Delicious coffee and kind staff. We moved here from SF and were so scared we wouldn't be able to find good coffee, but Vigilante has been a treat. First time here. Spacious layout. They have the front door panels open and a large fan to help ventilate and cool the inside of the café during the summer. Still felt a bit warm initially, but eventually the breeze felt nice. We were waiting to order (no major line), and none of the staff greeted us or asked if we needed help. Not very welcoming for sure. So I asked for assistance and placed my order. Still not friendly to the customers. Once she completed the transaction, she literally just walked off and started talking to her coworkers without even saying a word. We took our number cue, and sat down at one of the tables to wait on our order. Ordered 1 iced matcha latte with soy milk, 1 iced london fog with oat milk, and 1 blueberry scone. Kind of pricey overall for what you get. The matcha powder wasn't well-dissolved. Had chunks of powder in the drink. Small amount for what you get. There was also a strand of hair in my drink... I didn't even bother to complain because the staff were already unfriendly and not welcoming. I didn't have the energy to argue. So just left it at that. Regardless, definitely not worth the cost. Same goes for the london fog latte. The blueberry scone was mediocre also. The café's layout was nice and ambiance was overall good since it was an open layout. There is a parking lot right in front, so that was nice, especially on Coast Highway, where there is mostly street parking and finding parking can be quite challenging at times. read more

A local roaster with really great coffee, what a score! I am a new convert to making espresso at home. I bought a nice machine and have been trying different beans to find my favorites. Vigilante is up there. The beans are always fresh within a few days to a week and they have "tasting notes" on the bag to give you an idea of flavor. It's almost like reading wine descriptions! Tin Lizzie is one of my favorites so far. I also hear they have live music and they do have a nice seating area and cafe. A very good fit for the Oside mood. I'll be coming here a lot to grab a drink or refill my bean stash. read more

Really good coffee!! First time coming to vigilante coffee and it didn't disappoint! The inside is gorgeous and the coffee was delicious! I went with drip coffee (they even gave me a sample before I ordered an entire cup, much appreciated!) and some steamed oat milk (they use Oatly which is my fave!). My hubby got an americano. The coffee was really smooth. There is lots of seating and I love the open air atmosphere. I can't wait to come back and try one of their pastries and açaí bowls! Service was fast and friendly. Great energy as soon as you walk in. Easy and convenient parking too right off PCH. Has lots of open seating so it easy to work or study here. There are some outdoor seating options as well. Ordering is fast and they serve anything in house pretty quickly. I had the mint latte and it was actually the best mint latte I've ever had. Not too sweet and the coffee is rich. Subtle mint flavoring, more of an aftertaste that was highly welcomed. Plus having the Andes mint on the side made it even more fun and yummy. The almond croissant looked so good in the case and after being warmed it definitely made my morning. Nice and flaky with a sweet almond filling. Definitely would come back to try some more options. Stopped by while driving north from SD. This coffee shop was enormous with so much space and giant garage windows that, when opened up was really nice for the ocean air. I got the matcha latte, which was pretty good. My only complaint was that the price seemed a bit much for a small amount of the drink. The matcha was rich and felt like good quality. This wasn't my first visit :-) but my third, the first 2 times I took my coffee to go. Today, I met my friend and her daughter and Tok a seat - We all ordered drinks and pastries. My 16oz latte which was smooth, creamy & delicious and the morning bun divine. I believe the pastries are not made in house but delivered fresh daily from Petit Madelines. Employees are friendly. The interior is spacious, seating comfortable, and atmosphere relaxed. It seem sufficiently quiet, despite the number of people sitting inside, to concentrate and get some work done if your inclined to sit at coffee shops working. I'm not sure if I would sit outside when its so comfortable inside. Outside the seating is limited, coast highway is loud, and there isn't a view. Parking is abundant. Bathrooms are clean. Vigilante really isn't offering anything new to the coffee experience and its probably up for debate as to whether South O needed another duplicate business/coffee shop. However, overall, I like Vigilante. It was a comfortable spot to meet a friend, I enjoyed my coffee and pastry. read more

