Everything was SO good and full of flavor! The seafood tasted incredibly fresh, and I loved the mix of citrus, spice, and savory flavors--bold without overpowering the seafood. The shrimp and octopus were tender, the aguachile had the perfect tangy/spicy kick, and everything paired so well with the fresh cucumber, avocado and onion. Even the tacos were packed with flavor. It genuinely reminded me of eating mariscos in Mexico. Our waiter was wonderful--helpful and attentive the entire time, but never made us feel rushed. There comes many moments in life that blows you away, and our first try here was one of them. When you first sit down, you are asked if you want the complimentary shrimp broth in a cup. Just say YES! It is savory and is compliments eating with the ceviche tostada SO well. We each ordered the shrimp/octopus, tuna, and Mexican scallops tostada. Holy moly! It was PACKED and so amazingly fresh. The pulpo (octopus) was soft, the tuna was delicious, and the scallops were enormous. I could've easily gotten full of one but I am so glad I got two because the experience was everythingggg. We also ordered the fish tacos but sent it back because we did not enjoy them. I'm sure on its own, it would've been fine. But we couldn't go from fresh to fried. Just a fair warning. Price point was fair. Each tostada was around $11, and our scallops was market price at $19. I truly believe it was worth it because of how much you get in one serving. La Pesca took over the old spot and sheeesh... they did NOT come to play. Seafood was crazy fresh and flavorful. We put our name down but the wait was kinda long, so we told the host we were gonna grab cocktails down the street. They actually held our table for us while we finished our drinks!! Came back and got treated so well. They even brought out a complimentary raw shrimp dish (forgot the name but wowwww). We tried several items , Shrimp taco I originally ordered fish and received shrimp by accident. While shrimp tacos aren't usually my favorite (I prefer fish), it was still tasty, so no complaints. Habanero fish tostada very good flavor, though I personally expected more heat (but I can handle spice). I came here having the highest hopes. I have waited over a year for this place to open. Literally looking into the windows. Invited my fellow yelper to come with so we could experience our first time together. Well the first thing we started off with was their consume. We were told it was made from 7 mares soup. I accepted and liked it, but I added about 4 lemons to it since im not to crazy for that fishy taste. Next we got our la costra nostra taco seemed like the most popular choice. I actually really enjoyed this shrimp "quesadilla."Thats exactly what it is since it came with melted cheese and shrimp on a flour tortilla. I wouldnt call it a taco, but that's just me. The shrimp cocktail was extremely loaded with thick pepper. It was a little to much ive had many cocktails and I actually missed more of the ketchup flavor. The ceviche was good lots of lemon and fish tasted fresh. The tostada sambal (poke) was not as good as it looked. The creamy mix is spicy I couldnt taste any flavor. The hard shell tostada was also not that great. Its to thick to serve with ahi should be light and crispy like a wonton. The last thing we tried was their pescado zarandeado. This was the main thing I wanted to try tonight. We were warned this dish took 25 minutes. We thought no problem we have time, we'll we watched everyone else get served, but us. We didnt get our fish till close to 45 minutes maybe even longer. I finally had to let our waitress know. As for the fish itself something about the taste was bitter to me. Not sure what it had on it, but it for sure had the potential to be amazing. There was just something it was seasoned with that threw it all off. The service was not as good as I expected. We weren't really checked on. I know its new and im sure they are just getting started. So ill wait awhile and come back. I always give places another shot. read more

This place is INCREDIBLE!! My boyfriend & I went here on a Sunday afternoon around 2:45PM and had the BEST time. They told us the wait would be 15 minutes, it only took about 5 (we tried to grab a beer at a bar down the street, but our table was ready before we could even order). There was, however, a line forming by the time we sat down. Our favorites were probably the Tostada De Callo (raw scallops) and the Tostada En Las Rocas (tuna pate, rock shrimp, and shrimp ceviche). Our server Christa was AWESOME, as was the other sweet gal (loved her as well -- always helped with a smile!) who assisted from time to time when Christa was busy with other tables (the place was packed!). Christa was SO great -- I asked questions about the menu & about what to drink, & she made the making of decisions SO much easier for us -- and, we absolutely LOVED everything that she suggested! For our second glass of white wine, she suggested this chardonnay-sauvignon blanc white wine from the Valle that was INCREDIBLE -- we were so impressed that a joint like this would have such great wines! My boyfriend also loved his Clamato Modelo Michelada. This place has REALLY got it down -- the freshness of the seafood, the taste, the sauces/seasonings, the PERFECT crunch of the tostadas, the SERVICE, the vibes, the cost of the food, everything -- even down to the cute aprons that all the staff wear! This place is damn good and reminds me of what Karinas and others used to be. If you love Mexican Mariscos I highly recommend this place. There is a bit of a wait because this place lives up to the hype. Make sure to get the shrimp zarandeados and a diablita michilada it will definitely start you off right! The place is small but you can get to your table fairly quickly. I wouldnt recommend coming in a big group but I know they do try and accommodate you if you do. I do have to say that they start you off with some seafood consume when you sit and mine came cold and really salty twice. I would have loved it hot and less salty. I do also have to give 5 stars to the 3 salsas you get in squeeze bottles - the black one is a umami bomb that you can drink! read more

