Service was very friendly.

With a bit of time to spare before my 2:30 PM meeting, I was excited to discover this nearby gem. Arriving around 1:30 PM on a Tuesday, I noticed the restaurant was quite peaceful, which added to its charm. I decided to try the Beef extra hot with onion rings instead of fries. The Italian Beef was absolutely delightful, with tender beef that melted in my mouth. Just a heads up--the giardiniera packs a spicy punch, adding a wonderful kick to the dish! The onion rings were crispy and delicious, complementing my meal perfectly. The service was friendly and attentive; my server made sure my Pepsi was always topped up, which I really appreciated. If you're craving real Chicago-style pizza in Arizona, this is the place. The pizza here tastes just like Chicago honestly, it's almost identical. From the crust to the sauce to the overall flavor, it's as close as you're going to get outside of Illinois. The food is outstanding, clearly made with care and quality ingredients, and you can tell they know exactly what they're doing. On top of that, the customer service is excellent -- friendly, welcoming, and genuinely appreciative of their customers. This spot absolutely nails Chicago-style pizza, and it's rare to find something this authentic outside of the Midwest. Highly recommend. I'll definitely be back. read more

I've ordered take-out from Vero Chicago Pizza and have been consistently impressed. While I know it's a matter of personal preference, I favor their thin crust pizza over the deep dish. The cheese and sausage topping is particularly my favorite. As someone from Wisconsin, I can confidently say their cheese curds are the best I've had in Arizona. Additionally, their cauliflower crust pizza and spaghetti are both enjoyable options. Hands down best pizza in the valley. I am from Chicago and this is the best Chicago pizza I've had. I have been eating from the other locations for years now. Any time someone from Chicago comes out I make them try it and they are blown away. Thin crust is thin and holds its toppings without flop. When I first moved to AZ from Chicago I was afraid I wouldn't get anything close to the deep dish I have become accustomed too. Enter Vero pizza. Delicious, thick and perfect! This place is located on San Tan Blvd. One of the many sneaky spots on this road that looks seemingly dead, but if you are paying attention you immediately start noticing all the business along it. If you haven't driven down San Tan Blvd, I encourage you to do so. A lot of hidden gems there. We arrived at crusty's and were instantly greeted by the very helpful staff. The establishment was very clean, which is always a welcome sight. The prep area is very visible. They have a home made dough. Which was a good start. The I had one slice of each of the pies we ordered. The dough was cooked well. Crispy and fluffy all at once. It had a lil char on the crust but could have been a little more charred. I don't know about you, but there is something about those big black bubbles on the crust that really make it good. They don't bake their pies in a gas or brick oven pizza. They have one of those electric assembly line type ovens. The one you put the pizza in on one side and it rides the conveyor belt to the end which completes the cook. I really think this pizza would benefit a lot from a traditional over either gas or brick. Especially that crust. The toppings were fresh and very well distributed. Not too much and not too little. Just right. Goldie locks would love that. The one true disappointment here is the sauce. It's not a bad sauce, but it's not a good sauce either. In fact it just sauce. It had no flavor to it. I ate my first slice and oh maybe it this pie. I tried the next and then the next. Same results. Just no flavor to it. I would have said it was me. After all I'm on this high protein diet and it's altered my taste buds, but my wife unprompted turned to me said "this pizza isn't bad, but the sauce doesn't have any flavor". All in all Crusty is worth a try, but I encourage the owners to season their sauce a bit more. The sauce is soooo important to a good slice. Also... get an oven. Their prices are extremely reasonable boarding on generous. A small price hike would still be good pricing and allow you to get a real oven to cook your pies in.
