We've been to Scarpinatos many times, for many events, over the years, but their Easter buffet makes me never want to return. There was no understanding that my wife, son, and I would be sat at a table with a family that took up two tables, making the comments from the family very uncomfortable, as they talked about us behind our backs. I received a call from the restaurant confirming there were three in my party prior to Easter, and was never told we would be sitting with strangers. When we were first seated, the family opposed, my son and wife do not fare well when having to sit with strangers causing anxiety and a family dinner that was more moody and argumentitive than enjoyable. I would have normally given the restaurant a 5 star review, but to create a chaotic situation without notice is unforgivable. I cannot say enough nice things about the wait staff though. Even with all the complaints, they were pleasant and attentive. read more

The food is great! Restaurant is clean and it has a nice bar. The BIG issue is the bar gives very skimpy drinks for a high price. Margarita and other drinks come in a half filled tumbler. For the money it should be a much better pour. The draft beer comes in a small flute glass for $8-$9. Ridiculous! At least a pint glass for the money. Don't plan on going there to drink with friends unless you want to get ripped off instead of buzzed. Apps are also a little on the high side. The regular menu food is great and priced well. We visited the old location many times and always had a great experience. The food and service were consistently good. The new location is very nice, but unfortunately our experience there was disappointing. From the beginning, the waitress seemed to have an attitude and was not very pleasant. It took at least 30 minutes to receive our drinks, and our appetizers arrived before the drinks did. When the drinks finally came, they were practically slammed onto the table. I ordered the Blueberry Bliss, which had good flavor, but it came in a very small glass packed with ice. The other drinks we ordered were also not filled to the top of the glass. The food was just okay. I ordered the crab cakes, and the texture was disappointing -- it seemed like the crab meat had been put in a blender. Based on this experience, we do not plan to return. read more

Four members of our ladies club decided to try lunching at this newly relocated establishment. We were quickly seated, and noticed it seemed unusual that the wait staff was literally running from the kitchen and back, over and over. Our waitress did not introduce herself, and seemed preoccupied. We had brought a bottle of wine because it says BYOB on the website. We were informed abruptly that they have a bar and it is not byob, they just haven't taken it off of the web. She would have been better had she allowed it this once, as it was advertised. Our food was served in a timely fashion, but one meal was completely wrong and when asked about it, she just shrugged it off and said she thought that's what it looked like. She thought French dip was corned beef. She didn't know the menu at all if that is the case. My meal was extremely salty, and I even took it home for a second opinion from my husband. He felt it was very salty. Another lady was most disappointed in her crabcake, as it was served dry on a roll with no accoutrements, and she felt the quality of the crab was substandard and tasted fishy. The other diner said her Mediterranean salad was fine and she had no complaints. Needless to say, we will not be returning to eat there. We tipped our waitress well, just because that's what we do, but she needs to slow down, be a little friendly, learn the menu, and our diner with the wrong meal was not compensated in any way, nor did the waitress offer to bring her the correct meal. read more

I ordered the most expensive thing off the menu, the seafood pescatore. 1% of customer order the most expensive item and you can't afford to not execute the most expensive dish on your menu poorly. That being said, the red sauce was the culmination of bland boiled seafood, dowsed with crushed red tomatoes all that drained into linguine with pasta water. To say the least, it was the worse. Unfortunately service was equally bad.. the chair was a double sided booth which the other side had people knocking the thing around as it wasn't secured to the floor. The staff was super busy so the whole thing felt rushed. But the last straw was when the person who bused my table used my table to collect other tables dishes then stacked in front of me then to carry them away. We went with a party of 16 for Christmas Eve. We had our own room right off the main dining room. From the moment we arrived, I was really impressed. Our tables were provided baskets of bread, oil/garlic dip, peppers and cheese. All were delicious. We had Michelle as the our waitress (yes, 1 waitress for a party of 16) and she nailed it. What a great, friendly personality. She was thorough and spot on with every order. Not one mistake. Even when the food was served, she was there to tell exactly who the meal belonged to. I can't say enough positive things about Michelle or the entire staff who assisted. Now for the food. Oh My Goodness!! The portion size was huge. I had the seafood pescatore. It was mussels, clams, scallops, shrimp and crab meat served over linguine in a white sauce. It was delicious. The taste was amazing. The sauce was perfect for bread dipping also!! Not sure what everyone ordered in our party, but everyone raved about how good their meal was. I personally didn't have room for dessert, but the few that did talked about how great that was too. First time eating there. The entrance is in the back. When we got in we had to walk through the dining room to the front. Got seated and I wish I wore heavier clothes because it was cold. They brought out a tiny space heater for a room with 30ft ceiling. My soup was microwaved because top was cold bottom was hot. My entree was good. Veal was tender. It's to loud for me. We went here for my boyfriend mum's birthday and the food was amazing! We did have to wait a little bit before being seated, despite having a reservation. From appetisers, to entrees to the dessert! They are BYOB but can provide a bucket of ice if requested. My favourite was the bacon rapped scallops and the rice pudding! Every now and then that's what my boyfriend and I will order for takeout, and occasionally chicken parm. The good portions are huge and a great place for Italian food in south Jersey! read more

