I went back for a facial at VickyC5 about a month and felt that I should update as I get ready to make another appointment. I've taken a fairly long hiatus with facial but my pores were in a bad shape. I have combination skin where it is mostly dry except pores on my nose get very clogged. The whole experience a bit over an hour. The massage during the facial was great. My technician was great! The ambiance wasn't anything fancy but clean and comfortable. Extractions were gentle and fairly quick. The technician used a machine to scrub down my T-Zone area. There was a nice mask at the end which smelled delicious. The reason why I am definitely going back and planning on going regularly is it is not so much the day of facial but the next day, I noticed a huge difference in my skin. It was definitely brighter and cleaner. I highly recommend it to those who has issues with clogged pores. Lastly, I went back for the second session of permanent eyeline and I'm really glad I got it done! Now, I can easily put on mascara on a busy day and be out. read more

I chose VickyC5 for makeup and hairstyling service for my wedding day as I believe them to be extremely experienced and skilled with general aesthetics, with special expertise in Asian faces. Alice was my main makeup artist, and Hera was the main hairstylist and they did a splendid job with my mother, sister, my bridesmaids, and me. During the trial, Alice first applied lighter makeup, as was my preference, and gradually layered until we felt like we had the perfect balance of a natural and camera-ready look. On the day of my wedding, Alice, Hera, and their team was able to get 7 women ready in under 3 hours without compromising quality, even though 3 of the 7 had arrived a little later than planned due to unexpected traffic. All of the bridesmaids were extremely happy with how they looked. Even my sister, who normally abhors makeup, was pleasantly surprised and very pleased. Prior to VickyC5, I always thought that camera-ready makeup would inevitably mean slightly more dramatic makeup to the naked eye as I've always found that to be the case from attending weddings to previous bridesmaid experience. Alice, however, is so skilled and did such a superb job that I looked very natural in person but still looked amazing on camera. Hera was able to organize my very limp and incorrigible hair (even by Asian standards) into a textured low bun and intricately dressed it with a thin headpiece thread that I had bought but had no concept or idea of how to incorporate. My hair and makeup stayed put and remained looking fresh throughout the night, without any added effort from me, in a mid-Summer outdoor wedding/reception. I want to start by saying I had chosen VickyC5 because they did the hair and makeup for my fabulous best friend and another friend of mine. The entire planning process was really great. The entire team at the Manhattan branch worked out every detail and helped me to develop a style. They helped me choose a great fresh look for my engagement photoshoot and I had people asking me about who did my makeup even now. The makeup they use is great quality and lasted forever. I have super oily skin but the foundation held, the liner and mascara didn't smudge and I felt like the prettiest version of myself. I spent over $1000 getting my trials and day of look done with VickyC5. At the trial, they do everything to help you achieve your desired look. They are also all very nice. The days before the wedding and the day of, they are not so accommodating. Maybe they know chances are they won't see you again? I was told at my wedding day that they are not as busy as they normally get, yet they had 2 different people doing my hair and makeup. The girl who did not do my trial did my hair and when I told her I wanted the look I had at the trial, (which she didn't even look at the pictures of), she insisted what she was doing was better. This style started falling down shortly after dancing. The lady who did my makeup also put in minimum effort and told me the look I had for the trial would not be good for me that day. She didn't push and ask me to join bridal make up trial and the add on package like being with me for 3 hours while I do wedding photos. End up buying a 5 times package right after my first experience. The facial was excellent, so was the message.I also bought 2 skincare products introduced to me. The price is very affordable. I tried to reschedule my make up time last minute after I had seen the weather report, hoping to avoid the rain. Vicky was very flexible. She responded to my msg that very morning right away and agreed to came early afternoon instead of mid afternoon. Her schedule was usually very packed but I was lucky that she could make it since it was a Mon afternoon. She showed up on time with her assistant. She made me very pretty that day. I cried so much during the ceremony but strange enough, my make up didn't smudge at all!! Her assistant helped with my mother and sister make up and they were very happy with the result too. Because of the pouring rain, the photographer suggested us to reschedule our photo taking session after the ceremony. Vicky offered to do my make up again for the rescheduled date. I was soooo touched!! She also accompanied me back to hotel from central park and redid my make up/changed my hair style to get me ready for dinner. She was soaking wet because of the heavy hair. Vicky & team was absolutely amazing to work with through our entire wedding planning process and wedding day. Our venue was not the easiest to work with regarding coordinating a place to get ready for the wedding, and Vicky & team were extremely accommodating