First thing, it's BYOB. My friends and I didn't see anything on their site that says it but I knew from coming previously and called to confirm. They have a decent parking lot in the back. We were greeted right away and sat down. Now there's two areas for seating, one is dining area and another is the pizzeria area. There was not enough room in the dining area so they had us sitting in the pizzeria area. Our server opened our wine for us and brought us bread as we figured out what to order. We are all for the bread but it wasn't that good. Kind of tasted like it was going bad and they tossed it in the oven to heat it up. We ended up ordering the cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer. Very greasy and garlic-y. We wished we had actual napkins to dab some of the grease off. Otherwise it was really good. Definitely something we'd order again. I ordered the penne alla vodka and my friends ordered chicken marsala and chicken franchese. All super good! Loved that the chicken was on the thinner side. Wow what happened? I've been a loyal customer to Villa Gennarros for years and until yesterday I really didn't have a major complaint. I ordered a pizza, which up until now had plenty of toppings,and sausage and peppers and meatballs. The pizza was delicious but definitely cut back on toppings, and sausage and peppers was good but there is no reason why I got the smallest meatballs I've ever seen. They weren't homemade and worse yet they looked like the frozen ones that you get from Sysco. I'm awake or cost control but c'mon don't charge the customer a side of overpriced precooked frozen meatballs. read more

I was here for a work sponsored event so my review is based on a group setting for dinner. There was plenty of parking. I entered in rear door to a large open seating area. I was quickly greeted and told the event was downstairs. I went outside, down a set of stairs and into a large room. Throughout the evening our server was great, refilling drinks quickly, smiling and seemed to be enjoying her job. Bread was placed on the table, followed by a large salad. Great dressing. Last night my wife and I stopped at Villa Gennaro. We walked in around 6:30 pm the atmosphere was very warm and comfortable . The staff seated us quickly , thank god cause I was hungry . They have a wide range of food on the menu and the specials really completed the menu . The butter squash raviolis were tremendous and the the stuff salmon was more them expected . Went here yesterday for the first time and it will definitely be the last time. Ordered penne vodka with fried chicken cutlet. Vodka sauce tasted store bought. Very bland and flavorless. My family was visiting the Woodbridge area and decided to grab Italian from a non chain establishment. I consulted Yelp and decided to try Villa Gennaro. The restaurant is a pizzeria restaurant. The take away section is attached to the main dining room. Cute restaurant with classic Italian decor. It has plenty of tables and even an outdoor patio. The food, overall was disappointing. My family ordered fried calamari, Cheesy garlic bread, fusilli bolangnese, custom brick oven pizza with prosciutto, and rigatoni alla gennaro (shrimp and scallop with garlic sauce over linguini). The dish my family enjoyed the cheesy garlic bread. It had good flavor and bread was good. The pizza was a thin crust pizza and it was decent but tasted bland on its own. I know because my kids were mostly eating the prosciutto and I ate the leftover pizza. My wife didn't really care for the shrimp and scallop linguini. Sauce flavor was ok but pasta was mushy and the seafood was overcooked and not the freshest. My fusilli with bolagnese sauce was ok. Pasta not al dente and sauce could have had more meat - it was watery. Worst dish was the calamari. It's rubbery, and the breading was flavorless. Surprisingly we didn't get a lunch menu as the entrees were mostly $20 and over. Flavor wise it doesn't justify the price. I looked at their website and there is a lunch menu. The first thing we noticed was a great ambience. We got a table indoors, but they also have a lovely outdoors seating. Nice music and classy interior. Great service! The food. The seafood pasta was delicious, and the portion was shareable which is nice. The rib eye steak was juicy and tender, really enjoyed it! They also serve complimentary house-made bread, and you can tell it's freshly baked. Also, impossible not to mention the desserts - beyond amazing tiramisu and pistachio cake. We have enjoyed coming to this family owned byob for 5 plus years now. Whenever we get the chance for a date night this is our go to. Not only is the food amazing but the staff gives excellent service. The family is always there working together which is something we admire. The prices are very affordable and always fresh, made to order. They are more than accommodating and can customize the meal to your liking with no hesitations. This is definitely a place to try! Aside from dining, we did have our sons 2nd