Super disappointing and disheartening experience at this establishment. My family experienced some of the worst hospitality we have ever seen in our lives from staff at Via Sposito... The group stopped in, casually on a Saturday night - the first thing that my dad asked the staff was whether it was okay to dine there given the way they were dressed - which was nothing fancy, but casual and acceptable. But I guess the staff was bothered by that.. not that they communicated so. The staff could have answered, "no, your attire is not appropriate/ doesn't follow our dress code." We would have left. Truly don't know what the issue was. Service was super rushed. It felt like they didn't want to serve us. The second the appetizer came out she asked us to order dinner. We asked for 5 minutes and she refused us... saying that she had to put the order in at that moment because "dishes may take 45 minutes to cook" and that we "may not get our food"... lol it was laughable... When we asked for water, the waitress said that they didn't have any glasses for the water. What do you mean you don't have any glasses for water? It felt like she was playing a joke or blatantly trying to upset us. Icing on the cake, the waitress served my dad an expired beer. She claimed it was their last can. When he confronted her about the date on the can, she was rude, and did not really seem to care about serving expired alcohol. The manager also brushed us off. So upsetting. I don't ever aim to bash businesses, especially local ones, but it is disappointing to find out that going to restaurants marketed as luxe and upscale doesn't mean you are going to be treated in such a way, at all. In fact, the opposite. Definitely won't be returning to this place... I wish them the best and truly hope they re-evaluate the way they treat paying customers. read more

The interior is very nice, the staff quick and efficient with our food promptly brought to us. The friendliness of the staff and guests add to the ambience. Everything on the menu is delicious. The choices are abundant. My husband loves their free range chicken Francese, so tender and flavorful. My son always gets the Pescatora with so much fresh seafood that even he gets a box to go, so he can enjoy it for lunch the next day. I love the Via Col Vento,, it is so wonderful ! They also made my husband's birthday extra special with a wonderful cheesecake with the sparkler candle. "holy moly - that desert was so good". I've been a long time customer of other ViaSposito restaurants for many years. While all locations have the same name, they are all very different. The Old Bridge restaurant- by far - is the best location. The Red Bank is great, just more of a pizza shop kind of feel. However, unfortunately despite all the anticipation for the new Colts Neck location I'm sorry to say it's a far third. I think the intent was to make a "higher end" feel being in Colts Neck, but in reality they lost their way from what made the original in Old Bridge great. I was specifically told to "dress appropriately" when I made the reservation, but was seated on arrival next to a group in gym shorts and tee shirts?! I wouldn't typically care, except that I was specifically instructed to not wear shorts with my reservation. The whole thing was a little odd, and honestly can't fault the other people because it's very confusing if you had previously only been to the Red Bank location. The inside had a feel like Loaded Spoon in Freehold, not the Molly Pitcher Inn. I think the "dress appropriately" is a little unnecessary. The menu is limited and missing some favorites at other locations. The food itself just wasn't as good as Old Bridge, yet the prices are meaningfully higher. Two adult entrees, two toddlers sharing a pasta, an appetizer, and two drinks was $260 with the tip. Typically $125 in Old Bridge - though no drink costs - and notably better food too. Kids shared the Penne Vodka, and none of us liked it - which it typically a solid goto for us. The breaded chicken in the Chicken Milanese was on the bland side, though cooked well and looked great on the plate. Other food was good, not great, and I felt overpriced. Service was excellent, and had staff outnumbering patrons. All that said they just opened, and will be checking out again in a few months to see how things come along. I'm sure they are working some kinks out. At the end of the day I think they would be better off either changing the names of the restaurants to be differentiated and unique, or make things more consistent at all three. It's the only same name restaurant group I know that are so inconsistent between locations. My recommendation would be to ditch the "higher end" bit and just stick with the model at Old Bridge. read more

We went for the first time to Via Sposito which is across from Delicious Orchards on Route 34 in Colts Neck. Nice atmosphere, reasonable pricing and the portions are large. Restaurant was clean. Service was excellent and the meal was delicious. Kid Friendly. We split an appetizer of baked calamari that was very good. I had the Sunday Special (Braciole that had meatballs, short rib, sausage, and homemade pasta braised in a tomato sauce) while my husband had the pork chops and one of my sons had the Chicken Parmagiana. For dessert, we shared Tartufo. Would definitely come back and definitely recommend to others. read more

