I can't believe this place has 3 stars! I've been here once but everything was great, the 3 snacks I tried were very good, the rooftop has a breath taking view, and they do fun activities like ladies movie night or yoga on the green. The location coudn't be better if you are going to a Rockies game. Was very excited to check out Viewhouse, especially with all of the cool ideas and hype surrounding the name. We finally got a chance to go and celebrate my good friends public offering of his app development company (which we were all extremely excited for). We showed up in a great mood, given the nature of our celebration. Here is the kick. My friend has a tattoo on the top of his hand in memory of his late mother. We were told that he could not come in. My friend is a rather large guy (6'3'' and stocky). I could tell comment made his blood boil, but instead calmly asked to speak with the shift manager. The bouncer responded that he was the manager. 1. If you are leaving your manager, that is responsible for overseeing problems (and possible solutions) for your entire staff/client base for the evening- you are seriously misinterpreting your manager's job description. 2. If not, how hard is it for the manager to explain the policy to us, when they should be a click of a radio away. The Corner Office, however, was glad to look over our threatening tattoos by graciously accepting our $390 bar tab and giving us exceptional service along the way! Thank you Viewhouse! I am very glad that your heavy bald hostess for the evening showed us what service we would have received inside before actually wasting our time. read more

This is an email I sent to management: Hello, I was in town this past weekend visiting family in Colorado. We decided to try out going to Viewhouse (Ballpark) on Friday night. I wanted to bring up an extremely disconcerting incident that took place that night. I would like this to be documented not only so it never happens again, but so that your upper management follows through with a thorough investigation, and learns to train/hire your staff properly. Myself and my one female cousin were on the dance floor. We were approached multiple times by completely wasted men. They were aggressive and way too drunk. This is issue number one. Your bartenders should know when to cut people off, otherwise it is a huge legal liability. As the night went on a male came up to us and put his arms around both of us, leaning on us from behind with his arms around our shoulders. His other friend stood in front of us and tried to make conversation. My cousin immediately told the man leaning on us to get off of us, that she is married and I am a lesbian. He refused to take his arms off of us and kept asking "why". He would not take no for an answer. He was horribly disrespectful. After multiple times of having to repeat ourselves that we were not interested the man standing in front of us then asked me if i was male or female. This is something men seem to do when rejected. He kept repeating himself as I refused to discuss my gender with him. He then reached out and grabbed one of my breasts. I pushed him back and he looked completely surprised like he had done nothing wrong. I am not sure if this is their culture as they were foreign and spoke with an accent, but it is unacceptable. I then ran over to the nearest bouncer on the dance floor and told him what happened. My cousin's husband (David) then came over to our aid and began yelling at the men who were harassing us to leave. The bouncer went over to the men and spoke with them and they left, or so I thought. I walked back to where my cousin was and the men had vacated. I thought at this point that the bouncer had kicked them out, which is the least he should have done. A few moments passed as my cousin and I walked out to the patio portion of bar. I noticed the two men were just standing there and had not been kicked out. We then came to find out these two men had numerous friends scattered around the bar. I again went over to the same bouncer and asked why he had not kicked them out. He responded "well I didn't see him touch you". This is very disturbing that your bouncer did not respect me enough to believe me. He should have immediately responded by kicking out the aggressors. As this moment a fight broke out between my cousin's husband (David) and the two men in the patio area. The bouncer pushed me out of the way to run over to the fight. This is another issue that the bouncer physically pushed me out of the way. I am partially disabled and have had three knee surgeries. He could have severely injured me. Which would be another huge legal and financial liability for the bar. As I approached the fight it was already broken up. David had already been kicked out, but the men harassing us had not. I later came to find David was tackled to the floor by of of the men, kicked in the ribs by another, and punched in the back of the head by yet another one of these men's friends. I have pictures of his ribs that show severe bruising. Essentially he was brutally gang-attacked by multiple men and the bouncers stood around watching doing nothing to help him or break up the fight. David's friend had to come to his aid and pull him out of the fight. I also found out my female cousin was punched in the jaw by one of the men as she was trying to defend her husband from being attacked by even more of these men. As I was came over to the area where the fight had taken place another bouncer told me to leave, though I had done absolutely nothing. He told me to stop yelling but I literally had just walked over and was standing there trying to figure out what happened and hadn't said a word. He said "oh..uh..okay"...as if he had no idea what was even going on. This further shows your bouncers are not properly trained. If they cannot pick out who the aggressors are and apprehend them it is an issue. They obviously do not know how to properly handle situations like this nor focus on what is actually happening. I was then kicked out as was my cousin. Needless to say this was a horrible experience I had at Viewhouse. The staff is not properly trained whatsoever. Not only was I physically and sexually assaulted, we were constantly harassed. The bouncers/staff did nothing to help, and only escalated the issue to a point of violence. It is deplorable how they handled the situation. The bar is disrespectful to women and the entire lgbt+ community. I can only hope the bar takes the proper steps to train their staff to at least an adequate level. read more

