Came to this restaurant with my fiancé hoping to taste the food and reserve a private room for our rehearsal dinner since the reviews were so good. Both our foods came out very salty, so they remade it for us. My food came back cold and dry and my finance's steak came back medium rare (he ordered medium well). I ended up eating mine while we waited for his food to be cooked more. They brought back a smaller piece of steak that was still medium. He ended up eating it anyways because we didn't want to waste more food. Disappointed in the portion sizes and quality of food overall. The manager made it right and did not charge us for the meals. We had a great experience at Vidrio last night. Had 6pm reservations and were a little late, but they took us with no problem. Requested a hightop table in the bar area for drinks and appetizers. The menu has plenty to offer for all different types of foodies. We order 4 different small plates and it was enough for 3 people. The charred octopus was FANTASTIC. Octopus can be extremely hard to get tender and this was by far one of the most tender pieces of octopus I have had. The Lima beans that were paired with it were also super tasty. The beef tartare was delicious also. Paired with a strong mustard and crispy bread, delish! Overall it was a great dining experience. I ate here for the first time last night with a friend and was very impressed. We were 15 mins early for our reservation but they already had our table ready. We started with a meat and cheese plate that was simply delicious and included a sort of jam, some bread, grapes, and a couple of pickles. The meat and cheese were nicely room temperature (rather than cold) and I appreciated the smoothness of the cheese. I also got the Kast Away cocktail which was quite tasty with a beautiful representation and my friend got a glass of red wine. For dinner I had the lamb. It was incredibly tender and just fell off the bone. The seasoning was a little too heavy on the lamb but it was still good. My friend got the fettuccine which she loved and we shared an order of potatoes. I also want to give a shout out to our waiter Akiro because he was really nice and professional. Great service. In terms of atmosphere, there was a good ambiance but the seats are a little close together so I could hear other parties conversing. Amazing ambiance, and our server was impeccable. And I have to put in a vote for the Stuffed Piquillo Peppers being the best small plate I have ever had. The server who brought out the plate was actually genuinely excited about the peppers and described it to us in detail: small mild peppers filled with a mixture of mushrooms, Grana Padano cheese and a parsley and bread crumb mixture covered in a tomato 'bolognese' that used the mushroom mixture to give it a 'meaty' taste but still be vegetarian. (Note all of this was explained to us with the same level of excitement as a hobbyist explaining his latest toy.) I honestly have never seen a server excited to serve a dish before--and really, he was absolutely right: the mushroom and tomato sauce covering the mild peppers and mushroom filling was just to absolutely die for. My partner had a glass of their pinot noir- which was on tap, along with about 30 other on tap wine options- and I tried the paridisi and the Oaxaca flora (cocktails), both were a bit sweet but they were the right strength and had a nice balance of flavors. Then for the tapas, we ordered the cauliflower- very decadent and creamy, the burrata- decent, the charred onion made it, but it needed a little something else, the mushroom polenta- very creamy and delicious and also a HUGE portion, and the braised pork belly- this dish was so good that my partner ordered a second one right after we finished. That good. The service was excellent (shout out to our waiter, Christian) and the ambiance is hip and chic. I've been to Vidrio a handful of times, and it's always a solid dining experience. I docked one star because it's quite pricey and the service was a bit off the last time I went. It doesn't make it to my list of favorite/regular restaurants, but it's a good spot for an occasional or special night out. Charcuterie Board 3/5 - I wish when our server brought out our charcuterie board that they would have explained what was what on it. It looked picture perfect but I also like to know what I'm eating. I didn't love the cheeses, but I'm a little less adventurous with cheeses than some other people. Burrata 4/5 - The burrata was really fresh and light and worked perfectly with the tomatoes. I'm not 100% sure how burrata is usually served, but I wish it came with some toasted bread. Cauliflower Cacio E Pepe 5/5 - One of my favs! The cauliflower was cooked perfectly and went great with the sauce. It was creamy and savory. Hand-cut Fettuccine 5/5 - Fetteccuine was al dente and the truffle butter sauce was amazing! Braised Pork Belly 3/5 - This dish is a bit tough to share, as it was difficult to cut. The carrot puree didn't have much flavor. Service 3/5 - It was okay, but not my cup of tea. When our server asked us what we wanted to drink, everyone at my table ordered alcohol but I decided to stick with water and our waiter looked at me and said "are you okay?!?" -- I'm sure he didn't mean it but it felt judgemental and I didn't like being put on the spot like that. All the tables around us got complimentary bread, but we did not. I'm not sure if you have to ask for it? 4/5 Atmosphere - when you walk into Vidrio, there is definitely a wow factor! Vidrio is amazing, and I can't believe it took me so long to try it! It's a great place for mediterranean small plates. Usually mediterranean usually means more greek/middle eastern, but this menu also includes a lot of Spanish options (LOVE). The atmosphere and decor is really cool and interesting. On one giant wall, it's covered in different glass bowl-like sculptures. I'm not really sure how to describe the other features, but it's very cool. My partner had a wine flight, which came with tasting notes. He seemed to enjoy it. I, meanwhile, had a cocktail, which I