Just got my bike back from a tune-up and it looks as good as new. I'm not a bike expert, so I've had a couple used bikes brought in to get them checked out. He could have easily oversold me things I didn't need but more often than not tells me that what I have is good enough. Definitely a trustworthy business compared to a lot of bike shops that would take advantage of people like me. His prices are fair and the mechanic he has goes above and beyond the call of duty every time he's touched my bikes. Definitely recommend this place. read more

If you are in Bay Ridge and in need of a Bicycle shop then you will need to find Verrazano. I use Verrazano because I can find Bontrager products and the service is good. My Trek bike is getting old but still runs smoothly because of Tommy (owner) and his staff. On my most recent trip I purchased a new helmet, a new tire, and had the battery in my odometer replaced. Wish I would have read the prior posts about thos place being scammers ,I cane here on Sunday 7/7 to repair a flat ,that didnt even put my bike on the proper rack to repair and didnt check to see why I got the flat ,I drove my bike home after for 7 blocks and the next day I had a flat again ,they never took out the piece of glass from tire ,I went back to the shop the following day expecting maybe a sorry but i was accused by the owner of driving the bike and getting another flat ,like come on what are the chances for 7 blocks he basically called me a liar to my face and they never apologized for not doing the proper repair in fiest place he tried to charge me 5.00 for a made up part that I didnt request or needed to be changed, I would highly recommend avoiding this place . read more

My 3rd bike shop in my tour and it's a 3.5. The gentleman didn't seem very friendly at all and didn't appear to empathize any regarding the fact that I'm a new rider. While they had a large selection of Trek bikes and I also tried a Raleigh as well, their prices seems just a bit steep and they only service you for one year whereas the previous place offered three. Later in the weekend I actually ended up purchasing a used $160 Trek which they offered me at $400 ($440 retail) new. read more

Completely disorganized. I came here on the recommendation from a friend, now I'll think twice about his recs. I bought a bike and dropped off my cousin's for a tune up 3 days ago. The bike is 5 years old and hasn't been touched in a few years. Things being where they are (Pandemic) we decide now is a great time to fix his bike and start riding again as a safe group activity. Fast forward to today and my cousin goes to the bike shop to pick it up. It's under my name. He meets resistance from the shop owner and starts interrogating him on the brand of the bike, if he had a phot of the bike, etc. I text him a photo of my ID and even after showing it to him he makes him walk home empty handed and tells him I have to show up in person. I show up 4 hours later AFTER WORK expecting to smooth things out and AGAIN I meet resistance after patiently waiting for 20 minutes. Do I have a photo of the bike? Do I know the brand? Where's the ticket? I tell em hey sorry man I lost the ticket but can't you look up my information or something from when I dropped it off? He ignores me and continues to show me the bike and tells me to send a pic to my cousin to confirm that it's the correct bike. After confirmation he tells me to double confirm. Ok I send ANOTHER photo. Then one of the worker says "hey, can't you just check the ticket for his info." He quietly goes behind the counter and pulls out SURPRISE SURPRISE A COPY OF THE TICKET FOR THE EXACT BIKE in front of us. I get irate and tell him "You make me show up after work and give me so much trouble for this when you had that this whole time?! I give you all this business and you treat me like this? AND ANOTHER THING YOU SHOULD BE WEARING A MASK!" Yeah, never going back. read more

Unprofessional and no one wore a mask there. I went to install a star nut into a fork and I had to wait 30 minutes when one was in the shop. When i came back for the fork, the star nut was installed unstraightened where the top cap can not even screw in. The nut was so unstraight that it couldn't even be screwed in. Not only that, but the man who was there was really rude about it. The star nut couldn't even be straight out after this since it was so jammed in and crooked. Would not recommend this bike shop. He royally fucked me over. The starnut cannot be removed either where it is now stuck. Today my star nut was loose and when I tried to tighten it it completely came out and was all bent. This man did a horrible job and he always raves that he had served Bay Ridge for however many years but that doesnt mean anything since he could not install a simple star nut. Indeed this shop has been providing service 30 years but it doesnt mean it is good service. It is a shop that does not care about others ran with a man with a god complex who hates his job. If you ever think about visiting this shop, RUN. This isnt the first time someone has the same opinion about this shop and owner look at the reviews. read more

