Went today to pick something that I ordered online . First of all, verizon has some really good deals online . Have never seen such offers with T-Mobile or ATT. I switched to Verizon and it's the best decision I made . Nice service and super good customer service . This location was excellent . When I went in I saw so much crowd and was thinking it's gonna take time .. but saw so many VZ employees inside . There were atleast 4/5 employees helping customers .. I purchased a $75 Verizon prepaid hotspot device expecting a simple, standalone WiFi option -- something I could manage independently without needing access to the main account (which I'm only a family member on, not the account holder). I was told that once I used up my prepaid data, I'd receive an email prompting me to renew or purchase more GB. That sounded convenient -- until it wasn't. I returned to this Verizon store frustrated but expecting a quick top-up. Instead, I was told I needed to verify account info, which defeats the whole point of getting a separate prepaid device. If I wanted it tied to the main account, I would've gone through that headache from the start. I lost it when -- the employee asked me to physically open the back of the device to access info. I have nerve damage in my right arm and I was already triggered by having to be there... so I walked out. At activation, all I had to do was pay. But now that I actually want to use what I paid for, I'm being dragged through verification steps defeating the goal of convenience. I'm absolutely certain there are more options out there. If I didn't have to wait for 30 minutes I would've given this Verizon 5 stars! When I first walked in someone came over to me and asked me for my name and phone number. She used my information to put me on a waitlist. She told me that I had one person ahead of me and it would take about 30 minutes. They were clearly understaffed but at least she was accurate with the quote time. When it was my turn I received a text saying that I was up and someone also called my name aloud. The person who helped me (Rafael) was amazing! I was set on the iPhone 10 but he helped with any other questions that I had. I was extremely indecisive about what color iPhone I wanted and I couldn't decide which case I wanted. Rafael let me see how his phone looked in his case & recommended the same brand. He even put on my glass screen protector after my mom jokingly asked him to do it! Although they were understaffed Rafael did not rush me at all and he had great customer service! It's quite funny how the management at this location never responds to critical feedback - says a lot. Arguably one of the most horrendous and disingenuous customer service experience I've ever dealt with. I'll preface this by saying I have been a Verizon customer for over 10 years. As far as customers go, I'm easy to deal with, I pay my bill and keep it moving. I don't call and ask for discounts or renegotiate contracts cause quite frankly I don't want to deal with Verizon. But on June 30th I had ordered (upgraded) my iPhone to a newer version and bought an apple watch from Verizon. The devices were supposed to arrive 2 days later but never did. I reached out to Verizon via live chat who told me that I am the one who is supposed to contact UPS to find out what happened. First, if you are a seller and your package that was sent to a customer goes missing - it is up to you, the seller to remedy it. But either way I reached out to UPS who informed me the package was lost in transit and that I need to escalate to Verizon to do their own investigation. I contacted Verizon again via live chat, and once again the person I spoke with told me I must deal with UPS and have them launch their own investigation and contact Verizon to inform them the package has gone missing. At this point I was getting nowhere with live chat and decided to call. I called Verizon and explained everything that has happened thus far to the person on the phone. He informed me I was correct in assuming it was Verizon's obligation to reach out to UPS on my behalf. The person also assured me everything would be taken care of, and that they would: cancel the previous order for the two devices I haven't received re-order the devices for me on their behalf, and waive the activation, upgrade, or any one-time fees by the end of the week I would receive my new device, and everything would be taken care of. Surprise- fast forward the end of the week. The previous order is still listed on my account and even though its now almost 2 weeks late still says "oN tHe wAy". No new order for either device I had ordered was re-ordered as they had promised. So once again I called Verizon, explained everything once more, and the recent events. Once again, the person on the phone said they would fix everything. I must have spent about 70 minutes on that call working with this person as she verified various details and made various adjustments. By the end she pretty much said the same 3 things: cancel the previous order for the twice devices I haven't received re-order the devices for me on their behalf, and waive the activation, upgrade, or any one-time fees by the end of the week, I would receive my new device, and everything would be taken care of. She said she needed to place me on hold to confirm all the