I had an unresolved phone issue from a previous experience here and had to spend an hour on the phone with customer service who couldn't resolve it and then had to come back to this store. David was here and he spent an hour on the phone with customer service trying to help resolve the issue that was never his problem to begin with, and he was so patient the whole time. He fixed it! Problem solved, and he didn't earn any commission on this but was super kind and pleasant the whole time. He was great! read more

SCAMMERS in store. My son had issues with his Phone going to SOS mode. We were told they can't guarantee the fix, but if I paid off the phone ($250) and got him a free new 15, that would solve the problem and bring my bill down at least $10/month. Instead they charged me $260, sent me a receipt that said "0.00" since I paid it (no detail on the bill) and then charged $249 for the new case, protector, $39 upgrade fee, plus $40+ to 'transfer his data over' and my new bill is now $23 more a month. I called Verizon about this. They can't find the $249 charge the store made on my account so told me to dispute it. They also told me data transfer was a free service. They said my bill went up because the rep changed my son's plan AND MY PLAN to a higher plan that I said MY line did not need. Verizon is trying to fix it, but DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!!!! read more

I was put on the list to pre order an apple iphone 17 months ago and they never called even though I checked in person twice to confirm they would let me know once available. The SIM card in my phone died, I came in to get a new one. David was helpful, professional, witty, and capable. Downloaded an eSIM easy peasy and got me on my way. While waiting for the eSIM to download, he doubled checked my account to make sure I was on the best plan; I was (as I suspected, grandfathered in to a good plan through my job) and he didn't try to upsell me. He also checked my upgrade timeline and let me know my options/timetable; again helpful without being pushy. read more

Today, March 2nd 2023 I had an appointment to upgrade my cell account. I was asked to be there 15 minutes early and was so happy to find that there was no one in there except two customer service people. I was greeted by one guy who turned out to be a blankety blank, impatient amazingly rude and such a jerk. I walked out. I've been a customer of the store for years and honestly the service isn't the best but it is close by. This guy should be fired. I'll never go back there again. It is a minimum hour to an hour and a 1/2 wait, no matter what if there's 1 person in line in front of you... if there's more than one person waiting just leave. i've been going here for years cause it's close and every single time it's over an hour wait at least. On November 8 2023, at 6 pm, I received very poor service from this Verizon Store at 1248 University Ave, San Diego CA 92103. I arrived to pay a bill, and the Verizon or Victra representative, Bryce or Brice, refused to serve me. I told him that my monthly payments pay his salary, and I should be a priority. Then he walked out on his work shift telling his co workers that he had to go to school. I called Verizon customer service line 800 number 5 times from 11/8 to today, and still no call back from the store manager or the customer service manager. Very poor customer service in my opinion. I will never upgrade a phone in an "authorized retailer" again! While the service was quick and friendly, most of the salespersons efforts were to upsell me on accessories. Then I found out I was charged $39.99 for "set up and go" service (which Verizon stores used to and Apple stores still provide for free and I certainly wouldn't have chosen to pay for) and a mystery $10 charge for "remaining phone balance". I was not informed of either of these charges before I paid - only found out by reviewing my receipt which I had to call to request the next day because it wasn't sent to me by email as requested. I went in because my phone was broken. No one else was in the store. The man said he could help me. I told him the problem. He then gets on a call & starts trying to help the person on the other line. He talked to that person for about a minute . Another Verizon employee walked in with his lunch & walked to the back office. The first Verizon employee stated he was in a meeting (on the tablet) & the other gentleman would help me. I asked if I should come back later. He stated " You can do what ever you want'. He then walked into the back office. A minute later the second worker came out. He was very helpful. The first worker could have said " I am just covering while the other person grabs lunch. Do you mind waiting for him to come back? I am in a meeting". I have been going to this place for years, and always had a wonderful experience. The people in there were so helpful and I, as a senior, really appreciated the help with setting up my new phones. So once again I went into purchase my iPhone SE 2022. So I was told by the salesman, that there was $236 of "mandatory" fees to set up my phone. While I found this very steep, I still went forward with the phone purchase. When I got home I realized the $236 was for a a $30 service fee, and around $200 of equipment that I was told "came with the package". (I thought Apple was providing an added benefit for purchasing a new phone.). Fast forward to getting home and finding all that extra equipment that I never would have ordered because I have it all already! (All the extra charges that were really optional not mandatory) I went back to return the equipment, and was told that the screen cover that was worth $65 could not be returned without the manager's presence. I went back four times, and finally was so frustrated that I was going to leave a note for the manager. The salesman that I talked to remembered me, and when I mentioned the misrepresentation of including all that equipment without full disclosure he said, "we do this all the time. " I just wanted to let people know about the standard practice of overcharging for equipment that the new phone owner may not want. There's no disclosure and no option to decline it. I'm not sure if this is the new organization's standard policy, or something that this salesman does on his own. Please be aware that these people are sales people who work on a commission basis, and check your receipts very carefully! When I threatened to call the Better Business Bureau and to call corporate, after much protest he went ahead and credited me back for the equipment I had not wanted to purchase. During our conversation, he referred to me as "sir," when I am clearly a female that he had been dealing with on two separate occasions. Can you imagine using this language towards a woman in the middle of Hillcrest?!! This obvious sexual harassment was so upsetting that I had to write a further review. Clearly this gentleman does not understand where he's working, and using a sexually harassing comment like this is probably against even his manager's rules. Clearly he can't handle a strong woman who advocates for herself I needed to put me down while conceding the refund. I just want to mention, that not all the sales people behave like this. One very kind young man removed the screen protector for me, as my OtterBox phone protector already had a plastic cover. The man that sold me this actually rendered my phone much less touch capable just to make a few bucks on commission, and this nice young man removed it for me free of charge. If the owner contacts me and let me know this is not a policy the store follows to sell people things they don't need, I will revise my review. However I just want people to be very careful dealing with the store! read more

