Shocked by Major Surprise Fees and Plan Price Increase. Went into Verizon to deal with a problem with a very old mobile phone. Decided it would be smarter to upgrade my phone. Staff were positive and helpful. They did a great job - very fast at selling me the new phone - just took a few minutes. Before purchase I asked and was told that it would be "about $40" but couldn't give me an exact number because "taxes and stuff" will be included on the bill, sign here (on tablet) to allow us to bill your credit card going forward. Fair enough. $40 is okay. (So I signed). No paper receipts - everything is digital. Okay - glad to save paper. Never got a digital receipt. I'm a small business so I have to keep spending tight, so I dial in to Verizon and check my online account to confirm my bill - only to find that Verizon was billing me an undisclosed $200 for the initial purchase AND, my bill was going up not by about $40 but by $80! $80?! WHAT?! No receipt (still, 1 week later), surprise $200 upfront fee, ADDITIONAL $80 a month, not $40 - and Verizon not willing to discuss, but instead dismissing me by telling me that all of their sales reps are trained to always disclose fees, discuss pricing and give receipts. Nope. I've been with Verizon for years, but this is shocking, shameful, and unacceptable. I'll be switching to AT&T. read more

lol now I know why Verizon has such poor reviews. It's my time to tell you the story. About a month ago I decide to get a Hum device for kids to use in the car while traveling around. First day the app was giving me notifications that I have to drive around in order to get Wi-Fi service which never happened on the first day, the second day I was able to receive some service, but I ended up reconnecting my iPad to my phone hotspot, which has a decent service, the third day I wasn't receiving anything so I decided to return the device. So I go ahead and contact the customer care through chat, we going to send you a box to return the device, they say. And I'm like, OK cool so I wait for a week and nothing happens. Contacting them for the second time through chat, this time I get them to send me a message to provide me with proof that they will send me a return label (not the box this time) and reduce my bill bc I didn't use it. Then I receive an email stating the hum is disconnected and a message that says your bill will be reduced to $120 instead of $170. At this point I'm thinking that they probably did what they said they are going to do this time. Anywho sign in today to my email, I haven't received any return label, my bill is still at $170. I immediately contacted customer service again, mind you I was pissed my blood was boiling. I provide them with as much as insult they have deserved and that was it. They needed to be insulted in Order to do their job correctly. I lost my phone on a Friday afternoon while I was paddle boarding, therefore I was very anxious to get a replacement phone and I was the first customer of the day. I was trying to deal with Assurion as this was a insurance claim All the employees in the store were patient with me while I work through that insurance process. I was on the phone with for about an hour. Everyone at the store was great! The customer support I received the night before was not so great and dealing with a Assurion is a pain so hopefully this works out for the best and we all learn from it and how the process works. I'm not much of a fan or Assurion after this experience but that's a whole other story and does not reflect how amazing the staff at Verizon wireless are! Olivia was VERY patient, professional and thorough. She helped me with selecting the most amazing phone after listening to what was important to me. She also helped me select some super cool accessories. I appreciate all the time she took with me and her wonderful demeanor. I will be sure to ask for Olivia the next time I'm in the market for anything that Verizon wireless sells. I feel badly for the employees at the local stores when they have to deal with the corporate nonsense between Verizon Wireless and Assurion. Regardless, everyone at the store is fabulous! Verizon is terrible, I left them 3 years ago at least. Always had terrible customer service and there service was only maybe a step above AT&T. I've had AT&T now for a couple years and for the price and service it far out performs Verizon. Currently on a $300 yearly plan, you just make a one time payment for the year on AT&T prepaid. I own my phone so I just pop in the SIM card and bam. It's 8gb rollover data. Unlimited call and text. Works out to $25 bucks a month, best change I ever made. read more

