I'm a little late on the review but I went here with my mom and loved it. I got the Banh Mi Chao and loved it. The meat was tender, the sauce was very flavorful, and the bread warm and crispy on the outside, soft inside. I recommend you get an appetizer, rice, or extra banh mi to dip in the sauce since I was still a little hungry after eating the initial dish. I forgot exactly what my mom has but I believe she got the spring roll and a chicken dish that she then shared with me. Overall the flavors were there and I enjoyed it. The staff were also nice and attentive. Definitely worth trying out if you're in the area and have cravings. read more

New viet place in our neck of the woods! Had to try it out. Was excited to try the vast menu of all the different vietnamese foods. Went inside and was a bit surprised that it was primarily a Pho restaurant. I guess from the name of the place I was expecting a larger option of viet food not just mainly pho. Tried it anyhow. I was looking for a com tam dac biet which i always try at every place as a baseline for comparison. They didn't have it the closest was a combination rice dish which I got. They do not serve broken rice anywhere on the menu. Ended up getting two different combination dishes and a spring roll appetizer (shrimp). A bit shocked at the total cost coming out to be close to $50. That's a bit more than most other vietnamese places for the same type of food. But hey, captive audience in a more residential area... The spring rolls were a bit disappointing, there was no flavor and I guess it's because it was only boiled shrimp. Lacking the other part of the traditional goi cuon with the shrimp and meat. The combo dishes weren't bad. They had good flavor and the meat in both dishes were cooked nicely and not overdone. Still juicy. I would try this place again to see what the other items on the menu are like and it is not a bad option if you were in a pinch for some last minute food. Again though, i'm a bit hung up on the prices so that may make me think twice before ordering again as the first choice. read more

Was excited to try this place based on the reviews. Ordered the pho with the rare eye round beef and well done brisket. The small size is very small. At first taste, the broth tasted very flavorful but it was really overly salty and probably packed with msg. The brisket did not taste good, it had the taste and texture of old freezer burnt reheated meat. It was not fresh at all. The rare eye round was a little fresher tasting, so would recommend that over the brisket. Service was friendly and satisfactory. Overall I'm not sure it was worth $12 plus tax and tip (so over $15) for an overly salty tiny bowl of pho with old meat in it. Wanted to like this place and it was alright but unfortunately it fell short of expectations. read more

One of the worst bánh mì and gỏi cuốn I have ever had. It is like nobody else reviewing this place has every eaten at a real Vietnamese establishment. The peanut butter sauce that went with the gỏi cuốn was disgustingly thinned out with water. The gỏi cuốn itself was almost nothing but lettuce and a mediocre single shrimp. GARBAGE FOR 7.50 dollars. The pork bánh mì had next to zero picked carrot, cilantro, and ZERO jalepeno. The meat was not high quality and there wasn't much of it. I was like a little meat on a baguette with a touch of pickled carrot. MEH FOR 8.50 dollars! Why did I give it two and not one star? The liver pate on the sandwich tasted top notch. The baguette was also top notch. This food was WAY WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for the garbage we were served. We ended up throwing out half of the salad rollls because of the nature of the rolls and the watered down peanut sauce. THE FOOD HERE IS NOT GOOD if you have any palette at all. Perhaps I came on a bad day but I will not be back to find out. read more