Things I like about this shop. They really know their stuff and they are really nice. My bike has been tuned up twice here. My bike had been put together very badly and it's much better now. Things I don't like. They are super expensive and they just cheated me. I went there to buy a basket for my bike and was charged $45.00. I was so happy but when I came home and looked up the price on line, I found that it sells for $25 - $29.00. I thought it was weird when the salesperson told the owner how much the basket cost. I got into a mini accident on the way to my friend's house and luckily came upon Verrazano Bicycle Shop on the way. The owner took a look at my bike, adjusted the handle bars, and took the initiative to check the brakes and the air pressure on the tires. He spoke Yemen to his employees which was encouraging since there were many Yemenese in the neighborhood and he had the store for thirty years. This bike shop is almost ten miles away from me and based on the customer service, I would go out of my way to buy a bike from them. read more

I just bought my first bike since like 1998, and they answered all of my questions, made sure I had everything I needed, adjusted the bike, and let me ride around the block a few times! If you need a great place to spend a lot of money and get horrible service, this is the place for you! Brought two bikes in to get overhauled with the addition of new tires, tubes, grips and grip tape and man, I was sorry I did so. First things first, an overhaul is a complete disassembly of the bicycle, cleaning, and then the bike is put back together piece by piece making sure that it runs flawless. What I received though, was a really horrible tune up. When I arrived to pick up the bikes (1 week later, I had to call them to make sure the bikes were ready) the woman at the register first made me pay for the services done before seeing the bikes. (FYI bill of over $500 for the services listed above) After I paid, they brought the bikes in from outside, and immediately I noticed how filthy they we're. The rims were full of dirt and dust and upon touching it, my fingers turned black with grime, also they didn't install the grips on the bikes. So I asked them about the grips, and they did that in about 2 minutes flat. While I was waiting for that, the women at the register was pushing a sale for a $75 led bike light to a customer who didn't really sound like she needed such an expensive light, she just seemed like she needed a $5 one like I got off Amazon. After the grips we're installed I asked them about the cleanliness of the bikes, which they rudely replied, they are spotless. I laughed and showed them what happens when I touch the rim with a clean finger. They said the level of grime is normal from a bike. I again showed them with another clean finger and they told me that that was there from leaving the bikes outside the shop during the day. After much arguing, I insisted they be cleaned, and they finally agreed to clean it. When I came back 3 hours later to pick it up, it was still filthy. The owner smirked at me and said rudely "is that good enough for your liking?" I didn't respond, i just took my bikes and left. Not only will I not be going back here ever again, but you shouldn't either. Not a place that belongs in bay ridge. read more

This is the best bike shop I've been to in Brooklyn. The staff is friendly, experienced, and very knowledgeable. If you are looking for a quality bike, you will be pleased with this place's selection. I came to here as a bike noob and they helped me pick out a great entry level road bike + gear. They were frank with me about the pros/cons of different models and brands. There were no surprises later on with anything I have bought here. They also taught me some basics like how to change a tire, clean the chain, etc. I dropped by a few times with other questions and have always been adequately helped. Pricing is fair. I'm a big fan of the Verrazano Bike Shop. As an avid biker, these guys help me out all the time with answers to questions that I should already know the answer to. I appreciate their honesty, too. I once brought a bike in for a tuneup, and they asked if I was certain because the quality of the bike didn't really meet the value of a tuneup. I did the tuneup, but they were right. It wasn't long before the bike wasn't a great option for riding anymore. I think everyone who rides a bike regularly should have 'their guy' that they trust. As I've become a more experienced cyclist over the years, these guys have remained 'my guys'. read more

Bad service, the Asian guy who owns it is just there to gouge ignorant older people in bay ridge who don't know what work they need. On one occasion I went in there asking for a brake adjustment, which they did for me, but there was another issue with the assembly that the mechanic surely would have noticed but said nothing about since I didn't ask. Had to go back the same day, so two trips and almost 60 bucks later I got two adjustments for the price of a full setup. On another occasion I went in looking for advice about saddles, and the guys attitude was "buy something or leave". Bad shop. My advice, take the r and go to dixons. read more

In July I purchased a bike from Tomas- told him I signed up for a three day bike tour and hadn't ridden a bike in years. He helped me pick out a bike and told me how I should train. I recently had my rear wheel and rear derailleur destroyed by a garbage bag that flew into my bike during a windy day (spokes broken, hub not spinning freely, derailleur arm snapped off). Brought my bike here with a new derailleur, right before they closed, and they quickly looked at the damage and estimated cost for all repairs. I had an extra wheel, so they said I could bring it in the next day to replace the busted one. When I came back the next day, they had already fixed everything, including my wheel, so I ended up saving a wheel. The cost ended up being less than the estimate, and with a quick turn around. Bonus points for giving me advice on my riding posture and seat positioning, which ended up resulting in a noticeable increase in power and helping out my back. read more

