The baked goods are impeccable! Everything we've tried we loved. My favorite is the pizza slices and my hubby loves the brownies. We ALL love the fresh baked breads. The service is mostly efficient. 90% of the time. It does get super busy in there and I do find the other patrons can be extremely rude. That's not the businesses fault. Ok, I'm sticking with at least once a week reviews and today I chose the local bakery in town, Scialo's. This is pretty much a staple in town for the Riverside community. A go to spot for me also. On to the review! I walk in and greeted by a very polite person asking me what I would like and started off with a loaf of Italian bread sliced. They grab the loaf fly to the back and before you know they are right back and asked if I wanted anything else and I asked for some torpedo rolls and while they grabbed that I scooped up some Hermit cookies (my favorite thing here!). We square up at the counter with a fast polite credit card transaction and I'm out the door ( watch the step going in and out). Great little town bakery where most the locals can be seen chit chatting back and forth while ordering stuff. Great friendly vibe. Nice clean place and really awesome Hermit cookies! I walked in and took a deep breath and felt home! I grew up in Seekonk so Scialo's and consider it the standard of what an Italian bakery should be! Salty and airy breads, many concoctions of calzones, tomato pie with or without cheese in individual slices and more! Really disappointed with the 3 pastries I bought today. Not one dessert tasted good. Nothing was rich, buttery or sweet. Their chocolate frosted donut was a decent size and only $2, but the frosting was crunchy and not smooth and the dough itself tasted old. The cinnamon roll was pretty damn big but there's a reason why it was only $2.59 when they're normally $4+. It was just dry and needed more butter. They did put enough cinnamon though throughout the roll. Their blueberry danish was also large and $2.59, but might've been the best out of the 3. The blueberry compote itself had a weird taste but the little icing on it balanced that out. The dough itself was flaky and not bad. Everything came to only $7.70, but it was really worth about $4. The only reason why I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the prices and the staff was really friendly. Overall, the pastries fell flat and tasted dull. read more

This is a great spot for a lunch take home snack! It's been around awhile. The pastry selection and cakes are truly delicious! Family run, lots of parking. All of the staff I've met are really friendly and helpful. The cake display is in the middle of the bakery . I found myself watching go round and round ! I love there bakery pizza. Since the review, I've visited a couple of times and found this place to be average. The constancy of the products is unpredictable, and honestly had no discernible pattern to when they were fresh or old. However, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the coffee is generally good, though it's a gamble for constancy. read more

Stopped in mid morning Saturday to purchase zeppole. They were a bit more expensive than expected but I purchased four small ones. We were very disappointed to find them dry and stale tasting, and the cream was bland. I won't be back for anymore or anything els. read more

An abundance of yummy goodies to try here. Everything from cookies to cinnamon rolls to danish...its pastry-galore. I've tried many items from Scialo's and I've never been disappointed. When my parents visit from out-of-state, they insist on stopping here to pick up pizza dough. They simply can't find a better dough elsewhere! I really should give this bakery fiour stars except that this was my cheat item for a diet that I've been on for quite a while right now and I was really looking forward to a brownie. I ordered the turtle brownie and to have that caramel and crunch on top was just an incredible bonus. Unfortunately it didn't taste like a brownie but instead it had the texture of fudge. Now there's nothing wrong with fudge and it was absolutely delicious. It just wasn't the brownie that I was craving and I think they should change the name so that that is understood. Mike had the cookie sandwich which was two M&M cookies with cream frosting inside. That was something that just is a no brainer for him. He loved it and it was something that just looked homemade and delicious to me. Another reason I should not have given them five stars was because I went in to that bakery to get one item so that I could cheat on my diet and it took me forever to decide. Before we even got out of the car they had a sign on the window that said fresh peach pie. That just sounds so amazing. When we went inside everything looked delicious. Also they had such a tremendous selection including savory items There was a sign on the door that said only four people at a time which was nice they also require masks which made me feel more comfortable, the people working there were all wearing masks and wearing them appropriately. Tried their pizza and pastries. The pizza is okay, but I prefer Crugnale's. The brownies are excellent. The other pastries did not have much flavor at all, and I probably got 8 different kinds since I had never been there before. Their cannolis have a strange flavor, almost like an irish cream hint to their filling, so I wasn't a fan of that. Overall, they have a lot to choose from which is a plus, so if you are going to a party of need to bring something to the office, the appearance of their pastries will definitely impress. My family and I go every Sunday for our brunch pickup(Sunday are when we travel so we always pickup a few things for the road!) every single calzone is tasty ask to have it heated up. The brownies are those thick almost fudge like ones which are my fav and the pizza strips are perfect. Never too much seasoning, never over kill with there sauce and fluffy dough. My absolute favorite thing there is the spinach feta croissant. I've had at least 15 different items here never once didn't I love it! In my opinion one of the best bakeries of all time in Rhode Island! I've been going to Scialo's since I was a kid and nothing beats the amazing treats they have in store with every visit. Their pastries are perfect for any occasion and deliciously sweet. Their bakery pizza is not to be beat, it is some of the best in the state, and its never a party without a couple boxes of it. Had some really good pizza strips here! Had the ones with just sauce and some with cheese. Their wasn't huge globs of cheese but just enough sprinkled on. (P.s. After picking up coffee across the street, came here to pick up some bread. However, I left w/o any bread. They apparently do not bake whole wheat or rye bread here :( If you like plain white flour (probably enriched) bread and pastries then this place is for you. If you are looking for 'healthy' gluten, then go elsewhere. read more

Ordered a cake for my step-mother's 50th birthday. The whole family complimented how delicious it was. Not too sweet, and the perfect amount of buttercream frosting.
