Very impressed with our experience with Vertical Automotive. This mechanic was probably the only mechanic in the entire county of Broward that would agree to work on a full EV. My husband's Nissan Leaf was experiencing AC issues and we were quoted an astronomical amount of money by the dealership to fix a what we thought was a small repair. Majority, if not all all of the non-dealership repair shops refused to work on a full EV's as they do not have the required qualifications. Reece from Vertical was super nice and very reassuring on my first phone call that they not only have the certification with the experience to do so. It was very easy to bring in and drop it off our vehicle. All of the staff we encountered was very friendly. They took about 2 to 3 days to diagnose the issue. It turns out that there really wasn't an issue to begin with, even though the dealership was convinced we had some sort of line leak. They ran a test that the dealership didn't even offer us to run. And determined that the AC was working normally it just needed a little bit of time to warm up ironically. Upon picking up my vehicle, the mechanic that worked on it actually recommended that we get the windows tinted, which would help with the AC since it's been so hot. He said that EV's run a little differently than gas vehicles when it comes to the AC. They even offered for us to bring the vehicle back if we were experiencing the same issue again. Overall, I highly recommend Vertical Auto. They are conveniently located on Oakland Park Boulevard and I-95. I will definitely be returning to them for our future mechanic related needs. read more

I have an SUV, and I do a lot of driving. One of the most important things to me is my AC. I didn't expect to be spending money on a car that's less than 2 years old to repair my air conditioning system. Laz and Reece, they took care of my vehicle. They gave me probably the most detailed breakdown of my vehicle that I've ever had in my entire life. When you get an inspection from this company, your vehicle is getting the best inspection ever. They pointed out what work needed to be done. They broke it down piece by piece by piece by piece so I could see everything that was happening with my vehicle. The quick review: In my sincere and honest opinion, Vertical Automotive is South Florida's best at its finest. Visiting Vertical with Laz & Reese for all your automotive needs is probably the soundest decision you can make concerning your vehicle. An in-depth look at my experience begins with my story... I have a 2008 Toyota Prius, the second generation hybrid system introduced on the planet; and in many regards, the ultimate standard of hybrid systems until today. Unfortunately, my car suffered the worst type of accident anyone can experience in South Florida. I was at a crossroads and rather than junk, sell my vehicle or purchase another car; I fixed it. It was worth the investment. It took a month before I would get it back and in the best condition possible, given the severity of the collision. However, it was not the parts that lacked cosmetically that concerned me; it was the integrity of the mechanical work done on the car. My decision haunted me and I did not want to rejoin society driving a vehicle that I was unsure of. I am talking about the entire suspension system being redone, including the K membrane of the car and several other key components, struts, sway bars, the front pillar welded back on the frame, suspension coils, you name it; the car had endured all these repairs. I was actually looking for a decent mechanic to further repair my friend's car that had also undergone tremendous strain and, upon my search, I stumbled upon Vertical Automotive. It was kind of far but had tremendous press and several key certifications and accolades under its belt. Finding a decent mechanic in South Florida or anywhere for that matter is difficult and I am a very gullible person thus how I ended up where I was at the time I found Vertical. I always give people the benefit of the doubt and I was excited to take my car there for a second opinion. There was only a rumbling sound upon speed bumps that gave me great concern. Upon receiving my appointment, Vertical followed up via email and text like a doctor's office. I was treated warm and friendly, not cold and unimportant like some other shops. Reese is serious and super knowledgeable and comes across as a friendly character. He is impressively young to know so much about cars, but somehow dazzles you every time with his insight. Vertical Automotive is very busy; they are the most thorough team you can get and that is why you have to get an appointment, because they are going to block some time for you that day, just like a doctor's office. I arrived right at 8am sharp and walked hurriedly through the door, making sure I was in on time. Reese greeted me first and asked for all my information which they fill out on a digital database for you and your car. I was then invited to their lounge, which is amazing and beyond words. They have refreshments, coffee, tea, soda pop, nuts, granola, all toppings for your coffee, water, flat screen smart tv at your bidding with Netflix and two long leather recliners for your comfort while you wait. Some folks are treated to a complimentary car wash when they are there all day and the rest is history as I took my seat and began working on my laptop while they fixed my car. In about an hour and a half time, Laz came with his iPad and went through every single point of inspection they conducted on my vehicle. There must have been close to 60 items on the list they address, inspect, comment on and diagnose with measurements, descriptions, explanations and photographs. No one will ever do this for you in a mechanic shop. No one cares that much about doing that. These people want to make you part of their family and treat your car as if it was part of their collection they intend to maintain to the fullest. It was an eye opening experience and how can you go anywhere else after something like that? I needed my wheel bearings, rear brakes and brake shoes replaced. These guys are super great, absolute top of the line and best at what they do. Suddenly, for no apparent reason the air-conditioning in my KIA Soul went wimpy on me. Though it cooled, it simply did not cool enough. So, not wanting to take it to my way overpriced, not so good for service dealership I turned to Yelp for help. Bingo! Yelp immediately came up with Five Star rated JAP Shop, Inc. When I first walked in, the super friendliness almost overwhelmed me. I'm just not used to auto mechanics being so friendly or downright nice. I told them my problem and they told me $45.00 to check it out and find the problem then if you want it repaired, the $45 will be credited against your repair bill. To me, more than fair and best off, I was able to get an appointment for the very next day. When I arrived for my appointment, I was warmly greeted, even met with a smile. Better yet, no waiting around. They immediately took my car into one of their shop bays and commenced work. As I waited for the work to be done, I got the chance to see their waiting area. It's clean, comfortable enough with free ice water but what really impressed me was a sign that said "Please help us by posting your review on Yelp, Google, Yahoo, Superpages, YP." So, here is a mechanics shop that has no fear whatsoever concerning what you may say about them because they know in advance, that with their good services, it's going to be a good review. Indeed a lot of places don't like reviews posted but with their offerings of inferior everything, for a good reason. Within an hour they had completely gone over and thoroughly diagnosed my air conditioning system. To my shock, everything checked out as being perfect. The problem was that someone had pushed a button on my dash shutting off the cabin air recirculation. With that shut off, I was bringing hot outside air into my system for cooling instead of recirculating precooled air from my cabin; hence cutting down the systems cooling capacity by a whopping twenty percent; not such a good idea on a swelteringly hot 94 degree day. So they got into my car with me, spent plenty of time showing me the buttons I didn't know about, and thoroughly explaining everything to me and showing me the proper settings. No get this! The fee that they charged me for completely analyzing my air system, and taking time to explain everything was only $46 something (taxes) to which they applied the initial $45. I know my dealership would have charged $250 minimum just to analyze the problem. Worse I would be willing to bet that, since I would have no way of knowing, been told the problem was a faulty compressor or something else; anything that would run up a big fat unnecessary dishonest bill with no credit for the $250 problem analyzing. So I just can't say enough good about JAP Shop, Inc. Their honesty and friendliness has me as one of their solid, will not even think of going anywhere else customers. read more

I've been to the JAP Shop for repairs twice, Once for a Lexus 430 SL which I was told by the Lexus shop that I needed brakes costing almost $1,400.00. I brought it to JAP and was told my brakes were good, and I wasn't EVEN Charged. I was so impressed. When I ran over a stone barrier with my Lincoln, I came in to make sure the underpanels were okay. A plastic divider for the express lane in Miami was laying on the ground and car in front of me ran over it kicking it backwards damaging the front bumper and front passenger wheel-well of my car. Not only did they manage to fix on short notice for a walk in, Manny rushed out to the the supplier and pick up the parts needed when they realized there was unexpected damage behind the lower valance.
