When it comes to finding venues for a first birthday party, I had no idea the lengths people go to snag the venue ahead of time. Some people I know reserve the venue for the first birthday even before the child is born! Imagine my surprise when it was only 4 months til my baby becomes a wild one years old and only just started to look for venues. The perfect storm of graduation season fell upon us and it made it even harder. One night, I was just looking for catering reviews to see if someone had a new idea of a venue and I stumbled on the Honolulu Zoo. Not only do the zoo can be the venue of your party, they can cater and have multiple locations for your party! Fast forward to the party date, we got the luau menu and the food was amazingly delicious! Everyone complimented about the food. They even brought out a keiki activity table and petting zoo animals. Communication with staff was awesome and Eddii was always there for us keeping us cool when things got hectic. I highly recommend Taste and the Honolulu Zoo for your next keiki birthday party!

But they can also rearrange a sitting arrangement so there is open areas for people to stand and mingle. Then they have the lounge area. That's our favorite! The couches are enormous and the set up is immaculate! They had floor walkers and escorts who helped everyone find seats or direct them where to go. That's as a good thing. Usually m, people have to figure out what to do or where to go at these events, no?! Lol. But this was a once in a lifetime experience for us and it was AWESOME! Of course my son didn't want to watch himself on screen, but, we all loved it! He did well. In fact, they ALL DID! Every single film was done excellent! I wish we could've stayed for the whole thing, but unfortunately we had to leave early because the kids had school the next day. So we left around 9pm. Maybe next time we'll have a better chance in watching our son on screen again. Soon! For sure... Ok that's about it! OH! And the restroom! Oh my... it's an experience to have. Lol! It's amazing! One door for ALL to enter. Then as you pass the main door, your in the lobby of the restroom. Like they have in fancy theaters or auditoriums or hotels. Yup! Only difference is, there's no seats or chairs to lounge on. There's a long marble counter top with about 5 individual sinks. Each side accessible for anyone to wash up. Mirrors along the wall. And then the MENS DOOR for their restroom is on the left and the WOMENS on the right. Ever the bathroom stalls were cozy. Toilet seats were nice and comfy, not those public restroom toilets. This Courtyard is like a chameleon!…read more It becomes an outdoor ice Skating Rink in the Hawaiian "winter"; changes into a open-air movie theater on the second Thursday of the month when the weather is warmer; and converts to a concert venue on the third Wednesday of the month during the spring, summer, and autumn. At other times, people enjoy this space as a Yoga studio/art gallery. Ward Village makes really good use of this area. Chairs are set up for the movies and concerts. A gigantic tent is erected when the weather is suggesting rain. Otherwise, the audience enjoys gentle trade winds, silhouettes of palm trees, and views of fluffy clouds, gorgeous sunsets, and sometimes... the silvery moon. There's a water feature on the far side of the courtyard, so if the sound bothers you, sit nearer to the entrance and away from the wall. Most events are free - just look for the community events online and print out your tickets! If the event you're interested in is a Brunch, the fee will be posted an you'll get a chance to try specialties of local restaurants, using a ticket system. There's ample free parking nearby and a beautiful, clean restroom on the ground floor of the "IBM Building". The co-ed sinks are a great idea for efficient use of this facility! Check it out!!!

This was a year ago, I didn't get a chance to until recently. I wanted to check out Sweet Mango's showroom which happens to be at The Pineapple Patio. From what I read, they do pop up events at The Pineapple Patio. The location of The Pineapple Patio is on South King St. right after the pet hospital and Central Pacific Bank. Stay on your far left lane as South King St. is one way. Make a left when you see State Farm Insurance. What I dislike about this place is the parking lot. Parking is very limited and very tight. I had a hard time parking my vehicle and hard time getting out. Once you find parking, you hit the buzzer for your pop up business and someone will come down to open the glass door for you. Walk up the stairs and you will see all the different vendors. During my visit to The Pineapple Patio, I had to pick up my son and was in a rush. I didn't get to browse around to the other vendors. What caught my eyes were all the plant and succulent across of the Sweet Mango's showroom, I wanted to check it out but had to leave right after. I will check it out when I have more time. Sweet Mango's products and showroom is so neat and organized. I loved the pineapple design prints on most of the merchandise, it is so nice and colorful. I had to get a pineapple print Turkish towel in green for me and a towel for my mom for Mother's day. Besides Sweet Mango Hawaii, some of the Vendors at the event were Tidepool Love, Kahulale'a, Aloha Dreamboard, and The Writing Desk. I read that it is best to check Instagram/social media's Pineapple Patio page for the upcoming events. What a great idea and great place to get your shopping done!

Look for the pineapple sign on the left side of King Street. There are about 10 parking stalls underneath the patio and street parking on King Street. This place is used for small start up businesses such as clothing and jewelry. It's a good place to have pop up events on the open patio or in their room. Another thing that I'm thinking about is possibly holding a bridal shower here in the future. Looks like a perfect venue to rent out and cater food at. (Not necessary to get catering, but definitely an option) They also rent out their furniture and plants that they have showcased around the patio. Super cute place and hope to be back soon!

