We really liked the double pepperoni deep dish pizza we got. Thought it was fantastic. Called in the order, walked to pick it up, enjoyed a great IPA outside while our pizza cooked. Only took about 20 mins for the deep dish to cook. The kid helping me poured a perfect beer, and never have I had a beer delivered so cautiously, as not to spill a drop. Just returned from an overnight trip to Solvang and hubby and I ate dinner at Viking. Ordered a thin crust double pepperoni and have to say we thought it was one of the best pizzas we've ever had. Super hot, cheesy, and full of flavorful small pepperonis. Hubby had one of their draft beers and I had a nice Cabernet. Friendly staff and good prices. We recently stayed at Hotel Corque and noticed Tower Pizza delivers to the hotel. Our interest was immediately peaked. Tower Pizza is located a short walk from the hotel and is slightly hidden from the busy street as it's down an alley. That's actually a plus as it's away from all the tourist noise/commotion. Currently due to COVID-19 they did not allow anyone to enter the restaurant (you order just outside the front). There are a group of tables outside for anyone who wishes to eat there. We opted for take-out and ate back at our hotel. We got the Vegetarian pizza with added pepperoni (yeah yeah not really vegetarian but that's how we do!) and it was delicious. It was a very good pizza, I loved the thin crust, it wasn't overloaded with sauce or spicy. It was a very good pizza. It tastes really good the next day without heating it up. Only thing is they don't sell individual slices, which was what we were looking for when we came in. Then having to pay $27 for a medium pizza is way extreme! It is off the beaten path- exactly what we were looking for to take a break from the "touristy" spots. The waitstaff were helpful and quick. The pizza was delicious! A craving for pizza in Solvang. Not one of the best of deep dish I've had but it wasn't that bad either if you didn't mind the burnt crust and added a whole bunch of pepper flakes to it for flavor. Couldn't really tell if there was extra cheese. ‍ My husband and I shared a Diet Coke since we had unlimited refills but still paid about $30 bucks for our lunch of pizza and a drink. It's a tourist spot and we did come on National Pizza day. Decor is sports with about 5 tvs in dining area showing different games(We had college basketball on). The pizza is worth the wait! It wasn't too busy, so I didn't wait for too long. The bread is crispy with a bit of char, cheese is nicely melted, pepperoni is plentiful, and is seemingly right. The customer service is great! They're very accommodating. I didn't get any bigger sized pizzas as I'm trying to sample everything Solvang has to offer (I didn't get far). Staff seemed unaware of how to handle a high volume of orders on a busy night. Food runners were wearing AirPods (!!!!!!) and couldn't hear a thing. They called our name with our order in hand, we called back and they proceeded to walk right past us and drop the food at the wrong table. When I brought this to the attention of the FOH staff they all seemed incredibly confused and defensive of the staffer who was obviously not doing their primary function of delivering orders to the right tables. Credit where it's due, there was one young fellow who did their best to get things squared away - so thank you for that. We wish the rest of the staff was like you. All being said, once the food finally arrived only one of the three pizzas we ordered was truly edible - two of the three tasted undercooked and kinda old. This is nothing to say of the breadsticks that tasted like something odd had been done to them. The dough was strangely chewy like they were old/off or something else. The sauce/marinara was nothing to write home about, either, and it was cold. Sadly, this is a place that we've enjoyed coming to for years but they have fallen into the trap of quantity over quality. I blame Solvang recently becoming TikTok famous coupled with an undertrained staff for their current woes. Ate Tower Pizza for the first time yesterday. My fiancée used to live in the area & used to love this place and I can't believe we haven't had it till now. We ordered pickup (it's covid time so they only have pickup or delivery) We were almost 30 min late picking up because we got caught up with his mom so our pizza was a little cold... but honestly it was still so good! This evening we came to this location to order food. Hours stated they are open until 8pm. I was denied to eat inside but something more disturbing happened infront of me. An Indian family walked in wanting to order 4 large pizzas to go at 7:07 pm and they were denied and told they were closed but 3 white men came in right as the Indians walked out the door and placed an order. The three white men were sitting at the bar drinking while I had to sit outside to eat. To top it off as I was leaving the white men were able to eat inside but I was denied. I'm appalled especially knowing I'm a local. Raised in Solvang and to see this type of behavior is disgusting. It will definitely be made well aware in our small community. I've been coming here for about 30 damn years and I never thought I'd witness racism or treating our tourist who keep this community and local business owners going. This use to be my favorite pizza place and I'd rave to people to come here from out of town but unfortunately I will use mine and other social media platforms to make sure people know to stay away and what was witnessed. The discrimination issues have been addressed to the labor board and my legal team. I am a white woman but was with a Hispanic male so makes perfect sense why I had to sit outside while the white men enjoyed the warm indoors when they arrived after I did. Oh and to top it off the pizza has gone downhill and the heath department should be called. No washing hand, young kid not wearing gloves, and laying their cutting boards outside on the outdoors furniture.