details with her superior and asked if I would rather be called back once she was finished as it would take 30 or so minutes. I told her as long as she calls back it's okay. Well, it's been an entire month and I still haven't received that call back yet. Oh and still: The previous order is still listed on my account and even though it's now been OVER A MONTH still says, "oN tHe wAy". No new order for either device has been placed on Verizon's behalf as they promised. And it gets better, as of my recent bill Verizon has started charging me a device payment, two activation fees, and charging me an additional line FOR THE DEVICES I NEVER RECEIVED. As I am writing this review, I am currently on the phone with Verizon still dealing with this issue, the person I spoke too just once again assured me the adjustments are made. I'm sort of at the end with Verizon, a month ago all I wanted was the 2 devices I paid for- I never received either device or now they're charging me monthly fees for devices I have never received. This is what you get when you're a customer for Verizon for over 10 years. And no, this store did not specifically insight any of this, but Verizon is a big enterprise and whatever issues you have are easily lost and swept under a rug. I'm a relatively new Verizon customer and have so far over the past few months have had pleasant experiences with their customer support and sales staff. Mainly my dealings have been either over the phone or at the Verizon Wireless location at the Bridgewater Commons Mall in Bridgewater, NJ. I had a hardware issue (device wouldn't charge) with my phone so I went to this location. I had to first sign in and wait about 30 minutes to be seen. After I was attended to I found to staff to be rude and short with me. I listened to them ACCUSE me of wrong doing for not having an insurance plan on my phone. Keep in mind the issue is a manufacturing issue and the phone is still under warranty. They were unapologetic for the issues I was experiencing and instead tried to push me to buy more accessories that wouldn't address the core issue with my phone. I even watched another customer service rep OPENLY BERATE a customer for "interrupting [him] while [he] was going through his phones settings. I simply cannot believe a company like Verizon would allow this sort of conduct to become common place at this store. I will never return to this store and his has even prompted me to contact a different carrier about switching. read more

Despite being frustrated and misled by both the online and telephone customer service, the manager showed incredible patience and professionalism in working with me to replace my wife's phone that was no longer working. In spite of the challenges due to COVID, he took personal interest in seeing that we we able to get the phone, working through some more challenges with the online system. My son had the worst experience ever at this location. The manager was rude and obnoxious and refused to give him her name. She gave him a hard time regarding verifying his identity and when he returned to the store with his license the store was in the process of closing and even though she had just assisted him and told him to go get his license, she refused to let him in. Though, there were six other customers still in the store. I don't understand why his identity couldn't have been verified using another form of ID, but she didn't even take the time to do that; had she taken the time to even look up my account, she would've seen that he is an account holder on my account. I have been a Verizon customer for over 20 years and I'm very surprised, after reading other complaints about this location, nothing has been done. One word - AWFULL! Last summer my Wife's IPHONE 4 some how entered into reset mode and displayed a message "plug into ITunes". I was at work and couldnt help. She went to this store and was told the phone is toast, she needed a new phone. She got a new IPhone 5 for a lot of money. The next day, I connected the old phone to ITunes and got it up and running. She did NOT need a new phone. Last Sunday I went in to upgrade my phone. I told them I wanted a Samsung Galaxy S4 with 32gb and to change our plan to the share everything. Tuesday night I noticed the plan was not changed and had to call customer service to have it corrected. Wednesday I realized my new phone had only 16gb. I again called customer service who told me I needed to go to the store to switch my phone on the spot. I called the store and they told me they had one left and would hold it for me. After work I go straight to the store and they tell me they do not have a 32gb S4! I wasted an hour travel & wait time to be told something different than what I was told on the phone. This is a lengthy story but I'll try and keep it short. I'll preface this by saying that I managed a cell phone store for 5 years so I have a good deal of knowledge of how things are supposed to work. I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S4 back in August and on Tuesday 11/12 the phone shut off mid use. All of the trouble shooting techniques I know did not solve the problem, the phone was in essence a $300 paperweight. I work crazy hours sometimes and last week was not able to call the Tech Support call center before they closed at 11 PM so I decided