We love coming to this winery. The last trip, we stayed in their hotel and it was lovely. The rooms were clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The continental breakfast was good- yogurt, cereal, toast, jam and fruit. The coffee was not ready by the time we left so I can't speak to that. Would definitely stay again. read more

The wine was great, but unfortunately my group was grossly overcharged. We went here with a tour guide (Fernando Gaxiola of Baja Food + Wine) and he charged us 30% more than what we actually ordered. It's really unfortunate because it put a huge damper on what would've been a great memory and experience. Beautiful winery that specializes in Italian varietals. Our driver Andrea recommended Villa Montefiori as a great location to enjoy fantastic wine accompanied by a well crafted charcuterie board. We tasted 4 wines; Sparkling Rosé of Sangiovese, Chardonnay, Sangiovese and a very nice Nebbiolo. We enjoyed each pour and the meats and cheeses went well with the wines. Service was fantastic and cost was $87 for 2 tastings and the charcuterie board. Villa Montefiori provided us with a 5 star visit and well worth a visit again on our next trip south of the border. read more

Tasting: $500 Pesos ($28 USD) includes four 1 oz. pours, as of our 8/10/24 visit. 20% discount if you're a guest at the Hotel Villa Montefiori. This was our second visit to this winery, the first being in 2015 and was in another structure on the property, now used as offices. I don't know exactly when the new winery was built, but it's a beautiful, modern building up on the hillside, offering amazing views of the vineyards, valley, and surrounding mountains. There's a dirt road (in good condition) which leads off the main road to the winery. Plenty of parking, but the walk is a slight incline to the winery (we had my 91 yo mother-in-law with us, so that's why I mention this). They have inside seating, but when the weather allows, I would suggest taking advantage of the beautiful, partially covered deck. The views are fantastic. WINES: The young man pouring for us was competent but didn't have the best customer interaction skills. His pours were about 1 oz., and his descriptions were memorized off the detail sheets. I believe that the wines are well made, but they didn't really connect with our palates, other than the 2020 Aglianico. That said, you should always try for yourself, as everyone's wine palate is unique and what I dislike, you may love...and vice versa. Overall, we loved the hotel on the property, and I really enjoyed the winery building and property, but wouldn't go out of my way to head back for the wines. However, I would like to give the onsite restaurant a try. read more

My favorite winery in the Valle. The wines are extremely yummy and impressive. I wanted to buy a case of several! My faves were the Sangiovese grosso and the Nebbiolo -incredible! The views from their patio were gorgeous. Our server Claudia was the BEST - so friendly, so accommodating, and so helpful. Our group of six people enjoyed a charcuterie board and some toasts with a tomato and pesto sauce. Both delicious! I can't wait to come back and get more wines! read more

Great overnight stay in a balcony room overlooking the vineyard. Rooms are spacious with attractive decor. Common rooms were inviting with great art. Priscila was an excellent host both at arrival and for continental breakfast and cellar tour. My favorite winery on our self guided tour!! The tasting area was open spacious and welcoming. Some tables inside and some outside on the deck overlooking the vineyard. This was our first stop on our 3 day journey into the heart of Mexican wine country. Great views and selections. We went with the Winemaker's Suggestion tasting. It included a Sangiovese grosso, Nero d'Avola, Nebbiolo and Nerone (the owner is Italian so they really dig the Italian varietals). We had heard that winemakers here by and large do a lot of blends so we were especially excited to try the Nebbiolo which is a standalone. If we had had more time there I would have loved to have tried the Sangiovese Rose as well. read more

Of the three wineries we visited on our Baja Wine tour, this was my favorite wine. They focus on Italian varietals using vines that they brought over from Italy and planted here. They've got some really great montepulciano which I bought to take home and enjoy. Careful though - you may be in Mexico but the prices look more like NAPA! I guess that's true for most of valle Guadalupe though. . Still the wine here is the one I least minded paying a pretty price for, as the quality definitely justified it. The tasting room itself is is fairly simple and non-gimmicky. It's a lovely second story room with big windows featuring a gorgeous view of the vineyards and mountains, with an adjoining patio perfect for cool spring or autumn afternoons. we went on a baja wine tour...this was the first of 5 places we visited. The establishment was very simple in decor.... The wine was anything but simple...loved the wine here! it was the best tasting we had all day. Terrible reservation system. I made a reservation for 9 people over 2 weeks in advance and one day before our tasting we get a call that they can't help us because they have a larger group at the same time. Now I need to try and find a tasting somewhere else when everything has been booked. Very poor business practices. read more

