When I started going there Jess C. did my Color Jess C. had a lot of competition from tenured experts But her growth and consistency is what won me over Jess is very talented , caring , she has a great eye and is a great listener. She has been doing everything for me including cut And as you can see I have thick hair She is very confident in her abilities and she is definitely in control . I am a very fussy client and I have never been dissatisfied with her in any way . I highly recommend her And I can truly relax and enjoy my time in the chair. I am there a lot . She has always been accommodating with appts which is just great . I have really never been able to say this about any of my Stylists . So this is a big compliment . Alma the owner was unbelievable during Covid making my color available to me so I could do it at home . She was so supportive and wonderful. Alma at this point you Deep down know you guys ruined my hair! You saw my hair that they were messed up when I left your salon thrice in your stylists making efforts to fix it! You stayed quite as a mouse and didn't utter a word abs now you are claiming you wanted to help. I gave you guys three chances to help! Fourth time it was you who said " at this point we can not do much!" On top if that Elma told me to buy the fake hair purple clip ons from Amazon to use in my hair to get the look!! I couldn't believe she was suggesting me that after all I went through at her salon!! Yes I am crying yet again as I am typing this and regretting my visits to your salon! Yes my hair were so bad within two weeks that I had to cut my hair with heavy heart! You were blankly rude and offered no help yo resolve! Jessi ( who introduced herself as "I'm Colombian and we have beautiful hair") said I have to see my hair in the day light when I said all three times I DO NOT SEE COLOR PURPLE streaks what I asked her for! You messed up! Admit it! If you couldn't do it what I asked for then at least you could have told me and saved me the hassle plus my hair! It's a shame that you are cheating people like this! I felt horrible, angry, and helpless. You didn't reach out with your wonderful help until I posted this review! I have been coloring my hair for the last 15 years so please don't teach me your fake lesson as I know my hair well! Never had this type of experience ever before! Too bad you don't like your consumers telling the real stories of their experiences! The only person here needing luck is you if you will not change your service quality and customer service! I moved to NJ from Fl about 1 year ago and had been struggling to find "my" hair place. The last time I got a cut and color (from a different salon), I ended up with an unblended ombre and red near my roots which I didn't want at all. A few months later, a coworker recommended StaYnd to me, and specifically Alma. So thankful she did!! Alma looked at the picture I showed and turned my hair into something even better! I usually come in for waxing and nails, but came in for a haircut since my stylist of 20+ years retired (I used to drive 30 minutes to her salon). I had not been inside for over a year and was really impressed by their COVID safety set up. Lots of space and plexiglass divided every station. There were only 2 other clients that I could see. I came from California where I hade a wonderful hair salon. Since I stayed here at my daughter, decided to look for a good hair cut salon. I looked at 5 stars this salon had and called for an appointment. The person behind the phone insisted that only one person is available that's Jessica. I accepted because i guessed every one in this salon must have 5 stars unfortunately the lady was very unprofessional and made my hair like a crazy. I was looking to her what she is doing? And finally she said you are done? I said what is this? And a guy working there came and touched up a little and started teaching Ms Jessica how to cut. ?? I wish they trained their staff before making some hair cut stupidly. Not sure what to do? Should I pay to another salon to make my hair good? Who knows how other salon will be? It's unusual to find a spot that really focuses on making clients walk out feeling better than when they walked in. I usually visit Jessi C. or Alma (the owner), who are both fantastic, and really take the time to ask questions and listen to what it is you're looking for. But every single person there seems great- truly interested in making sure their clients have a good, positive experience. Very welcoming, low-key, warm and friendly vibe. To be honest, I called a few other salons first looking for a somewhat last minute Saturday appointment for a cut and color (based on recommendations from others) and none of them could take me. I finally called StaYnd and they had only one opening with Trish because of a cancellation, I snagged it. Having just moved into the area from NYC I didn't know what to expect and was a bit nervous. Hands down the best cut I've had in years (including multiple city salons) and the color was perfect. She even blended in some old highlights I was thinking of ditching so that they looked natural again. Not only that, but everyone was professional, I barely waited even 5 minutes, and Trish was truly a joy to talk to. I left with soft, shiny, bouncy hair and they even gave me a new customer discount that they didn't tell me about over the phone when they quoted my price. Such a kind surprise. If you are looking for appearances, this is not your salon. It's small and BUSY and not at all fancy. I don't care about appearances anymore, however. I've had enough of mediocre Stylists at supposedly high end salons. It's clean, comfortable, efficient and they served up a strong cup of coffee to boot. I absolutely recommend this place. Alma did an amazing job with my hair, and I couldn't be more grateful. I had an upcoming event, and I got my hair done on a Thursday at a salon in Colonia, but the girl didn't do what I asked. Alma took me in Friday, and fixed my hair. I found Staynd Salon through an Internet search and was so glad that I did. Over Thanksgiving 2015 while visiting from California, I had a last minute business appointment and needed a blowout. Stanyd was one of the only places open on Sunday and also offered a special discount for blowouts on that day. Jessica did a wonderful job on my hair which is a few inches below chin length. And also used a toner after the shampoo that made my existing highlights really pop. So lucky to have stumbled upon this place. Altogether, a great experience, would definitely use them again and in the aftermath, am getting my hair blown out at home more often. read more

