We visited LaSalle Bakery as part of RI Food Fights Ice Coffee Summer Celebration. We had been to the Smith Street location before, but this was our first time at the Admiral Street Bakery. We appreciated the off street parking and the spacious interior. The pastry cases were filled with delectable treats. We ordered coffees and resisted the sweet temptations, opting for a baguette instead. The coffees were very good and the baguette was delicious. I was a little surprised at the price of the baguette - $6 (Panera is $3.99 as a comparison). We had errands to run so we took our coffees to go, but the seating area at the Admiral Street location was spacious and seemed a lot more chill than the bustling Smith Street bakery. They probably won't win any awards for the pumpkin pie or apple pie, but they do have delicious cookies, coffee and cakes. The prices are definitely higher than many other bakeries in the greater Providence also. We bought a pumpkin pie which was around 20.00. Unfortunately it was more llike pumpkin mousse. We could barely taste any pumpkin. Canned pumpkin pie fill is so inexpensive that we were upset that it had so little actual pumpkin in the pumpkin pie. A pumpkin pumpkin pie should be a dark orange brownish color. The pie was light orange in color. The apple pie was ok, but the apples were too firm and it almost tasted like a no sugar added apple pie. Lasalle bakery, you can do better. read more

I Always pay with a debit card when I go to La Salle bakery. Each time I hand over my debit card, I remind them that it's illegal to charge a service fee on debit cards. Went in there. The other day told the girl please don't charge the service fee, she said, I understand when I got into my car checked the receipt she had charged the service fee. I went back inside, asked them to remove it, which they did. They gave me a new receipt. Two days later, guess what checked my bank account and they charged the service fee. Very nice please clean quiet there was two workers and I think a man is there. I was going to get the iced coffee for the coffee passport the cases for 2/3 away full but you could tell it was a holiday coming up because they have a lot of stuff I looked for a bit after I get my coffee and The girl was waiting on somebody else I told her to do that then I was really shocked because all I got was two peanut butter, M&M cookies and a scone and it cost me like $12 and change. They have a replacement for poor service, at least that's how I remember it but I wanted to get some fresh pastries for breakfast and it was on my path so here I was... What I got Croissant with guava and cheese was my favorite . Stopped at the Admiral St. Location for a spinach pie with cheese and pepperoni. Average size and Average taste with an above average price, $10 using a credit card. I get it, but I don't think there is any value for paying more when there are so many local bakeries around. Price seems high to me, but than again, I'm old enough to remember 5 cent pizza strips! So, final thought, products are always consistent and tasty; never had anything bad from their. If the price doesn't scare you, wirth a visit. read more

Great selection. Purchased a carrot cake cupcake, fruit tart, and croissant which were all very tasty. The reason I give 3 instead of 5 stars is because the cost for 3 items was $20 which is pretty pricey. Driving through the area I caught the sign for LaSalle Bakery. Since we have been meaning to give them a try, we stopped in. After all it was St. Joseph's day and we hadn't had a zeppole yet. We went for a regular, chocolate, and Irish cream flavor. Also picking up a couple of other treats before we left. The regular zeppole was really good, the chocolate was okay, and the Irish cream was not my favorite. We also got a peanut butter M&M cookie that got tossed as it was not very good either. I would consider coming back, but likely stick to the basics, as it seems that their baked goods seem like they can be a bit hit or miss. Their prices are also a bit higher than other bakeries. So it might be a while before I give them another try. read more

After visiting the Smith St location yesterday we decided to stop and the Admiral location this morning because they we were told they had more of a coffee selection. The lattes were amazing, pastries outstanding and the young lady that waited on us was exceptional. However the young lady who chose to wait on the gentleman behind us before us, was as rude as could be. If I was the owner, that young lady would no longer have a job. Because of that reason we will go elsewhere next time. I don't need to be passed over just because some guy is standing behind me. read more

Great bakery with some really yummy treats! It was pretty busy when we got here today, but the line moved really fast. The Traditional Zeppole's were delicious! I really like this place! First of all, everything is fresh and delicious. The breads and desserts make amazing eye candy. Yummy sandwiches and drinks are also available. The service is a perfect combination of modern and traditional. I stopped in this morning to get a treat for someone on my way to work. My time in and out was 13 minutes so definitely something to plan for. However this isn't an issue because they have mobile ordering on their own app. How amazing is that?! I'll definitely try that out. Here's my favorite part though... If you're not in a rush or feeling particularly introverted, their customer service will really make your day. They serve each customer in a personal way. While they try to get everyone served in good time, they don't rush you. The young man who waited on me deserves all the praise! He was so friendly and welcoming. He asked me if the dessert I was buying was a gift. I responded that it was. He wrapped it up in a sweet bow! It not only made me feel good, it it made a wonderful presentation for my friend and made their day also! That personal connection is often lost these days, but they have it here. Baguettes and breakfast sandwiches are delicious here!!! But they are ALWAYS understaffed and it's a consistent issue. There is usually 1 person at the counter, occasionally there is 1 more but she's only taking care of online orders. There are multiple people in the back but they only put out baked goods and don't assist the crowd that is waiting. That dynamic doesn't work, they need more help at the counter. I'll be looking for another bakery in the meantime. read more