*ENGLISH REVIEW: This was our first stop on our day trip to el Valle de Guadalupe, and it was great! We got our temp taken in the front, and masks are required when walking and not at your table. The views are absolutely fantastic, and the vibe here is very relaxed. Staff were super friendly and the restrooms were clean and tidy. We tried 3 wines: rosé, Chardonnay, and a red blend. All were fantastic, but the rosé was my favorite. It was very light and fresh. The bottles are super inexpensive, at about $20 USD. If you pay in pesos, they are a bit cheaper so plan ahead if you want to take some back to the states. Be adviced you can only cross about a bottle and a half back per person though, so 3 bottles per 2 people. With part of our tasting we also got some small bite sized snacks (forgot the proper name of them) that were delicious! See photo attached. This is a definite must go to stop if you are in the area. Everything was beautiful! *EN ESPAÑOL: Esta fue nuestra primer parada en nuestro viaje al Valle de Guadalupe, ¡y fue genial! As a part of a wine tour visiting 4 places, we visited here to start. I wish I had known from the beginning that this would be my favorite place of the day! I enjoyed EVERY SINGLE tasting. The grapes are from Italy (planted in Baja) and the wine is created in an Italian style. It is very good, and we ended up buying a rose wine here (which says a lot as the prices were not what I expected for our Mexican wine adventure). I wish I had purchased more, having not purchased any other wines the rest of the day. I hesitated due to the price, but next time I go I will stock up properly. I felt very welcomed by the staff and owners/wine makers. They gave our party cheese and bread to accompany our tastings. It was very good. The views were not my favorite of the day, but they are building a second tasting room and perhaps those will be better. I can't wait to come back and taste this wine again. read more

What a beautiful winery! We had a lovely experience at Montefiori and seriously enjoyed the wines. I did the extended tasting that came with a wine glass and my friend did the 2nd most expensive tasting that way we could try a little of what the other had as well. I immediately fell in love with the Brunelo, what a smooth yet complex wine, just fabulous! It was a surprise to have so many Italian varietals of wine in Baja, but we loved them all. Our sommelier offered us some wonderful fresh cheese and baguette, which was such a treat with our tastings. The patio and view over the Valle and vineyards was amazing, such a wonderful experience. Our hosts were fabulous, the wines were delicious and the surroundings are amazing, can't wait to return! read more

Go for the Selezionato and stay for the ridiculous view. While you're at it, try the Nebbiolo and Rosso di Montefiori. Took a couple of bottles home and enjoyed them thoroughly. Be sure to take some time to sit out on the upper patio and take in the vista. If you're lucky, you might be able to catch one of the futbol games right out front. Goooool! read more

Nice views and friendly staff. The wine was lacking. It seems like they have raised the prices to equal or more than good international wineries without perfecting the process themselves. With so with so many wineries in the area I would suggest sticking to smaller producers who are working on pushing the wine quality forward. read more

Fantastic winery with really great employees. The last wine in the tasting, "Rosso del Valle" was phenomenal (but very expensive $98 USD). ThEnded up locking my key in my car and one of the employees helped me out and called up his friend to pop it open for me. By far my favorite winery in Valle de Guadalupe. This is a traditional winery dedicated to produce the best wines. If you are looking to have the best italian wines of the Valley and a unique experience I definetly recommend this place. Easy place to find. Very modern and good looking building where the tasting room is at. The staff is quite friendly and pleasant. All spoke English and were conversant in wine topics. Absolutely beautiful view from the patio. The wines were some of the best that I'd tasting during my short weekend in the area. They were open late, well past sun set. Villa Montefiori was my 4th our of 5 wineries from my visit to the valley. Unfortunately I was not very pleased w/ the customer service or the size of the pour. We ordered a glass of the red and immediately noticed that the $4 cup of wine came with a very meager servicing of wine. Other wineries give you more wine for the tasting alone, not even comparing to a regular pour. I was also not satisfied with the customer service, we waited for some time to get served. Because it took a while and we saw others that came in later get served first, we went and ordered directly from the bar since nobody came over to take our order. The winery itself is aesthetically pleasing although it is small. There are a total of about 10 tables. There is a second story which gives you a nice view of the vineyard. I don't think I will be returning since there are too many other wineries in this region which give you copious amounts of wine and better service. read more

Loved this place. The tasting area wasn't actually open when we arrived (our bad as we just popped in without checking) but the restaurant was open so we ordered a few glasses and enjoyed the beautiful view of the vineyards. We had already had lunch so didn't eat but the brick pizza oven kept calling out to me to order a snack and the wine was excellent. I will definitely be back next time in MX. read more