We were in from out of town to watch the Dodgers/Rockies games and found the Viewhouse open and ready for service. Great COVID protocols in place, including close contact tracing app. (that was a first but a nice added touch), and spaced out seating inside and out. We ate there twice, had burgers, shrimp tacos, brisket sandwich, Ancient Grains bowl, kale and squash and the French fries are a must have (really good)! Drinks are excellent, had the skinny paloma, sand piked strawberry lemonade. The Staff was friendly, very busy, but I suspect they are catching up with the fact that so many people are out and about now (perfect weather), and the opening series of baseball games probably brought in more people than they were prepared for. We would definitely eat there again if we visit Denver again. read more

Took in the Manning Bowl here and I must say I was most impressed with the building. Tho we didn't make the open air rooftop (rain, rain, go away) we still had a fun time under cover rooting the Broncos. Bottomless mimosas...what a grand idea for brunch. And the size of the mimosas were very generous. My pancake order was delish, however a bit short on serving size. The service was wonderful both inside lower level and at the bar. Noise levels are a bit on the loud side but nothing to be controlled when football fans are around. The crowd was great and despite the warning of people seeing the hoity-toity posh...didn't notice. And they do not turn away the heavily inked bodies....unless its after hours during club time, the bar was very welcoming to all in our party. Cheers! read more

The vibe here is always so spunky and trendy! Their outdoor yard with corn hole, shuffle board, hanging seats, and cabanas is definitely the coolest part of this bar. The upstairs is not that impressive view-wise but it does offer a very distinct feel from the dark wood, old tavern feel of downstairs and the upbeat, playful yard. Upstairs is more of a Hooters-feeling pub. Food is all right, but nothing to get excited about. Come here for the convenience to the ballpark and all the cool workout events and holiday bashes they host. read more

My only experience here was St. Patty's weekend, so I think I cannot review it fairly based on that BUT despite the odd type of event we were there for, I had an OK experience. Just ok. I see why it's called the view house, duh. It is nice to be able to see outside from wherever you are in the restaurant. The view is a great thing. I had breakfast there- a breakfast burrito to be exact. It was ok. Not the best. It was fine. Need I say more? Not sure if the food really wowed any of us. Service- I'd have to come back another time to judge this fairly. Not the greatest on the day that I went. We had 2 servers and it took a while to get some things we ordered, but in the end we got everything we wanted and I guess that counts for something. We came here for a gathering in honour of Australia Day, the Viewhouse sectioned off an area for us for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon, reserved signs in all of the tables in that section. Most of the staff were nice but didn't exactly look keen to be there. The bar area was small and often there were 4 staff back there. There was a few occasions where I was the only one trying to get a drink and had to flag someone down. They're just standing back there looking around into space, not even looking at the bar. They were quick with the prices though, as soon as they hand you the drinks the tell you the price without having to go to the till! I like that. After several hours and loads of money we got some food. The carnitas were great and my husband got the steak tacos, they were pretty good too. The sweet potato fries were really yummy, onion rings were tasty but a lot of breading. We ordered nachos to start but they came with the rest of the food. They were huge! But not as good as they looked, just so so. What absolutely wasn't so so and was absolutely amazing were these cheesecake balls that someone ordered! They were deep fried balls of cheesy goodness with a few different dipping sauces, about a million calories but totally worth it. read more

What a great Idea for a restaurant and truly an amazing view. A neat place to stop by before heading over to watch a game at Coors Field, which a couple of my friends and I did this weekend. Honestly I feel I need to give this place a second chance before really deciding how I feel about it. We headed to the top and were lucky to get an open table they were pretty packed. Great atmosphere and mixed crowd of people from familys to groups of College kids I did like the food, salads are really big and the Chicken tenders are tasty but I was put off by our server. Service is not the best, examples: Having to wait a long time for drinks, refills etc. Could lose the attitude. Placing the wrong order for my boyfriend and about the time he got his food we were all pretty much done with ours. (Should have gotten a discount or something on that meal, would have been nice, just saying) Now it was pretty busy and maybe this is why we got so so service but still it is not a good look for the restaurant, But to be fair I would give it another shot in hoping this was just an off day. read more