However, the last time I came in to get my eyebrows and "mustache" waxed, I had to sit in a chair because the owners had rented out the basement room with the table. After my review I decided to call the salon and speak to Alma the owner because I wanted to talk to them about everything. I only spoke to Alma directly and we addressed what I wrote in my previous review. I sent her pictures of my hair and my scalp so she could see what happened. Alma told me she could fix the cut for me and offered to see me in person to decide what could be done about the color and assess the damage to my hair. We talked about what happened with Jessi and as the owner she did a great job of seeing my point of view and not just from the salons perspective. Alma made it very clear she wants to try to fix my hair so I can feel comfortable enough to wear it down. Although I am still a hurt by my previous experience and leaving with my hair like that, I am happy with Alma's attentiveness to fix my hair and make things right with me. I will be going back to see her to see what can be done with my hair soon. read more

Last year while talking to a friend I learned that she was getting her hair blown out on a regular basis. I had been struggling with my hair for some time - it began going grey in my 20's and I gave up on color some time ago, the texture had become a bit frizzy and it gets a bit yellow. I am about as low maintenance as can be, but I always liked how my hair looks after it has been cut and blown out. I heard that StaYnd was open on Sundays so I made an appointment to try it out and wound up with Jessica Springer. Lucky me! She made my hair look great, we clicked, and she has been taking care of my hair ever since. StaYnd has blowout packages which help make weekly visits affordable. I get a glaze every six weeks or so to help keep the the white bright, and every week I look forward to a new do and hearing what Jessica has been up to. read more

This small salon has a great vibe to it with fantastic stylists and front staff that greet you and make you feel included and at home. On top of all this it is located in a charming area of Maplewood with shops, eateries and a Starbucks within steps. My favorite stylist is Trish. With every cut I get from her I receive rave reviews. I have medium/long hair and my most recent hair stylist in the City, while lovely, was texturing (razoring) and layering my hair in a way that just wasn't my style. Its taken a while to grow out the last cut, and Jessica C. took my preferences into consideration by giving me a clean and slightly long-layered cut. I booked Alma and her team to do bridal hair and makeup for our wedding on 8/22. What an AMAZING job!! All of the bridesmaids, the mother of the bride, the mother of the groom, and our little flower girl were thrilled with how their hair and makeup came out. Trish is a very talented makeup artist - she made up 8 women in rapid succession and everyone looked completely flawless. As the bride, I was thrilled with how my hair and makeup came out. I was really nervous since my hair can be a but unpredictable and usually don't like to get my makeup done. However, Alma is an expert and I just thought everything came out so perfect. I looked like myself...just better :) One of my bridesmaids even commented that she liked the way her hair/makeup came out at my wedding better than at her own!