9/27/25 Went to the Young at Heart Expo today and I cannot even remember the last time I was here…read moreat the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. It was my first time attending this event and it was also the last day of a 2-day expo. Event parking was $8 and they take take cash or BC. It is a little confusing at first entering the parking lot because there is a small automated kiosk where you pay for your parking and as I was reading the instructions, a nice young lady in the booth past the kiosk waved me over. She processed payment in a timely and friendly manner. The parking structure is a 3-story just across from the Blaisdell complex. It was full on the first floor with still plenty of available parking spaces. I was fortunate to find one just across from the exhibition hall. Nice to have covered parking! Leaving the structure can be a bit of a challenge if you're trying to leave to the King Street exit. If you take a wrong turn in the structure, you have to go completely around again to get to the correct lane and it's a very long parking structure. The event was free to attend and you can pre-register online & emailed a QR code. What's funny is, as I walked in with my QR code ready, there is no one scanning it, just greeters at the door. So QR code wasn't needed or required to enter. The expo was pretty full with all kinds of vendors. Flu shots were available thru some of the major health companies here like Kaiser, HMSA, Longs, etc. Some vendors had plinko you play for a prize, which was fun. Some were high pressured sales people which I did not care for. There were a couple areas set up for scheduled activities (I.e. pickleball, zumba, tennis), some vendors, and a stage. Jordan Segundo was the emcee and I had just missed the pet fashion show and caught the last 2 songs of Jordan. The facility was pretty clean, bathrooms were ok. The restrooms near the entrance is small, not too clean, and was out of toilet paper. The restrooms in the back by the stage are much bigger and cleaner. Besides the chairs surrounding the stage, there were also a few tables with table cloths for dining. The setting for the facility is nicely landscaped with the fish ponds by the hall and arena. I opted on a wagyu hot dog on a Hawaiian roll from Aloha Wagyu Hot Dogs booth. First time having a wagyu dog & it was ono! It was only $6, good sized, about 1/4 lb that came with mustard and crispy fried onions. They are not the same company in Waikiki called Aloha Hot Dog & Banh Mi. Overall, it was a good experience & look forward to returning for other events.

By in the day or ever since I can remember must be long time ago the fishes were more like small guppies and Talapia fish . To my surprise wow there's now Papio and my wife spotted a big Barracuda. Hmmm I think I will go late at night with my fishing pole and do some fishing LOL JK. It was a good turn out at the Food and Product Shows lots of people. Parking was $8 and Entry fee was $6 adult . I dropped a lot of money this weekend but that's ok to support local businesses is a must .

I wish I could…read moreat least report that the contractor (DieDie Construction) had provided some temporary access to the beach so that disabled persons would be able to cross the Queen Street bridge and access the beach. Alas, they have not. Vines which grew thick over the barrier fence for the project have been recently removed so perhaps there is some hope. In the last few days a late model pickup truck with the DieDie Construction logo has been arriving with a crew of one man. Progress continues to be very slow. The large sign posted proudly announcing the 3.6 million dollar project has been graffiti covered which speaks to the lack of progress. However, that one gentleman arriving the last few days in a truck gives us some hope!!!

Just got home attending my friend's daughter 6th birthday! first, parking, not a lot parking and…read moreshared with other businesses. located on the 2nd floor, stairs are located on the left side of the building (near papa john's). the place is just enough for less than 10 girls. they have a lot of costumes for kids, my daughter was kinda stress not finding one for her size (size 16) but she did and even made 2 outfits change. They have a rack for grown ups too! not a lot of shoe options but the accessories are endless! first, after all the girls are done changing, lisa did their hair using gel, pins, hairspray. the other lady did their make up ( a simple blush-using cotton pads, lips (using qtips) and eye make up glitters. She also painted their nails. Every one get their picture taken first.. After that, the girls sat down on the dining table with Lisa teaching them proper etiquette and table manners. the birthday girl have the bell to ring if the guests need more food. they all have individual teapot with lemonade, cheese, crackers, carrots, grapes, sausages, pb and j, tuna sandwiches. in the end, the bday girl blew her cupcake cake and every one got a cupcake with animal crackers and gummy worms on the side. my daughter is 8 and she had fun. i was busy taking pictures, and lisa also gave us (parents) some crackers, cheese, lemonade and grapes. on the other side of the tea party set-up is her store where she sells used clothes that was fixed or pre-loved. i know, the place is kinda old but the kids doesn't mind and at the end of the day, it's their happiness that matters! i think if u have a kid less than 5 years old she would absolutely love it! it was fun. and for me, i get to just relax for 2 hours.. (that's the kind of bday party i want) lol..

As I taped up my daughter's 5th portrait from Lisa Rose, I realized a review is long overdue …read more.. we've attended both birthday parties and taken advantage of their drop in "open house" events. This place never gets old for the girls :) You enter this charming dress up doll house and the magic begins ... the girls pick the perfect frock, shoes, jewelry, purse, wand, etc. & then each gets their makeup, nails, and hair done. Lots of giggles, posing, and princess fun ensues They next walk the runway, strike some poses, and get a official Lisa Rose portrait taken :) Then off to the tea party on the big Alice in Wonderland dressed table ... the girls get treated to the whole shebang of tea party fun along with some fun etiquette quizzing and practice. If you attend or throw a party crafting is part of the itinerary. Parking has never been a problem in the lot in front and they do have their own restroom facilities in house. I highly recommend every little princess experience the magic here and look forward to reading your reviews ... please note they do have dress up options for any little Prince invited as well :) Watch their Facebook page for open house updates if you don't plan on throwing a party here ... it's a great way to get to experience the place for $15 - $20 a princess. They even use The Barn at SALT for various vendors by Makia Market is an added touch and with several parking structures spread throughout Our Kaka'ako you don't have to walk far getting to your destination and the first hour is free though you need to scan the QR and get validation for the discounted parking rate is a bit different or if you find some street metered parking there is quite a bit available as well as a walk to view the various murals is also a thing to do in the area all are unique and just stunning to see.
