While on a Bday trip last weekend with friends we were looking for a quick takeout meal. I scrolled through yelp and Founds Vics. My friends both ordered half subs but I went for the gusto and went full and Super. The Sub itself was on a nice warm bread dusted with flowerequal parts soft and firm. The Shaved Steak meat, the real mushrooms, and cheese all complimented each other. The meal became three for me for I think $15? Service was quick, it was ready in about 10 minutes from calling. When I walked in I saw a service line of men behind the counter each working different parts of sandwiches which i thought was effecient. Staff was pleasant, quick and it felt like the place the locals come. When in a big tourist city I try to avoid the tourist places. My in-laws love Vic's and order them whenever they're in town. We had Italian Subs for dinner on Friday at home via takeout. Onion and hot peppers on the side were ordered and they are nicely packaged. Onion is sliced thin and perfect. Subs are good quality and very tasty. I just wish they would throw on a couple extra slices of meat given the cost for the half sub shown in pics. They were a bit light on meat in my humble opinion. What??!! This is the best sub in America, no question. Maybe? I found out about Vics subs from my coworkers. This place is the #1 spot for sandwiches in the area. My go to is the "regular," which is a classic Italian sub. I usually get lettuce, tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Placing an order online before the lunch rush seems to be ideal when you are trying to get in and out. The sandwiches here are FRESH and plentiful. You will not be hungry afterwards. The staff is friendly and efficient. They crank out those orders nonstop. Massive subs that will scratch the itch for good quality bread and tasty subs. I have had the tuna and the mushroom, egg, and cheese. Both are superb with a slight edge to the warm egg sandwich. I really wanted to love this cherished sandwich shop. The staff was super sweet. The selection was great. Unfortunately they got my order wrong and I'd already driven thirty minutes away. They also got my mom's order wrong. We had cheesesteaks so we will just have to assume they're as good as people claim, haha. I will try them again some time. My first choice for a "regular" Italian sub. I order here several times a month. The service is great, and the sandwich is even better. Full disclosure: I've been going here my entire life since Vic, his mother and brother ran the place. Mike keeps that tradition alive and going strong! Don't buy the hype of a Whitehouse sub in Atlantic City. My great-grandmother - who ran restaurants in AC all her life, and once lived next door to the place on Ohio Ave - told me Vic coined the term "submarine" sandwich two years before those other places that copied him and started the Jersey tradition. Vic's raised kitchen is gone, but everyone there today is just as serious about giving you the best sandwich every time - perfectly constructed just like Vic did coming home after his service on a submarine during WW II. Don't do it! I've been a fan of Vic's for years. Unfortunately my last visit has turned the tide & soured my note.. I even signed up for Yelp to spread the word. After a 40 min min. drive down on Monday Jan Mon 9th Heads up! We're/I'm done with Vic's. my wife wanted a sub when she got back in from her long trip from down South. I ran down early Sunday to pick up 3-halfs ...turkey w/prov cheese, a ham & cheese and a tuna. To our surprise, all three were very short on fillings (except for cheese) and the bread was day-old. We were shocked, but for $28 I'll have to find another favorite sub shop and probably closer to where we are. I have already drafted a review on Trip Advisor expressing, in more detail, what I've said here. I guess that's how they're rolling in the new year. We got beat! read more

As the go-to place for traditional subs in Absecon I was in shock the first month of this "pandemic" when Vic's closed for a month. They took the time to set up a very efficient service based on pick up and delivery and their food is as good as always. Called from my cell tonight and ordered two halves for dinner. Took the order over phone and I gave credit card numbers. (I think you can do it there but this is relay the fast way). They give you an estimated wait time and the the best part is they text you back when your order is ready. Keeps you from waiting out side. I've reviewed Vic's at least three times now and it just keeps the course of an Absecon tradition. Regular Sub and Ham and Cheese were perfect. Only got halves and only ate half of that. They get better in the frig for tomorrow. read more