I love this LaSalle just as much as the other location. Workers here are friendly and helpful. There is not much difference between the two locations--really depends on what's convenient for you. LaSalle's bakery is a staple in my life...yes, I said it. But come on...they have my absolute favorite cheese danish and the best muffins that'll beat out the chemical taste of any chain. I recently tried their raspberry bar and was not disappointed. In fact, I have tried probably everything in that case and it's all been delicious. My biggest downer for LaSalle is their prices. It's a little much. When I'm buying for a crowd I can't go here but it's okay to pick up a treat for myself every so often. read more

There are two locations for this bakery, just a few streets apart from each other, today we visited the location on Admiral Street because parking at this location is infinitely easier than finding a spot at the shop on Smith Street, but they carry the same items and the service is consistently good between the two locations. The have refrigerated cases that run the length of the store that boast a variety of delicious fresh baked goods, cookies, muffins, specialty pastries, croissants, full size cakes, sandwiches, calzones, pizza, and fresh baked bread all made on site and all tastier than the one next to it. I double dog dare you not to find something that you would enjoy here. They also have a small cold self service to go case that has soups, mini sandwiches, drinks, yogurt, salads, and their ready made pizza dough that you can select yourself and take to the register. Pro tip: They can heat any of the calzones, pizza, or sandwiches you buy from the cases and add oil or vinegar to them if you ask. La Salle Bakery is always a good choice Today was my first time back since my college days and luckily, the quality of their food has not decreased! I especially prefer this location to the one on Smith because their service here is usually fast and friendly. In terms of price, I'd say fair!! I ordered two spinach pies, one veggie calzone, one italian sandwich, two large coffees....and ended up paying around 30 something dollars for it all. Everything is pretty tasty, not incredibly amazing but certainly worth coming back for! Sandwiches can be warmed up and the bakery itself has a large selection of pastries for those with a sweet tooth. Ahem...get the ALMOND CROISSANT!! I definitely would've ordered one had they had any left Coffee is strong, a lot better than you'll find anywhere else given that it is neither burnt tasting nor watered down Lastly, with regards to how the bakery is handling COVID, I'd say pretty well! This used to be my favorite bakery before I moved out of state in April. Would've left 2 stars but I caught the service fee charge on the receipt and I did not appreciate not being aware of that first or else I would've just paid cash. Also would've tipped more in cash too. Food: Came here back in April and it was 8/10. Now rating is 2/10. They don't have syrups for coffee the coffee comes pre-flavored which 9 times out of 10 ends up tasting gross. I'm not sure what happened between April and now but i think it's ridiculous for a bakery/cafe to not have an espresso machine for a simple latte. The frappe I ordered was more water than milk so i ended up sipping on ice frappe? $9 for water frappe. Ontop of the fact they charge $8 for half a sandwich? Rather go to dunkin and pay $6 for their sandwiches. Service: 1/10 The person was friendly. Again no complaints here except for the fact that he sneakily added a $2.50 service fee without letting us know first. That sadly has deterred me from ever coming back to this or any other location. If there was a 20 star rating I would give it to you. I sent Alice a picture of the back drop that was going to be used at the party. And as you can see how the shoe and champagne flutes were incoperated into the cake was a great idea. Alice and the rest of the staff you guys out did yourselfs on this one it was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! One of my favs here in Rhode Island. They have a variety of pastries and some food items. They also have an option for coffee or chai. When I go I order cannolis and their vanilla chai. I like their pastries because they are not overwhelming sweet so you are able to try several things on their menu and not feel overwhelmed with a sugar rush. Came here on our way to hockey game at Providence College. This is no an ordinary bakery! It is a Mecca of delish food. They have quite a variety, and it all looks amazing. Last year I was in a jam for my sons birthday. The place we normally go to, Whites Bakery in Brockton MA, suddenly changed their policy on timeframes for custom made cakes. I wasn't last minute, but I guess they are too big or Corp now and have lost that family bakery shop feel. Bring in Lasalle. I was recommended to Lasalle by everyone I work with. Lindsay is a gem! She made an outstanding birthday cake for my son and even a smash cake complimentary. So I went back this year. This time the cake is for the boss, yes that's right fellas, you know who I'm talking about.....THE WIFE I would never not go to Whites for her......but......Lindsay is so freaking awesome and the last cake was so delicious.....ok ok so I'm rambling. I have to say this is quite disappointing. They charge more for a chocolate croissant than a regular croissant and the only different are these 3 chocolate chips. I have to say, I know this place cranks out business, but if you are going to pay these really high prices, I'd recommend Seven Stars, who are also expensive but at least the product is worth it.
