Called first, Rick told us to come on in and without an appt set to work immediately changing battery and sizing straps. Super affordable too. If you need a watch or clock repaired, this is where you want to go. I have a clock that has consistently run slow - after a week or so, it would be about 25 minutes behind. And I put up with it for years! It finally just stopped working, despite fresh batteries. I figured it probably needed a new mechanism - it wasn't a fancy movement (sorry if I foul up the horology terms - points for knowing the word horology, at least?), but I knew it was more than I wanted to try to DIY. I messaged Rick on Facebook to see whether he was still open with COVID-19 (this was in between shutdowns on island). He replied yes, so I brought it in, and he confirmed it probably needed replacing, quoted me about $20, and said it would be done within the week. It was - in fact, it was finished faster than I expected and for less money! I would have had it back in my home even sooner, but a water main break out front shut down the building for a few days. My beautiful clock is back up on the wall, running like a champ! Parking is under the building (same building as a veterinarian), and I was always able to find a spot against the back wall. You can take the elevator or stairs; his shop is to your left as you exit the elevator. I found this reliable watch and clock service in Hawaii Kai after being informed by another repair shop that they don't repair clocks. I brought several clocks that stopped working. The shop replaced the mechanism on the back within a few days and contacted me that the clocks were ready for pickup. Parking is convenient and free. Check their hours of operation. I think I emailed and recieved a note that he had too much work to take on new jobs. Anyway, he is back up and running. As a 3-4 year old, I used to ride bike in their parking garage and the JAIMS building next door...and Rick's shop has been here for over 28 years!!! My goodness... Went in to replace the band on my Ulysse Nardin, hoping W&C would have a comparable leather one in stock. Not only did Rick have one, but the replacement looked even better! I had a backup (decades-old) Seiko with me which needed some repair work on a missing band pin...and Rick had that in stock as well! He charged me $20 (!!!) for the replacement band and said the pin was free. I told him, "No way! What about labor?! A little shop thats been here for ages. I remember my old man coming through for his watch services back in the day. Affordable and honest prices for his work. Took my automatic field watch I received as a gift from the Bundeswehr friends I've had in Germany upon leaving work there. Got my quote which was way better than everyone else on island with the whole price gouging trend going on these days with certain businesses. He meticulously looked through the watch and determined that I needed some cleaning and oiling on the gears, which was surprising as the watch has been through all kinds of weather and rough handled situations. I was in search of a reputable and very skilled horologist on Oahu and was really at a loss at the small selection they had here. This is where Rick comes in however, as he and his business offer a very customer friendly and holistic approach to repairing watches. I will admit, I have visited other shops but my requests for specific service often resulted in a "how do you know that's the issue?" or "We don't have parts for that." right off the bat during my interactions with other shops. After scouring reviews on here, I found that WCSR was overall positive and decided to give it a try and I am glad I did. I brought in three watches that I have collected from the former Soviet Union that I have been trying to get looked at and repaired. Shops i've visited and spoken with stated that they didnt have the parts for it without attempting to look at the mechanics. Others said that it wasn't worth fixing due to the nature of Soviet movements, but Rick took a look and instantly deduced that a watch wasn't working due to a piece of debris lodged in the teeth. He removed it and once again it is operational, he also saw that the three were running fast and decided to demagnetize and tweak the mechanics to make it more accurate to time. All this for a reasonable $26.70. The simple fact that he listened and did what I requested and on top of that, did additional analysis on the watches which showed additional errors that he also corrected, showed me that he truly cares about his craft and the customers that visit him. I've been here twice in the last few months and have had three batteries replaced in three different watches (Kate Spade, Michael Kors and then when I felt comfortable, I came back with my Burberry) and each time the cost was affordable, service was fast and friendly. I was actually on my way in when the owner was leaving to take a break and he postponed his break to help me and went back into the shop. He also asked me if my watch had been dead long.. admittedly, yes, probably a year or so. He told me he could tell because battery acid was starting to leak! Christian did an amazing work on my grandfather clock from years before my time. Not only he fine-tuned the mechanism but did a commendable job to repair the damaged wooden base of the clock. We were fortunate to have Christian repair our grandfather. He is a very busy man. I was going to take my Koa wall clock to another repair place closer to my home in Waipahu but when I read the review they had I decided to drive to Hawaii Kai. I went this past Saturday and the repairman said it will be done on Monday. When I mentioned that I'll come next week Saturday to pick it up, as I live in Waipahu he fixed it within 10 minutes. Not only did he fix it right away he charged me only about a third of what the old Clock Shop that was by Ala Moana charged me 20 years ago for a similar clock that I had. From now I'll take all of my clocks and watches there for repairs or just for a new battery. It's good to find a good old fashion and honest company to deal with. read more

I took my husband's Hamilton automatic watch in to have it looked at since it wasn't working properly. I left the watch with Rick and was told I would get a call when he knew what was wrong with it. I got a call a couple of days later from Rick and he said I can pick up the watch because there's nothing wrong with it!!! He had put it on a machine that continuously moves the watch to see if it's not working due to underuse. Sure enough that was the problem! Guess my husband needs to wear his watch more often!! And get this, Rick didn't even charge for this service!! You can tell he truly knows his stuff and is passionate about his work. A couple of weeks later I took my watch for a battery replacement. He didn't have the battery in stock but ordered it right away and called for 2 days later to let me know it was in. I took my watch and he changed the battery on the spot. Only charged $8!!! here's a hidden gem in hawaii kai. sorry can't remember the guys name but he is great at watche service and repair, if you have a cheapy or an expensive even older watch he's your man, fast service and well done. Also a cool store just to go into and look at the clocks he's got going on in there, he does all the work on my rolexes and always keeps the back open so when you come in he shows you what he's done and to verify that it is indeed your watch. I recently got my president serviced, $188 for factory service, disassemble, cleaned, lubricated and replaced the mainspring (common on older rolexes) have always and will keep returning here for all my watch needs. ps just found his receipt, his name is Rick read more
