Unfortunately, this was hands-down the worst post COVID-19 service experience. We do get it, truly, there has been a change in service delivery and a modification to the level of service we now accept as normal. This falls far outside of these parameters. An all too familiar situation of an understaffed restaurant, where Alexis snipped at us "...I am the only server working." And, the hostess told us we should place our to go order someplace else, and invited this yelp review, and stated "you can see that we're busy." A solid 4 across the board! The portion sizes are very generous and our server was so nice and helpful. I got the fajitas and they were super good! I could have used maybe one more tortilla, but it was so yummy! It was crowded when we went so plan ahead for a ~20 min wait or so. read more

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS!!------ Immediately after entering I was hit with a cozy, at-home atmosphere. I couldn't put it into words the comfort and enjoyment this restaurant offers. The workers remind me of distant family that have only ever met you at your baby shower or shortly after you were born. Then, they continue to say "I remember changing your diapers" or they quote a miss pronounced word you said that stuck with you. And the funniest and most awkward part of it is...you don't remember any of it. That's the way Via Delosantos had me and I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a chill and nostalgic experience. LASTLY...anddd...MORE IMPORTANTLY. --THE FOOD-- I regretfully admit that I wish I'd never eaten here...Because the first enzyme that sent chemical reactions to my brain had me reminiscing on the dishes my Nana cooked for me. I know I'll never get those first experiences back again but Via Delosantos, and more importantly, the cooks made that happen. If I could market a quote for this restaurants advertising I'd recommend: "Food for the younger you." Eating here was a great experience, even on a busy Friday afternoon. We were seated immediately, and our server (male with glasses, approx mid-30s) did a wonderful job. He was very attentive to what we wanted, friendly, and even if he was serving what looked to be over 8 tables he gave careful attention to each. He was funny, relaxed and seemed to enjoy being there if he had his hands full. (+2 stars) The food is sooo good. I wish I would have gotten a snapshot of their Sonoran fry bread. It's listed as an appetizer but was a fabulous and filling entree. Whatever they used for the bread was sooo good. (+2) I really dug the ambiance here. Definitely has an old Mexico vibe, very homey and comfortable. (+1) Oh and our total for 1 entree, 1 appetizer, 2 tacos and a shot of tequila and beer was only came out to $45!!! Cheap! The ONLY thing I can say where they could step up their game was their bathrooms. The stalls look like old industrial shed doors and didn't really fit the mood of the place. Plus I saw a mother holding the door shut for her kid because the locks didn't work. Not enough of an issue to ding this place a star though. Will be back. read more

I have been to Via Delosantos probably over 10 times. They were my go to Mexican food restaurant for awhile, but the last few visits have not been so hot. In the past, I've loved their fundido sauce, the chips and salsa, their albóndigas soup, their green chili, super crunchy cheese crisps, and their chimichangas. All have been tasty and at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, recently the food hasn't been as fresh. As much as I liked this restaurant, we haven't been back in a bit. Hopefully they'll clean up their act and get back to being as good as they had been for years. read more

Their carne picado is absolutely delicious--tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection every time. And let's talk about the margaritas--they're not only super tasty, but also a great deal! When you aren't sure where to eat you find a place that looks packed and stop. (Of course we Yelped too before coming to a complete stop!) We came to town on a whim and needed a great lunch, and Via Delosantos was it! It was Father's Day so the place was full but we still got a seat without a wait. They quickly brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. The chips are light and crispy perfectly salted and the salsa was a nice blend traditional ingredients. Not too spicy! Our meals came in due time, indicating everything made to order. And we couldn't stop eating, finishing our plates. From the beans, to the rice, to the mains, exchange bite better than the next. We are in the area often, and this is our go-to spot for Mexican food. The restaurant itself is comfortable and welcoming, and we always have good service. It's a plus when the weather is nice enough to sit outside. The food is really consistent and we always enjoy our meal. Last night we went outside of our comfort zone (traditional Tex-Mex) and tried a few different dishes. The Carne Picante Pasta (pork) was excellent. A really different take on their Carne Picante to include sautéed egg noodles, with a side of sautéed carrots and refried beans with cheese. Will definitely get this dish again. We also had Spanish Steak, which was well-seasoned and tender. The rice and beans are always on point, and we add a cheese crisp or two for good measure. Over the years we have eaten here, in the bar if possible, a least a few times a month. After tonight, we will not likely return. Dinner in the bar, the bartender is a grumpy guy, the margaritas were lousy @ $7 each and after 30 minutes of waiting our food never arrived and the bartender never checked on us. (Taco, enchilada, rice and beans) ordered the bean and cheese dip appetizer to start. Don't bother with this one. It's just refried beans in a dish. Good beans but not really a dip. We added salsa and it was much better. Food arrives. Everything looked good but instead of the kid's enchilada they brought 2 mini tacos. We didn't want to wait so my son said he'd eat them. I'd have thought we'd get a small discount for the mistake but nah. He ate them so no foul. Husband's combo was average run of the mill mexican. Nothing wrong. Nothing special. My chimi was soggy but the tortilla mised with the guac and sour cream was good. Shredded beef tasted like something I'd cook in the crock on a long day. Overall was a decent meal and a good value if you're looking for large portions. Just average though. Building is in dire need of a remodel. Missing tiles and chips in tables. Wow. I finally found "the one" restaurant in AZ that has authentic Mexican food worth raving about. I was surprised to see how busy it was when I arrived, but this is a good sign always. My girlfriend and I each had a margarita and were very happy with how strong they were lol. I had the Chile relleno and practically died and went to heaven with each bite. Oddly when walking in the bar area felt cool in air temperature but when we sat in the dining area air temperature was definitely more warm wish we would have sat in bar area. We came in for lunch, and have mixed reviews on dishes! Food; I got the shredded beef Chalupa and it was delicious- the masa was cooked to perfection and meat was yummy. My daughter got the Pollo Fundido she couldn't eat it - now beware it does not come with white chicken so feel if it was the meat cut she liked it looks like it may have been delicious. This is indeed once of the classic Phoenix Mexican restaurants. I've been here dozens of times, and love bringing out-of-towners. The menu is vast! We like the veggie section of the menu. They do not use lard, so I usually get a vegan bean burrito (no cheese). The tortilla is excellent! My husband likes the spinach enchilada. The chips are fresh and warm, and the salsas are above average. The interior of the restaurant is perfect on a scorcher of a Phoenix afternoon. It's almost cave-like, especially if you are in a booth. The service has always been prompt and friendly. While I appreciate the veggie section of the menu, maybe next time they print it they could mark what items are vegan, or could be made vegan? Other than that, this place is great! read more

Finally decided to take my sons to dinner at this classic Mexican restaurant it was truly an early birthday dinner for my youngest son. Food was classic Mexican style and delicious.