Tried this place for the first time today and I'm definitely impressed, I arrived with my party of 5 and was seated immediately even though the restaurant was pretty full. We were seated by the entrance that has a huge open window which was nice since it was so hot, despite it being a smaller restaurant it didn't feel stuffy. Our server (Ava) arrived almost immediately offering us waters which was nice, he was super attentive and really funny, the service alone is enough for us to come back. We tried different kinds of tacos and tostadas along with the fried red snapper and a half dozen oysters and the food was delicious and fresh. I was looking forward to trying this new mariscos/ sea food restaurant. Had been so excited to try their food with my friend but we were both disappointed. We were greeted by a very nice waitress and offered some consomé to start, but since I'm allergic to some sea food I didn't want to take a chance since they were not sure what kind of fish the soup was made out of so I opted out. My friend said her consomé was good but tasted very fishy and she had to "doctor it up". After we got la costra nostra taco, it's a shrimp quesadilla on a flour tortilla. My friend got the tostada sambal while I ordered their ceviche de pescado tostada. She stated her tuna tostada needed flavor, it was bland but very spicy she couldn't even eat it. My ceviche de pescado tostada was okay but not the best I've had. Every dish tasted spicy. I ordered their shrimp cocktail and I was super excited to try it, cocktails are one of my favorite things and I wanted to order a back up dish in case I didn't care for the rest, when ordering it I asked the waitress if it was spicy and she said it was as it had Serrano peppers but she said they could remove them so I agreed and proceeded to order it. Let me tell you it was one of the worst shrimp cocktails I've tasted. The top of the cocktail was black, I wasn't sure what it was but thought it could be tajin, to my surprise it was all pepper. I was sulfides to see so much pepper. I like my cocktails with like and ketchup and it didn't taste like either at all, there was no flavor at all but just pepper. I tried doctoring it up but there was no room to add anything since it was served to the rim. I asked for ketchup and lime to add. I ended up just giving up on it and did not eat it, I took it home to try and fix it but I gave up. At this point I was eagerly waiting our main dish and the one we both originally had antes to try this new place. Their pescado zarandeado. When we ordered it the waitress said it would take about 20-30 minutes to bring out and we agreed since we ordered other dishes to hold us over. Literally almost an hour later and after seeing everyone around us getting their food in lifting guests who arrived after us and ordered the same dish we questioned the waitress and she said almost done. The pescado zarandeado was just okay, nothing too special. It was bitter and it lacked flavor. It seemed like we were "doctoring up" every dish we ordered and at this point we're not satisfied with food or service. They kind of forgot about our little table and we waited a long time to check out too. The cashier saw and came to our table to grab our card to pay and check us out. Overall I didn't have a good experience. The restaurant itself is not too big and were we sat the sun was right in our faces but we couldn't do anything about it and we couldn't move tables because it was very packed. It is located in down town Chula Vista on 3rd Ave. It is a very busy street with all the new locations there. But you can always find a meter parking on the Main Street. I always recommend you try it for yourself in hopes you have a better experience. Maybe I'll try it again after the dust has settled. read more

I've been here at least five times. Overall, the food is good, but I personally feel they go too heavy on the sauce, which makes many of the dishes taste overly salty. The scallop tostada is probably the standout item for me. Most of the other tostadas could use a better balance of flavors. I often end up putting the tostada toppings onto an extra plain tostada just to tone down the saltiness and sauce. Also, the Baja fish taco has been consistently mushy rather than crispy every time I've ordered it (about five different visits). The lack of texture makes it much less enjoyable compared to what you'd expect from a Baja-style fish taco. read more

We had Whole Grilled Fish The whole fish came with corn tortillas, salsa, creamy sauce, and pressed tacos with beans inside. The fish was so full of flavors, great seasoning without being salty. The fish was tender and grilled just right. It might seem big because it was grilled butterfly style, but once you got into the fillet of the fish, it's just enough for two people. This is my second time going to this spot because I just loved my experience the first time I went. I thought the food was very good, especially the tuna tostada and the pescado zarandeado! The zarandeado (grilled fish) was just amazing! The marinade was so savory and the fish itself was buttery. The salsas are to die for! They went great with everything I had.