Unfriendly. I was on a short ride when my rear wheel started having problems. It was binding and could see no reason. I thought i was in luck as i knew a bike shop was a few blocks away. Two men were standing in front of what appeared to be an open store. They did not move from the door as tried to enter the store. Saying only that they were closed. I don't know if they were closed or not as i saw no posted hours on the door. i ended up having to walk my bike all the way home. I will not be returning to this store. read more

I just purchased the marin bolinase for my son. He loves it. It was a smooth transaction. Tom even let my son try the bike before he purchased it. Prior to the sale,he made sure every screw and cable and gear was perfect. I highly recommend this shop as opposed to others on coney island Avenue in sheepshead bay. 1 year warranty on the frame as well. I bought a Trek at this shop. With it, I got a one year warranty to service this bike for free. Unfortunately, the service here is terrible. The last time I needed a repair, I entered the shop and told them my problem. I was not really acknowledged or told whether I should wait or come back. Not knowing what else to do, I waited five or so minutes. Soon, my bike is rolled out and the man who was working on it said it was now fine. I was not told was the cause of the problem was or if I should expect any other problems to arise in the near future. Furthermore, my bike was far from fine. The one and only problem I had was not fixed! My bike was exactly the same when it come out as it was when it came in. I would not recommend anyone come here for service. Even with the free service warranty, it's not worth the terrible job that they provide. Additionally, their prices are rather high compared to some of the other shops I have been to. From now on, I will pay for my repairs at a different establishment. read more

just had a really weird experience there. i dropped 500. on a new bike. they kindly offered to transfer my add-on stuff from my old bike to my new, that's nice, but then the mechanic split while i was paying without adjusting the seat height, handle bars or anything. i asked him about it as he was leaving; he said that he made the saddle the same height as my old bike, but hello, my old bike was ancient! sure enough, the seat is about two inches too low. knees in my chin all the back to red hook ~ wish i'd made my purchase somewhere closer to home. read more

I went back in and decided to get the 7.2 as it was a bit cheaper. I am getting a few accessories to personalize my bike and to get the requirements by law. She becomes pushy, and I again explained I am being nice to her, back it up. I normally would pound someone in the ground on price, but thought if I am going to be going back for future sales and service, I better not be that kind of douche. Figure Ill get what I pay for. (Fast Forward) Christmas eve someone steals my bike, merry Christmas, So I go back, A little distraught and talk to Emily. They put my bike on the stolen bike register, thanks I guess, and needing a bike, I asked about the one I really wanted, she tells me 1200.00, OK no deal, and not in my range, I buy the 7.5 I originally put a deposit on, Getting my accessories I inquired about a bike computer, 110.00 with sensors, so no, I will defiantly have to wait, but will defiantly come back for it. I go to the bank to make my deposit and return to pick it up. I go back to pay, bill is 1130.00 I said how, should be roughly a thousand. She rattles off the items, and gets to computer, I said what the hell, I said I had to wait, she motions to the mechanic to not install it. I buy the bike and leave. That was eating at me for a few days. Not only did she not make me a deal, (not her or the shops fault it got stolen) but to slide a computer on the bill like I was stupid. I go back a few days later, I really wanted the purple one, I love purple, sue me. I ask again, she states 1,200.00 for the bike. Fine order it. I want it. I leave, and again its burning in the back of my brain, why did I over pay in a place like this, if they have NO customer loyalty. So I call Verrazano bike shop, explain the story, he is willing to give me the 7.6 for way less and doesn't know me form a can of paint. I go back, figure let me talk to a manager and see whats going on. I find out Emily is a manager, and threw my hands up. I returned the bike. Now she wants to talk price, lol we already did. So for her 1,305 bike and tax, I went to Verrazano bike shop, got my purple 7.6,+ upgraded aluminum pedals,+ upgraded seat, + water bottle holder, for 1,300 with all taxes. The kicker, the mechanic grabbed a water bottle and slid it in my holder as I was walking out. Save yourself the head ache, and just take the extra few minutes to go to Bay Ridge, those guys are awesome. read more

I walked in looking for tools and accessories for my bike. The two sales people at the counter were talking with each other, and one of them was eating (yes, right there at the register). I stood next to them and waited a bit without getting a reaction, until I told them I need to buy some things. This all would be fine, except neither of them knew what any of the bike tools or parts were. How does a bike shop not know what a peg, lug wrench, allen key, air pump w gauge or even a BMX bike are?! In fact, the chewing 'salesman' asked ME what some of these were. They have a decent selection of various bikes, but when it comes to anything else, like tools or service, they are unprofessional and total retards! I wouldn't suggest anyone buy any bikes here either, since they obviously won't be able to service them for you properly. I would give this shop negative stars if I could! read more