We took our aunt out for dinner for her birthday. The food was mediocre for the pricing but we go over that. We had a big dinner between 4 people and even dessert. We ordered several items that were never brought to the table but were charged on our bill. When we attempted to rectify this with the waitress, my aunt was berated by her in front of the entire restaurant. Mortified at the experience, we got out stuff and left immediately after paying. We called in today to speak with a manager or person in charge and was told that the waitress was instructed to yell at my aunt/our table and was hung up on immediately after that. Whoever runs this place should be fired if that is how you intend to treat well paying customers. read more

I ordered a cooked turkey with gravy, stuffing, a spinach and cheese Stromboli and rice pudding. I was very disappointed in the food. The rice pudding was dry as was the stuffing. The stromboli was mostly bread, very little other ingredients. But the worst was the turkey. HOLY PORTIONS HERE!!! First, this place is BYOB or they have a selection of wines you can purchase for the table. Perfect for my first trip here for girls night. Second, they have $10 dinners during the week. You can ask for them to read you the selections. You can't make any changes to those dinners and each comes with a soup or salad. I did the spinach and egg drop soup with the chicken cutlets and Alfredo pasta. YUMMY!!! The chicken cutlets were delicious but the portions were huge. I have leftovers the next day! The staff was friendly. There wasn't a wait for a table, your whole party has to be there in order for them to seat you. You also get bread (plain and this spinach cheese bread), cheese, oil with garlic, peppers, and blocks of cheese for the table. We were so full we didn't even see the dessert menu! We came here on Saturday night for a nice dinner out. We really wanted to like this new location as we used to frequent Scarpinato's when it was on the BHP years ago. Unfortunately, this place is a let down from the moment you pull in the parking lot. We had to park in the back of the establishment and walk around to the front. Upon entering, we walked up to the hostess station and gave our name. The women were very nice but dressed in jeans. The wait was about half an hour and we were seated. Our waitress decided we were low priority in her station as we only saw her three times: once to take our order, once to bring my ice tea and once to bring the check. We were given bread which consisted of a pizza like bread and a hoagie roll cut into pieces, a small cup of roasted garlic, peppers and onions and cheese. Our waitress took our order. I specifically asked if the linguine was made in house. Nicole assured me it was. The pasta was NOT homemade and I am not sure why she felt she needed to lie about it. I ordered linguine and clams which was not specifically on the menu but was made for me ($20). My daughter had the chicken cutlet and fries. My dinner came with Caesar salad with optional anchovies. The portion sizes were huge, the food lacked any real flavor and the wait for our food once we ordered was absolutely ridiculous. If each entree was made to order, I could understand. This is obviously not the case. Our waitress was no where to be found most of the evening. She either had too many tables or just did not care about us since we were only a two top. It has potential. We were here on a very busy Friday night in March, 2019. It was rainy-snow and you have to park in the back and walk around to the front. This is not the best way to have laid out this restaurant, considering there is a door in the rear that is at the back parking area. Upon entering, we were advised of a 25-minute wait. Ordinarily, I would go elsewhere with that type of wait, but we opted to stay. We were seated in about 25 minutes, in the very busy, loud, and dark restaurant. Our 25-minute wait was in a small area on a small couch we had to share with a man with a "therapy" dog. I am glad I was not seated next to the curly-haired cheerful dog for my meal. It was very loud, especially with what I only imagine was a speaker right above our table. It was difficult to speak to my guy. There were a lot of children and a lot of noise coming from some fairly "active" tables. The meal starts off with "Cacia's Bakery" breads--foccacia, and a sliced roll, roasted garlic (which was incredibly good), roasted peppers and what I believe were slices of sharp provolone. The startin' pickins' were very, very good and I ate too much before my meal even came out. I ordered the Ziti in Rosa Sauce with Chicken Cutlets on top, the Cream of Tomato Seafood soup, and my guy ordered the Salmon Berenato with a side of broccoli and a salad. First, the portions are huge. Here it is, Monday morning, and I am finishing my entree for lunch today after having it for lunch on Saturday too. But quality is not about portion size, although that obviously plays a part in rating. The soup was divine. I would order this again in a heart beat. The ziti were done perfectly and the sauce was good, heavy, but good. Where it was not good was the chicken cutlet. They were done perfectly, but they had not much taste--perhaps some seasoning in the breading would help. I'm not sure the problem--because my Aunt makes the best chicken cutlets and she uses unseasoned breadcrumbs. Her's are much better than Scarpinato's. My guy's salmon was huge also, and he said the cranberry glaze was phenomenal--his only complaint was that he likes a firmer fish and it was a bit "mushy" inside. For $28, I would expect perfection. For my Ziti & Chicken's $22, I would expect more taste. For dessert--which we did not need but stuffed in anyway--was a Reese's cheesecake. This was just "okay." More than anything, it was heavy--I would imagine eating a brick would feel the same. I was unimpressed with it and wished we hadn't ordered it. But all in all, this restaurant is probably one of the better Italian ones around. I can imagine certain dishes are five star. What I find odd is it is very difficult to find a simple "spaghetti & meatballs in spaghetti gravy" on a menu. That is truly what I wanted--spaghetti gravy and meatballs. This was not on the menu. It's hard for me to imagine an Italian restaurant not carrying the one classic dish every Italian would eventually want. I remember going to Scarpinato's more than thirty years ago, when presumably, the father ran the business. It always had an eclectic, different menu--and I believe way back then I couldn't order spaghetti and meatballs, but I am looking forward to again visiting Scarpinato's. read more

