Broth is still light, not super flavorful but does the job. It's a popular spot around though, and have reasonable prices - although they didnt show me the charge and it ended up being a +$17 bowl when the original price was supposed to be $13.50.. so they snuck some extra cost in there somewhere which I don't like, and they dont show breakdown, just final cost. Pretty standard Vietnamese restaurant in terms of both great quality and expected on-and-off service. I came here on a Saturday evening around 7:15pm. Coming in, it's a very casual and actually quite homely spot with an ample number of tables for both small and semi-large groups, some of which were occupied when I got here. It took a while for a server to show me to a table, and even then also take my order. Other parts of service like getting utensils were slow too, but somehow this didn't affect my experience too much. I got their com tam suon bi cha, which has broken rice (my favorite), grilled pork ribs, an egg pie and shredded pork skin. Very simple and standard whenever I go to Vietnamese restaurants, which is also to say I was very happy and satisfied with the food I got here. Grilled pork was easy to chew and flavored very well. Egg pie was mild and worked best with the provided fish sauce. Shredded pork skin was great as well, and broken rice is a big reason why I love going for com dishes! Because I wasn't sure about service, I walked up to the counter to pay for my meal once I saw someone else who also finished eating do the same. Prices here are relatively cheap compared to similar Viet restaurants, and I also heard that former Seattle Seahawks player Doug Baldwin also loves this place. I've had their food 3 times now. All were orders of takeout. They do offer big portions, but so do most Vietnamese restaurants. Their pad Thai was not very good. The noodles were very starchy and they stuck together. Flavor was mediocre. Their breaded and fried calamari was ghastly. They put too much baking soda in the batter. In fact, should the batter even have baking soda? I would think they would fry it with corn starch for a crispy outside. In any case, I had to strip off the breading and throw it away. I've been back 2 more times for a total of 3 visits. Once for dine in and once for takeout. I was very surprised by my dine in experience. We got a lot more food for the vermicelli noodle bowl and a lot more meat in the pho. Tables and chairs are sticky and sitting by the front door is cold so I don't enjoy the dine in experience at all. We got 2 pork chop rice plates and 1 tofu noodle plate for takeout. It's been a while since I came back here. Went to lunch with my sister who was in the area. Service is very minimal here, so don't come here with high expectation. Upon arrival, find a seat and sit down. Someone will come with the menu. I ordered the Hainanese chicken. It's still as good as I remember. They used to serve only weekends, but it looks like you can order it anytime now. The portion is huge! My sister ordered the com tam suon bi cha, instead of the pork chop, she asked for the short ribs, which they were able to accommodate. I originally ordered the fresh blended strawberry drink, except they didn't have it, and gave the powdered bubble tea version instead. It's okay, but I wouldn't recommend ordering this. It was fairly crowded with people, so can be fairly noisy which is a lot better than some Renton Highland establishment where it may feel like you're in a library. read more

One of the best banh mi sandwiches I've had for the price point! I've come here a few times now for the pork banh mi. The sandwich filling is delicious, with a hefty portion of meat and a great balance of veggies. The jalapeños can sometimes give the sandwich more of a kick but I love my food spicy so it's perfect for me. I have found the bread to be a bit inconsistent and it can sometimes be a little dry, however I've found the best way to avoid that is eating the sandwich super fresh (I usually get it to go so there's some time between the shop to home) or even reheating a little to soften the bread up. One down side is there isn't the ability to order online, but the upside to that is that you're not paying an online / processing fee! It's just that it wasn't what I expected. I was expecting more Thai style than what it was. It was overly sweet with a strong aftertaste of fishiness. It was thick and overall bad. I don't like to waste food so I tried to eat the rest the next day and even my family didn't want any of it. The spring rolls, itself was okay. The sauce it came with was unappealing. The texture reminded me of snot - gooey, runny, but it stretched like glue (slime). It felt like they put some starch in it or something. We ended up not using it. My kid liked the pork chop though. Usually the owner is the one taking orders, such a sweet guy, he provides for his family so he's always working 7 days a week, he works so hard for his girls! Their chicken rice was a huge portion and could be split up amongst 2 meals for sure! Chicken tasted fresh and rice reminded me of a seasoned sticky rice. It was overall pretty delicious, but not like a hainan chicken rice plate if that's what you're looking for. Pho was perfect for the cold weather and had so much meat! Everything was packed thoughtfully and it feels like they're the only pho that hasn't been cutting back on ingredients to save money. It was very surprising how much meat and noodles were given in the large bowl but a good surprise. Glad we did take out though so we could split up the pho to span 2 meals. I would stay away from bbh. It honestly tasted like pho broth with sate/chili. It was a sweet broth which threw me off so much I left this for my husband lol he also agrees that it's more like pho than bbh. I was craving for Vietnamese food and this place definitely hit the spot. Their menu is pretty standard of vermicelli bowl, rice dishes, sandwiches and pho. However, they have weekend special which is nice. On Sunday, their special is a duck+bamboo shoot noodle soup and salad as well as a bun bo hue. We opted for the duck one. We also got their broken rice dish. Food came out pretty fast and portion is pretty generous. The soup was pretty flavorful and the amount of duck and salad they gave was plenty. I wish they gave more bamboo shoot. The broken rice dish was ok. But for $10, thats pretty good. The egg could be more firm and the rice texture was somehow off.
