Al fresco dinner, protected from the rain
    Meredith R.

I usually choose a restaurant based on cuisine. Sometimes my decision is based on location. And tonight? I wanted a patio to get in the last licks of summer. Since it was overcast with a strong threat of rain, the patio needed a protective overhang. Vespucci's it is! Technically our dinner was 3.4 stars, rounded up because the patio was recently refurbished and just what I was looking for. Plus our server was solicitous and really good. We ordered a cheapie bottle of chardonnay -- $20, and it wasn't half bad! -- which we enjoyed with Vespucci's signature breadsticks and marinara sauce. As you can see from my photos, our entrees look good, but frankly lacked oomph! Bring on the garlic! Even the capers in T's chicken picata were bland -- which to be fair, may be the preference of their clientele. (Hey! We're not in New York, and I noticed a lot of seniors Saturday night.) We splurged on dessert, sharing an order of mini cannoli's. Some restaurants in GA fill cannoli shells with whipped cream -- a big yech! Vespucci's uses an authentic filling of ricotta, perhaps mixed with mascarpone and a drizzle of chocolate. Very good! All in all, a lovely evening with a not-half-bad dinner.

When in Canton....Vespucci's Italian Kitchen is located right off Canton Rd down the street from Kell High School. There is a Planet Smoothie and Ray's Donut in the same little plaza along with Waffle House. You can't miss this little Italian eatery. With baseball and basketball events in the area, the restaurant was busy. However our party was seated immediately. We were helped immediately though. We were talking and reviewing the menu when we noticed a waiter had not been to our table. It had been about 15 minutes since we were seated. I normally would leave at this point and eat elsewhere. I was overruled. Hostess stand was notified we hadn't been helped yet. A waiter came over a few minutes later to apologize and begin taking orders. An appetizer of garlic bread with marinara sauce was quickly brought out along with our drinks. Sweet tea wasn't Southern sweet tea but good. Yes I love my sweet tea if you've read my reviews. Ordered a bottle of rose as it had been a long week. Rose was perfect after long day basketball. The side salads came out with the appetizers. We ordered the calamari and fried ravioli. The calamari was cooked perfectly. It was gone in a flash. I heard the fried ravioli was good. I didn't get to try it. Darn kids! Lol! Side salads were fresh and just right amount dressing. Next the entrees, Greek salad with grilled chicken, NY strip steak, lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs. I was asked if I wanted a small or large salad. I said small with grilled chicken. What I received was basically a side salad with almost 2/3 a sliced chicken breast on top. Be mindful if you order a salad. It was good but needed more salad with my chicken. Lol. I wasn't super hungry after waiting so size of salad was fine. Son loved the lasagna in his personal container. There was nothing left. He said it was delicious. His friend enjoyed the spaghetti with meatballs. He only ate half as he was full. My son's dad enjoyed his NY strip steak. It was cooked to order and well seasoned. No steak sauce required. Mashed potatoes and Italian veggies were good as well. Coffee and a little something sweet. We got the Sea salt caramel cake and the chocolate mousse layer cake. Let me say I am not a sweet and salty kind of person. I am just not a fan. However, I didn't taste the salt and this cake just melts in your mouth. It was delicious. Gotta try it. Just right amount of caramel. Amazing! I am a chocolate person and the chocolate mousse cake was delicious as well. Think like Hersey semi sweet for the sweet level. I enjoyed that one as well. I heard the coffee was good. I was still sipping the Rose. So all in all the food and drinks were really good. The staff was friendly and informative of the menu. We had nice booth inside with plenty space to eat and enjoy our time. The waiting and not having a wait staff assigned and there were bigger parties rolling in just left a bad taste for me. Couple that with a long day of basketball and just doesn't sit well. I was ready to destress and enjoy a good meal. I might go back but wait a bit or less busy day. Our waiter apologized which was appreciated. I would have thought the manager would have come by to say Hi heard about the mishap sorry to hear that and hope everything got back on track and you had a good experience.

This Italian spot is really really good. I will definitely be back if ever in the area. On our road trip we decided to eat here and give it a try. We ordered: Sweet potato ravioli appetizer with bread on the side too. Chicken Milano -wife's meal Cheese pizza - mom's meal All meat calzone - my meal Food is outstanding. Service is outstanding. Cleanliness and seating was outstanding. Outstanding excellent fantastic experience! We all loved it here. Thank you for a great experience!

A bit pricey for what you get but food was descent. Think of it a cross between Ipp's and Frankie's. It's in a spot where there aren't many options so if you live close by, it's fairly convenient

    $13 for 3 mediocre Vespucci's Spicy Meatballs
    Abigail F.

We ordered the Vespucci meatballs and unfortunately they gave us three mediocre meatballs for $13. I get that this economy is in a dumpster fire but this is absolutely crazy. The only reason why I gave a review for two stars is because the rest of the food was pretty good but still cmon $13 for 3 meatballs??

The food was really good I am a big fan of pizza and kinda picky when it comes to it. I feel like it was perfectly cooked and it wasn't overloaded with cheese. My server Donna was very nice and helpful. The inside is nice not over bearing, I went in at lunch on a Wednesday so it was pretty calm and quiet. 10/10 I would recommend this place!

