Love in a cup. Cafe de ollla

Always a great experience, the food is amazing very flavorful. The staff is attentive and helpful if you are unsure of what you want. The salsa is always fresh. The vibe is always like home. Definitely want to come by on a Saturday take part in Karaoke at 7pm. Best to have reservations as we were in luck and beat the Sunday rush.

The chicken fajita plate is really good, it was very tasty, and filling. No complaints on the service, food or the atmosphere.

If you want a spicy cocktail or one that has at least some lemon flavor to it. This is not the one. Very bland taste. I asked the girl who gave it to me if it came with chile or salsas and she said it had everything packed already. I opened it and it's just ketchup and mayonnaise lol. Don't recommend this place to go, maybe dining in is a better experience.

    Bomb steak platter.

Rating is solely due to SERVICE that we received. This was my first time coming here. We came here for a birthday celebration & I believe it was karaoke night. Amazing live singers, but it was SO obnoxiously loud I couldn't even hear my husband who was sitting right NEXT to me. They have their own private lot which was great because I try avoiding anywhere that has bad parking situations or overly crowded. It was somewhat a full house. Our party being the biggest group. I ordered a steak platter. Don't get me wrong, my food was great! I ordered it medium well & it was cooked to perfection. Flavorful, just chef's kiss. It also came with nopal, tortillas, a spoon of guac (literally 1 spoon), hella pico, panela, frijoles, & some fire papas. The papas had cheese & bacon. Soooo delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better dish. & honestly, wished our experience was better so I could continue to support this local business. THE DOWNFALL - To begin, again, the music... Couldn't even hear my own thoughts. When the waiter was asking for my order I told her, "I can't hear you." She had the NASTIEST attitude & it showed. It was an older blondish curly haired lady. Not my goddamn fault you guys have everything on volume 100. She proceeded to point to her electronic ordering system while rolling her eyes. I literally ordered it on the system myself. When we went in, we asked if the bill could be split PRIOR to ordering anything & they said YES. Cool, easier for everyone. After they were so unorganized & obviously did NOT know how to handle a large party, they got orders confused & ended up putting everything on ONE bill. They proceeded to later tell us we could not pay separately making it even more complicated when they already seemed to be flustered. Keep in mind, this was AFTER they told us we could split the bill by parties. While looking at the receipt, there were items that no one ordered being charged. We spent 30mins trying to figure out the bill. Had they done what they originally said they were, it would've been a breeze. They ended up willing to split everyone's bill per party, therefore making things even WORSE. Because they did not know who ordered what. My husband & I shared the steak platter, a jamiaca, & two micheladas. Our bill came out to no more than $70. We were first in line to pay; my husband gave them cash & they did not tender any change. IT IS NOT UP TO YOU TO DECIDE HOW MUCH WE WANT TO TIP BY KEEPING OUR CHANGE. If they were concerned about tip, they should have their own policies about large parties, gratuities, & enforcing split bills. My husband didn't say anything & I was outside because everything was giving me a headache. Had I been inside I would've asked for it back myself. But my husband let it go. Whatever, if they need it more than us. Lol. That's why you get paid hourly & it's not a requirement to tip. Although we always do, even if service is SHITTY. But again, not up to a waiter to decide. If you don't like your job or rely solely on tips, find a different job paying more! Once we paid, we stood outside in the parking lot waiting for the rest of our party. I'm not sure what happened after we went outside since we were the first to pay - but the other black-haired waitress, also older shouted profanities outside to us while inside the restaurant & we were standing in parking lot. Couldn't hear her clearly to make out what she said. Loved the food but not somewhere I'd be willing to spend money at after the horrible experience. BAD SERVICE, RUDE WAITERS, NASTY ATTITUDES, UNORGANIZED. DO NOT RECOMMEND & WOULD NEVER COME BACK.

    Costa azul is super delicious
    Marcos N.

From the moment you walk into this place the customer service is amazing. The chips and salsa are delicious I ordered the costa azul because I haven't found a place here In San Diego with good ones. Well I found the right place. This place is super good and the restaurant is super clean and a really nice family feel. Great job and I'll definitely be back.

    Taco and enchilada combination plate.
    Patti F.

