The Furtado Family has owned the ranch forever and thankfully they're opened the space up for events. It's tucked away in its own valley located in San Luis Obispo Wine Country. It's the perfect place for a wedding because it's got one barn for the catering and the other for reception. We had our wedding at the Loma Grande Ranch on September 19, 2015. Our wedding was originally supposed to happen a year earlier, in September 2014, but I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 months before our wedding date and the previous venue we booked told us we couldn't have the wedding there anymore. Lost and upset, we started looking for another venue in SLO County when we found Loma Grande. What a gift! Nancy and the whole Furtado family were so welcoming and warm and we're so happy we ended up having our wedding there!!! It had way more room and we were able to fit all 275 guests inside the barn without a problem! The great part was we were allowed to bring in our own food and alcohol so we were free to choose the catering company. Nancy was also great with letting us visit whenever we were in the area to get a lay of the land. Not to mention they're the most affordable ranch in the area. The barn was absolutely beautiful during the day and even more magical at night. The string lights between the two barns made the best setting for a night of drinks and dancing. So clean. So much parking. Really really cool vintage barn. Offers so many amenities that the other venues just do not have. Above all else. The brand-new 5,000-square-foot main house is gorgeous and thoughtfully designed. It features multiple bedrooms and spacious bridal suites where each woman had her own vanity for hair and makeup, making getting ready a relaxing and enjoyable experience. They also have additional guest cottages on the property for the bridal party and family. Many include private hot tubs, which made it feel like a weekend getaway instead of just a wedding venue. Although our wedding was an adults-only event, our 8-year-old grandson, Weston, was there with family, and the staff treated him wonderfully. Alicia, the property manager, was exceptional--professional, attentive, and genuinely caring throughout the entire weekend. She truly helped make everything run smoothly. We also want to recognize our photographer, who went above and beyond to connect with Weston. She was the only one who could consistently get him to smile for the camera, and those moments meant a lot to our family. Between the stunning venue, excellent food, beautiful accommodations, and an incredible team led by Alicia, The White Barn in Edna exceeded every expectation. My sister and I stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage. The bride's family stayed in the large house and the studio unit was used to stage the hair, makeup and bride's dressing area. From Website: "The Flying Caballos Ranch was originally owned by the Gaxiolla family in the early 1900's and encompassed several hundred acres. The Gaxiolla's were Swiss immigrants who operated the ranch as a dairy farm; the original farmhouse was built in 1905 for the entire family. In 1952 the guesthouse and studio were built to accommodate one of the brothers who got married and wanted some privacy from his bachelor brother who lived in the main house. The Gaxiolla's grew their own vegetables, vineyard, and orchard. They hunted deer and fished for salmon, all on the ranch. Currently the ranch consists of approximately 100 acres with horse and cattle grazing, a year round creek and unobstructed views of Edna Valley and Islay hill". The property has been completely restored to its original glory. Its a breathtaking vacation rental & special event venu. There are three rentals available including the main ranchouse, the green guest house, and an adjacent studio apartment. We spent the afternoon here the day after Saturday wedding for a family BBQ. I truly didn't want to leave.
