I am a little hesitant to let y'all know about this place - afraid it will become Snows and you won't be able to get in! But Joey deserves the praise and the customers so I wont keep it to myself. Real Texas BBQ - done right and smoked perfectly. The brisket and sausage were on my plate this last go 'round and Joey knows his way around the pit. Both were seasoned and smoked beautifully. The sides were top notch as well. You don't need any sauce but if that is your thing his regular sauce and mustard jalapeño sauce are nice compliments to the main event if that is your thing. I live in Austin and can throw a stone and hit several excellent BBQ joints, but I am telling you the drive is worth it no matter where you are coming from. A really excellent experience and the food did not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and check it out before the lines get to be too long. Once word leaks out (and it was recently in Texas Monthly) you may experience a wait - one that will be worth it.

Tri Tip cooked to perfection. very tender

I try to come here as often as i can. Joey Victorian is a great pitmaster and he and Nathan and Kelli are even greater people. I believe i've had one of everything they serve except the rib sandwich and its all so good. Gonna miss this location but looking forward to the EaDo location.

New BBQ pop up in the area that is a must try. I got the Barbaque baker and it was just awesome! No skimping on the meat here!

We bought two meat plates and the BBQ potato. The potato was by far the best meal of the day. Nailed it. Portion sizes were great overall! The meat plate BBQ was alright. The issue we had was with the sides. I had mac and cheese and the potato salad. I will say, everything felt and tasted homemade. However, I feel like the chef is trying a little too hard to get authentic flavors. Let the BBQ be the star and give us some old-fashioned mustard potato salad and normal mac. Both of my sides tasted strange. They had a weird aftertaste, kind of sour or old, not sure. I never throw out food, but I didn't take the leftovers with me. My last critique is the actual BBQ sauce. It also tasted original and homemade but seemed to be trying too hard to be different. It almost felt like a tangy, sweet salsa or puree. Keep it simple, or perhaps offer choices between a general sweet traditional BBQ sauce and your homemade version. Giving it 4 stars until we visit and try again.

And while the other one is great and fabulous, this one is one star better. A huge selection of baked goods, coffee, decor, clothing, drinks and more. The Kissing Pig Cafe has so many food options, too! Mrs. K. has not had a kolache in years and she's now pescatarian which presents certain challenges. It would be awesome if they had some kolaches with just cheese or were sweet, so while I had one with ham and cheese and one with sausage in cheese, she was at least able to enjoy a strawberry and cream danish as well as the always awesome poppyseed kolache. It's possible that a pecan square was purchased for later consumption, too. The self-serve coffee was great and we enjoyed all of this inside at a comfortable table. And after that, more shopping. So much great stuff to choose from here and very, very clean restrooms. If you're overwhelmed by that massive baked goods counter, just ask for recommendations. They'll get you sorted for sure! Excellent selection of kolaches and klobasneky. You can also buy sandwiches. Minus: as on previous visits, I have found that they are often out of poppyseed and prune kolaches. Not the servers' fault but you would think management would be keen to bake more of what sells most. Then there are the sandwiches. If you want pork, you'll get value. But if you want brisket, look out! I've never seen a more miserly portion offered for 13 dollars. I understand that brisket is expensive now. But I still get it at various restaurants and have to say that it was a five dollar sandwich for thirteen bucks. Additionally, the sandwich maker apparently does not know what and order for "moist" brisket means. Mine proved rather dry.