Guests are greeted as they step into restaurant, and seated with menus, chips and delicious salsa. My mom an I shared a taco and enchilada combination plate. Bothe of us were served a noodle and tomato based soup to start. When entree arrived, extra plates and utensils were brought too. Our plate included beans, rice, nopales, guacamole and large taco and enchilada. Taco had at least 6 shrimp and enchilada was loaded with cheese and had a delicious sauce.

Very good food. Thank you for the great experience. The food was delicious. I have only tried that dish at home and not quite trusted outside restaurants to make shrimp with bacon. But this wasn't the exception I had to try it. And it was worth it! Thank you!!

First time here and I gotta say the seafood we ordered was delicious! The tostada el viejon, campechana and mojara frita was very good! Restaurant is clean. Waitresses were kind, great service.

    Filete a La Veracruzana

Food was very good. Their menu is mostly seafood which we enjoyed. Service was okay, one young man seemed confused by our questions however a more experienced server was extremely helpful. Overall, our experience was lovely and we will return.

Nice little spot located on Broadway in Chula Vista serving authentic Sinaloa style food. We had the molcajete for 2 people and it was enough food for 3+. Server was very nice and fast.

The place itself is very spacious and clean. They also have an outdoor patio for dogs. I do know later in the evening it gets louder and more like a club vibe, but it's not bad. Service was perfectly fine. I had no issues at all. Staff greeted us with a smile when we walked in. They were always checking up on us when we needed things. No issues at all. I thought everyone was doing their jobs. Happy hour is so worth it here. $1.99 tacos! I had the carne asada, birria and Chicharonnes tacos! While the meat portions look small, y'all need to realize this is happy hour street tacos! Adding some salsa from the self serve bar, it was so worth the price. We had 11 tacos, cheese nachos, 2 beers and 1 margarita and it was about $50! So worth it! I highly recommend Kalaveras for Mexican food. Great vibes. Great happy hour prices. I think this place is good for large groups also. It may not be kid friendly later into the night but it's very worth it!

Based off old Yelp pics, it looks like the business revamped their menu + interior. The aesthetics of this little cafe is so cute + social media worthy! From the interior, to the food/drink presentation, & everything in between. They have a small shared parking lot with other businesses. We got lucky as some patrons were leaving. When we walked in we were immediately seated. There is limited tables so I can see it getting busy. When we went, it was a full house. But one thing I must say - they are QUICK without us feeling rushed! We ordered a horchata, soda, birria fries, & the el mamado omelette. The food came out in what felt like less than 5mins!! I ordered the omelette with refried beans, rosemary potatoes, & tortillas. My omelette was perfect! Could've been a little hotter, but no complaints. I loved the taste & texture, everything paired well. My husband ordered the birria fries. The birria was so tender & the flavors were there! We asked for additional hot sauce - their salsas were not spicy enough for us. But as you read my other reviews, we have a MAJOR tolerance for spice. So what's not spicy for us can be spicy for others. Our total was $51 which was deff reasonable for everything we got. Definitely a cute hidden gem to try if you're in the area! Glad I was finally able to check this spot off my list.

For one place that was my favorite was the Denny's Restaurants the Denny's Restaurants many times it was places that had the feeling of family dining. On my day trip to the city of of Chula Vista the many areas of Chula Vista I have seen many restaurants with a few bars and the occasional Mexican restaurants. There was one restaurant that caught my eye the sign outside advertising shrimp and chicken it had all the looks of a family restaurant the looks of the front the standees they had at the front door. The sign at the door told me all the the tables with the families the sign from the entry said Rise and Dine . Seeing the high back booths the food that people were having some of the best since the time was still in the brunch hour. Looking at the restaurant the many seats with the large space told me the restaurant served the best family dishes with the ambiance of a family restaurant. The server seated me at the booth table giving me one of the menus the menu was one that was not a book size one that was easy the two page menu gave a picture the restaurant was that of a family style location. Seeing the menu food dishes the prices are some of the great prices from the breakfast to lunch dishes the breakfast dishes surprised me with the waffle excellence that was with bacon and sausage and the two eggs scrambled with the large waffle. When I placed the order sitting at the booth the look about the restaurant seeing the drinks area that was a service counter.