Really fun place. Great coffee. I ordered a maple spiced latte and it was super sweet so they made it for me again half sweet and they were very nice about it. It came with a cute little cookie on top. Real maple syrup is a plus. My husband's iced Americano was very nice. I think next time I would just get a cappuccino. One big bummer is that they only have whole milk, oat milk, and soy milk. I can't understand why you wouldn't buy some containers of nonfat or almond milk if you ran a coffee shop, but hey it's not my coffee shop. Their logo is great but the aesthetic of their location doesn't really flow with what they're going for. They are definitely a roastery and have those warehouse vibes. Tons of space to work and hang out. Very laid-back and casual atmosphere. Not sure what the skateboard, vigilante, turquoise wall, 80s furniture has to do with one another...but hey it's fun. Location is great because it's just far enough away from revolution roasters and just far enough away from rising co/seabird coffee to be kind of in the middle. They had some great outdoor tables and workspaces and they're next door to a brewery which is really fun. Definitely check this place out and definitely support it if you're a local! read more

Vigilante is such a great coffee shop in Oceanside serving up delicious drinks. They have a large food offering and the baked goods case is on full display right when you walk in. They had a variety of pastries, croissants, toasts and acai bowls. The shop has an open air concept so the entire front opens up with garage doors, is very inviting and the staff was friendly. They also had a live band playing on the Saturday morning we went which was pretty neat. I ordered an almond milk cortado which was smooth and superb, made perfectly. My husband ordered an iced vanilla latte with almond milk which was also great. We weren't planning on hanging out and staying but liked the ambiance so much that we hung out for a while and ended up drinking our coffee there. Had I know we'd do that, I would've said so. They are environmentally friendly so serve their drinks in ceramic and glass cups if you plan on dining in. Check them out if you're up in north county. Or make a trip up there like my husband and I did and then go hang out by the strand. read more

This place is great for a nice dark roast coffee to get your motor running. The place is airy and has many places to sit to meet a friend or to work/study. The coffee is rich and have a full body taste. The young man at the counter was helpful. I loved the decor and the open spaces because it made it feel like I was at a beach resort. They do have açaí bowls and pastries but I didn't try that today. If you need a place to study or just a place to hang out I recommend this location. read more

New staple found! Love the openness and vibe of the place. Staff is very friendly and helpful! I was a little disappointed by the lack of sugar-free options, but even just the latte with oat milk and cinnamon powder alone was rich and satisfying enough. I had a great blueberry scone as well. Not too sweet and pleasantly buttery. Bagels are pretty decent, a half with toppings with my coffee was enough to keep my mega-appetite self full. Second time I came I had some delicious and fresh sourdough. I can't wait to continue to try things here as I now have it included in my coffee shop rotation. We stopped in here to work for a few hours in the afternoon as a change of pace. There is a LOT of seating so that's not a problem. The coffee we ordered was a cappuccino and a London fog. OK, so not a coffee. The cap was light and made with oat milk. Oat milk is difficult to foam correctly and the barista did a fantastic job. The London Fog was a little too full and spilled on the table a bit, but, otherwise very good. We also had a piece of the chocolate salted toffee biscotti. That dipped nicely into the cappuccino. Seating, as we mentioned was great. There was some cool surf rock playing and it wasn't too loud. The front opens up so that it's one big space with seating outside and in. I'm only giving four stars because of the messy London Fog and the very terrible wifi. If you don't want to have wifi, that's fine. But if you have wifi, make it usable! read more

Big, clean space. Cute merch, we bought a cup to bring home, but there were several things I had my eye on. Spent a little time here working while I waited for my coffee. It was a little noisy because it's popular and the music is a little loud, but not a problem for me. The employee who helped us seemed slightly flustered over my traditional macchiato order and told us he was new, but he was friendly and got it figured out. You can see the toaster in the back of the building. Pretty cool. Now the coffee. Presentation was great with a little tray and sparking water on the side. My husband and I always order the same thing, macchiato for me, espresso for him. We spent a few years in Italy and prefer the traditional bold roast. This was more of a third wave style coffee with the fruity/sour/citrusy notes. If that's your preference you will probably like this. We didn't care for it, but would return and try something different. read more

They didn't have a cold brew latte on the menu but they let me do a cold brew with any ratio of milk I wanted. I also ordered an iced vanilla latte and it came out tasting disgustingly sweet and spiced like chai or pumpkin spice, nothing close to a vanilla latte. I told this to the barista and she just said they don't make pumpkin spice lattes. Um, what? That's not the issue. I'm really disappointed because I've loved the drinks and the service every other time I've come here. Vigilante has a lovely open space with a community-style atmosphere. The cafe has an industrial aesthetic with an Oceanside beach town twist. The pastries and toasts are delicious and filling. The espresso in their lattes are also super tasty! I come here often to get work done on my laptop. The only downside is occasional spotty WiFi, and sometimes it is pretty full and can be difficult to find a seat near a wall outlet to charge your computer.
