Our dogs enjoyed the doggie area.

Amazing selection of burgers, really good Tropical drinks, friendly service , great waterfront view with outdoor seating. We sat outside in the doggie area. Dogs are treated like kings here and have their own menu! Our furry family had a great time.

Decided to go back now they have reopened. Wait staff very friendly and service was good. Food was good, nothing above and beyond. Will try the burger next time for a baseline comparison. Had the pulled pork and the steak sandwiches The 3 star is mostly Tap beer was kinda warm ish - bottle near was fine. A little pricey too. The 2 beers , iced tea sandwiches plus tip was $60.00 Perhaps they could do a "happy hour" day. We will be back though. Love the outdoor seating

    Ribs and shrimp tasty

Ok we had soft pretzels the kind you buy at grocery store. The two soups were not edible. Onion and not sure the other one but it tasted like flour. I had ribs and shrimp. Over all good the onion straws were not my favorite. My friends had the taco and chicken sandwich. Would try Ag with no soup or pretzels. Burger are supposed to be good but I was not in mood for that. Will go back and try and let you know at some point lol. Ps we tried to sit at the bar and was told we couldn't. That was strange. So we had to sit at a table.

Onion rings with 3 dipping sauces

Few things I enjoy more than a hot summer day on a boat, and docking at a more than adequate waterside joint for cocktails and snacks. Such was the case I hit Vickies Place, in McHenry, IL. McHenry is perched on the Fox River, which runs into the Chain of Lakes, on up to outside of Milwaukee, and south to the Illinois River, which rolls into the Mississippi about 25 miles north of St. Louis. I'm sure most summer days Vickies is a mad house, but in the middle of a weekday after noon when we floated up, it was relatively quiet. The menu has something for every taste. I will caution you in advance, this is one of those places you are going to get OVERSERVED in the food realm. I opted for an order of rings as a starter, which came with three different dipping sauces, very tasty, big mistake, as all of the over-sized sandwches are accompanied by BOTH fries and onion straws. Could be wrong, but had the feeling the rings weren't made in house, but the onion straws were. Both were delicious. The fries? Those extruded things, I know they are popular with a lot of people, just not my personal favorites - I like to be able to tell fries came from a potato. I went with the Black and Blue Lagoon burger, cajun seasoned hand-formed eight ounce patty, blue cheese crumbles, and blue cheese sauce - served on the most incredibly soft butter-topped roll. Dressed with lettuce and tomato, with a great pickle spear on the side. Real crunch. The patty was quality beef, and the taste came through loud and clear. Couldn't get anywhere near finishing the plate. They have entrees, sandwiches, baskets, house-made pizza, and the ubiquitous Friday night fish fry. Our server "K.C." was affable, knowledgeable, and outgoing. Attentive without hovering. She's wasting her talents there. If you find yourself boating up the Fox, or driving the back roads of northern Illinois, Vickies is worth a stop.

Everything was great about this place and the hype is legit!…read more First off, the parking is great! A nice big free lot across the street. No need to find street parking. We walked in on a lazy Sunday post the lunch rush, around 2. I forget what burger I got, but it did not disappoint. Everyone who has said I need to check it out was tight. It was very good. The burger was flavorful and juicy. The toppings were fresh and the fries were tasty. Everything was great! I returned with my burger club and most guys liked it however, some got the burgers that had so much going on that your taste buds are in over drive. Just stick with a build your own burger and avoid all the crazy toppings and you'll love it.

We were in the area strawberry picking and wanted to find a local place for lunch. Based on Google…read morereviews, we chose DC Cobb's. I'm glad we didn't skip this place based on the Yelp reviews. The restaurant is in the heart of downtown McHenry and next to the river. I highly recommend sitting in the enclosed patio. It's spacious, full of tvs, and has a nice view of the river. You can tell based on the menu and confirmed by our server, burgers are their thing. All kinds including beef, bison, chicken, turkey, veggie and fish, some choices are an up charge. The burgers come with a side, some have an up charge. Our server mentioned everything is made in-house. I feel it's a rarity of restaurants to made their food in-house so it made me excited for the food. Everything is reasonably price. I opted for the BFM burger and pickle chips ($2 up charge). The burger was juicy and well cooked. Their burgers are 1/2 lbs so it was big. The pickle chips were crunchy and really good. Portion was huge and worth the up charge. My lunch partner chose Cajun fries and they were crispy and flavorful. Our server was great! She was so nice! One negative, they allow dogs and many people brought their dogs. Since the space is enclosed, I did not like all the dogs while I was eating. It was tricky leaving since the hostess stand is located in the tight entrance and there was a dog right in the doorway. My lunch companion is deathly allergic to dogs. Luckily this dog owner was considerate and moved their dog so we could pass. Other than all the dogs, we enjoyed our meal and would come again.