throughout the planning process, and ready to work with whatever accommodation we had (even though we ended up finding a pretty nice place to get ready at). Today is the third time getting my lash extensions done. I absolutely love it! Saves me so much time in the morning, not having to do eye makeup. I can now get ready in less than 15 minutes in the morning without looking tired. The lashes really define my eyes and literally "wake-up" my face. It can be tricky at first not to touch the lashes when washing your face, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Jina does a wonderful job of making the lashes look very natural for an everyday look. She's so gentle with the process that I almost always fall asleep. The process takes about an hour and very easy. I am thoroughly impressed...this being my first time; I didn't know what to expect and so I was nervous about the whole process. I was very pleasantly surprised to arrive at a nice spa environment with a very nice attendant at the desk. The technician then led me to a back treatment room and walked me through the options of length and curl. The as I lay on a super comfy heated bed in a room with aromatherapy scents & sounds that soothed me to sleep, the adept technician used her delicate touch to apply the lashes. After only 45 minutes (and a couple of naps) I sat up and looked at her handiworked...and was/am VERY HAPPY. My natural lashes are short and I use mascara and a curler to help them...I am going on vacation and didn't want to bother with make-up so thought I'd try it....I am hooked and will be going back again and again! read more

Hera and her team did my hair/makeup for both my engagement shoot and wedding last October. I was recommended to them by a few friends who used them for their weddings. Now I understand why they're the go-to wedding salon for Asians in the tri-state area! My wedding party of five bridesmaids, mother, and mother-in-law were all absolutely thrilled with the end result. Even though I got my hair/makeup done by Hera for my engagement shoot, I decided to go back for a separate hair trial. I had my hair straight for my engagement shoot so wanted to try an up-do (I was already satisfied with my makeup). I made the mistake of going into this without any photos so after my first hair trial, I decided to go back for another better prepared (I know, rookie mistake!). I thought I found the hair style I wanted on my second try, but after a little more time spent on pinterest, I decided to change my hair style the day of the wedding. I was worried I would drive Hera crazy with all my changes, but she was totally understanding and very accommodating. I purchased the on-site service (highly recommend this!) as I also had a Korean ceremony during my cocktail hour. Since I had them on-site, I decided to change my hair style after my Korean ceremony and before the reception. I'm pretty Hera didn't need to touch up my hair/makeup as many times as she did throughout the day, but you could tell she really wanted to make you look and feel good on your big day. Not only did she touch up my hair/makeup, but she also looked out for both moms and all my bridesmaids all day. I had Vickyc5 as my wedding hair and makeup artist for my girls and I. My wedding was at 501 Union in March. Vicky, and also her team, was simply amazing. I hadn't given much solid ideas of what I wanted because I am never clear about what looks best on me. So Vicky took charge and with very little instructions, she made me look more amazing than I expected. Vicky is so experienced with weddings, she also gave all of us very good advice throughout the day, and did things for us that are beyond her scope of work. I have three examples: 1. Before she applied the hair/makeup completely for my ceremony look (the look that's for my white wedding dress, duh!), she suggested that I should quickly slip on my red dress (the one I planned to wear for reception) to take a few photos first in order to take advantage of the nice daytime lighting. I did so and she applied an 'interim' hair/makeup that best suited for that dress just for those few photo shoots. After those photo shoots, she moved on to complete the hair/makeup. 2. Vicky voluntarily styled/fixed the hair of my officiant (without anyone asking her to!) before the ceremony because my officiant's hair just did not look good after she was asked to put a microphone headpiece on for the ceremony opening. 3. Right before the ceremony, when all parents and wedding parties lined up for the processional march-in, she noticed they didn't have their boutonnieres on them, and yet she saw them somewhere beforehand. Without panicking me, she ran to grab the boutonnieres and put them on each of the individuals calmly (even when the music had started and they were cued to start marching). All these examples just show Vicky and her team genuinely cares about not just her job, but also your wedding as a whole. And this made me felt very warm and felt like hiring them is the one of the best decision I've made throughout this wedding planning. I have very short and sparse lashes and ever since eyelash extentions became common, I wanted to try them but couldn't afford the price. Finally, I gave it a try a couple months ago with a groupon at VickyC5. I got hooked (and fortunately I can now afford them). As others have said, the place is very clean and you get a nice private room. I have been coming back for a touch up every two weeks and the look is absolutely natural. Only people who know I have almost no lashes can tell I got extensions, others believe they are my own. I went for a 2nd lash extension appt and unfortunately it was not