I was initially excited upon entering this store. I had drove by my whole childhood and never entered. It was cool to see all the dvds they had. The old woman behind the counter however, was not nice. She commented that I look very skinny and that everyone must be jealous of me. She pretended to eat the air and said all I eat is air. I have for most of my life and to this day struggles with an eating disorder. This woman then proceeded to chase me out of the store and try to talk to me, after I made it clear I didn't want to even see her, let alone speak to her. First off, the owner Gina was very nice at first. I was looking for used DVD's. She showed me where they were in the store. They had a huge section. I asked what the prices were. She would not give me any prices. She just told me to gather what I wanted. I asked her multiple times for prices and she did not tell me prices. Once I got the DVDs I wanted to purchase, I went to the counter and she said for me to pick out the price I was willing to pay. When I told her the price I was willing to pay, her attitude changed very quickly and told me that somebody else would just buy the DVDs basically saying my prices that I was willing to pay weren't enough. What's the point of all this? If you have a set price on yourDVDs, just let the customers know. I have been buying used DVDs between $2-4 dollars. She wanted $5 a DVD. Which is not unrealistic. I ended up purchasing 4 DVDs for $20. As I said, she just seemed really pushy about prices. There were also a couple of other customers in the store and she did the same thing. Was pressuring them to spend more money. I will not be going back. Definitely not a good experience. read more

I mean, RE sign me up, because I used to be a regular customer when I lived in the area going back almost 30 years! And here we are today, John as nice as ever and Gina still calling people from the wait list and telling them their rental is ready for pick up. This kind of customer service (and prices) hardly exists anymore, you'll feel like you e gone back in the Hot Tub Time Machine, but no need to pinch yourself, it's not a dream. There really is a place still around to experience the thrill of walking down the aisles and choosing a dvd/Blu-ray (even vhs), there really is a place that has a fantastic selection for a fantastic price and rental period (5 days, but since I drive in from out of town she gives me a week!) and a wonderful mom and pops feel. If you like to haggle, this is the place for you. I don't, so I'm not a big fan. I visited this place for the first time the other day. When I walked in and asked the gentleman at the front counter - the one dozing-off in his chair - what was for rent and what was for sale, he responded with, "She'll help you." He then pointed to a woman at the back of the store. She immediately walked over to assist me and was extremely nice, but her pricing was sketchy. There's a sign in the front window and one behind the counter that says, "5 DVDs for $12." These are used DVDs we're talking about, of course. However, when I approached the register with 3 DVDs and 1 BluRay, she wanted to charge me $5 for each DVD and $10 for the BluRay. $25? When I questioned this, she asked me, "How much do you want to pay?" What?!?! How much does anybody WANT to pay? After going back and forth with her, swapping-out the BluRay for another DVD, pointing-out the two signs, and offering to buy a 5th DVD assuming this was the only way to qualify for the deal, I paid her $12 for just 4 DVDs. This was still more than advertised... but at that point, I just wanted to leave. And maybe that's the point: wear down the customer, who then pays more than they want to just so they can get the hell out of there. read more

I love coming to video depot!!! I have been coming here since I was a little boy. They have an amazing selection of classic films, most of which you can't get on Netflix or Hulu. I missed the days of going out and picking movies to watch and getting a couple bags of popcorn. When I moved back here from the valley and went to smart and final I saw that they were still in business. I rushed in to open an account. Gina has been great!! Video Depot is the ultimate mom and pop rental store. They have survived 4 Blockbusters opening up within a mile radius, Hollywood Video, and Netflix over the years, and mark my words...they will even survive Redbox. And I will tell you why. You cannot beat customer service at a modest price ($3 a DVD) in a world now almost void of customer service. Not only is the owner, Mrs. Lee, the nicest lady in the world, but she has had some very enthusiastic, movie aficionado staff over the years. My favorite staffer they have there is Bryan. The man is a movie guru. He knows every movie, every context, every scene, every performance. He knows his stuff. Just trust me, because I am a movie nut also and I know I will never come close to his knowledge and taste for movies. Every movie he has ever recommended me to rent has been awesome. Back in the day when I used to live close by, I would even have him pull movies off the shelf for me when he thought I would like it. They always have the latest release, and even if they don't, if you just mention it to Mrs. Lee, she'll quickly write it down and go out and get it. leave her your number and she'll let you know when she has it.
