Simply put... a hidden gem. The decor is elegant, yet not tacky. The service is fast and organized. The food is stellar. My girlfriend and I usually get one pasta dish and one meat dish. We split and share. The brown sauce on the chicken rollatini was not too heavy and not too light. The perfect amount to dip the side of mashed potatoes and veggies in. The chicken was moist, and you cannot ask for anything better. The bacon in the linguine verona, is the perfect combination in the white sauce. Went here with my hubby for our anniversary. The outside of the building doesn't look like much, but inside and on the patio is GORGEOUS. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. He's a bit paranoid about chicken being undercooked and even he was happy with the preparation. My pork was smooth as butter and the dessert was out of this world! We brought our own wine, since it's BYOB, and the waiter immediately put it on ice for us. I have eaten here several times during the past three years whenever I am in town visiting my family and have never been disappointed. The quality of the food rivals any that could be found in a NYC Italian restaurant. I usually order the Chicken Parmesan and it is very tasty. You need to bring your own wine. If you forget it isn't a problem as there is a wine store about a quarter mile away on Sussex Tpk. The staff is friendly and very attentive. Excellent is a good place to start. Once you get inside you forget you are in a strip mall on a back busy road in NJ. I have read & heard many good things about this place. It exceeded all my expectations. The service from start to finish was warm friendly & professional. They are on your table all night without being instrusive or disruptive. The food was stellar. For the price it's almost criminal how inexpensive it is. We did the prix fixe menu. Both our appetizers were delicious. I had the mussels fra diavlo. I half expected a small proportion but it was a hearty size. The sauce was perfect not overpowering heat on the spice, but a delightful kick. My date had the eggplant rolantini which was nicely prepared. She throughly enjoyed it. She had the veal milanese, I had pork osso bucco with fettuccini. Both were excellent again hearty portions that were cooked perfectly. Her veal was a nice big crunchy juicy piece. My osso bucco was a mouthwatering scrumptious hunk of meat. Again the sauce was spot on. I was stuffed but we still had dessert as part of the prix fixe. She had the riccoti cheesecake which was devine. I had the tiramisu which was heavenly. I rarely tap out when eating but had too. I was stuffed with incredibly home cooked italian food. The total damage before tip was $55. Which is an absolute steal. After hearing good things about this place I decided to give it a try. I've passed this restaurant a few times and didn't even notice it was there! Upon arrival, I noticed the nice little outdoor section which unfortunately was closed. Would have loved to sit outside. When we walked through the front door, we were immediately greeted by a hostess and seated. This place is a BYOB and we decided to bring a bottle of champagne. Our waiter immediately switched out wine glasses for champagne glasses and poured us each a glass and kept the bottle cold in an ice bucket. Our waiter and additional servers continually made sure our water/champagne glasses were topped off and that everything was okay. The food was very good and full of flavor. And with that, the prices were more than fair. I was stuffed after my meal. Our waiter politely let us finish our champagne prior to slamming the check on our table. Once we received our bill, I was surprised on how low it was (BYOB helps). The place also became crowded (6-7pm), guess they are doing something right. read more

My family and I had a delicious dinner at Verona last night. My kids ( 5 and 7 years old) cleaned their plates. My kids had Chicken Francaise, I had Veal Sorrentino, My husband ordered Homemade Bucatini. Everything was very tasty!! Service is outstanding, food came on time and hot. Also I liked that the restaurant has enough lighting but not too bright. I hate to go to the places that is too dark so you can't even see what you are eating. Best part- BYOB. Ate here with my boyfriend who I took on a surprise dinner date. We LOVED this place. I made reservations to sit out side but it rained, the inside was very very nice and classy. When it comes to service I appreciate seeing the same faces whenever I go back to a restaurant and here we do, and of course and it is always good to receive a "hello, how are you?" or a hand shake when we arrive from most of the staff we have become familiar with. I think that is what this restaurant wants, they want to get to know you and knowing service means the most they, in my opinion, have the best service in this area! Went here on a weekday after someone recommended it to us and was pleasantly surprised. I live in town and pass the restaurant all the time but have never been to it. The place was very quaint and had great service. It is also a byob which is a plus. The only complaint I had was there were not a lot of options for vegetarians. Usually at Italian restaurants they have some sort of eggplant dish and this place only had eggplant as an appetizer. Verona Restaurant does not disappoint. The food, from appetizer, to salad, to main dish, to dessert were all delicious. I loved the little touches of mixed sauces in the appetizers and salads. Went to this restaurant after seeing a coupon in the clipper mag. Made a reservation on a recent Sat. night for 2 people @ 6:30. Welcomed and seated promptly at 6:30,. Very nice ambience, lots of tables, full house at that time. Waiter came within 5 mins. to open & pour wine. Ordered apps, salads and entrees. Apps and salads came out at same time. I'm used to apps first, salads next, then entrees. Felt a little rushed. Entrees came out a while later. Ordered the chicken Marsala & the chicken Scarpariello. Both dishes were decent, but lacking in seasoning. Bland to say the least. Just missing that oompf. Also, the waiter never came over to check to see if dinners we're ok. Big negative in my book. I didn't have that feeling that the wait staff cared if I was there or not. I'll give it another try but will order pasta next time. It's hard to mess that up. With a more personable wait staff and a little more attention paid to the details, this could be the place to be on any given night. A diamond in the rough for now. read more

Most notably, all meals arrived at the same time, a difficult task since a mix of seafood, chicken and pork dishes was ordered. Everyone (we are an Italian family) thought the food was excellent. Came to this hidden gem for dinner with my family and couldn't have hoped for better food. Extremely tasty and healthy salad selection. Had the pork Osso bucco entree with fettuccine Alfredo sauce. The meat practically fell off the bone and the portion size was quite generous. The wait staff was extremely helpful and the owner came over several times to check up on us. Dessert menu had something for everyone. Chocolate souffle did it for me but mom and dad had tiramisu and the Butterscotch Banana Rum cake. Overall, superb dining experience. My family recently had my grandmother's birthday celebration here and from the minute we walked in we were treated with excellent service. It was a big party and they graciously greeted us and took our coats immediately. They even had a gift table set up which was very thoughtful. The food was absolutely excellent.