on Thursday 11/14 to stop in the store. First I dealt with a woman named Muphy who told me my problem was a known issue with the Android 4.3 update Samsung had recently sent out and that my phone was covered under the warranty and she could order me a new phone. Now, I know that Verizon tests all software updates (and adds things to them) before releasing them to customers so I didn't really buy that it was Samsung's fault, but hey whatever. When she said "new" phone I questioned whether it was a brand new phone or a refurbished phone. She told me she misspoke and that it would be a "Verizon Certified Like-New Device." I wasn't happy about this since I've seen many times these refurbished phones don't work properly and sometimes need to be replaced many times over. I know the policy is to send a refurbished phone, but I also wanted a brand new phone and knew I would never get one without asking. So I asked and we went back and forth a few times with her mostly responding with tired company lines, but after a few minutes I figured ok I tried place the order. She then tells me I'll receive the phone in 5 business days which I was not happy with. I told her I've already been without a phone for 3 days and I've already paid this months service so a replacement should be provided much quicker. She told me I can pay for expedited shipping and it would be overnighted. I told her I shouldn't have to pay more money to have the issue resolved in a timely manner. At this point she told me she'd get a manager. For the record, her service wasn't one star terrible and I understand she only has so much power, what happened next is the reason for the rating. Cassius, a manager came out, greeted me, and sat down. He stared at me and didn't say anything. I had to go through the whole story with him again and throughout he didn't answer me unless I asked him a direct yes or no question. He told me a new device wasn't possible and I could have a refurb sent to me in 5 days. When I told him I've already been without a working phone for 3 days and thus unable to use service I've already paid for and do not want to wait what amounts to another week paying for something I can't use he told me Verizon doesn't see it that way. He said I could have always called Customer Service (no I couldn't I got home from work after they closed both days and didn't have a working cell phone to use) and therefore he could not verify if what I said was true. I know that's "salesman code" for "you're lying" and I was not happy about that at all. I told him to pull up the activity on the line to see when the last call or text was placed to verify it then and he said that wasn't possible (it is, someone later did this for me). After much debate he finally agreed to waive the expedited shipping charge and told me I'd have the phone hopefully the next day but if not on Friday and that I'd receive an email with the tracking number. With that I left. I did not receive the phone Friday and therefore had to take a day off from work on Monday (lost a day's pay) to wait for the phone. All along no tracking number had arrived. Finally, Monday afternoon I decided to give customer service a call to track down my phone. I was shocked to learn that NO ORDER HAD BEEN PLACED AND I'D HAVE TO START THE ORDER PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN! The Rep on the phone was unwilling to honor the free overnight shipping because the account had not been notated and he "couldn't verify that I was even there on Thursday." Another subtle way of calling me a liar (frankly my experience with cust service was horrendous as well) and I could only pay for expedited shipping or wait 3 to 5 business days and my objections with paying for service I couldn't use were met with, "the service works and you always have the option of buying a replacement phone off contract." That's $600 for the phone I was using, and why should I have to come out of pocket with any money to resolve an issue that was not my fault? To make a long story short, I've been in contact with that store a couple of times since and have dealt with some more helpful people. There wasn't many people so we were next in line. In come 3 woman (also African American) after us and I SEE the manager tell the employee that is looking for me take care of the woman that came after me. I waited to see if it was a mistake but sure enough they took care of all the people that came in after us. When we asked why we were skipped the "manager" Raoushon simply said "well I do not do upgrades" and she must have skipped you by mistake. NO APOLOGY, NO NOTHING! I KNOW THIS WAS RACIAL PROFILING because we are hispanis and we did not get the same attention or respect everyone else did that was his same ethnicity. If I could give a lower score, I would. Been a Verizon Wireless customer as long as they've been around. This location is the WORST. You are made to sign in for everything...even to purchase a screen protector when 3 employees...including Manager...are sitting at the front desk doing nothing except talking!! Unbelievable. Every visit here is a nightmare. I should know better but I live 5 minutes away. Some examples of my poor experiences: - I was talked into taking Verizon's internet access (prior to FIOS being in my area) and told I would receive a $200 gift