Food was okay, not worth the price, views were good, service was atrocious. After waiting 25 minutes to be sat (which we were fine with) we were treated by a snotty server who wouldn't look us in the eyes and continued to make smart a** comments throughout our dinner. To say he was the worst server I have ever had is an understatement. After we were done with our dinner (we had a group of 6), we asked for our bills to be split 3 ways. After receiving our checks we were not informed of the 20% gratuity that was automatically added onto the check. Not knowing that there had been an automatic gratuity added everyone at the table added an additional 20% onto each check (giving the server a total of a 44% tip). After receiving the final receipt from the server and after noticing that there had been a mix up with the tips, we asked for the server to take the additional tip off of the check where he continued to ask if "we have ever heard of the term gratuity". From here he insisted that he run our cards again, telling us that the first charge would not be ran, but this was not true. After him scamming us out of over $150 he continued to charge each credit card double the total amount. I am incredibly angry about this encounter and if I had the option would not give the server a single penny for a tip. Going forward I will never recommend any view house's to any of my friends and personally will never eat here again. read more

The owner of this place has done five things very well...the outside playground, the "above" roof deck, the cool interior design, the wide open garage doors, and hiring great staff. The place is designed to give LoDwells (LoDo Dwellers) a suburban-type local hang out (that neighborhood bar you walk to) as well as, a place to visit during the Rockies season. It does this very very well. I came in a week ago during one of the many Urban Races being ran in Downtown Denver, using The View House as a stop. Loved it. I came back after the race, had a great time, enjoyed some pretty tasty twists on appetizers, had a great server and the manager came over to chat. You can't screw up a bar with an approach like this: a concept lounge in a beautiful old brick building in the heart of LoDo right across from Coors Field. Even for those of us who despise sunlight with a fanatical passion, the roof is worth grabbing a pair of shades for. Pros: It has a lot going for it besides the location, the layout is cool (although the roof is where it's at), the menu is creative and the food well-executed (the sliders and the nachos were our favorites), and the beer selection is respectable. Maybes: The beer selection may be respectable, but, like so many in trendy hipster-choked spots, it in turn respects hops WAY too much. Enough pale ales already, let's get some more amber and darker ales in there, maybe a few blondes and wheats! The service was sweet and friendly, but plodding and stony at times. Cons: Upkeep! Especially on the roof! They're in a cherry location, but it means nothing if their furniture goes to waste. Rickety tables, weathered tables and chairs, etc etc. If they stay on top of that and keeping cracking the whip on server speed they'll be hotter than the cherry on a tourist's Thai stick. read more

