    Rosati's Monster Deep Dish
    Beth M.

I forgot how amazing these pizzas are!! So delicious! One piece is a meal. I ordered 2 medium deep dish and one thin crust pepperoni......for 6 people including two bottomless pit teenage boys. I had more than one pizza leftover.....which was no trouble because it is delicious for leftovers! Pizzas were delivered by a friendly driver who told me "two hands" when he handed them to me, because they are so heavy!! Great pizza! Just don't over order!

We tried this new Chicago style pizza restaurant based on the high praise and recommendations of my brother-in-law who grew up and lived in Chicago for 30+ years. I called in our order for a 16" Rosati's Monster (Thin Crust with Italian sausage, meatball, pepperoni, onion, black and green olives, mushroom, and green pepper with bacon) The cracker like thin crust was excellent and all the toppings were delicious. The toppings were all covered with mozzarella cheese. It was awesome and flavor packed pizza. There were two of us eating this so the 16" was too big and we will likely get a 14" next time. This carry out restaurant is located in a small strip shopping center next to the Lowe's on Dallas Highway. Service was super friendly and very helpful. This is a must try pizza if you like true Chicago style pizza and assorted appetizers.

We have eaten here three times now. All of the food is great! The second time we had the thin crust pizza. We liked it even better than the deep dish pizza. Cracker like crispy crust and they cover the toppings with cheese. Yum! The last time we had the spaghetti and sausage and Italian beef sandwiches. Reminds me of what I used to get in Chicago. The sandwich was my favorite. What to try next???

Not horrible pizza but nothing great. Did takeout on a Saturday night, excited to try this new place that opened up down the road. Takeout only and the place was hopping. Credit to the girl who took my order and the two working the front, they were polite and fairly efficient. Grabbed the large veggie thin crust. Pretty pricey, but most things are now. The crust was good, pizza was ok but not a veggie pizza. It was a cheese pizza with minimal veggies and certainly not what was represented in the pic, not even close. Because of decent service, will give them another try. Maybe is I specify less cheese and more veggies it will be better. I have hope.

Just wanted to write a quick update. See previous review - Exterior, Interior hasn't changed. Customer Service The young man who waited on us was polite, if a bit subdued. We chatted him up, asking him a ton of questions and he eventually warmed up to us. Lol. Price / Value I signed up for the coupons and I we were able to snag $4 off a deep dish this weekend. Chicago Deep Dish pizzas are so incredibly dense and filling. They aren't big and wide, so you might look at it and think, this isn't a lot of food ... but we have yet to finish a pizza in a single evening because it's stuffed with so many toppings! So it works out to be a pretty good value. Food Excellent! First visit, we got a pizza that had disproportionate toppings. Our most recent pizza didn't suffer from that issue. We got the Rosati's Monster and substituted pepperoni for Canadian bacon. The ratio of meat to veggies was perfect! Overall The only thing I wish they'd do is make sure they're truly cutting through the bottom crust. No way is that pizza making it home without an attempt to take a bite during the drive. So I made a huge mess trying to cut through the crust with a plastic knife. It was worth the tomato sauce stain on my white shirt though. Lmbo. Overall, I highly recommend this spot.

Oops Pizza was so good I didn't take a before picture.

We ordered a pepperoni deep dish pizza and ran a quick errand to Lowe's while it was being prepared. Such a convenient location! A neighbor from the Chicago area told us about this new spot opening nearby, and since there aren't any other Chicago-style pizza places or major chains close to us, we were excited to check it out. It's takeout and delivery only, but that worked just fine for us. The pizza did not disappoint. Crispy crust, perfectly cooked dough, fresh and flavorful sauce, and a generous amount of cheese and pepperoni. It's rich, hearty, and exactly what you'd want from a deep dish. I'll try to get a better photo next time. If you're craving Chicago deep dish, this place is absolutely worth trying. We'll definitely be back!

Over the bar was a large screen TV showing beautiful scenes of Italy, with contemporary Italian pop playing in the background. I started with the soup of the day, which was lobster bisque that was so full of lobster that I would call it a stew versus a soup. The complimentary bread was slightly toasted and topped with aromatic herbs that paired perfectly with the olive oil with which it was served. My entree was a special, and was the short rib. There was nothing "short" about it as the huge beef rib had a bone that overhung the plate that a caveman would be proud to own. The beef was fork tender and the steak knife provided with it wasn't necessary. It was paired with a delicious and sweet wine sauce. And the side was tender gnocchi (al tartufo) in a rich and creamy sauce flavored with truffle. Since they also have Risotto al Tartufo on the menu, that will definitely be on my list for my next visit. And I definitely want to bring my wife to that next visit because the flavor and food were so wonderful, it's a great place for a date night.

