My first attempt to cancel was by email on March 4th, and I emailed again on March 16th when I didn't receive a response.I then went in person on a Sunday, as my contract allows cancellation in person. The manager, Lorenzo, was not there, and the front desk staff told me I could email him directly to cancel. I followed their instructions and sent the email. This morning, Lorenzo replied telling me that I cannot cancel by email and that I must come in person Monday-Friday 8AM-8PM -- even though I already went in person, and none of these requirements appear anywhere in my contract. My contract clearly states that cancellation can be done in person or by mail, with no mention of manager availability, weekday-only hours, or any other restrictions. Under the Texas Health Spa Act, gyms are not allowed to add extra cancellation conditions that aren't in the written agreement. The shifting explanations I received -- including in my recorded call with Lorenzo -- would not hold up under Texas consumer protection rules. I've filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General because this has now dragged on for nearly a month despite me following every instruction they gave me.It's a great gym overall, but if you ever move out of the city or need to cancel, be prepared for a stressful and unnecessary process. The facility is good, but the cancellation issues are simply not worth the headache. Stay away at all costs, Houston is literally saturated with so many gyms that this one is absolutely not worth the trouble.

This is by far the worse front desk service of all LA Fitness in all Houston area locations, this…read morepertains primarily to the morning service as this is the time I visit. The service for the past 9 months has been non-existent. For the existing LA members let you facility know about the service so that the establishment can fix the situation. The service here has NO "acknowledgement", NO "have a good workout", NO eye contact, NO "Good Morning" NO INTERACTION whatsoever. Putting your scanner on the counter, continue to watch social media and not acknowledging the member is unacceptable. Front desk is the face of the company, first interaction with their members. I have brought this up to the facility twice and no clear outcome that is will fix the situation not with me personally but for this location. This issue was brought up six months ago and was addressed, it was a tad bit better for one week and back to the normal rude behavior. This comes down to the management team, listen to the members, bring up the issue, have warning and consequences and address the problem as needed. Domyour due diligence, check cameras, ask your morning members, or even ask corporate to do a survey. Once in a while the behavior is tolerable, as people we all have our own personal issues but nine months of the repetitive behavior is just not right. Think - what position is csr front desk? Happy smiling, contact service, fake it even if you have to smile service. I'm sure LA Fitness didn't hire someone to play on the phone during the shift to bring this attitude. Well, to be honest, local mgmt did address the issues, they pointed out to the intended front desk that I was the person to address this issue. That person now knows who is complaining and my service from the front Desk is solved but they does not do justice for the other members of the facility, I have nothing personal with this person and nothing against that person. If I was managing the facility I would have done better than treat this as an isolated incident. As very recent changes has seen that I am not the source of the problem but I am trying to do a service to the company. Anyways I have send in my cancellation mail, I will not be coming to this particular gym. On a bright side, As overall LA Fitness is pretty good, it was just this particular gym that bothers me a little, I am contemplating about canceling still because as a whole most All LA fitness facilities are satisfactory. Best regards to all

In my 2.5 months at Anytime Fitness, I have lost 20 lbs while building 1.5 pounds of muscle while training with Sayvon. All of these bad reviews are about the old trainers and management, and I can assure you this is the right place for you if you want to see real results while meeting great people and working with a kick-ass trainer. I used to be embarrassed to go to the gym because most trainers or members made me feel self-conscious, sometimes not even purposefully. At AF, I've felt welcomed and have learned to have confidence in myself going to the gym again. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

The manager and personal trainers are very knowledgeable and into USPA powerlifting. A lot of times you can ask them questions and they give great answers on maybe how to adjust something you are having trouble with or give ideas on new things if you ask. I have used different facilities LA Fitness, 24 hour, Lifetime, and Equinox, and the environment here is just very good if you are trying to improve on your fitness goals. It isn't a huge facility, but in March/April they are going from like 3200 sq feet to 9000 sq feet, and getting a larger variety and quantity of equipment (more power racks and machines). They have more of what you need and less of the things you don't need. Sometimes at the other huge big name facilities they have a lot of equipment you don't need or use along with a crowd of people that aren't there to really work out. I actually signed up for personal training along the way, and have seen all my numbers go up pretty fast. I guess it could be beginner gains, but I have been using different gyms and doing programs off bodybuilding.com programs for years. I never really got my numbers up until working with the personal trainers here, and the knowledge they have is very good and different then what I found reading bodybuilding.com or other things on the internet. I think if you live in the general area of this facility you really shouldn't over look it. I also came in with some lower back pain and after going to a hospitals physical therapy center and working with them for 6 months 3 times a week I ended up with no significant improvement. Since working out with a trainer here I have removed the pain, and increased my strength significantly. I can't thank these guys enough.

When I began to inquire more about the 'program', the trainer began to grow visibly agitated and proceeded to tell me how he had pulled strings to call the owner and get me that deal. I asked for a physical copy of the contract to read while he was explaining, and he turned the laptop to me and said 'Here!' and started to scroll on his phone. He then said, "It's cool, most people treat me like a car salesman anyway'. I politely gathered my belongings and left. Since when is it a crime to ask questions before I sign my name on a contract? This location is in serious need of deep cleaning. The cup holders on the cardio machines are nasty. The Womens workout area could either use better monitoring or more weights because there simply aren't enough dumbbells. Seriously, if you can make the drive, then just go to the Clear Lake location.