I started a new service with Verizon and got the latest iPhone only to decide a week later to join my "family plan" to save. When I called to cancel the new service with a 3o day option to do so, Ava stated that I would have to pay for the device +++ I reminded her of the 30 day option to which she suddenly. She was so rude and disrespectful and simply didn't care, I am so glad I cancelled sooner than later. She basically said, I'm now disconnecting your service and the phone went dead! Went on Friday to replace my iphone12 that sustained water damage. Was nervous due to poor reviews, but Jake was there to help and was amazing! He helped me get a great deal on a new iphone15pro for myself and open a new line for my teenager who got a free iphone14. Gave honest advice about the best phone plans and figure out what made the most sense for my family. He made the process as easy as possible and helped me pick out accessories for the new phones. Even helped place the screen protectors which induce a fair amount of dread in me. Would highly recommend this store and especially Jake. Definitely coming back when my wife needs to upgrade her phone. read more

DO NOT COME HERE EVEN FOR A LOCKER PICKUP. TRYING TO WARN YOU. I had an absolutely horrible experience at this store. I was traveling for work and needed to pick up a new phone, so I set up a pickup for my replacement at this store using their 'easy peasy lemon squeezy' lockers. Let me tell you, this experience was the most difficult lemon difficult experience maybe of my entire life? I tried to pick up the phone on Sunday when it said it was ready for pickup, but alas, that particular store happened to be closed on Sundays. No biggie right? I'll just go Monday first thing in the morning. HUGE biggie, apparently. I tried to access my phone through the locker and it wouldn't let me. I tried to get the attention of a store worker but he was too busy telling a houseless person that he can't afford the phones they have, reading off prices, laughing and egging him on when he'd tangent about how the DOJ is watching us through them. Finally, I got someone else's help, and he told me very rudely that I missed my 'pickup window' which was of course nowhere to be found in my confirmation texts for the pickup. I said, "so it was cancelled and sent back?" And they said yes, I'd have to open a new claim and restart the process and that if I wanted to do it in store I'd have to wait for the next person to assist me which would be about 20min to an hour, and that the phone might not even come today. Since I'm traveling for work, I wouldn't be able to get the phone tomorrow if I wanted to, so I asked multiple times if all I'd have to do is put in a new claim in the app in the next city I'm going to, and they rudely said yes & that there's nothing they could do. I left, and low and behold... the order was never actually cancelled. Verizon can't cancel the order without THIS stores permission, and *of course* there's no way to talk to the store's actual staff over the phone. I'm in a different city now with no way to get a new phone for a minimum of 10 days, because that's the ACTUAL window of time they allow for a phone to be picked up, and there's nothing I can do about it. There wasn't a single friendly face in this store, and they essentially forced me to be on hold with Verizon customer support for 2 hours for nothing. Thanks guys. I signed up for Verizion's free 30 trial. The trial starts the day you sign up even though you do not receive the device until about a week later. I called to cancel just outside of their 30 window and they will not reverse the charges. They do not send you any notification that your 30 day trial is nearing the end. Customer service is not helpful, they stated that the account was upgraded three days after it was activated and that was before I even received the device. CONSUMER BEWARE! Arrived at the store 45 min prior to closing time and from the start their store associate was rude and aloof making it clear that he wanted to go home and could care less about my problem. The store manager wasn't any better, seems like she was there just to take up space and time. Solution: The hero of the evening was a Verizon call center lady who took charge of the situation. 1. iPhone got lost; bought a new one at Apple and brought it over to this store to have it activated on the removable SIM card (Apple could only do the e-SIM card). Told this story to the gentleman receiving customers and he said they were taking appointments for into next week. 2. I said thanks and walked out. 3. Went down to Costco and had everything done in about 20 minutes. 4. We've been on Verizon for probably 20 years (multiple lines). They show monopolistic behavior for even simple transactions and it's really disappointing. 5. As another example, we are able to simply (fortunate) buy the phone but if you do buy it as we did with Costco, you still buy it from Verizon (but with Costco service and guaranty) AND Verizon requires you buy it with financing so the interest is charged on a monthly basis. Costco recommended we pay it off after the 90 day return period thru them to avoid hassles. 