We've visited this pizza place twice now, and it has quickly become one of our favorites! The pizza is absolutely delicious, and the breadsticks are just as amazing. What really stands out, though, is the outstanding service. Both visits were wonderful. I can't remember the name of our server the first time, but they were fantastic as well. They close at 10pm! We love the food here. We pretty much stopped going to the Cafe when the pizza place is open. I haven't gotten a pizza I don't like. The breadsticks are great. The appetizers are awesome. We like the tots with the beer cheese. The service can be slow at times but it's been great the last couple times we have gone there. A salad made with shredded lettuce (which should only be used for sandwich toppings) is a poor decision. I'm here for a couple days at the Black Oak Casino. We went down stairs the eat at the The Charlie I had a personal pizza the chuck. I always order the Chuck at the St, Charles in Columbia. This personal pizza was amazing, that first bite the flavors and garlic explodes in your mouth. The crust is made fresh everyday. This is a cool place on the bottom floor of the Black Oak Casino. Chill atmosphere. Next to the bowling alley. We had three pizzas. Two personal pizzas that were larger than I thought. I could have easily shared one. My wife and daughter got a small Buffalo Chicken that was not small! They said that they could have split a personal. My Columbian pizza was loaded! Loved it. 2nd visit here and not disappointed! The beer cheese w/bread sticks is great! Cheese bread is so cheesy its nuts. Caliente calzone is a great combo of sweet and heat. Only made it through half of a large but its coming home with me to demolish later. Definitely recommend it if you like spicy food. Wife said the pulled pork pizza is fantastic, and she'd definitely order it again. Our waitress Andriana was great, helped us box everything up for our ride home and kept our drinks topped up. 2nd time here. We decided to use our food credit. Love the sports vibe of the restaurant and everyone is so friendly. Hubby got the caliente calzone and I got the pulled pork pizza. We love the St. Charles Saloon, and the Charlie is a great location closer to home. The benefit is my favorite pizza is a staple on the Charlie's Menu and it only runs as a special at the original. The Cubano is my absolute favorite pizza, and I never thought It would be but its soo flavorful and delicious. Its a large plus that they serve Crow & Wolf on tap at both locations but very happy that they have Lady Marmalade available on tap. Our Waitress was super friendly and attentive, offered great suggestions for drinks. The restaurant is located on the family floor of Black Oak Casino in the old Mill spot. The sports memorabilia all over the walls is awesome. The service was pretty good. We got there a little before opening and they allowed us to sit and take our order and said they don't start cooking until 12. No problem. The pizza was decent and loaded with toppings. I will ask for extra sauce next time. The issue was the Italian sandwich. The hard wax peppers with the stems inside the sandwich ruined the taste. My girlfriend and I have been coming here for a while now. Had Justin for the first time tonight. I'm not even kidding when I say he gave us the best service I've had in my life! Not just at The Charlie, but in my life! I worked in the restaurant industry for 14 years, so I'd like to think I know quality service. He was SUPER attentive, VERY nice, and VERY social! My daughter's name is Charlie so she was excited to see the name of this place. It is located inside the bowling alley at Black Oak Casino. I've been coming to this bowling alley for a few years and the name and food has changed a couple of times. The Charlie's menu is much smaller than the previous place which isn't necessarily a bad thing. They focus on pizzas and hot sandwiches mostly, but they also offer a few different appetizers and salads as well. I was a bit bummed when we arrived because I was hoping for the typical chicken tenders and nachos that they usually have (weird I know), but we ended up ordering the Loaded Breadsticks which came with bacon and wax peppers! It was pretty good and held us over until we left. They seemed a bit understaffed and were slow because of it, but it happens! If you are bowling, they will bring your order to your lane. They also have a restaurant area where you can sit away from the bowling alley and a large bar you can sit at as well. I think we'll order a pizza or a hot sandwich next time! Just an overall terrible experience with our server Justin. We are over 60 and he carded us for wine. That's ok, no issues. He said it's the policy at all Black Oak restaurants. I told him that Seven Sisters didn't card us, again, we are over 60. The manager came to our table and informed us that Justin was triggered and refused to serve us. We could stay and eat but we are not allowed alcohol. We have been wavering back and forth between Black Oak and Chicken Ranch. 15 years of Black Oak is behind us now as Justin is the single reason we will be taking our business to the new place. read more

My husband likes to support them a little more directly than I do - but nonetheless - we both appreciate that it exists. The Charlie is owned and run by the same people of St. Charles saloon in Columbia. They serve fresh pizza, calzones, and sandwiches, in addition to seasonal specials... and of course local charm. My husband has become a particularly big fan of their Islander pizza, their take on the Hawaiian pizza , with extra veggies. In between big bites of his recent takeout order from here (which ended up lasting 4 meals!) - he remarked that he appreciated the solid crust on the pizza- and how generous they were with the toppings. He also enjoyed the cesar salad which he ordered In addition to their Islander Pizza, The Charlie serves up a variety of fun pizzas, including a Cubano pizza, a pulled pork BBQ pizza, and even a dill pickle pizza (this is one of their more popular ones). It's a large service size almost like a small pizza.. the salad was great, and the Burger pizza was good, but I would not order it again (just because it had lettuce and it probably doesn't reheat well lol). Stopped in for some pizza to see if it's as good as it's sister location in Columbia. The restaurant hasn't changed much in terms of decor but it was clean and not too busy when we got there (around 2:00pm on a Sunday). We were promptly seated and had our drink order taken and our drinks brought out. Our server was very nice and made sure to check on us often - entering a few well timed jokes in as well. I think his name badge said Joseph (but I could be mistaken). We got the chuck, the pickle pizza, and the special breadsticks. Hubby had never tried their pizza and immediately fell in love with the pickle pizza. All the things we ordered were delicious, and the best part was the toppings were fresh and plentiful. We were at the black oak lanes for my nephews birthday. Went to the bar to order pizza and was third person waiting. After the two ahead of me, a lady unknowingly cut in front of me, then the bar tender look at me a pointed to another guy saying he was ahead of me which he was there 5 mins after I started standing there. Finally ordered my pizza and fondu with bread and asked for ranch. Bartender said ranch would come out with pizza . Bread and fondu came out with no issue but a little attitude. After some time my pizza came out but my brothers (ordered same time) didn't come out. The guy with my pizza kinda slammed the pizza down and tried to rush off before I stopped him and asked where the ranch was... he said " you'll have to walk over and get it"! We waited for the other pizza while we bowled and as our bowling time got closer to ending, we asked a waitress if we could possibly just get a table in the restaurant since we wouldn't have a spot to enjoy our pizza if it didn't get there soon... she responded that the restaurant tables were for paying customers only! We were floored with that response since we had already paid for pizza from the restaurant. Finally got our pizza and rushed to eat it while burning the last 15 minutes of our bowling time eating in a hurry. I love Saint Charles and the Charlie, but that was disappointing and the pizza was not the quality I expected out of them as the pizza is usually amazing. I know people have bad days, but it don't work out great when the entire staff is having a bad day and takes it out on PAYING CUSTOMERS!!! After this experience I'm here to be their first 1 star review. So disappointing and hope they fix this for future visit and hopefully add a couple stars to my review! read more