nearly as good as the first. This time the lashes didn't come out looking as pretty (even though I asked for the same exact look) and started falling out a lot faster. I knew something was off when Amy (same technician) did the lashes a lot faster than the first time. I noticed right away that several lashes hung low at the outer edge of both eyes. I asked for a "cat-look" both times with longer, dramatic lashes at the end; the first time they were up and dramatic and gorgeous. This time they dropped and were not nearly as dramatic looking and did not create a pretty line. I left but realized that evening that the drooping lashes were bothering my eyes - they were getting caught on the lower lashes and were bothering my vision so that I kept having to push them out of my line of sight. I emailed Amy and to her credit she responded same day and told me to come in so she can take a look. Eyes taped and 15 minutes later I found that my left eye drooping lashes were fixed but the right was not. I inquired and was told some inexplicable excuse as for why the right eye could not be fixed. As a result 2 lashes still droop and look weird on that eye. It's been 10 days and the lashes look sparse and lame. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt but it feels like a bait and switch since they got me to purchase more visits on my first visit. I have one more left so we shall see. read more

They brought a 3-people team on my wedding day for the bride, bride's mom, and 3 bridesmaids. One member of the team seemed very inexperienced and did all the prep work for the hair, was completely useless- although Hera took care of it later, she was too busy to fix it perfectly and as a result, I was not happy with my hair on my wedding day (and of course how it looks in my photos) . I know they want to train their newly hired, but I don't think they should let them take care of the bride unless they feel absolutely confident. Considering the steep price (+ tip ), me and my bridal party felt a bit rushed and overall experience was meh- very disappointed since I put my TRUST in Hera/Vicky, was so excited for my wedding day- wish they could've sent a team where all members were experts and efficient so that they didn't have to fix mistakes and rush through everyone and end up making me feel like I've wasted my money. read more

Just got eyelash extensions by Angie and am so happy with the results that I wanted to write a Yelp review. I was referred to Angie by a friend. I used a groupon as it was my first time getting eyelash extensions at VickyC5. I paid a little extra for 10 more pieces (so I got 90 pcs total). First off, she was super fast! It only took her a little over an hour and she was meticulous. The extensions do not hurt or pinch and look great! I got the C curl and Angie recommended a thicker extension so that it would achieve the look I was looking for: natural but still dramatic. The studio is very clean and cute. I consider myself so lucky to have been able to book Vicky and her team to help me, my 6 bridesmaids, my mom and mother-in-law on my wedding day! They were a pleasure to work - Everything from the consultation to the trial to my pre-wedding facial to my wedding day! Vicky and her team are amazing and did an incredible job making us all feel our best on the day. The makeup and hair held up the entire day and photographed beautifully. They even went out of their way to help me bustle my dress for my reception which wasn't necessary but a HUGE help. I used VickyC5 for my hair & makeup for my NY wedding as well as 5 other bridesmaids who did either their hair or makeup. We went to their studio on W 29th st to get ready. The team was amazing -- Amy did my makeup flawlessly. She was great at not over-doing the makeup and listening to what I wanted, but making me glow. The team was also incredibly efficient -- we arrived at 10:30am and were done by 1pm! My hair and makeup lasted the entire evening. My experience at VickyC5 was nothing short of perfect. Having seen some of my closest friends get their wedding day make-up done by VickyC5, I knew that for my wedding I would want the same. Vicky is extremely sweet and accommodating. It was effortless to book them for my wedding and to set up times for make-up and hair trial. Prior to the wedding, my best friend, aunt and I signed up for make-up classes with Amy and that was such a great experience as well. Amy was my make-up artist for the wedding day and being able to work closely with her beforehand really helped to break the ice and let us get to know one another better. We had so much fun! Aside from getting make-up classes there we also tried their facial package and eyelash perming- these are also great services! For my wedding this past August, we booked the DoubleTree hotel next door and even though we were 3 store fronts down, Amy and her team gave us a courtesy on-site make-up so we could catch some more sleep! They were there on the dot when they said they'd arrive and the morning could not have gone smoother. We laughed and joked and it definitely helped to ease any anxiety. The whole team was super friendly and super sweet too. The 3 of them fixed up the 6 of us and everyone looked flawless. The make-up and hair stayed in tact after 10 hours and we were all beyond impressed. Through the sun, tears and sweat, the make-up looked as good as when it was first applied. Vicky and her team are truly the best! They made me and all of my ladies look and feel their best. From the initial consultation to the day-of, the team was very easy to work with. I gave them inspiration images and they were happy to work with it and also gave me other suggestions.