6. The unneeded financing is already a hassle and I can't even begin to imagine the pain of having to deal with Verizon in trying to pay it off early. My disgust with Verizon for what should be a simple transaction and or service is simply beyond words. Normally for a review that is this bad, I would offer some constructive recommendations for how to improve but that is based on the notion that Verizon actually cares to improve or more fundamentally, cares about their customer base. I went to Verizon to see if I can get the Moto G7. It is a nice phone for just under 200. Instead I was shown more expensive phone around 4 or 5 hundred dollars. It is outside my budget since I am a Disabled Veteran with limited funds. I repeatedly as for the Moto G7 and the staff has no idea what I was talking about. I went as far as googling the phone so the sales person could see it. He continued to try and sale me a phone I had no interest in at twice the amount I could afford. The sales person said I can make payments for the phone and I said I don't want payment. He continued to show me expensive phones and talked about making payments. Threel times I said am not interested in making payment or a different phone. Seems the new business model for Verizon. Is Verizon doesn't care what their customers want, they just want your mom hey as fast as they can steer you into something you didn't want. What happened to giving what the customer wants instead of think more about your own sales and commission. I will get my Moto G7 from Bust Buy. I will never buy from a Verizon store again. Brace yourselves, I'm conjuring all the Karen I can muster for this review. The sales guy seemed nice and answered all my questions... I thought things were all good but it turns out, this sneaky dude F'ed me over! First, he ran my credit without asking or having me sign anything--which is ILLEGAL! Bro, It's against the law to run someone's credit without written permission. Wtf?! Second, he signed me up for the more expensive premium plan when I told him I don't need that crap, the basic plan was fine. Third, he added the BS 'protection plan' that I specifically said I did not want. Everyone knows that's a scam, duh! Forth, he entered the wrong address in my account information even though I asked him to correct it. It took me like an hour and half on hold with Verizon to verify my info and activate my account. I'd usually just brush off a mistake like this, but with everything else--you better believe I'm added this to the list! Long story long, my first bill is about $30 more than it should have been and It took for-ev-er to fix this sh*t. The worst part, I complimented this dude on his sweatshirt and STILL F'ed me. You know who you are if you're reading this! And booo, you suck! but you know what? I don't even want to 'speak to your supervisor' because I don't know you. I was immediately helped and Gayle's Verizon account information was accessed quickly. The person helping me was very nice and offered some reasonable suggestions if I were to buy an iPhone 4S and put it on my Wife's account. This is based on some ten visits over a few years, all of them exactly the same: poor communication, misleading and misrepresented info, attitude, impatience, arrogance, misunderstandings and usually wrong info. Two years ago I visited this store hoping to get feedback on a good Android phone for my then-boyfriend as a surprise birthday gift. This is Portland, so I won't complain about the pouring rain I had walk through to get to this Verizon location, nor will I complain about their inconvenient hours. I will, however, complain about the service I received once I walked in. A salesman greeted me as soon as I walked in the door, great. His attitude, however, left a lot to be desired. Once I told him I was not a Verizon account holder, looking to buy a phone for someone who was, he quite literally sneered at me and suggested that I "run along" and bring my "boyfriend" back with me so he could speak to someone relevant. I didn't even have time to dry off before being verbally ejected from this Verizon location. But all ended well. I found my boyfriend's gift for $100 less on Verizon's own website, and they even threw in a free extended battery and free shipping. He LOVED it and declared it the best present he's ever received. Guess what, disgruntled, patronizing Verizon salesman? That "boyfriend" of mine you so disdained is now my HUSBAND, and he is due for a phone upgrade...but we will definitely NOT be returning to this location to get it. I came in here looking for new wireless service but more importantly I needed to port my number from Google Voice to my new Verizon service. This was extremely important to me for several reasons but my reasons are irrelevant. What is relevant is that Barry understood how important it was to me and showed an unbelievable amount of kindness, patience and persistence while helping me get it figured out. I left the store not knowing for certain that it