just call 611. read more

I've come here three or four times now for various reasons, but it was my recent trip to replace a defective phone that spurred me to finally reviewing. Here's what I love about this particular Verizon store: everyone is friendly and does their job well, but they're also genuine. You don't get that awful fake sales persona thing that a lot of people who sell for a living tend to cultivate. Some of them are shy nerds. Some of them are loud goofballs. They all do their jobs well and I love 'em for it. They don't creep on you, either--if you need help, you'll probably have to ask for it, but once you do, they're all up on that. They're casual but still professional, and clearly know their products inside and out, which means you actually can ask them for advice on an issue or product and not get that blank stare we're all accustomed to. Today I went in with my new defective Droid 3, and everyone could not have been more helpful. I was helped first by Jasmine in customer service and then Marvin in tech support, both of whom were quiet, fast, and efficient. They decided to just replace the phone, and while they didn't have any in stock, they took care of everything in getting it from the Canal Street store (which I'll be reviewing later). When I left, I had all the information I needed and was able to go to the Canal Street location and get my phone with very little fuss. My only complaint has to do with the store layout. Because it's a small space, the lack of signage indicating where to go for what (ex. tech support being a separate desk from customer service) can lead to some serious confusion. So speak up and ask people, or you'll be wandering around way longer than necessary. read more

It is probably meaningless to put up a negative review involving a behemoth like Verizon, but their incredible lack of customer support recently has moved us to write this review. My family and my businesses have been Verizon customers for many years, using and paying for nine (9) separate lines. In November of 2017 we received and paid by check the statement for $353.09. The check was duly negotiated at our bank. Then in January 2018 Verizon notified us that we still owed the November 2017 statement. That was surprising since the check had cleared, and so I obtained a photocopy of the front and back of the check and provided that to Verizon. Verizon said that the endorsement was not theirs, and that we still owed $353.09, now plus a reinstatement fee for each of our many lines. Apparently our check had been stolen and forged, and my bank was very helpful in addressing the issue. The bank provided me an Affidavit of Check Fraud that only needed a signature from Verizon on the affidavit saying that the endorsement on the reverse of the check was not theirs and that they had not received the funds. I sent the affidavit to Verizon for their signature, however they consistently failed and refused to sign the affidavit. That refusal has resulted in their termination of our service on two occasions and resultant reconnection charges. Over the following months I had numerous telephone contacts with Verizon staff. Each person that I spoke with said that they could and would help with the issue, and would call us back. They never did anything to help us, and we have NEVER received a return call from Verizon. Apparently staff training at Verizon provides guidance on how to be friendly with customers, but not to actually help them. We have switched all of our business to AT&T as a result of these events, and have now paid the charge twice, plus the other fees. This is not the way to treat loyal customers...unless you are so big that you can do so with impunity. The people that I contacted at Verizon, each one of which promised help and further contact and none of whom followed through identified themselves as: Wes, Brian, Mark, Krystal, Harold, Latana, Devine, Juan, Demetrius, Alicia, Jesse, Sam, Anthony, Ladeva, Damian, Maya and Trisha. WENT IN ON VACATION ( I AM FROM CALI) Needed my new phone updated and transferred and they understand the concept of fast service for fast paced New Yorkers, I was in and out within 30 min. Didn't complain since I had an amazing view of the city walkers , the wall street business men and taxis..... I may be biased but 30 min is better than the hour to hour and half I spend at my Verizon store in California when I have to fix something. Do NOT trust the Sales Reps here! I came into the store due to a promotional email i received mentioning discounts on plan pricing but in particular 4 GB of data for $50/mo. I showed this to the Sales Rep and she mentioned everything was good to go. After waiting around for about an hour, she came back saying she could only do 4 GB for $60/mo but I could call Verizon and get the promotional pricing no questions asked. After calling Verizon Customer Care, they mentioned they could only have given me the promotional price at the time the account was opened. At this point they would be unable to give me the price I was promised. They mentioned the sales rep could have called support and gotten everything settled but instead went for the quick commission and essentially screwed me. Not sure if this will happen at every store you go to but I'd steer clear of this location! read more

