Richard and Arthur came out to meet and greet us. We explained to them we wanted 2 double pane windows as our old ones would not open at all. And we needed paint as the old paint was in bad shape. This company feels more like a sales gimmick than a real construction service. Here is my honest experience. I hired them to install a door and frame at the rectory of the church where I've worked for over 19 years. I manage the entire campus and have overseen everything from building a new church to HVAC, plumbing, remodeling, and ongoing construction projects. I also carry a CSLB license, so I'm very familiar with how jobs should be handled. I was hoping to find a smaller company that could help with occasional work. Richard Kim showed up to our first appointment in a small hatchback with no tools, no ladder, and no company logo on the vehicle. He was wearing a company hat and shirt with brand new work boots that looked like they had never seen a job site. Those were early red flags, but I needed the door installed because the new priest had been asking for weeks, so I moved forward with the job. I was told the door would take about two weeks to make. When installation day came, Rich showed up with his brother-in-law, and shortly after two beat-up work trucks arrived with three other guys who weren't wearing anything related to the company. They started running in and out of the rectory bringing materials inside, and I began wondering who these people were and if they actually knew what they were doing. I stepped away to my office and later noticed Rich's car was gone. Only the trucks belonging to the workers remained. It turns out he brings in outside guys who run their own small operations to do the work. Not long after, everything went sideways. I went back to check on the job and all the trucks were gone--along with the door, the tools, and the materials. Apparently there was some kind of dispute between Rich and the workers, possibly about money or the arrangement. They packed everything up and left the job site. Rich wasn't even there to explain what happened. When I called him, he didn't answer and later texted asking if he could call me back in an hour. When he finally did, he said he had other workers and asked if he could start again the following week. Overall, this was extremely unprofessional and not the level of service anyone should expect from a construction company. This review only covers part of the experience, but it should give you a good idea of how the job was handled. I strongly recommend doing your research before hiring this company. read more

I recently hired South Bay Home Remodeling to replace my roof and I was so happy the entire process. I interviewed 10 companies before hiring SBHR. Honestly, I was a little hesitant to hire them because they're a newer company but after having multiple conversations with Arthur, he really stood out from the other contractors. He was extremely thorough, professional and made me feel like I was getting white glove treatment rather than just being "another roofing job" on their list. He took time to fully explain the process from removing the old shingles, inspecting the existing wood for rot/damage, waterproofing, new flashing, ventilation and even went through some skylight options. It felt like Arthur was a friend who was genuinely interested in selecting the best options to meet my needs but also recommend things that he would use at his house. In addition to doing an amazing job on replacing our roof, they installed 2 Skylights (one in the master bedroom right above our bed and one in the living room). I was unsure about a skylight above our bed, but Arthur showed me the Velux blinds that can be controlled by your phone or a remote and can be programmed to open with sunrise or set later on weekends if I want to sleep in. Now after having these installed and enjoying them for a few weeks, I highly recommend the Velux Skylights. All of the extra detail that Arthur put into the presales process ultimately was the reason why we chose SBHR. Their price wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive but they were very competitive with the bids that I received. They offered a 50 year warranty through Owens Corning for material and labor which gave me extra peace of mind. The crew was on time, respectful of my property and finished the job in 4 days (including roof and skylights + inspection). The workmanship is excellent, and the skylights completely transformed our home. If you're looking for a contractor you can trust, I highly recommend SBHR. South Bay Home Remodeling did excellent work painting the exterior of my stucco house with a product called "Cool Life" cement coating. They repaired the blistered paint on the exterior wood trim and the stucco that had peeled away from the underlying cement. The "cool Life" product comes with a 30 year warranty, which is good news.