would work, but I was extremely confident that Barry had done everything possible to make it happen. In fact, Barry was also honest about the small chance that there could be a problem. I adore honest people. But 24 hours later and all my original phone number dreams came true. Thank you, Barry!! Really, everything about the way you helped me should be taught in customer-first businesses across the world. I mean that sincerely. We should all be like Barry at our jobs. Plan to wait a long time for a simple purchase or return. Corporate phone stores pride themselves in providing excellent customer service. However, this VW store was far from it. Being the clumsy person that I am, I always have phone trouble based on whether I drop my iPhone 4 or accidentally get it wet and have technical issues that are hard to fix and sometimes vague. However, I had found this conveniently located VW store to stop by after having some speaker issues with my iPhone4. Because I was on vacation with my family, it was already stressful enough to not have a working phone. I was greeted by a less-than friendly woman who looked as if she was assigned to schedule certain customer service appointments with various walk-ins. 1) She seemed completely disinterested in my problem, as I was a younger female coming in with my mother to figure out what I could do about a phone that couldn't transmit calls through the earpiece fluidly. 2) After explaining to her that I couldn't hear callers when I received calls from the other party, she took one look at my phone, sees my cracked screen (which had nothing to do with the problem I had presented) and rolled her eyes. She clearly assumed I was this spoiled daughter coming in trying to ween her way into getting a new phone. 3) She does nothing to spend time testing the speakers, offering tips to reboot or provide other options than to HAVE to purchase a completely new phone (my upgrade wasn't ready). After clearly showing that I was pretty upset and flustered, she looks at me with her utmost attempted earnesty and just stares at me, not really sure what exactly she wanted me to say. Isn't customer service supposed to be putting the customer first? Why should I feel that I was demeaned and almost not worth their time? This establishment needs to do a better job at screening and selecting their employees because this lady was NOT cut out for her job. read more

One day I decided to upgrade my phone and while I was downtown, I thought I would swing by the Verizon store on Broadway. At the store, I was told that in order to get a certain loyalty plan that I had to buy a Home Phone Connect kit for $20 per month. After telling them multiple times that I wouldn't use it, they just kept telling me it would still be cheaper than what I'm paying now so I went ahead and got it even though I knew it would sit in the box. The next day while on the phone with Verizon the rep informed me that none of what occurred in the store was true. He recommended that I take it back and have them cancel the Home Phone Connect contract since you 14 days to do it. I did this and it was the worst customer service experience of my life. I'm not a lawyer, but that has got to be beyond aggressive selling and into the fraud department. I'm pretty sure you can't lie about having to buy one product to get another product when that isn't the case. I also did my research and found a regional VP in Seattle to complain to. They did call me several times to followup and apologized for the incident. No idea if they'll go after the store or not. I would say this fairly tale didn't end so good. SCAMMED. I purchased a iPhone a few days prior. I was told that I could return it up until January 15, 2019. I tried to return it today and they said they would charge a $50 restocking fee. When I challenged the fact that I was never communicated this, they said the sales person who sold me this is a very good sales person he told me about the $50 restocking fee. He had not. In the end, they knocked $25 off the restocking fee but it wasn't without what seemed to be an endless debate with the manager, Sarah. Frankly, it's not about $50 or $25. I was duped by salesperson, Landon, who was more interested in selling me a bundle of extra accessories. After getting crappy service from the Apple store, and being told that we had to pre-reserve phones there, we stopped by this Verizon store to see if we could get a phone here. We were greeted immediately upon entering, and was told that they had a wait. They were very nice and offered to check if they had what we wanted in stock to prevent us from wasting our time if they didn't. Luckily, everything we wanted was in stock so we put our names down and waited. The staff was sweet and even offered us bottled water while we waited. When we were finally helped, they were all extremely patient and helpful. They took their time with us and we left with our items completely satisfied.
