The location is a little complicated to get to but they make up for it in friendly service with a smile, large portions, and great prices. This is our go-to pho spot in Spokane. The broth is delicious and if you get your pho with veggies they give you a lot! We went tonight for dinner and ordered one thing to go. My husband and I are a couple of tired parents with young kids keeping us up at night and we walked out, completely forgetting our to go order. The pho was amazing they were fast with our food. Place was clean, the only downside is that the waitress was rude.

Many people recommended this place to me, but after the first visit, I probably won't come back again. Maybe I had bad luck and went on a bad day. Their food is reasonably priced. I think I paid less than $10 for pho and that's considered cheap nowadays. This place is big but understaffed and I waited quite a few mins before the guy took my order. I ordered a standard pho and that's usually how I test out the food every time I go to a new Viet restaurant. Maybe this place is not specialized in pho because the pho I got was very bad. Everything was subpar. Portion and the amount of meat were obviously smaller than other pho places, but it also made sense considering it was under $10. The broth wasn't hot enough. Bean sprouts still tasted completely raw after sitting in the broth for mins and everything in the bowl just wasn't at the right temperature. My pho also came with a big chunk of noodles that weren't thawed completely as they all clumped together. For a pho like this, it is not hard to imagine how it tasted. I appreciate their existence but I'd go somewhere else for pho. read more

While visiting family we dined her for dinner. Our waitress wasn't the friendliest. I ordered tofu fresh spring rolls and my husband had the tofu bahn mi sandwich. Although the menu indicated that the spring rolls were served with peanut sauce, I received plum sauce. At first I thought perhaps it was just an odd peanut sauce but after a while realized that it was actually plum sauce. My husband also was given plum sauce for his sandwich which seemed odd. Both of our dishes were just okay. I should have said something, I ordered the rolls because I love peanut sauce. But we were there with our sons' family and the waitress never checked on us and it seemed like it would be more of a hassle than anything. And we had to go to the counter to pay since we never were brought a check. Next time I'll speak up If I don't receive what is described on the menu and the service is lack luster. read more

I have a passion for pho, it is one of my favorite foods, and I am on a mission to always try some mo'.] This was my first time trying them and I was pretty impressed. I have my favorites and Vien Dong is really good. From my photos you can see the amount of veggies they share with us in ratio to everything else in the bowl of soup. I also tried the spring rolls which were super yummy too! I want to try one of their sandwiches, since their veggies were so fresh. I miss the old Vien Dong. Yes, it's a new location. A big building with lots of parking spaces. But I knew as I walked in, It was too good to be true. It happens a lot of times when a restaurant expands and moves to a bigger location, their food tend to lose its original flavor. I felt like that is what happened here too. Service: They now have multiple waiters/waitresses compared to the old location where it just had one lady working. But the waiter guy didn't even know what was on the menu. Not friendly at all. Asked for extra chopsticks and small bowls because what kind of pho place doesn't have extra small bowls for the sauce... really? So he brought them and just DROP them on the table when he could've given them to us nicely. ohhhkay? Food: This was a big no-no. My noodles weren't even cooked, so some portion I was literally just chewing on noodles that felt like rubber. The biggest disappointment was the soup. Bun bo hue used to be my favorite at old Vien Dong. I am not sure if they are trying to save money or changed the chef or what, but it pretty much tasted like watered down soup.. VERY VERY disappointed. Price: They raised the price at this location. Now regular small pho is 8 dollars and large is 9. If it's pho w/ all types of meat or bun bo hue, small is 9 dollars and large is 10. I was so excited to try this new place, and I am not even sure if i am going to go back.. :( read more

Found this place to have spectacular food! I had given up on Chinese food here as it's all so greasy and heavy. This was an absolute delight in comparison. This was fresh and full of amazing flavors! Try not to be fooled by the actual restaurant itself as it doesn't look like much, but get past that, and you'll be able to experience some of the best Chinese/ Vietnamese food around. I just spent $70 on meals for two people at one of my favorite Pho restaurants in Spokane after driving two hours from my home to get there. We did some shopping and headed to the restaurant. We got there about 30 minutes from closing time not realizing that is was so late. It took a few minutes for us to order and were reminded by our waiter that the restaurant would be closing soon. It did not take long to get our meals but almost immediately the waiter brought takeout containers which were not asked for. I immediately felt rushed. This has never happened before. I felt rushed and very uncomfortable trying to enjoy my meal. This is NOT customer service. It felt like a "Bum's Rush"! If they are going to keep their doors open until Six p.m., they should accommodate their customers. We did not dawdle, we were trying to eat. When we realized what was going on, we started to pack up what was left of our meal. The lady bussing the tables came over immediately and started taking things off of the table right in front of us. She was reaching around trying to take dishes away. It felt like an intrusion. The food is good and we have been going there for several years and I cannot recall such horrible service. The portions are generous but it is not cheap to eat there as one reviewer seems to think. The place has gotten some pretty grim marks from the Washington State food inspectors in the past but tonight we noticed that the place was much cleaner than usual. Also, In the past, we have seen the same woman who bussed our table sweeping the floor while customers were eating. Very disappointed, indeed. The establishment is at the intersection of Trent and Freya. About two miles from I90. I am so upset by this, that I am going to call them on Tuesday when they open and asked what happened. I do not make it a habit of visiting restaurants or other establishments with no care about closing time. I know that this is delima especially with restaurants. But time to close the kitchen and clean up should be after closing and we were basically made to leave well before this. read more

Hubby & I dined-in for lunch and was seated right away. I ordered a #26 Pho w/brisket and the hubby got the #18 Banh Mi with bbq pork w/extra jalapeños. Food came out really quick since they weren't very busy. They gave lots of noodles which I loved, & the hubby was pleased with the extra jalapeños. We were both pleased with our meal. This is a complicated review. They were very fast. The price of food was good. I am aware of delivery charges however there was a 5.00 charge just because it was a to go order on top of the delivery charge and the tip and the bag charge. No one else charges that. The food was hot and very fresh. You should not have to ask for soy sauce as that is standard with any Chinese food. The canned soda has never been chilled at all. Was as warm as it could get. Thank god where I was I could go get a cup and fill it with ice. Um not a bubble in the can. As flat as a soda could get. The means it was very very old. read more

Went back to give Vien Dong a second look. The service hasn't changed. After waiting to be seated after 10-min, we departed. Seems you have to be a repeat customer to get any service. The kitchen appeared to be in need of a major clean-up. The main part of the restaurant was waiting for Robert Irvine to jump out to save the place. The staff have no priorities and there's no clue on customer service. The best thing to do is go to school learn how to run a restaurant and provide customer service.