There is a Verizon location on Second Avenue and East 40's - like 44th or 45th. Was there in August, no air conditioning - burning some scented candle to cover up a stench arising from the back of the location. Had scant time to pay my 'phone bill, which needs to be paid in person - despite buying a nearly $1000.00 'phone - no - they will not mail a monthly invoice. Strange. Only one woman there knew how to receive payment but she was with other customers - and another fellow - extremely inexperienced - was argumentative and difficult and for some reason removed my credit card to the back behind a closed door - when I insisted the transaction take place in front of me - surprisingly - there was a way to do this directly in front of me. People were all related there and spoke a foreign language in front of me - and had little English - Will NEVER use this location again. As with most issues generally about Verizon - spend LOTS of money - get little to no assistance, and poor 'phone service. What a way to run a company - wish for the days of AT & T - at least that monopoly provided 'phones that worked and service that was better than acceptable. read more

Well I went to the store to pay my account because I couldn't do it online because my account got locked. I arrived to the store with my Iphone 6s (finger tip recognition, my passport, two other Id's and my credit card. It was just to reactivate my account and to pay and the manager said to me that that wasn't enough to prove that it was me and pay. I went to the store on 859 Broadway and they fixed the problem within 5 minutes and I was able to change my address with my PASSPORT. They are great The people who works at (100 wall street) this store are ignorant and limited on their training on customer service it was a mindless job and they behaved like if I was stealing my own identity. read more

The representative convinced me to change my plan to one with a higher speed, but did not explain that I would lose my grandfathered benefit (ie: lower bill), and then, on changing back to my old plan(since the new modem would not work), your staff were unable to give me back my old rate.New benefit: none! Net loss: $30/month extra fees. I will add for the record the obvious extra bits about my fixed income, disability, and general lack of expertise with tech (thus requiring honest staff, or at least those who would explain what I would lose in a transaction). As you can see, I am upset. All that said, I have submitted the same review to them, and will change this lemon of a review if they in any way try to help me. read more

I've been going to this location for 10 yrs but have never been happy with my service. Today was the last straw. In the past they have argued with me over upgrade dates (even though I have a Verizon print out of my date), battery replacements, and scores of tech issues. Any time I approach the tech support area I am met with a look that clearly says get lost. They always answer the phone if it rings even if they are in the middle of telling me something or if I'm in the middle of talking If I did that while helping someone I would get fired. They don't even say excuse me before they pick up the phone. Today a woman named Jasmine gave me a horrible runaround and had an atrocious attitude. She clearly did not want to be at work today. She also gave me incorrect info which the Verizon rep on the phone admitted to. The person online in front of me was an older gentleman and they lied to him because he didn't know better. They charged him for services that should be free like transferring contacts to a new phone when the problem with the old phone was a Verizon tech issue under warranty. read more

I called for information about switching from Spectrum to Verizon and got a very pushy sales rep. I said I'd call back with my decision and was transferred to a pushier supervisor. I told him the same thing and he hung up without a goodbye or thank you. Rudeness like this is one of many reasons people dislike Verizon. Early Thanksgiving morning, I found that my internet connection was failing. I could stay online no more than 7 minutes during a session, when I got the message that I was no longer online. The internet icon on the taskbar read "connected" and the modem's lights were all on and steady. I began calling Verizon tech support. I asked each agent if my area had any network problems and also requested that they check my incoming line. None of this happened. I was asked to reset my modem, disconnect and rewire connections, etc. The third agent told me "your modem is overheated" and asked me to use it for no more than 30 minutes, then turn it off. Finally in late afternoon an agent actually listened to me and ordered a line test. Sure enough, the line coming in from Verizon's central office was malfunctioning. Throughout, i told each agent that i am a World Trade Center respiratory patient and that I have run out of medication. I told them that I have been homebound since March and due to the pandemic, converted all my bill payments and medical correspondence to the net. I told them the internet is a lifeline for me. None of this made any difference. My service was not connnected until mid-day Saturday, November 28. THis morning, 11/30, before 9 a,m, I got a call from Verizon asking me if my "ticket" had been answered. Verizon nearly killed me. read more

I don't have a problem with the store itself, just the corporation. If you have a problem, you can't call customer service and the chat application is very ineffective in that they don't resolve your problem because they are experiencing a high volume of persons calling and they didn't want to change the shipping address to my IPHONE7 that I purchase and hung up on me the one time I did get through to them on the phone. They are horrible as far as customer service is a concern. They need to improve their problem resolution issues. I bought an Iphone here. I came back a few hours later after learning Apple was about to release a new Iphone two weeks later. I asked to waive the restocking fee, annoyed that my sales person did not tell me about the soon to be released phones. Not only did they refuse to waive the fee, but I was blamed by the sales person for not knowing. I was told it was "common knowledge." The Verizon store (30 Broad Street) This has to be the best VERIZON store I have ever visited. Both Min & Marco (onsite staff) went above and beyond the typical service I would have expected; knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. I recently purchased an iphone 5 from the the store a few months back - Min & Marco recognized me upon my return to the store; my phone had been stolen and they both diligently tried to help me track down the missing phone (damage control) - they further went above and beyond the traditional service I would have expected by giving me a temporary phone! This store and staff get a 5 RED STARS from me! If anyone is in the downtown area; this is the store you should visit! read more