Nice looking restaurant with a bar. We were seated at our reservation time and greeted by our server quickly. The food was just ok, a party of 6 and we all felt the same way. I ordered a bottle of wine from the menu when it came it was a different bottle so they suggested something else I tasted it and did not like it, we picked another one and that was fine. When the bill came I was charged for both bottles, so I questioned it and was told I ordered it now I have to pay for it. HUH! That was not it, there was a surcharge on the bill for credit card payments but we paid cash. Overall was not a good experience. I feel as if they were trying to grab money from us at the end, hoping we wouldn't notice it but charging me for the bottle was absolutely ridiculous when they're advertising one bottle and it comes out a different one. My family went for New Years Eve and we had a wonderful dining experience! The food was prepared perfectly, and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. This location is definitely NOT as good as the original location in old bridge. They're trying to be bougie because of their location in Colts Neck. The prices here are definitely higher and the food is not as good. We had the stuffed artichoke special and there was hardly any stuffing, kind of bland and $20, GTFO! Had a Engagement Party there. 37 people. The room was a little tight but comfortable. Was given a start time of 3pm a end time of 6:30. At 6:00 was told we had to leave. It was during coffee time. I was so embarrassed. We booked the party months in advance. We actually started dinner at 3:30 by the time all the guests arrived. The service started to rush. Food was good. Been here 6 times in last 2 months. Have yet to have a mediocre meal. Pizza is one of the best in the area. Go with traditional along with your favorite toppings. Glad to see Via Spasito is expanding. Seems like a nice family run place. Meatballs were standard. Not my favorite. The pork chop with onions and cherry peppers had good flavor and was tender. This was our first time to the Colts Neck location. The food, service and atmosphere was great. We took my friend for an early birthday dinner and had Annette as our server. She was fantastic! Very attentive and helpful, as well as the others with cleaning of the table, refilling water, supplying utensils etc... We never had to ask for anything. We had the meatballs and burata special for the appetizers. For dinner we all had different entrees from the huge portion of the veal parm, eggplant parm and the double cut pork chop. Then for dessert the italian cheesecake and zeppoles. Food was delicious. We live down the shore and decided to come here to celebrate. Will definitely be back. So worth the trip. read more

I was recommended this restaurant by a friend so I wanted to give it a try . The service was good but I was never approached by a manager to check on the table . I wish they had ! My wife and I started with 2 appetizers, stuffed artichoke and fried calamari. Staples of an Italian restaurant, unfortunately they were inedible! The calamari was like rubber and the artichoke hard and tasteless. The chicken parm was OK but my rib eye which came with a side of 6 pieces of potato was swimming in grease. I didn't tempt dessert. My first time here, I ordered the eggplant parmigiana, big mistake, it was a mushy hot mess. Absolutely no structure to the eggplant, tasted previously frozen with an oily undertone, no distinguishable eggplant flavor, smothered in a diner quality cheesy béchamel sauce. I ordered a side of sautéed spinach which also had a previously frozen quality and taste, absolutely nothing fresh tasting about either dish. I started with the arugula salad, which was good, the only criticism I have for that dish are the chunks of provolone cheese served on top. Provolone is just too strong and overpowering for a delicate arugula and endive salad, a milder cheese is needed. All in all, not a great dining experience, I prefer high quality fresh Italian ingredients, which based on my meal was not delivered at Via Sposito. read more

I can't find the right words to explain how great of an experience we had here. My party had 10 people in it and sometimes they can be a little much and needy. Erin, our server handled everything so swiftly and smoothly and we have zero complaints. She was so sweet to all of us and did everything perfectly. Vinny, the owner came out to chat with us and really made us feel like we were at a family dinner. Such a nice, generous man. Our first time at this newly opened restaurant. Some previous reviews have been mildly critical however, for us, this was a great evening. The service, although they are obviously still learning, was impressive. We felt very well taken care of. Our menu selections turned out perfect as all four of us were raving over our food. For my wife and i, we split a beat salad and each had a pasta. we started with the traditional pizza which four of us shared. As good as I have had in the area. Even the glass and stemware drew positive comments. Drinks were good and atmosphere lively. A bit on the noisy side but not enough to bother. Not inexpensive but we felt the value was there.