Someone stole my hat here!! Please, viewhouse staff...if you can look at the security footage and find out who took my hat, I will love you forever. My waitress was Isabel (Bella) and I was sitting out by the cornhole spot, on the couch on the very left side...I paid 40 bucks for a Rockies hat (left it in the booth at this restaurant) I didn't even get to wear which is a bummer. What was most frustrating was your door guys wouldn't let me back in to look for it for whatever reason... Please help me get it back...can't u go back and see whose card they used?? It was still in the bag. Update: I wasn't ever able to find it after calling in and talking to a woman here (she sounded like she hated her life - And I can see why). After reading these reviews and visiting this establishment, I can see why the ratings are terrible and why so many people dislike this place. They didn't help at all and for all I know, they took my stuff and wouldn't let me look. If I come back, I will not tip...just leave the bare minimum for the tab and you can thank your douche bouncers. Cons: It will always be crowded on the weekends and before a Rockies game, the food is just so-so, the drinks are a little pricey, and it's the typical Lo-Do crowd. Pros: It's HUGE so it can handle the crowds, there seems to be a lot of staff so not too much waiting, THE ROOF, and that ridiculously cool fake-grass area where you can play games. All in all, this is really the perfect place to pregame a Rockies game, or maybe to do a Sunday Funday downtown. ViewHouse is just not what it used to be. A couple months late on this review but back in May my husband and I had our rehearsal dinner. Afterwards, we decided to bring our wedding party to ViewHouse. My sister was first and showed her id and the bouncer asked her how many drinks she's had tonight. My sister answered one and he said she can't come in. So of course about all 10 of us decided we weren't coming in. While we were standing outside of ViewHouse about to go to Tap14 the manager came up to us and asked us to come in. He said that if we went and waited in line we would have no problems this time. After thinking it out, we decided to do so. My bridesmaid and I showed our ids at the same time and the bouncer said "these two need to go in this way because they look like they need to eat". By the way we just had dinner. This really struck me because my other bridesmaid could not be there that night because she was at a facility. Best to say we all decided not to go there and took our business to Tap14 and had no regrets about that. The manager stood here and heard all of this and did not do anything. Man oh man what a place. If you are from out of town be aware of coming here. At night it is a place for people with a midlife crisis to aggressively hit on fresh out of college individuals. I have gotten food poisoning here, triple charged on drinks (refused to refund me had to make a claim with credit card company), accidentally kicked out after being there for 5 minutes (they were intending to kick someone else out but would not listen that they had the wrong person), and 3 people to a stall in the bathroom (constant drug use here). What should be a fantastic place with unreal views and perfect location is ruined by management and the people they hire. I've been here a few times. The first time was for reassuring me that the nightlife in Denver was going to be a-ok. Great variety of different hang out spots under one roof. - a decently sized dance floor with the proper headbobbing music going on. - a cool rooftop, high enough to make you feel superior to all those people walking around on the street. - Outdoor patio area, with a separate little pen/enclosure for smokers. The food at a bar needs to be rated on a bar food scale, and accordingly, I would give this place about a 3/5 for bar food. The nachos are a little disappointing, but the pigs in a blanket and various cheese sticks will give you your fried food fix. read more

3.5 stars I came here on Thanksgiving because the Westword had written up a delicious-sounding description of the holiday set meal ($20). The food didn't really live up to the description, generally. It was nice to have a diversity of the classic thanksgiving foods, and I liked that the cranberries were sautéed. Everything had a generally good flavor, but some elements were off. The turkey was fairly dry, with very little gravy, and the green beans were cooked in an oil that smelled and tasted like it had gone bad. (I know rancid cooking oils are commonplace in many restaurants; might want to look into this..) Service was quick, attentive, and friendly, and the crowd was pretty sparse due to the holiday. It was a nice vibe, warm decor (lovely wooden light fixtures), but the many large and loud TVs playing sports games kind of killed the mood. I had the firefly fig cocktail, which was great, if a bit too sweet. I'd probably only come back here to try out their happy hour and check out the view during a warmer time of year. read more

When my friends and I were there Friday to watch the fireworks our server was never anywhere to be found and we had to keep asking someone to find her. Late in the evening on Super Bowl Sunday, my friends and I (party of five, all persons of color) walked over to Viewhouse, hoping to get one more drink to end our night. However, once we approached the door we were asked to wait for seating and complete the COVID survey, which was fine but mind you it had just started to snow and the temperature was 15 degrees. Of course we did not mind waiting for a table, but personally from what I saw from outside of the restaurant....there were definitely tables available inside. Finally the hostess was able to seat us down at a table after 10 min of waiting, but the table was OUTSIDE. Like I mentioned earlier, the temperature had dropped drastically and it was snowing so we began to get frustrated because they did not seat us inside of the restaurant. I asked the hostess to move us inside and she then began to give my friends and I attitude about moving inside the restaurant. After complaining to the hostess about how cold it was, she finally agreed to move us inside but another host had directed us to the table inside. We were then directed upstairs to the inside bar and we finally all sat down as a group, literally none of us were standing at this point. We sat down for only 3 min max, and then suddenly we were approached by another gentleman, (looked like a manager), who said "we will not be serving y'all tonight" and would not tell us why. At that point, my friends and I were extremely frustrated because we were only trying to end our night on a good note but the service of this restaurant ruined everyone's mood. We went through all of that trouble just to sit down, and then finally when we do sit down, they tell us we cannot order food or drinks. Yet, everyone else in the restaurant was still ordering food and drinks!!!!! Then they threatened to get security!? Like for what?? Sorry we're upset about your poor service!? The whole experience was just so disrespectful and embarrassing. After this experience, I'm not sure I'll ever be returning to this location ever again and honestly I don't recommend others to visit this location. I hope Viewhouse management looks at this review and seriously addresses it within the staff. As a person who has worked in a restaurant, I personally know that you do not seat guests in your establishment and NOT serve them. It's just a slap in the face.
