First timer at Via-Mar (with a friend), I was welcomed and seated very quickly. I believe the waitress name that helped us was Evelyn. She was polite, attentive, and sweet. Always making sure we had our drinks refilled. Excellent service, the food was out quick and delicious. I had ordered a burrito, carne asada, it was well done and the salsa that came along with it, was spot on. The overall atmosphere is nice as you really feel like you're in Mexico. The food is great and so are the drinks. The prices are a bit pricy and the service is a hit or miss. I was really disappointed. Got there on a Friday night and there was a table of obnoxious people. Over the top yelling and screaming at each other. We mentioned it to the waitress who told someone in charge who basically went over and did nothing. I kept thinking they were going to duke it out. Anyway, that kind of distraction ruins a meal. Ugh, this place is literally hit or miss! So much potential, it makes me sad. Sometimes the shrimp fajitas are on point, other times they're not even seasoned. Sometimes the rice is good, sometimes it's bland. Beans are usually good. Now I'm suspicious if they're canned, considering they're consistently tasty. Coctel de camaron is usually a safe bet, has never disappointed. Fish Tacos (again, hit or miss) but on a good day they're FIRE! Sooo delicious! Micheladas here are always on point tho! Drink one & you won't care if you're food is mediocre that day. As for service, I mean, well, they try? (I hope). No one has ever been rude at least. As im sitting in the restaurant im writing this review... The customer service is horrible. My hubby and i were seated promptly but it took 25 mins for someone to come and take our drink order. Then it took another 20 mins for the same guy to come back and take our order. I ordered a campechana and my husband ordered fajitas. Cesar (server)brought our food pretty fast, but no utensils, ketchup, or hot sauce were given to us until after 5 mins from getting our food. My husband asked the server 2 times for salt and i asked once we finished eating and never received the salt. The server never came to our table to see how we were doing. When it came to getting our bill he was a friendly and thanking us. Unfortunately i did not have a good experience. Food is decent. Prices are good. Great food, great service and prices are very reasonable. To start off we had the ceviche basa and it was amazing! Very juicy. I had the shrimp and fish fajita and my fiancé the mix one. Portions are huge. Also, the micheladas are to die for. Highly recommended. We'll be back. read more

Not that great at all!!! Food is too pricy for the quality. We ordered calamari and it was over cooked and dry, stale tortilla chips, bleached water and over salted. I have to say service was decent but I can't say the same for their cook. We asked in advance if they had Caldo de Res, they said yes. Lady comes back and they don't have it. Word of advise, know your menu for the day. 1 out of 5.... 1 Half of our order was taken from our table and the lady never came back to take our order. 30 min in and still waiting.... I felt there was no customer service this evening... It was all bad today. We got sat first at a table where there is 8 chairs and there is only 2 of us. So we were moved to another table that was much smaller. The waitress brought us chips and salsa took our order but never returned to refill my water or ask if I wanted to drink anything else. Our food was finished and we sat around waiting for about half an hour for anyone to approach us so we can ask for the check. Once the bill was given she returned fast, I'm guessing she realized her tip was at steak or she didn't want us to dine and dash. First time this has happened to me here. We started off with Micheladas and a Lemon Drop and the fiesta platter, it was all great! We ordered a dozen oysters half regular and half via mar style, bomb! I love their aguaschiles salsa! My friends and I often ponder which taco stand is the best, and while I still can't pick a favorite Via Mar sure comes close. Things to try: 1. Hard Shell Shrimp Tacos. These delicious freshly-fried tacos are served with salsa and slices avocado on the outside of the taco. This is #1 people. 2. Soft Fish Taco. Also of the fried variety, these things are HUGE. My girlfriend says these are the best fish taco she's ever had. Outside of mexico, I might agree. Other items are also fantastic, but if you go there it would be a shame if you didn't get some seafood.....and some spicy carrots...mmmmm. read more

Honestly the food was disappointing. They took waaaay to long to get our food to us and no one ever checked up during the meal. Our child's food took forever to get when they were just flautas de pollo . When we finally did get it . We were already paying the bill so they removed it from out tab. The bill was 80$ and when we left, the following day I checked the bank account and $120 was processed at the restaurant. I called to let them know and they just refunded my whole amount so we got our meal for free. But it wasn't even good. read more

They are tasty and strong. Two margaritas got me spittin' rhymes on the table. I definitely recommend this place during happy hour, which is EVERYDAY from 4-7! Margarita's $2 and beer on tap is 99¢. You can get a pretty nice buzz for cheap here. However, don't expect to be buzzed for long because from all the times I've come here, I've noticed that the service exponentially declines after about 5 pm. I don't know why because service is great the first hour. So, try to order maybe two drinks on the first order. I came here for the happy hour It is undeniable how great their happy hour is , however this place does get pretty packed . $2.25 margaritas and $1 beers . The food was okay , the drinks were good & customer service was proficient . It's understandable they may not visit your table very frequently because they're juggling all these other tables , but overall waiters were nice . The hostess may take a little while to get to you but only because it gets so busy . I would still come back for the happy hour though read more
