Previously had great experiences, however last time my golden doodle had a haircut he was knicked on the neck and it got infected in a couple days. Wasn't that big of a deal we just had to get some antibiotics for him, and we called to ask if anything had happened during his grooming and Vickie was very understanding and offered to refund the grooming fee and any vet fees (there weren't any.) Now I try to take him back and "no one is willing to risk not getting paid for hours of work" for "something that wasn't even related." 1) You offered the refund, 2) Right, I'm sure he just happened to develop an infection at the site of a cut on his neck 2 days after his grooming completely by coincidence. read more

I moved and needed a new groomer. Nancy made room and my dog was beautifully groomed. He's 16, poor hearing and vision, bad joints and stressed about leaving the old neighborhood. He was treated very kindly. We'll be back. 2nd visit: our vet specified some trims to help with some old dog issues. Nancy kindly dealt with my anxiety and my old dog. Wonderful customer service and really great grooming. I can't recommend highly enough. 3rd visit: my poor old dog doesn't like other dogs and definitely doesn't like to be groomed. Recently I was unable to get my Pup Lucy booked with her normal groomer, after calling a few groomers and still having no luck , my friend Leslie recommended Vickie's. They were able to get Lucy in with a day's notice, they are located off the frontage road in Ventura and are next door to 7/11. The staff were nothing but polite and asked about any allergies Lucy might have or any illnesses. I explained that she has a bad back and that her back legs sometimes tire out. The wait time for grooming is standard to all the pet groomers I've been too, estimating about two hours. Arriving to pick her up , she looked great, her hair was shiny, nails clipped, and anal glands expressed. They were also wise to attach her bow to her harness, because Lucy hates things in her hair. The cost was $10 cheaper than the normal groomer I use. My opinion is a huge thumbs up, Lucy will be back. read more

This place is horrible!! The moment I walked in the door I should have realized I had made a mistake. The lack of organization and rudeness was incredible. I made an appointment days in advance. I showed up at my appointment time only to be met with "Can I help you?" I told them my name and my dog's name. She then asked why I was there and what did I need done. Really?!!! Why bother to make an appointment when I get there and they don't know why I am there. I have been to numerous groomers over the years. Every other time when I walked in the door at my appointment time they knew why I was there. I explained why I was there and filled out a new patient card. I asked when my dog would be ready and she said that she would "call me". I asked if she could give me an idea as to when my dog would be ready and she said she would "call me". This should have been another "red flag." I have never had a groomer not give me an approximate pick up time. I had dropped my dog off at 10:00 a.m. so when I hadn't heard anything by 1:00 p.m. I called. I told them my name and which dog I was calling about. First off, I got "who?" "which dog?" a couple of times like I was speaking a foreign language. She checked and said "he" wasn't done yet and they didn't know when "he" would be. My dog is a female. Besides the obvious characteristics between a male and female dog, my dog also has a pink collar, pink tag and feminine name. This was another "red flag." I was told that hadn't even put her in the dryer yet and she wouldn't be done until 3:00 p.m. I was outraged. Obviously they hadn't started her appointment at 10:00 a.m. when I dropped her off. The most it has ever taken to have her groomed is 3 hours and they wanted me to leave her there for 5 hours. Ridiculous!!!! I told them I was coming to pick her up now. I got there and was yelled at by the groomer and someone else who worked there. They were saying that I should have given them more time to groom her. I told them there is no way it should have taken 5 hours. I have had my dog for 10 years and had her groomed many times. This is the worst groomer I have ever used. Besides being unprofessional, unorganized and rude they are not animal people. Stay away!!!! read more