card and had 30 days to cancel without a penalty. Decided against leaving Comcast within one week. Not only did I never receive my $200 gift card...was charged $100 early termination fee. Tried to fight it with the store and Customer Service and they would 't budge. I paid $100 and never even hooked the modem up. - Came in to purchase a new cell phone for my husband at 8:00 PM. Checked in...several employees working (sitting/talking/on personal phone call)...only one couple was buying a phone when I walked in... Waited for an hour and a half. I kept being told that I was the next person. Finally had to walk out in disgust, with no phone, because so much of my time was wasted. - Decided to place online order for same phone to be picked up in the South Plainfield store. I received a message that my order would be ready shortly. I waited two hours and went to store. I should have just been able to go in and pick up my purchase. Instead, after signing in yet again, I was told they never received the order from the website and they had to do the whole thing over again which took 45 minutes. This visit, at least, I was helped a kind, knowledgeable sales woman. - This morning, came to store to return case I had purchased. Once again, store was empty aside from two customers already being helped but I was made to sign in. Had to wait 15 minutes before anyone would even look at me while I watched the Manager and other employees not doing much work at all. Finally received help and was told that it look like I was going to have to get a merchandise credit instead of the $113 going back to my credit card. I stated I don't need a merchandise credit and want it back on my card. The salesman was able to figure out how to get the money back to my credit card eventually. Once again, walked out completely aggravated. These are just a few experiences I've encountered with these people. I could go on and on. Someone in Corporate seriously needs to look at the way this store is run because it is embarrassing to the company. Terrible customer service, terrible attitudes, lack of professionalism, uninformed employees and an utter lack of urgency shown by Management are just a few concerns. We had the worst experience with this store. I would never expect that a brand as big as Verizon can lack in customer care by falsely accusing a customer of stealing! I am writing this review to forewarn potential customers of the treatment you will receive in this store. My husband was due for an upgrade and went to trade in his phone, he received credit for the trade in and got a receipt acknowledging the transaction had occurred. You would think, no problem there, smooth transaction, done deal.... WRONG! 3 weeks later, we receive a call from the store "manager" I believe her name is Julia, telling him to return the old phone or that he would get charged 500 dollars otherwise. So there we were, thinking it was some kind of mix up. I mean how can they call a customer to ask for a phone they no longer possess, when clearly we had a receipt and had gotten credit for the phone? The manager was firm and stated she had done her due diligence, "her research", and that she knows my husband has possession of the phone. Well first things first, if you are going to accuse someone of not returning something, I would think part of her research included reviewing the camera videos from the store. We went to the store to sort things up and were greeted by one of the staff members, we were pretty much told we had to wait for the manager to show up, and we did. So the manager shows up and once again she is saying she did her research and that the device is not in the store and that it is in everyone's best interest to return the phone. Well how can we return something we don't have! We are not liable for what happens in your store....Anyway, she starts lying to our face and tells us that the store called my husband, had him on speaker phone and that not one, but a few staff members, heard him say that he indeed has the phone. Not only was she accusing my husband of stealing the phone but now she was saying that my husband admitted to having the phone, are you kidding me? The worst part is that it was not just one person trying to play this prank, it was the manager and the staff, which leads me to think, this is not the first time something of this nature has happened. We could not fathom how we even got involved with a phone that is no longer in our hands and was of no use to us. Needless to say, we took matters into our own hands and reached out to a Verizon Executive who re-assured us that the store had no business in calling us after the device had been returned. It's been about 2 weeks since this happened and we finally get a call from the store to tell us we do not have to pay for the device, however, the rudeness and lack of respect continued. The manager that called, told my husband that the device was lost and that Verizon will take full responsibility for it, well great, I don't get why we were involved in the first place... he then made a comment that I would classify as unprofessional, especially coming from someone that works in the Customer Service industry. He told my husband that 500 dollars is nothing to him. I guess they must know our finances, but really that is not any of their business.