THIS IS NOT VERIZON. PLEASE READ TO AVOID LOSING PILES OF MONEY!!! I give two stars because my sales rep was kind, however, this is not verizon and I didn't realize it as they represent themselves (seemingly fraudulently) as a Verizon. The cost to me? Nearly $1000, maybe more, for not realizing this isn't a Verizon store. This is "Victra" and they will charge you royally for it. I was told I couldn't trade in my phone; however, VERIZON (in Mission Valley) gave me $860 for it. All of the deals from Verizon are easier acquired via a proper store. Avoid this place - they have to make money as an authorized dealer and they'll make it from you. Plus, they screwed my rep out of his commissions. Victra is a bummer in so many more ways than I feel like writing, but I wish I had been warned so I'm hoping to save someone else the headache. read more

Terri lied from the beginning claiming that I would receive $400 in accessory credit and $1000 off a new phone with trade-in. She charged me $246.62 which she said was for taxes and fees. I asked for an itemized receipt which she assured me would arrive by email. The only email I ever received was confirmation of my device order. At my next appointment, I asked again for an itemized receipt after she told me I owe $136 more in taxes and fees. The receipt showed that the $246.62 that I previously paid was actually for absurdly inflated accessories ($70 for two off brand charging blocks for example). At the end of my device pickup, the paperwork stated that it was actually a financing agreement for both devices. I expressed concern at this and Terri even wrote on my bill that I would be receiving the $1000 credit as she had originally stated at my request because this was nowhere in any of the paperwork. In the meantime, only a $95 credit for my device trade-in posted leaving me $158 in monthly financing charges and fees on top of my $115 monthly plan. When I called Verizon, Verizon confirmed that Terri had misrepresented their promotion. Even if I were eligible for the $1000 credit (I wasn't) it's not applied as a one time credit. It's applied over the span of 36 months toward the financing. I spent hours with customer support trying to fix it, not to mention the 4 hours it took Terri to figure out how to activate my phone. I can't believe that a business with such unethical practices and a complete lack of transparency in their agreements and offerings is still in operation. You would be much better off shopping online or going with another provider entirely. Terri was also incredibly unprofessional in my follow-up call. She spoke with an incredibly snide attitude when I pointed out the discrepancies between what she had told me during my pre-order and what was being billed before she hung up on me. I am returning my devices to Verizon and I will never shop with Victra ever again. read more

My son is recently visually impaired and needed his iPhone set up for his blindness. I spoke to the Verizon phone representative and she gave me a time for the appointment and assured me the university store personnel would be able to help us. On arrival to the store I informed the employee that we had an appointment and he rudely said it "is first come first served". Another employee did arrive with in 5 minutes to help us but told us he did not know how to set the phone up for visually impaired , but would do his best. We left and went to the Apple Store.