also enjoyed. We split about 4 dishes. We probably would've been fine with 3, but it's hard to choose. We had the steak tartare (which partner says is the best steak tartare he's ever had), black / squid ink risotto, salmon belly gravlax (probably my favorite -- the salmon was very fresh and the creme fraiche was nice) , and the mission fig flatbread (light pizza). We had a reservation, but it seemed like the wait wouldn't have been bad otherwise. This restaurant has been on my bucket list for such a long time after I stumbled across photos of it online and it's even more breathtaking in person. We made reservations Friday night for a girls night and were seated in this really cool loft area fitted with huge projectors on each wall displaying trippy art/videos. The sky-high ceilings, gorgeous art and sculptures make you feel more like you're in a museum than a restaurant and it's definitely one of the most unique restaurants I've been in. We started off the night with a few cocktails, I went with the Kast Away which was fruity and delicious. For dinner, we decided to do it tapas style and split a ton of small plates, breakdown of each dish below: Fettuccine 10/10. Topped with bacon, crispy breadcrumbs and a runny egg, I mean does it get any better? The noodles were perfection. The sauce was creamy, savory and everything you'd want in an alfredo. Mussels 15/10. I think it's important to note that I absolutely hate mussels, never liked them. Turns out, this was my absolute favorite dish of the night. The mussels are out of the shell, served with crackers on the side. and marinated in what I can only describe as HEAVEN. Once the mussels were gone, I found myself just going straight in with a spoon and lapping up the remaining sauce like it was soup. Burrata 1/10. Burrata is a staple in our household, we have it at least once a week so we were excited to try burrata "outside". Unfortunately, we found this dish very flat and boring. The burrata was served on a bed of dressed greens and veggies...and that was it. No olive oil, maybe even balsamic vinegar, or bread, it just needed something to liven it up. Cornbread 15/10. This cornbread was perfection. A crispy crust on the edge with an incredibly moist and crumbly interior. Topped with cheese, a healthy dollop of truffle butter I mean, you can't go wrong. Seawater potatoes 10/10. What looked like the most bland bowl of boiled potatoes turned out to be super flavorful and delicious. The potatoes were so fluffy on the inside, and somehow, without having any seasonings on them, were actually really flavorful on the inside. They were topped with a delicious, but VERY potent, garlic aioli. Mushroom bolognese 5/10. Heard this was highly recommended although I'm not sure why. It was just okay. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the sauce was tasty, but really nothing spectacular. Chocolate tart 10/10. Not being dessert people at all, we all enjoyed this dessert so much. Not only was it plated beautifully with the cutest, tiny, macarons, but it tasted just as good as it looked. The chocolate was delicious, slightly bitter like dark chocolate, which paired perfectly with the ice cream on the side. The service was also spectacular. Avery, our waitress, is a gem and a true class act! A few dishes took a little longer than expected, but she handled it perfectly and so professionally. She was friendly, personable and made our first girls night out in years truly special. We also got to meet the manager, who brought out our dessert which was on the house because of the wait. A friend and I went to Vidrio to celebrate my birthday and we're overwhelmingly impressed! we had the Moroccan beef skewers, Burrata salad, seared Haloumi, the pork belly, and Pannacotta. Lex was excellent in customer service, telling us all about the ingredients and making recommendations about what we should eat that were all spot on! his passion for food really made engaging with him an awesome experience, because he was excited over every dish too! the dessert we had, we told him to pick, and we LOVED it! The inside of the restaurant is so nice, wasn't overly crowded, and had super comfortable chairs so if you are looking for a nicer dinner experience it's perfect. 1000% recommend what I think is one of the best spots in Raleigh. Vidrio was incredible. When we arrived, the door was opened for us to enter and made it a special evening from the start (it was our anniversary as well). We were seated in the upper deck looking over the main dining hall, which was beautiful, and ordered our drinks. The server was very nice (she smelled a little like smoke, though...) and was attentive - but not too much. The pink ribbon martini was WAY too good, I could have easily had more than one, and my husband had the house bartender's First Friday cocktail competition entry - some whiskey drink with little merengues on top. I hate whiskey, and I could have drank his entire drink as well! Once the first dish came out (charred octopus) and we tried it, we knew this caliber of food was on a whole new level. The textures, the consistency, the flavors; they all sang together in an incredibly beautiful and delectable symphony. The uniqueness was off the charts, which is what I always look for when trying new restaurants. From the smokiness in the chorizo sauce (charred octopus) and the bacon creme (fettuccini), to the detail they took to remove the crust on the chocolate cake before finishing it in Dutch cocoa powder, adding flecks of phyllo dough to the ice cream and adding cinnamon to the beef skewers, we were blown away. The part that suck is if you have a party of more than 8 you will get only one bill. We didn't learn this until the end. We decided to come here because I happened to see Vidrio's TRW menu and it sounded decent. Unfortunately, TRW was over but lucky for us, a lot of the items are offered on their regular menu. We made the mistake of coming on a Friday night without a reservation so it was PACKED. We ended up just sitting at a table in the bar area (full menu) and it was a definitely loud.. but