Highly disappointed in Vespucci's. I called in a pick up order about 2 hours in advance and requested a specific pick-up time, knowing that they may have a dinner rush considering it was a Friday night. Clearly the food had been prepared well in advance of the time I scheduled. Upon arriving the bartender had no record of my order, which had been stashed away in the kitchen somewhere. The bill was just shy of $40 for the pizza and 5 fried ravioli. Collectively the food couldn't have weighed more than about 12-16 oz. The pizza's crust had turned jerky and tough, barely had any prosciutto, cheese or sauce. The fried ravioli weren't crispy, and the superfluous mixed greens wilted into undesirable mush after absorbing their heat. If you're going to charge nearly $30 for a pizza & $10 for ravioli, at least live up to the price tag, hence the low rating.

    Gwen's birthday celebration at Vespucci's 10/28/23.

To Ray, Mike, and all of your wonderful staff, my birthday celebration with my family and friends was the best and most memorable we've ever had. Ray gave us an entire section for my fifteen guests, and our own personal servers. From my green apple martini to fried ravioli, artichoke spinach dip, to my chicken Parmesan, everything was generous portions and very delicious. All of my guests agreed, Vespucci's is The Most Authentic and Delicious Italian Restaurant we've been to since leaving New York City! We were treated like royalty from beginning to departure. One of my sisters gifted me a professional cake made into the shape of a white mustang with a red stripe down front, tires and tail lights. The hostess took care of my cake until we were ready to sing Happy Birthday! So special shout out to Ray who took my order and orchestrated effect event for me and my guests. Gwen La-Lande Ga. Over the bar was a large screen TV showing beautiful scenes of Italy, with contemporary Italian pop playing in the background. I started with the soup of the day, which was lobster bisque that was so full of lobster that I would call it a stew versus a soup. The complimentary bread was slightly toasted and topped with aromatic herbs that paired perfectly with the olive oil with which it was served. My entree was a special, and was the short rib. There was nothing "short" about it as the huge beef rib had a bone that overhung the plate that a caveman would be proud to own. The beef was fork tender and the steak knife provided with it wasn't necessary. It was paired with a delicious and sweet wine sauce. And the side was tender gnocchi (al tartufo) in a rich and creamy sauce flavored with truffle. Since they also have Risotto al Tartufo on the menu, that will definitely be on my list for my next visit. And I definitely want to bring my wife to that next visit because the flavor and food were so wonderful, it's a great place for a date night.

I thought I had already left a scathing review after my experience, but for some reason, I did not. I don't remember what I ordered the one and only time my husband and I ate at this restaurant, but I do remember that it was inedible, so I sent it back, and ordered something else. Later, when the bill arrived, I saw they had charged me for half of my first meal. So I flagged the server about it, and they were like "well you ate half of it " and I explained I had taken 2-3 bites, the later ones simply to make sure I did indeed dislike it, and then my husband had a bite to confirm I wasn't tripping and that it was in fact terrible. 3-4 bites was NOT half the meal. It wasn't even a quarter. When I tried to push back on that, I was told "well, we know what our portion sizes look like, and half the meat was missing." The crazy part about this is that they seemed to truly believe I had gotten double the meat portion they had actually put in front of me. It was enraging. We paid and vowed to never return. I have told anyone who would listen about the time a restaurant refused to comp an entree that sucked because they accused me of l y i n g about how much of the meal I had consumed. The crazy part is that my husband and I would have returned to try this place again had the staff just believed me from the jump that I wasn't trying to pull a fast one. I normally am never happy about a restaurant closing, but Piastra? Good riddance.

My wife and I have dined here twice now; once on our wedding night and again on our Anniversary…read more Neither time did they disappoint us, but this most recent visit my tagliatelle nero di mare pasta could have benefitted from a little adjustment. The overwhelming flavor came from the dried Calabrian chiles, which had not been reconstituted properly into the sauce, so it also left me wondering whether the gritty bites came from that or if the clams & mussels had been cleaned properly. Regardless, the sauce lacked depth. The fresh pasta clung together in clumps, an indication that the chef had not mixed it diligently during the cooking process, but from a visual perspective, it looked to be on point. I must confess, the lamb carpaccio is one of the most distinct, unique dishes that I have tasted in quite a while; as a caveat to that, it is a bold flavor profile, so if you prefer a neutral, familiar red meat such as beef, proceed with caution and an open mind. My wife had the lobster and cavatelli, which was by far the most fully developed dish of all, creamy savory richness coating slightly dense bites of pasta, reminiscent of gnocchi, and the lobster was definitely present, which is the exception rather than the rule with most creamy dishes advertised to contain lobster. Our server was attentive, professional, polite, personable & well spoken. I can't say that I have any critiques in that area. Though she did not introduce herself, I presume she was the owner, came by to ensure that our meal was more than satisfactory. Even the lady tending to our drinks revisited the table with diligence. The inside has a very open floor plan, although it could probably have a layout redesign so that some tables don't make some patrons feel as though they are in the way. The decor is a blend of industrial chic with modern, local art lining the walls, most pieces being slightly above average amateur status. They have a private dining area dedicated to larger parties if you plan ahead and give them notice. There seemed to only be one lavatory for the whole restaurant, but it's possible that I didn't look long enough. All in all, a nice place for Italian food if you want to break free from the typical American-Italian offerings. Our meal was $130 for two entrees, two glasses of wine, an appetizer and a desert, with tip included. I'd say that's about on par with just about every other restaurant that doesn't have a drive thru. Buon appetito & mangia!

However we were given continuous updates on when the table would be ready, they apologized, and they were very understanding.