1st time I went I ordered chicken parmigiana. The gravy was burnt which ruined the meal. In my opinion, if you screw up chicken parmigiana I won't come back. Five years later people were saying oh they do a great job. Everything was delicious. They could have improved, so let me order for my granddaughter's communion party. The roasted potatoes were not cooked all the way and instead of giving me the 2 trays of chicken piccata, I was given chicken marsala. We didn't know this until we brought it home and the company was coming in 20 minutes. So that was another strike. Should I have told my husband to make sure he checked out the order, maybe. Went here with 7 other people and everyone barely touched their food because it was completely drenched in garlic. Regardless of what the meal was, from the oil for the bread to the chicken parm or saltimbocca, it all had large cloves of garlic on top and mixed in the sauce. Even those who usually enjoy garlic said it was too overbearing and pungent for them. It wasn't even listed as an ingredient in my meal yet it overpowered everything. I've been a fan of Scarpinato's since they were at their previous location. I've visited the new Fries Mill location twice and each experience was worse than the last. The portion sizes are now smaller and the quality is not what it was. We ordered our food at 7:40 and it did not come out until 9:15. Our waitress, Trish, did not check in on our table a single time from the time she took our order to when the food f i n a l l y arrived. By the time I caught her attention she was very rude and told me she's been busy going back and forth. I absolutely understand, but she was incredibly attentive to the other 2 large parties seated next to ours. She then immediately walked away and proceeded to only give us a single refill when the entire table needed one as well as bread. She very quickly walked off and didn't return until our food came 30 minutes later. Overall, the service has always been very slow, but personality goes a long way. The quality of the food has significantly dropped and the portion sizes are smaller than they were. I highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

We made a reservation for dinner and when we arrived we found their lobby backed up with people unable to get seated for their reservation. I understand being busy on Christmas eve, but this is poorly managed and unacceptable. Even if the food is the best Italian food I've ever eaten this restaurant will never get more than one star from because of their ridiculously poor management. Edit: after 40 minutes of waiting we finally got seated and then proceeded to wait and wait and wait. They consistently brought out bread for the table, but our orders took well over an hour to arrive. I got the seafood pescatore which was just alright. We have been going to Scarpinato's for many years, even when they were located on Greentree Road. We even held a rehearsal dinner here and were so happy. However, this past Saturday may have been the last time that we visit. While I understand prices have increased due to COVID some of the entrees were very pricey. One of our entrees was angel hair with crabmeat for $39 this seemed excessive since there was very little crab. Two of our other entrees were $31 because they added $9 for crab and again there were barely any crab. However, we were extremely disappointed with the fact that they added a 3.5 fee for using our credit card. While again I understand this is due to Covid we used $100 in gift cards which should have been considered cash. The 3.5 fee should have only been on $60 which is what went on the credit card and when we asked we were told this is the way it is. Mind you that fee was not that much, however, it was the principle. During Covid we purchased gift cards at Scarpintos to show support. In addition, we also on a regular basis purchase the $1 chicken cutlets, which is a cash only deal. Cash deal also seems a little bit unusual. I have emailed them concerning my concerns but did not hear from them. I guess we will look for another Italian restaurant in the area to be our new favorite. read more

I came here for a date with my husband last week after hearing that they now have eggplant parm. We were sat within 5 minutes and the servers are all extremely helpful. We found out that they are having a promotion for the next week where they have $10 entrees to promote their new fall menu. I had the eggplant parm with rosa and my husband had penne rosa with chicken cutlets on it. All entrees come with a soup or salad so we both had the seafood tomato bisque. It was delicious and filled with seafood. My eggplant was delicious and I ate the rest of it for lunch the next day. I am pretty picky with my eggplant but this was cooked to perfection. My husband enjoyed his meal and the chicken cutlets made me wish I ate meat! We will be coming back for seconds of the same meals! read more

I visited this place for a Birthday Celebration. We were in the Ballroom. The place was very clean, and had such a beautiful atmosphere. The dance floor was nice, and the lighting was on point. Sad to say I chose this restaurant to have my daughters baby shower Oct 22, 2023, BIG MISTAKE, they are more focused on their chicken cutlet take out service then Events or banquets. I specifically called Mackenzie and asked how many servers I would have and was told 2 servers and a food runner. I had no one until 3:10 , my party started at 3 and me my husband and son in law were serving drinks ourselves and cut our own cake and served ourselves, it was awful, I had to ask for huge bucket of ice a half hour before party to put my wine and champagne in and carried it myself filled with ice a huge tin bucket that holds 10 bottles. I don't recommend this restaurant for ANY event. read more