Been meaning to try this place out and was not disappointed…read more It's small inside, with larger (maybe communal?) tables, you order from the counter and they bring out the food. We ordered an Italian sandwich and Philly cheesesteak (tuesdays only), with fries and drinks. This was the best Italian sub sandwich I've had in the area. The meats were generous and it tasted so fresh. The cheesesteak was also fresh and delicious, the taste of the steak being a huge standout. Both sandwiches had amazing bread, and the fries were delicious. The price was a little steep at almost $50 for two sandwiches, one bag of chips, one soda, and an order of fries. But for me, the quality was worth the price for a once in a while treat. Our only complaint was the ketchup came in packets, and they either were old or not under proper temp control. The texture was off, and the packets were inflated... making it seem like they went bad. We will be coming back for sure.

Why has this place turned into a dirty fingerprint and meat smudged pit? The last time I was in I…read morehad noted a decline in cleanliness, but now it can only described as so much so to be completely unappealing. There wasn't a single metal or glass surface that wasn't smeared and smudged, both inside and out. Display cases were disheveled, with price and description tags laying backward and turned over so as to not be readable. Not one, not two but at least half were this way or completely missing. Shelves were dusty. The bottoms of the freezers grimy and the glass dirty. The prep area behind the counter was none too impressive either. I ordered a Reuben and expected a real deli style sandwich with a great sauce and good kraut. What I was served looked like someone had wadded up a ball of shaved corned beef and slammed it in the middle of a very large slice of toast leaving about 1 1/2" of naked crust surrounding a ball of beef. The sauce was lackluster and the kraut almost tasteless. I've had better Rueben's across the street for nearly half the price. The ribeye sandwich was tasty, but uninspired and looked like it had been slapped together by a 3rd grader. Zero attention given to presentation. If I am going to an establishment which charges $30 a lb for ribeyes and $14 -$17 for a sandwich with only a limp dill pickle quarter as a side, I expect an equally corresponding attention to cleanliness and detail. This trip in was enough to make me not ever want to return. I doubt I will.

I don't know what I was expecting from Epic Deli, but it was not a compact remix of Dave-n-Busters…read more I might order from there again, but I will never eat there again. Epic relies heavily on the video game machines to hold the weight of a decor, while the table tops you sit at are one giant billboard ad filled with QR codes. The walls seem to have band type memorabilia hung from years ago when they all were in their prime, along with ads for local festivals that you would never see because there is so much going on with the walls, the table tops, and the signage that is wrapping the standing video games to show what game it is. Overall, the food is solid. Out of everything I ordered I would say the cheese curds were really done well.. I'm not into cheese cards per se, but I've noticed that in this particular area being so close to Wisconsin that the quality of cheese curd is important to customers that seek out this appetizer specifically. Because I ordered cheese curds I did not want french fries with my sandwich. I found the alternatives offered for sides were overall not appealing, and I couldn't substitute cheese curds for an extra fee.. I got the Italian pasta as a side and it was disappointing.. I got the Soul man as my sandwich. I don't know if I'm just used to Jimmy John's., or if I just don't like the bread that epic uses to make their sandwiches. I felt like I was biting into my pillow and not an actual fresh chunk of bread. One impressive thing I noticed about their sandwiches.... They travel well and stand up to being a solid left over.. I was only able to eat half of my sandwich. On the next day by sandwich tasted exactly the same, which is something I cannot say of any other sandwich shop that makes sub sandwiches.. There's a lot to sift through when it comes to the menu. I would eat here again, but I don't have this excitement towards eating here like most of the locals were excited when epic deli finally had a location out in this area.. My advice would be to order to go unless you appreciate retro video games. I can only imagine what that place is like after 5 PM.
