We were going to have the paint job done as part of the addition/renovation, but after almost a year and a half with no progress, we decided to get the exterior painted so it's in better condition and MUCH prettier to look at in the meantime. Our contractor for the addition had quoted $20K for the paint job, which seemed exorbitant. I called the painting company who had painted our previous house 4 years ago, and he beat that by $4K, which was a vast improvement but still a bit of a financial pinch. I contacted Aqua, and Mohamad came out pretty quickly. He did a thorough walk-around to see what we needed done and where the problem areas were - and there were A LOT of problem areas. The previous owners had neglected this place for quite a while, and there was even one exterior wall that they hadn't bothered to paint at all on their most recent DIY job of it. It had a chalky peach color paint that came off on the finger when we rubbed at it. Mohamad described all the work they'd do to prep the surfaces properly and the paints they would use for a durable paint job. Then he gave us a written estimate with all of the prep, painting, and cleaning steps delineated clearly. I was hoping we'd be able to save a little more, or at least get a comparison to know we weren't overpaying our previous company. Mohamad beat their price by over $3500K for the basic paint. It was $800 more for the premium paint. We jumped right on that and got scheduled for the paint job. They ended up having room in their schedule to start a week sooner. His crew came out and got right to work prepping. They worked quickly but with precision, getting eaves sanded and primed, getting rid of the old peeling stucco, and patching where needed. We'd also asked them to remove the old metal awning over the bay window in front. When they did, they discovered some of the trim had deteriorated, and they replaced it at no additional cost. The quality of their work was excellent, and we were thrilled with the results. My husband also said that afterward it was by the cleanest we've ever had workers leave our property. If you're considering Aqua, I can't recommend them highly enough.

Arteen is an owner-operator who takes pride in his work, and the quality shows. We've had many paint jobs done in different homes over the years, and his attention to detail really stood out. He was careful to keep everything clean before and after painting. For example, he removed every light switch, outlet, and fixture, cleaned them, and carefully put everything back. We were impressed enough with his attention to detail that we also asked him to take care of some additional home improvement work that wasn't related to painting. He was flexible about working around other vendors who were in the home at the same time, and he communicated clearly throughout the project. We always knew when he would be there, what he planned to accomplish, and what had been completed. He is also a genuinely nice person and a pleasure to have around. I will share that I evaluate contractors not only how good the job turns out, but other things like…read morebeing on time, being communicative, and not being distracted constantly with phone calls and such. My job was doing wall and ceiling patches after a plumbing issue / fix. Some of the holes had acceptable undamaged drywall pieces, but also had holes with none of the original drywall. The wall also had texture, which they aspired to match. I still had my paint so they didn't have to get chips to recreate color. Ricardo showed up early to do his estimate, which I do recommend vs the online process. He indicated his team availability and provided a quote. After going through others who were either a lot more expensive (some had minimum job cost requirements) and some others had other things about timing, price, etc, I proceeded to hire Ricardo Painting. Hugo came early the next day and stayed on schedule with disciplined execution. Didn't try to rush - eg rushing mud to dry, or applying paint coats too early. He really wanted to match the wall texture and did a great job. I will know where the repair was, but only ones trying to find it will actually notice. They said less than 2 days, and it was done. Ricardo will remain in my Rolodex for the future.

Please learn from my mistake and don't hire a random painter to do limewash in your home- HIRE RICARDO! I ended up wasting so much money and time with an amateur- Ricardo knows what he's doing and will be honest about limitations (if any at all).
