We have been long time regular customers of Vernies, and it used to be our favorite restaurant.. but lately it has been going downhill. Our last three visits have been less than exemplary. Service has been horrible, and the restaurant itself has been uncomfortably cold, and dirty. One of our most recent experiences was when we arrived at 8:15pm on a weekday. The "manager" on duty said we were lucky to have gotten in when we did, because they were soon going to be serving carry out only... and asked if we would be able to eat and leave before 9pm... Honestly I was shocked to hear this.. admittedly it's been a few years since I worked in the restaurant industry.. but when I worked one of the local Pizza restaurants in town... if a customer walked in 1 minute before closing.. we stayed until they were done eating. You just don't treat customers like that... The next time we visited.. just a couple of weeks later (hoping to give it another go...) we arrived, placed our order, and then went to find a table. The party room was closed, even though there were only a few people in there eating (not a party in sight) there were two large tables in the lower part of the dining room that were "reserved" and the rest were occupied, so we went up to the upper "window" level.. I'm not kidding.. EVERY single table was dirty and had dirty dishes on them. There was a Vernie's employee sitting up there watching TV... and she watched us clear our own table. To my amazement.. when she went back to work... she walked away from the area EMPTY HANDED! We watched as she milled around the dining room "looking busy" and then the person who brought our Pizza up to us.. also left the area EMPTY HANDED! Do they NOT teach these kids how to work? I nearly went and gathered up the dishes myself... it would have taken one trip.. (these are all pizza trays and stack up easily) Seriously, one person armed with a dishcloth could have cleaned up these tables in less than 4 minutes... when I pointed it out to the "manager" he was very rude and said they had been busy... I can imagine how hectic things must get around there.. if they are wasting steps by not multitasking on their trips to the dining room by clearing tables on the way back. Now tonight... Tuesday night... at 6:30 we called in to have a Pizza delivered.. and we're told.. sorry... it'll be at least two hours before we can get your order to you... 2 hours... in fact he wasn't even happy to take the order... we went with another restaurant... I honestly felt like I was inconveniencing them with my call... This is really sad.. because we have had some great experiences with Vernies, I'm not sure if they have new management, or what is going on.. but the service, and the attitude toward their customers has gone seriously downhill... we'll not be dining with them in the future. read more

I don't understand what is so great about Vernies. There pizza is subpar. I'd rather eat a frozen pizza from the grocery store than go to this place again. The crust is not crispy at all. It almost seem undercooked to me. The children at the front counter was also rude, when I wanted to order a pizza. it almost seem like I was bothering the girl behind the counter. When my wife went to get a refill of soda, the girl (in uniform) was at the counter. She told my wife twice that she is not on the clock, so she wasn't able to refill the soda. How hard is it to provide good customer service. It does not matter if your on the clock. Maybe she shouldn't be by the counter if she does not want to be bothered. Not a huge fan of there pizza but the best pizza pockets and bread sticks in town. My usual is pepperoni stuffed pockets with jalapeño garlic ranch dipping. Great place to go for lunch with good price. read more

My 2 experiences with Vernie's have both been recent and positive. One was with a large group in the party room during the holidays when the entire restaurant was pretty crowded. Our pizza arrived hot, as ordered, and within a reasonable amount of time. The 2nd was today, Super Bowl Sunday, when hubby was craving some pizza. We called around noon and ordered a 4 topping extra large to be ready at 2:45. It was ready a few minutes early, less expensive than other places, and tasted great! Maybe they've ironed out the kinks since some of the earlier, negative reviews. I hope so, because the pizza is excellent! read more

Good Pizza .. Was a little cold when it got to my home , the cheese was real !!unlike other places in the area that I have waisted money on .. This fortunately wasn't a waste of money. Best pizza in Longview/Kelso. We love their supreme. Wish when we ask about delivery it didn't seem like we were pulling teeth. A little pricy compared to chain places, but so worth it. read more

Called our pizza in ahead and got charged for an extra pizza. The manager fixed that. Then the 4 pizzas my son ordered for his team to be ready by 5:30 was not ready because they lost the ticket so the pizza sat there until my son said something to them. They got their pizza at 5:55 and just about everyone else was done eating. Really bad organization. The kids had a great time though and that is what matters. read more