So My Husband and I went in to discuss changing our services and upgrading our phones. Tyrell was the rep who helped us and Boy did he need training in Customer Service. Also dear Hans, the hours listed say "local time", what is that? Eastern? Pacific? your website says local time. Hmmm. Also I closed my account and still am billed for it and was told that all auto bill would be stopped when I close my account. That is not true. And now that I am having issues and can't get anyone to help me, I am glad I am no longer with Verizon and will not consider going back. I don't care if reception is better with Verizon in my area. What number did I discontinue? I stopped my credit card payment since my account was closed but cannot resolve with you as cannot get ahold of anyone with your company. they have a jetpack that tracks your useage. it does not have an auto shut off. most electronic devices shut down for non use after 2 or 3 minutes. not verizon , it keeps running for ever till your out of gbs. nice huh? you have an emergincy say, ph. call,door bell, whatever, too bad. you get bill for 150.00 on a 35.00 a mo. account. this happened to me several times. things were not working out so i dropped them. now they want me, an 80 yr. old veteran to pay them another 400.00 because they maintain there end of contract. i wonder how much money verizon makes on that jetpack across the country ? sounds like a good case for a class action lawsuit. its got to happen. read more

Who is in charge in this store?? I went in 2 weeks ago to buy a wall charger for my BlackBerry. I arrived sometime between 4 and 5pm and there weren't many people in the store. A woman very quickly assisted me, but with quite an attitude! Her tone of voice said something to the effect of "You can't step in here unsupervised. You clearly can't find what you want without me reluctantly getting it for you." Despite the attitude, she did get me what I needed very quickly. When I checked out, she asked for my wireless number. I gave it to her, not understanding why she needed it. She confirmed for me the account that it's registered to (my company that I work for). Again, not sure why that mattered. I paid and went on with my day, glad to have charger in hand. Well, wouldn't you know, I arrived home that night to find that someone had just *borrowed* my old charger & it was now returned to me, sitting on the kitchen counter. Great! Now I could get back the $25 out-of-pocket I had just spent on the unnecessary charger. I went back to this store at my next opportunity. Put my name on the list to wait. Just to be clear, I had to wait in Verizon's "virtual" line behind people who are shopping around for service, looking at new phones, asking tons of questions, etc., etc. Shouldn't there be a separate service counter for people that are making quick purchases/returns? I waited about 20 mins for something that should have taken under 5 minutes. Finally, my name is called. The girl tries to do my return unsuccessfully. It turns out, the original salesgirl was taking my # and Company to apply a corporate discount (that was nice, thank you for that). HOWever, new girl can't find a way to refurnd me the proper amount. I wait, I wait, I wait... She asks for assistance from several other employees, none of whom can help her. Here's a conversation I found myself briefly engaged in with another customer at the counter: Guy: (looks at watch, speaks to no one in particular) That can't be right, it's not that late (turns to me) Is it really almost 2pm? Me: (looking at watch) mmm... Yeah, 10 til. Guy: oh my god, where has this afternoon gone? Me: Right here. Guy: God, yeah, no kidding. This place is crazy. Meanwhile, a sales guy helping this guy's friend is being completely useless and answering his customer's questions with responses like, "Uhhh..." and, "I don't know how'd you do that," and sometimes just complete silence accompanied by a rather quizzical look. At one point, when he was trying to set up the customer's email account on the phone and he was stuggling with it, he said, "Why don't you just make up a new account?" My GOD! Really awful service here. I eventually was refunded my money. After the salesgirl charged it to my account twice, refunded those and then finally had another employee helping her through, all the while complaining about the "system". While I can relate to having to use a bad IT system, it's not particularly professional to complain about it in front of your customers. It makes them lose faith in your company and its products. I lost 45 mins of my lunch break for something that should have been accomplished in under 5 minutes. Plan to do the rest of my Verizon visits near my old office location: corner of 43rd & Madison.