Great service and wonderful food. The waitress was very patient and helpful with the questions on the menu and the food came out quickly. We have tried a number of Vietnamese places in the area and this one is by far the best. Cute interior, great tasting food, and warm environment. I tried the special menu and was thrilled by how good it was. Bang Mi Chao is quite a regular dish back in Vietnam our waitress told us but this was the first time seeing it in the states. We used to go here quite often especially when they first opened but there were few times that was a miss but we kept going because majority of the times food was always fresh and good portion size. However, this evening we received spring rolls along with other entrees we ordered. The spring rolls had bad shrimp and slimy translucent bean sprouts. So we called and asked for a refund but due to online order they couldn't do the refund over the phone and requested us to go back instead for a refund. So after time being wasted my husband drove back and gave them the whole box of food back. He mentioned they were hesitant about giving us the money back and offered to give us a replacement instead. I'm really bummed about this because we really like how close they are to us since we frequent go there. My issue with restaurants is cleanliness and quality control. I got chicken pho, wife got pork vermi, baby daughter got chicken kids plate. My pho was solid. Nice amount of chicken and flavorful broth. Wife's vermi was good as well. Lots of noodles and veg. Kids chicken plate was good for what it was. Basically a mini teriyaki for kids. All in all, very good! There are so many Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Both bowls of pho were quite good, one was veggie/tofu and the other beef and meatball. The workers were efficient and courteous and the restaurant is super clean. Don't let the portion of the picture fool you, you might think you won't get full off of it but it ended up being very filling. I love dipping the bread in the sauce and pate paste and making a little hand roll with the bread, egg yolk, steak. I need to come back here again and try their other items on their menu. It was the grand opening today and they offered 20% off so my girlfriend and I figured we would check it out! Right away when we walked in, we were met with such friendly hospitality. Then when we looked at the menus, we were impressed with all the great options and reasonable prices. Upon ordering, I kid you not, we got our food in less than five minutes. The pho was probably the best pho I have ever had, and I consider myself quite the connoisseur of pho eating. I was so impressed with the flavor of the broth, the amount of meat and noodles included, and even the length of the noodles was perfect for me. Then when we finished, we got the check and it showed an even bigger discount than the 20%! The service was really fast and efficient! I came in here around 4 ish to get some dinner to go and was very pleasantly surprised to see a pretty decent Vietnamese place in the area. Parkings great so that's a plus too. I ordered 2 large phos, a grilled beef/shrimp/egg roll vermicelli bowl, and some fried calamari. Everything was pretty good! The pho each had its side of condiments, and I really appreciate that since sometimes other places only give you 1 side of veggies for your multiple bowls of pho. They also gave ample broth (pet peeve is when they don't give you enough broth to go!) the broth itself was clear and had great flavor. A size large was true to size and quite filling/had a good amount of meat (had the special pho) It was a reasonable price and overall, I'd get it again. The vermicelli bowl was run of the mill and had a decent amount of veggies. However, the nuoc mam was wayyyyyy too sweet. This was the only disappointing thing of the bowl, but as any Vietnamese person knows, the fish sauce makes the dish :( hopefully they don't feel the need to cater to a more diluted Americanized version of nuoc mam.. it really was just way too sweet and threw off the balance of the dish. The fried calamari had great flavor and lots of garlic. I don't know if it's because I ordered it to go and it sat for a bit, but the bottom of the calamari order had a bunch of grease that saturated the fried goodness and made part of it soggy. I really liked the flavor, the fry, and the garlic, but perhaps they should remove the onions from the dish and just stick with garlic so no extra moisture is introduced. I should of also asked them to cut a little air Hole for the steam to escape the container whilst I was making my way home. Overall, they are a new family owned Vietnamese restaurant that I highly recommend trying out. Fairwood has a new gem, and although there were some kinks here and there, I do think they have the potential to be a really amazing regular go to restaurant for everyone in the area since their menu is not only affordable, it's healthy, fresh, and delicious! read more

Viet Phoody is conveniently located down the street and although we have only eaten here twice via takeout, I can confidently say we will continue to come back. The first time we ordered a vermicelli bowl and one do the chicken dishes. The second we ordered the pate special and chicken again - not sure why I am blanking as it was tasty! No food went untouched - and our dog may have found his way to the container of pate on the coffee table. Dog-approved but not dog stomach-approved. We've only ordered via the phone but it is easy to modify when you are in-restaurant as well if you need to. The folks here are very friendly and the place is clean. I'm not typically a pate person but to my surprise, the combination of this dish (typically served in a skillet) had SO much flavor and was delicious. The beef was tender, the creaminess of the egg yolk paired deliciously with the spicy meat sauce, and I didn't mind eating together with the pate. Tip - you'll want to have extra bread on hand to soak up all of the umami-goodness! Try it out for yourself! It won't disappoint. read more

We came back to try more of their authentic dishes. We had short rip pho and bun bo hue and avocado boba tea. The foods were delicious and the boba tea was good as well. The flavor of the broth was tasty and not overpowering and not greasy. The tapioca in the boba tea was still soft and it was delicious. The customer service was great. They have proven it again.