It was chilly went we visited, but on a nice day, the patio would be nice too. We ordered and were not in any kind of hurry. Probably a good thing, since the kitchen seemed to be very backed up and the food came out very slowly. The servers also seemed to be a little overwhelmed, so I'm wondering if the crowd was heavier than expected. Please don't take this as complaint - the service staff were very friendly and did their best to keep diners smiling. Unfortunately - the food was a little underwhelming. We ordered calamari - it was slightly over cooked and chewy. For dinner, we had the gnocchi and chicken saltimbocca. The safe in the chicken dish was overpowering (I ended up having to scrape it off) and the chicken was overcooked. It says a lot that my favorite thing on the plate was the sautéed spinach (which was delicious!). I really, really wanted to love this place, but I'm not sure I would visit again. There are too many places in this area that have much better food for the same price point.

I thought I had already left a scathing review after my experience, but for some reason, I did not. I don't remember what I ordered the one and only time my husband and I ate at this restaurant, but I do remember that it was inedible, so I sent it back, and ordered something else. Later, when the bill arrived, I saw they had charged me for half of my first meal. So I flagged the server about it, and they were like "well you ate half of it " and I explained I had taken 2-3 bites, the later ones simply to make sure I did indeed dislike it, and then my husband had a bite to confirm I wasn't tripping and that it was in fact terrible. 3-4 bites was NOT half the meal. It wasn't even a quarter. When I tried to push back on that, I was told "well, we know what our portion sizes look like, and half the meat was missing." The crazy part about this is that they seemed to truly believe I had gotten double the meat portion they had actually put in front of me. It was enraging. We paid and vowed to never return. I have told anyone who would listen about the time a restaurant refused to comp an entree that sucked because they accused me of l y i n g about how much of the meal I had consumed. The crazy part is that my husband and I would have returned to try this place again had the staff just believed me from the jump that I wasn't trying to pull a fast one. I normally am never happy about a restaurant closing, but Piastra? Good riddance.

My wife and I have dined here twice now; once on our wedding night and again on our Anniversary…read more Neither time did they disappoint us, but this most recent visit my tagliatelle nero di mare pasta could have benefitted from a little adjustment. The overwhelming flavor came from the dried Calabrian chiles, which had not been reconstituted properly into the sauce, so it also left me wondering whether the gritty bites came from that or if the clams & mussels had been cleaned properly. Regardless, the sauce lacked depth. The fresh pasta clung together in clumps, an indication that the chef had not mixed it diligently during the cooking process, but from a visual perspective, it looked to be on point. I must confess, the lamb carpaccio is one of the most distinct, unique dishes that I have tasted in quite a while; as a caveat to that, it is a bold flavor profile, so if you prefer a neutral, familiar red meat such as beef, proceed with caution and an open mind. My wife had the lobster and cavatelli, which was by far the most fully developed dish of all, creamy savory richness coating slightly dense bites of pasta, reminiscent of gnocchi, and the lobster was definitely present, which is the exception rather than the rule with most creamy dishes advertised to contain lobster. Our server was attentive, professional, polite, personable & well spoken. I can't say that I have any critiques in that area. Though she did not introduce herself, I presume she was the owner, came by to ensure that our meal was more than satisfactory. Even the lady tending to our drinks revisited the table with diligence. The inside has a very open floor plan, although it could probably have a layout redesign so that some tables don't make some patrons feel as though they are in the way. The decor is a blend of industrial chic with modern, local art lining the walls, most pieces being slightly above average amateur status. They have a private dining area dedicated to larger parties if you plan ahead and give them notice. There seemed to only be one lavatory for the whole restaurant, but it's possible that I didn't look long enough. All in all, a nice place for Italian food if you want to break free from the typical American-Italian offerings. Our meal was $130 for two entrees, two glasses of wine, an appetizer and a desert, with tip included. I'd say that's about on par with just about every other restaurant that doesn't have a drive thru. Buon appetito & mangia!

It has the feel of a small home style restaurant, which is further helped be the army of wait staff. There were tons of waiters and waitresses constantly checking in on everyone which ensured a stellar visit for each customer. The food was pretty solid, although if I returned I'd want to try something different. After the delicious, complimentary garlic bread we opted for the gorgonzola salad and the soup of the day, a chicken and vegetable soup. We both enjoyed our starters. For our mains, we went with the specials, a chicken, sausage, mushroom, and bell pepper pasta, and a lamb shank over risotto. The pasta had a ton of flavor and was very tasty, while the lamb shank was a little dry and the risotto wasn't exactly what I expected and left something to be desired. We split a creme brûlée dessert and really enjoyed that as well. The highlight of our visit was our server Michael. He was super attentive, very helpful in guiding us through the menu and the specials, and even brought us a delicious chocolate mousse upon hearing that it was our first time visiting. He definitely brought the entire meal up a notch. Overall, we're very pleased that we decided to stop in and would love to visit again to try some different menu items.