Let me start with the only reason they get two stars is because the pizza itself is exactly how hot cheesy pizza should be. Sadly everything else leaves something to be desired. When we walked in not one employee looked up at us or acknowledged us for a good five minutes. Once one finally did walk out to the front to take our order he was less than enthusiastic, he more bordered on the I hate my job side. Finally, pizza and soda is ordered and we turn around to find a seat...only to see that every single table that wasn't occupied is covered in empty dirty glasses and pizza pans. Well over half the tables mind you. After grabbing some napkins and cleaning a table off ourselves we began to wait. After ten minutes still no pitcher of soda, and still not a single employee has come out to clean a table off. Although they were having a wonderful time singing and joking around behind the counter, as long as they weren't having to interact with customers. Finally, we decided to ask for our pizza to go and a 2 liter of pop because we weren't exactly excited to sit at a table so sticky we didn't even want to touch it, and a staff of employees who couldn't have cared less about how the place looked or how the customers were doing. read more

Good pizza. BUT they are rather slow, forgot one of our pizzas last time, served a table that ordered after us, and posts false prices on the website ($3 more once you get there). Also they give pizzas that are made for togo orders AWAY to in house orders. . So people show up and their to go orders are not ready. Me and my friends sat and waited for an hour for them to bring a 2 litre of Dr pepper. After an hour of waiting, we noticed they brought a take in order to a family that had been there for 5 minuets. Having immigrated from the People's Republic of California, from living in the Worker's Paradise called the San Fernando Valley, I know my pizza, having tried all of the numerous pizza in the Valley, South Bay and West Side. while there are some really good pizza's there, to our amazement we have found Vernie's, using all natural ingredients, locally sourced, no "product" as in the other places... We retired here four years ago to get away from the nut-jobs down south and to our utter amazement this pizza just kick's their *sses It's the locally sourced REAL ingredients. read more

Reviewing mainly the lunch specials since i've only had their full pizzas twice and they were great tasting, but boy is the price reasonable. After paying much higher prices in Seattle all my life because im surrounded by people able to afford more resulting higher prices, Vernies Pizza and stores in Longview in general seem so much more fair and responsible. We have never actually been inside to eat, we always get take-out, so I am not sure on their service. The wait time varies a lot when we order but our pizza is always hot and very good. I am gluten intollerant and they use a seperate cooking area for the pizzas, one of the only places in town that has gluten free pizza. read more

We had hot wings that were hot and got 4 stars. The salads, when they finally got there after 20+ mins got 3.5 stars. The cheese pizza had lots of cheese and got 3.5. The pepperoni pizza gets 3.5. The listing for this spot says quiet. It is so loud with parties and people yelling for pizzas for take out. I will not eat in this spot again. Take out sounds like the plan. This pizza used to be good. Although lately more often than not, when I get pizza from Vernies, it seems abhorrently undercooked. Bread sticks = undercooked. When I call in to place an order for pick-up, the individual answering the phone is always rushed to get off the phone, to the point of cutting me off in the middle of my order. If your pizza joint is so busy that you can't cook pizzas to the appropriate level and your employees can't provide sufficient customer service - perhaps it's time to hire some more employees? read more

Okay so my buddies and I wanted to get a bite to eat somewhere so we decided to go to Vernie's. It closes at 9:00pm but on Yelp it says 10:00, anyways we show up at 8:25 and we are greeted by a "we are only doing to-go orders" we agreed to there early closing time. The restaurant had multiple tables that weren't cleaned and there was only a group 3 dining in at the time. Then I went and ordered some cheese filled bread sticks with garlic ranch. We decided to take a seat while we waited for our orders to be ready. While we were waiting an employee came up to us to remind us once again that it was only a "to-go" order, implying that we had to leave 30 minutes before there scheduled closing time. Anyways I leave to go home to eat my food, and when I get home I open up my "to-go" bag to see non-cheese filled plain bread sticks. After the poor and rude customer service I come home to find that they got my order wrong. I am very unhappy with the customer service Vernie's Pizza presented to my friends and I on this Friday night. I hope some changes will be made with customer service at this place before the next time my friends and I come to dine in. read more

Never had tried this place and thought I would give it a try. Boy was I sorry! I ordered from the restaurant, nothing difficult, just a large with 3 toppings, paid my $19 and some change thinking to self this better be worth it. Was told I had a 20 minute wait. So I took a seat in the dining room (had my choice of tables) as I was the only one there) waited for 30 minutes and got my order and left. Still no one in the restaurant and went home. I got home and rushed into the house thinking it should still be warm and that I would have pizza for a couple of days. Took out 2 pieces and took my first bite and spit it back out. It was the worst pizza i have ever ate in my life. It tasted like they just opened a can of tomato paste and spread it over the dough! Needless to say, I proceeded to throw the rest of this large pizza in the trash and made my self a pb&j sandwich. I will never ever go here again! read more
