Once I shared what I was looking for, she went to action pulling pieces that I might like - she even pulled from the sale rack. A Chanel dress in the window is what caught my attention and brought me inside. Jan did not hesitate to remove it from the mannequin so I could try it on. In the shop each rack is labeled by designer so if you're a fan of Prada or McQueen it will be easy to find. There is also a shoe and purse section. After 30+ years in operation you can count on Jan to know what is on trend and what to pass on. Great first experience here, I definitely will return. Closed on Monday. I am a long time resident of Petaluma and have always been curious about this store. Recently my mother came to visit and she loves to shop consignment so we decided to check out Vicki's. My mom is a people person and loves to engage with small business owners. My mom started up a conversation regarding a designer piece- I forget the brand- and was corrected on the pronunciation of the brand by the owner. Then my mother inquired about the price as it appeared to her to be a bit high and the owner was dismissive. The experience was not great. It felt like we were judged from the moment we entered given we were in workout clothing and not so fancy. Also doesn't seem like products move quickly - and there is a distinct stale smell. read more

I purchased a designer top ($150) that the owner said was new and never worn. I tried it on with a mask on since it was required to enter. I went home and the top was full of perfume . I am allergic to perfume smells. I hung the top outside for the evening and called and left several messages. I finally reached the owner at 11:30am right after opening the next day. I told her I couldn't wear the top due to the strong odor. She insisted she could not control it if people wore perfume while trying clothes on. I told her someone sprayed perfume on while they were wearing it. I asked to return the top for credit or refund. She said she would not because she would loose money because she already paid for the top as soon as it was purchased. Really in a day? That is not what happens in a consignment store. She was not helpful and was very abrupt. I will never step foot in this store again. read more

Well, I really hate to write a horrible review, but looks like they brought it upon themselves. I was in here recently with my mother and my baby. We were just browsing since we've heard about this place here and there (mostly because of the name of the business and Victoria's Secret getting all bothered about it). We strolled in and the woman whom I assume is the owner, gave us the most obligatory "hello" and the look on her face immediately told us she knew we didn't fit her little clientele profile. Yeah, that's right--we got "retail profiled"! haha. The store had an overwhelming older woman perfume smell that gave me a headache, and the items were ridiculously priced. I'm sure they're nice, and I could see they were designed, but for consignment--c'mon. As we left, I said, "thank you!" because that's what I do to small business owners since not a lot of people do that these days and I try to be nice. Well, I guess it doesn't matter since her and the other employee went right on jabbering their lips off, not acknowledging us leaving and thanking them for nothing apparently. I will never go back here, and VICKY, if you want to stay afloat in a store full of unnecessaries in the midst of one of the roughest economic times in our history, you better learn to appreciate any inkling of a customer walking into your store. If you are looking for the ultimate in high-end second-hand clothing, this is the place. It is definately worth traveling to Petaluma for a visit to this treasure trove of bargains! I once found a Chanel dress that was in perfect condition, and fit me like a glove, for a fraction of a fraction of the retail price. The more I shop here, the more I love it. They let me shop in peace, or help me find the perfect dress for that important occasion. I really appreciate that Jan can style me in ways that photograph well or help me 'leverage' a basic piece of clothing into outfits that rock. Items I buy there never let me down. The shop is in the beautiful historical district downtown. It's adorable but the buildings are very narrow. It is worth the trip to Petaluma, as she carries the most sought after clothes,purses, shoes and fabulous jewelry. And she has such a great selection that you can make one stop and find most of what you need to add to wardrobe or deck yourself out for that special event. Owner Jann Mettner is a classy, savvy fashionista who gives wonderful personalized service customized to fit your needs and budget. I have been coming to Vicki's Secret for years, primarily because of Jan's warm and friendly nature. It's like going to a mini Neiman Marcus couture dept. where most everything is very slightly pre-owned-but many items have never been worn with tags on! I get a rush every time I go - the more you go the more Jan will get to know your style and colors and if she knows in advance you are coming she will put aside a few things for you to try on - and here's the good part-there is never any pressure at all to buy. I have labels in my closet I thought I would never own - I personally would never go and buy retail Chanel or Prada ready to wear, but now with Vicki's Secret I can buy these labels-guilt free. Yes-you will pay a bit more than your average consignment boutique - but when you are spending say $300 for a Cavalli dress instead of $1500 I'd say you got a great deal. Jan personally inspects each garment for flaws and would never put anything out that has stains or snags - and if there is a teenie light flaw it is disclosed up front. No surprises. She regularly rotates her clothes so nothing goes stale - and sticks to each season. And not to scare anyone away-she even has some select contemporary designers such as Tory Burch, J. So I don't normally do this but I was so hurt and disappointed with this store that I thought I owed it to others to tell my story. So I put up a pair of shoes and a bag for consignment at the store and opted to pick them up if they didn't sell, which they didn't. So when I called to find this information out, I told the owner I would pick them up and she said fine. Well life got busy and I forgot to to pick them up until a little over a month later. So when I finally went to get them the owner told me (in a very rude and cold manner) that she had donated my things and that they don't have time to call everyone to tell this information. She said I had a week from the time my consignment ended to have picked them up. Well that was the first time I had been told that, and if I had known it would have been more of a priority. The thing that really gets me is that she says she didn't have time to call( the whole minute it would have taken) when every time I have been in that store there was no one else in it!! This woman is rude, condescending, and very lucky to still be in business after all these years. All I can say is she should really get her nose out of the air and pay more respect to her younger clientele considering she is fading fast. read more

The owner Jan sold me a fake Louis Vuitton wallet for $150.00 When I went to get a repair at Louis Vuitton I was informed that it was a counterfeit. I went back to Vicki's Secret and talked to Jan and gave her the wallet. After months of deliberation she informed me that she would give me a $75.00 store credit and nothing more. I recently went up to Petaluma and was rudely told by Jan that since I waited to long she was not going to honer the credit at all!! I have spend thousands of dollars there in the past and will never step foot in that shop again. I am also sending in a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for selling counterfeit items at designer prices. read more
