They very quickly imported a sapphire for me that was exactly the cornflower color I was looking for to replace the center diamond in my antique ring. The original diamond was then used to make a beautiful simple pendant on a custom chain. The work was completed much faster than expected (even faster than it was promised to me) and the quality was excellent. I wouldn't have turned over this very treasured ring to just anyone and I'm very happy I trusted Victor's to do this custom work. I've gone to Victor's for over 20 years now. This is the only place I will ever get my watches fixed. He is careful not to scratch up the backs while he takes them off to change the batteries. A long time ago, I had a watch that I bought from Macys, and it stopped after a month. Took it back to them, and they supposedly fixed it. After another month, it stopped again. After 3 unsuccesful attempts to have Macys fix it, I took it to Victor and he fixed it right the first time and it has worked ever since. I will never go anywhere else. I also bought my husband's 20 year anniversary replacement wedding ring here (gosh that was almost 8 years ago). And I've bought several pieces of jewelry here. The nice thing about Victor (and his lovely wife Emma) is they are very accomodating and take care of you. If you buy anything from here, they will clean, adjust and repair your item no-charge. You know that feeling when people know your name, they're happy to see you, and you know they give you a special value just for you? That's the feeling I get when I go to Victor's. This is a family that has been doing jewelry for hundreds of years and I trust them. I have paid quite a bit of money to them too, from Hawaiian bracelets, to pieces off their shelves, to custom pieces, to repairs. I consider these guys "my" jeweler. The price is always fair and the integrity is top. One time, there was a mistake. It was my fault actually but I didn't think it was at the time, and there was no way to prove it. Instead of trying to tell me I was wrong, Victor ate the cost of repairing it. After studying gemology later, I gasped that 'Oh my God, that was actually my fault,' not Victor's. He told me, 'I know, but you wouldn't have understood at that time, so I just ate it.' Who does that!? This family is just a great family to be aligned with. I have been going to Victors for around 30 years. I love him. I love his style, a mixture of new, elegant, simple, yet also can be old kine classic. He is extremely creative. I brought black scored kukui nuts to him with an idea for a necklace on a gold chain with matching earrings. The piece is fabulous, one of a kind and totally Hawai'i. I have had him making other pieces for me and I've bought pieces he's had on display. His prices are reasonable. My engagement ring is differently shaped, and unfortunately the jewelry company does not offer a matching band. Oh well! My fiance and I were aiming to get a matching band custom made on island. What a quest! When we were out and about, we'd stop by random jewelry stores to stop and ask if they could custom make. No success. Probably because the jewelry stores did not make stuff in house. I finally stumbled upon a jeweler downtown who does make custom jewelry (thanks to yelp reviews!). After seeing pictures of the ring, he did not think he would be able to, but he referred us to Victor. Thank goodness! The search was over! I did not want to turn to the mainland for our search! At our first meeting with Victor and his partner, we were impressed with his vision of designing and making the matching wedding band. The price was very reasonable too! I had a mental cutoff for the price - if too costly I was planning to just wear a cheap-o non-matching band on my other ring finger. Anyway we decided to work with Victor. I recently picked up the wedding band with my engagement ring. Beautifully and wonderfully done! I'm already envisioning an add-on for our 5th or 10th wedding anniversary. Victor is great! He does his own work in the shop- he can design or fix jewelry. I am having them create a custom tourmaline ring for me now. Its not often I go to a jewelry store and get to interface directly with the man doing the design himself- usually im lost in the 'cookie cutter' rings that everyone has. I wanted something different, and they ordered the stone for me and even let me see if i liked the color first- no charge. I am very happy with Victor's and will continue to order custom made pieces from him. Its a jewel this store.
