Wow, this place makes some good pasta. Hit it for lunch and am glad we did. I had carb overload the…read morerest of the day though! Hailey, our server, did a great job. Nice lady and was there when you needed her to be. I got the Pasta Milano and loved it. Alot of sauce which I enjoy. It has pepper flakes and tends to be a little hot. You can have them adjust the amount of heat. My wife had the Mushroom and Spinach Raviolis. She really liked them. I tried one and it was darn good. I had the split pea soup for a starter, and it was good. My wife had a side salad and enjoyed it. Clean place, pleasant atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

In all my years of waitressing and working in an Italian restaurant, I would never have thought it…read morewas acceptable to serve food in that condition. A proper sear adds flavor, but actual char is bitter and completely overpowers the Marsala wine and mushrooms. Large areas of burnt crust aren't just a cosmetic issue--they ruin the dish and should be replaced, not served to a customer. What made it even more disappointing was that I was expecting a fine dining experience. Instead, I've honestly received better food quality and service at much more casual restaurants. Everyone else at my table enjoyed their meals, so unfortunately I seem to have been the exception, but that doesn't make it acceptable. I left feeling frustrated and confused as to how this plate ever made it out of the kitchen. Thank you for your response. I understand restaurants appreciate the opportunity to correct issues while customers are still there. My concern wasn't that the chicken had "grill marks" or that I didn't understand what Chicken Marsala is. The sauce and mushrooms covered the chicken, so I didn't realize how badly it was burnt until I had already taken several bites. Once I moved the sauce aside, I found it was charred to the point that it tasted burnt and was inedible, which is why I left the meal exactly as shown in my photo. I left because I was disappointed, not because I wanted to leave a negative review. Calling me a "keyboard warrior" instead of addressing the condition of the food or why it even came out of the kitchen in that condition in the first place only reinforces why I felt compelled to share my experience at your establishment.

From the host, to…read moreour waitress, to the food and overall ambiance--it was more than just dinner, it was an experience. The service was prompt, welcoming, and incredibly family-friendly (we had our toddler with us and felt totally comfortable). It really gave that warm, authentic Italian family vibe. Before our meal even arrived, we were treated to bread, polenta with meat sauce, salad, and soup--such a generous and delicious start! Appetizers: * Tomato bruschetta - served on flatbread with the perfect balance of olive oil, spices, and fresh tomato * Salami & olive tray - simple, classic, and nostalgic in the best way Entrees: * Chicken Parmigiana - perfectly cooked with a rich marinara, served with vegetables (we added gnocchi with pesto--highly recommend!) * Veal Milanesa - beautifully breaded and full of flavor, with veggies and pasta of the day * Veal Saltimbocca - packed with flavor, especially the sage--definitely a standout dish * Child's spaghetti & meatball - perfect portion and a great option for little ones Dessert: * Lemon berry mascarpone cake - dense, lemony, and filled with fresh blueberries, topped with a raspberry drizzle--just the right amount of sweetness * Vanilla ice cream for the toddler (they even offered chocolate syrup--thoughtful touch!) Pricing felt very reasonable for the amount and quality of food--comparable to other spots in the area. If you're looking for a special, memorable dining experience in Amador County, Giannini's is absolutely worth a visit!

We are…read morevegetarians and a lot of the other restaurants that were open (6pm on Friday) did not have veggie options surprisingly. I figured we couldn't go wrong with italian and this place was very close. I walked in and immediately loved the look of the restaurant. If you've been to Buca di Beppo it's kind of like that with lots of photos on the wall and italian statues around. It wasn't too busy and we were able to be seated right away. The table was set with a cute salad plate that I just loved the pattern of. Our waiter was young but friendly enough. The menu isn't the largest but it has all the staples. No pictures so I took to Yelp and Google to get a look at the food and see was was recommended. I settled on Eggplant Parmesean and my husband went with Fettuccini al Alberto. The waiter brought out bread and butter and parmesan cheese. The bread was ok, it didn't seem homemade and was a little bit like store brought sliced white bread. I was starving though so I welcomed anything to get started. I wish there had been olive oil and vinegar though. Next he brought out a big plate of polenta, which unfortunately was smothered in meat sauce. We had mentioned to him that we were vegetarians twice when we were ordering, so it was pretty disappointing to be presented with a meat dish. We pointed to him we couldn't eat the polenta with the meat sauce and he apologized but they did not offer to replace the dish with a regular red sauce. I was bummed because it looked really good and I really wish they had brought out a regular one. Seems like they could just use the red sauce as a standard so it After that there was a salad which had a red wine vinegar and olive oil, it also came with peppers, chickpeas and celery, which I thought was a nice way to add some color and flavor to the salad. We then were brought a lentil soup in a large blue bowl. The blue bowl seemed like an odd vessel but it worked. The soup was very tasty! Finally our entrees came. The entree portions were a little on the smaller side compared to other restaurants, however it is an appropriate amount considering how many appetizers they provide before it. I was surprised the eggplant parm didn't come with a side of spaghetti, but I could add some for $5. The eggplant was good, not overly fried and the red sauce was very tasty. My husband was very happy with the Fettuccini al Alberto (which was basically Alfredo). Overall this is kind of a funny place that had a quirky charm. I would come back again knowing what to ask for in terms of the polenta.

We got there right when they were opening I think. I love the decor. It's warm and classy. We got a booth (always get the booth Fellas). Our waiter, I can't remember his name which is lame on my part, was excellent. He also made our drinks. Jason?? I'll certainly update the review with his name and totally my bad. I hope you get him. He was excellent. It felt like one of the owner's was helping us. He knows he stuff. He's also charming and friendly. He was great. We'll certainly be back. We are totally going to work our way down their menu. I highly recommend this place. Paul!!! I totally messed up his name. My bad. We're back and he custom made me this drink! It was delicious! An overweight waitress with black pulled back hair and heavily applied makeup showed up at our table with obvious contempt written all over her face. From the moment she approached our table, she seemed unhappy to be serving us. Her attitude was curt, uncooperative, and made us feel unwelcome. When I asked simple questions, she reacted as though I was inconveniencing her, responding with visible irritation and a dismissive tone. It became clear she was upset that we chose to sit outdoors. When she returned with our water, she was visibly sweating, flustered and frustrated, and probably worried about her heavily applied makeup running in the heat... so the entire interaction felt strained. If outdoor seating is open and available, customers shouldn't be made to feel guilty or unwelcome for choosing it. It's disappointing, because we actually enjoyed the food. But no matter how good a meal is, I won't return to a place where I'm treated with contempt. This was our first and last visit to Verona Cucina Italiana.