it's a bar so that goes without saying. The beef skewers are legit--totally lived up to the yelp hype! I should've ordered two orders of the skewers, they were so delicious. My husband said the braised pork belly was also perfect, and he cleaned the plate. My Bolognese was interesting--the "pappardelle" pasta was very thin for some reason..reminded me of lasagna noodles.. but the meat sauce was tasty. We also had the lamb sausage bruschetta and although it was tasty, it was far too expensive for the portion served (2 little pieces of toast!) Had an amazing dinner here with my family this past Thursday! The dishes that we ordered truly surpassed our expectations -- the rice cake special, charred octopus, NY strip, and panna cotta were absolutely phenomenal. They also had one of the best cocktails I've had in a very long time, which was the Mexican Chocolate Old Fashioned. I hope they never remove that from their menu! The only comment I would make is that the burrata was missing some type of sweetness (drizzle of honey) and additional olive oil in the dish, to help bring out the natural sweetness of the beets and creaminess of the burrata. Other than that, each dish was pretty superb. Can't imagine how glorious getting the Tomahawk would have been! Most importantly, shout out to our wonderful waitress, Shadrea who went above and beyond in making our dining experience spectacular. It's also been a while since I've had such 5-star service!! Beautiful ambience. We were disappointed with a few dishes this time. The mission flat bread was sort of burnt and we could taste the charcoal from the burnt crust. The original flatbreads at this place used to be bigger portions and tasted delicious, they have switched out the bread for a thin lavash bread. Then we got the fresh ricotta cheese on our table, it was after a long wait and we wondered if they had forgotten our order. It was a busy night, so that was ok. The buttered toast had no butter and the" toast "was more like a 10 day old baguette cracker- it wad so hard that a friend couldnt even bite into it. We asked the server if we could get a replacement for the bread. She seemed sort of rude and said that thats the only replacement and any other bread would be an upcharge of 5 dollars. She kind of acted like we werent knowledgeable of good food and kept saying that the replacement "crackers" as she called it would be the same and be hard. It shouldnt have been misinterpreted on the menu as buttered toast if it is hard crackers. We asked her to ask the kitchen, she finally got back saying she could give us the pita without a charge as a replacement. The pita was freshly made and still warm and infact tasted much better with the dish. The mushroom ragu was delicious but was served luke warm to nearly cold and would have tasted much better if it was served hot. The octopus was cooked very well, it was smoked right and not chewy. The lima beans served with it tasted SO good. The eggplant dip was spiced right, a good portion and was served with delicious fried pita. The moroccan beef skewers were flavorful and smoked well. The salmon was delicious ,creamy, cooked to perfection. The lamb tagine was served nearly an hour after placing the order- it tasted delicious and was very tender. 3 star review for a very lukewarm experience at Vidrio. It's taken me a while to think about what I'd like to comment on in this review mostly because I really do LOVE Vidrio. Many things I love about this place - the atmosphere both bar and dining area, quality food, served tapas style (bring it out as soon as it's ready), and quality drinks and service. Without a doubt up until my last experience was a place I would regularly conduct business meetings, take my beautiful significant other on dates, and host family meals. BUT after my lukewarm and drastically below average dining experience during restaurant week it will be a very long time until I'm able to convince myself to return. Being a young professional my dining demographic constantly matches just that - I am 25, and I look 25. Rarely does this impact my service, but in this case my large party of 6 was not accommodated equally with the rest of the restaurant. Being a good reviewer I keep an eye out for subtleties and I'm quite aware of what happens front and back of house at a restaurant. Regardless of any excuse, or comped food (thanks for some free desserts) it is absolutely unacceptable with an 8:45 dinner reservation to be served your food at 10:15. Although our food was great and up to the standard that consistently brought me back to the restaurant, we ate while the dining room was empty because of the delay in our food. Additionally, our drinks at the bar were poorly made. Once we made a comment to the bartender he was quick to make a second drink for us which was quite nice. All in all, restaurant week is something I don't take lightly (clearly). My husband and I just recently went to Vidrio to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We had never been before, but our daughter who lives in Raleigh made the reservation, telling us it was a great place. That was an understatement! From the moment we walked in the door, it was a total experience. The ambience, food and service was impeccable. We started with some fun cocktails; a take on a French 75 and a fun gin spritz that tasted like a Fresca! The restaurant specializes in small plates, tapas, which we took full advantage of. Each plate a delight! We had so much fun with those, we never made it to a full plate dinner. We concluded with some espresso and a delightful chocolate dessert. The general manager also brought us some fancy coffees with orange liqueur and whipped cream. I must speak on our service and server, Morgan. We are slow diners, loving to take our time and Morgan was more than willing to accommodate us. Once we told her our wishes, she seemed to sense when we needed something and would come to the table. She was delightful with a wonderful personality and attitude. I would give this restaurant a 100 stars for their wonderful food and service.