I've always given my dogs baths at home, until my dog was shedding way too much. I needed help deshedding him. My dog Buddy is a rescued & doesn't always warm up to people right away so I was nervous leaving him in the hands of someone else. After reading all the great reviews I decided to give Vickie's Pampered Pet a try. They did an amazing job. Taking such good care of my Bud Man. I can tell the difference in his coat, a lot less shedding and he looks so handsome with the bandana they put on him. An amazing staff! If you are looking for some where to take your pet where they truly love pets, this is the place for you. I adopted a dog and this is where he went since he was a pup, so naturally I had to try it out. The location is a little off, because it's not normally a street I travel down and the aesthetics is not fancy or trendy, but it's what I love about mom and pop places- over decorated places mean higher prices for the consumer. They did exactly what I asked for, and they even topped him off with a little ribbon (I took him in October, ribbons were orange and black and I LOVED it) They were thorough and even gave me tips and tricks to keep him looking good and clean in between grooming visits. I can't wait to take Charlie back this month because they get him softer and smelling even better than I can- and I'm hoping to see if I can get the products or find something similar to the grooming supplies they use. Came back from New York with the family to find the house infested with fleas. First time in 14 years the cat had fleas. Called several places and Vickie's was the only one who could take her on short notice. I am glad they were because the staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. We're so grateful we found Vickie's for our miniature schnauzer! We just moved to the area and the first grooming place we went to did a horrible job cutting his hair and our dog was very upset when we picked him up. Vickie was able to make him look like a miniature schnauzer again and gave him a very cute hair cut. They are so caring with the animals there, too. I recently had my dog in and he had a bad tooth, he's also older and fatter just like. me. Iwas appauld today when I called (it has been months since I no longer live in Ventura) to see if I could get my dog in for a haircut. I said "he needs it badly" when the response was well when he was in last he was sore and sluggish and there is no guarantee it could be completed. Again appauld. I wasinterested in scheduling it out till 9/20/19. I said I'll go elsewhere and disconnected the call. Great people. Due to a mistake on my part my beloved Webster spent the night with Lauren. His grooming was the best ever! Since he has alergies to some shampoos I brought mine. They were forgiving and I am so thankful. Prior to my leaving him I was concerned about the condition of his skin. It looked dry and dirty the same day I had taken him home from a different groomer! Now he is clean ALL over -- from his nose to the tip of his tail and the tips of his toenails. Webster liked being there, too. Even though he hugged my leg when he was brought to me he was happy. My dog Lexi has been coming here since she was a puppy, she's almost 9 now and she's always looked so good after getting her haircut BUT for the second time she now has an ear infection with "debris" inside her ear per her vet, following her visit at Vicki's pampered pet. A $50 haircut has turned into a $200 vet bill!! Not too sure her haircut is worth that much let alone the suffering my dog has endured having an ear infection! The only thing pampered at Vicki's Pampered Pet is Vickie. I have patronized this establishment for a couple of years but their service and customer focus has gone seriously off the rails. The owner acts like a dog groomer Nazi and was busy telling me what she would and wouldn't do in terms of my requests for proper treatment of my dog. I understand they are losing their lease so they be stressed out over that eventuality but that is no excuse not to recognize that "the customer comes first and is always right". Save yourself some headaches and stay away from these people. There are plenty of good dog groomers in Ventura who will behave properly and recognize that they are supposed to provide service not defensiveness and a snarl. read more

Awesome experiences here!! Have been several times for nail trims; they are gentle, affordable and quick. Couldn't ask for more for a nail trim..Now about their grooming...I've only had one full grooming experience here and it was AMAZING. We were taking my shitzu down from her full long hair to a close cut and I was super nervous and anxious about it all. The staff there was well informed and happy to help advise and recommend how much we take off. So glad they suggested I leave her long front hair for a pony. When I called them because I hadn't heard from them in a few hours and was nervous, they were super nice and reassured me my pup had been doing great. They did the same at pickup and I was so relieved to feel like I had left her in great hands knowing she had been comfortable. I love my dogs more than anything, and I get super nervous about leaving them with anyone cause I want them to be ok 24/7, and I would highly recommend this place for all your grooming needs. read more

We have been customers of Vickie's for many years. We had a Miniature Schnauzer for 15 1/2 years. In her early years we tried multiple groomers from mobile ones to big places like Pet Co. She was traumatized by her early grooming experiences where she was mistreated during her grooming. Because of that it was very traumatic for her to go to the groomers. Someone suggested we go to Vickie's. From the very beginning Vickie provided the most caring and gentle experience for our little girl. Over the years she was groomed there regularly and always had a positive experience and looked wonderful. Sadly we lost our little Schnauzer New Years' Eve. When my wife and I went and told Vickie personally, she and all of her staff cried with us. Happily, now we have a new little Miniature Schnauzer addition to our family. She is 4 months old and just had her first grooming experience at Vickie's. It was nice to be able to bring her to a familiar place where we have always received the 'Best' possible service for our beloved family member. Our new little puppy had a great non traumatic experience. She looked fabulous and was very happy and excited when we picked her up. As to some of the other complaints from other reviewer's, I can only say that with many years of experience at Vickie's we have never once had any problems such as infections or rashes, and have always had superb service. I think many of the negative comments from some people say much more about themselves, and are not necessarily reflective of the person or place they are reviewing. Some people need to stay on their medication regime and not skip their 'meds' just because they are starting to feel better!! read more

After my mobile dog groomer stood me up I called Vickie's Pampered Pet and was told toenail trims were on a "walk in" basis. I went in around 2pm expecting a long wait but was greeted immediately and within minutes both of my dogs were whisked to the back to have their toenails trimmed. And at $10 for both vs the $45 I pay the mobile groomer it was a steal! My dogs were treated with kindness and their toenails were trimmed to the right length without any injury. I will be saving the $35 a month I spend on mobile groomers and taking my business to Vickie's from now on! read more

Brody's first visit here today. I'm very satisfied, I called this morning to make him an appointment and they got him in today. He's a short hair dog so he doesn't require a hair cut but it was still nice that they took him same day. Megan did a great job on him! I just picked up my jack and I was soo impressed! The last few days the only places that were open were petco and petsmart. I have had such horrid experiences with them I waited to roll the dice on a new place. They did an excellent job! When I got there he was almost perfect.
