Cute place! Came to…read moretry the edible cookie dough. For 8 oz and $6, you are given a good amount of it. I got the chocolate chip cookie dough with butterscotch, white chocolate, and extra milk chocolate chips. You are given the option of 3 toppings to add into your cookie dough. I thought the price for the amount of cookie dough you receive is fair and that the cookie dough was delicious! There is also other desserts out for sale and a Cupcake Vault that was presented by the register as well. The cupcakes looked delicious and there were many flavors presented as well. However, I noticed on the website that there are also supposed to be slices of cake sold as well. I didn't see any at the store, which was kind of disappointing. Overall I'd definitely check this place out if I ever need to order a custom cake.

What caught my eye the most was the edible cookie dough option with a choice of toppings mixed in (they blend it like coldstone does ice cream). I do have to say their stock was pretty low. I order a half dozen cupcakes and felt bad because we took the last of a couple different flavors. Time of day is 12pm on a Tuesday so I'm surprised they are so low on choices. Cupcakes were mixed review. The vanilla cakes seemed a little less dry than the chocolate. The toppings were cool, though. And the service was great!

It is St. Joseph's Day. I have never had a zeppola and it's about time I did. So off we went to…read morestand in line at The Original Italian Bakery. The bakery has a small parking lot with about half a dozen spots. A policeman was on duty today to direct cars to the Walgreen parking lot next door when this lot was full, and to let them in when spots were open. As the line of people waiting outside the door to get in was constant, this was very smart planning and much appreciated. Some folks seemed to know St. Joseph's Day was very busy here and had placed orders in advance. These smart shoppers skipped the line and quickly came back outside with their orders bagged up. The line moved pretty well with four shop assistants helping customers. Only about 10 guests, max, fit inside at a time. Once inside bagged breads like sandwich rolls were on shelves while calzone and other meal pastry were in a case. Then, there were three cases full of zeppola. During our visit they had chocolate, pistachio, ricotta and original available. We got one of each. I cut my first zeppola in half and see the cream filling sits all the way down into the pastry. These are firm enough to hold in your hand and bit into. The pastry is very much like that in an éclair. Firm while being light and airy. The original filling is a lovely custard. The chocolate is a fluffy cream base I believe. Both were very tasty. I have two more to try and am looking forward to them. Between these tasty pastry and other items they had for sale there, we'll be back. You should check them out too.

They also give back to the community by donating to schools and worthy causes. I wish I would've taken pictures during my visit, but it was a holiday weekend and it was packed. A good sign that this establishment is definitely worth a visit.

So I scrolled bakeries on Yelp and saw photos of Borrelli's shelves with cakes available for sale. Perfect! I hopped in the car and Wow, do they have a lot of cakes for sale! There are several display cases with cupcakes, pastry, donuts, cakes, calzones, spinach pies, breads. So much deliciousness. The person I was buying a birthday cake for does not particularly like cake so I wasn't quite sure what to get. They do sell the large frosted cookies, but I wasn't sure that was quite right. Then I saw it. Tiramisu! A great big round Tiramisu cake! Yes! We stuck some candles in there, sang happy birthday and cut it along the lady fingers around the edge. A 'two finger' slice or a 'one finger' slice made serving easy. And OMG, this is SO. Good! Creamy, coffee tiramisu cream with layers of lady fingers in between. Not too sweet, lots of coffee flavor. We easily got 12 servings and everyone loved it. Even the non-cake eating birthday recipient. Yay! There is no price list posted in the shop so I ask for the price of the item I was interested in. Credit card sales have a small transaction fee added (one dollar for my order) or use cash to avoid the fee. The entrance does not appear to be wheelchair accessible. Not sure if they have a different entrance? But there is a curb between the parking lot and the door. Just fyi. There were three staff members out front when we arrived to assist customers. Two were working with another customer and I spent a good deal of time checking out all the display cases and talking with my husband. No one interrupted my perusal. When I looked up to ask a question a young woman made eye contact and assisted me with my purchase. Very pleasant to speak with and she quickly boxed up my cake and wrapped it with twine. All together an excellent experience.