birthday there. They provided a private room downstairs which is so beautiful. We cant say enough about this establishment. Oh! how we missed y'all today! It's July 4th weekend and we as a family settled into our Saturday routine (with no plans for lunch) only to call and find you've taken a much needed break for a few days. Because we had to eat we went to another local spot, who shall remain nameless, to pick up buffalo wings and a large pizza with extra cheese, sausage and pepperoni... Not only was I given the wrong pizza and had to drive back to the restaurant, there were no apologies or concessions for my inconvenience. The pizza was tasteless and not a shred of extra cheese in site. The buffalo wings were also wrong, replaced with wings fried in old grease, no buffalo sauce but a substitution of BBQ sauce. Needless to say, no one in the house is pleased BUT we plan to see you when you reopen this week...because when YOU'VE had the best, there's no need to settle for the rest! Enjoy your 4th! I've had take out from here numerous times and I've always enjoyed their pizza so I promised myself to come here to dine in at least once! I went here last night with my boyfriend and we both were pleasantly surprised with everything! For starters it's a very cozy place with a good amount of seating - not too small, not too big - and beautiful decor. There isn't a host stand though and everyone come through the back door rather than the front so it can be a little confusing at first but just stand patiently and wait for someone to seat you. Anyways - the food! We were given some bread once we sat down and shortly afterwards ordered stuffed artichokes for an appetizer. We both agreed they were delicious. Stuffed with cheese, tomatoes and breadcrumbs and covered in a lemony buttery garlic sauce. I could have had two for those for dinner and have been completely happy. For our entrees I went with the homemade roasted red pepper pasta and my boyfriend went with the lobster fra diabolo (a special of the night) which came with not just pieces of lobster but a whole lobster!! We definitely weren't expecting it. We both loved our pasta and left with a decent amount of leftovers to have another time. For dessert with went with tiramisu which they make in house and was probably one of the best tiramisus I've had in a real long time. Service was friendly and attentive as well. We both felt that everything was fairly priced and since they are a BYOB place that helps to keep the bill down too. We will both we back to enjoy even more of the menu choices. read more

My coworkers have been going to Villa forever, I finally went, but I just can't understand why. Our reason for going: outdoor seating... That's all fine & dandy, but then you can't hear anything but the steady sounds of cars zooming by Rt.27 the entire meal. Villa wasn't the quick reprieve from the office I needed, but the stressful lunch of not knowing if you'd be back on time for that last meeting of the day. I was the last one waiting for my food. Everyone had been served, & luckily I told everyone to start. By the time my "Stromboli" comes, everyone had finished their sandwich & they were left to watch me eat. Well this Stromboli took an extra 15 minutes to cook, and it ended up being a calzone. The waiter had no idea what the difference was between the two, I like them both, so I didn't say anything, but c'mon this is Italian. Know the difference between your bready Italian dishes! Good meal. Excellent service. This is one of the better pizza place/restaurants in the area. The dining room is open and thus visible to the pizza place part of the restaurant so you may not necessarily feel like you are in a restaurant. But, that should not detract from the excellent food that they are serving here. We have eaten here several times and have always enjoyed both the food and the service. Dropped in for a quick late lunch today and had a great experience! Staff is super friendly and the menu has a lot of great options. I went for the veal piccata with angel hair and my dad ordered the Greek salad- he always comes here for it. I tried some of the salad and it was great, I'll definitely be back to order it whenever I'm craving a good salad. It comes with pita bread triangles all around the salad- I do wish they were toasted or warmed up though. The veal piccata was also good- the lemon sauce they made was delicious with the angel hair. The pizza here is also ok. The crust is a little thinner than Brooklyn Boys. This place was sketchy because they wouldn't tell us how much the pizzas were. The prices on their menu are only for personal pizzas. So we ended up just ordering a few pizzas and hoping for the best. I saw on the receipt that they charged us $24 for each pizza. It came out to $10 a person, but most people only had two slices. On the plus side, the restaurant was nicely decorated for the holidays. It's a nicer place to sit than Brooklyn Boys. Also they are open on Sunday, whereas Brooklyn Boys isn't. read more
